I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My computer has been slowing down considerably and keeps losing its internet connection. Then I started getting the error ' the account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running the same process.'

I have CA a/v and had 117 threats removed. Was able to run all the windows updates, then tried to find more help on the internet because then I started receiving the error ' the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network.'

Viperware found tons of problems, listed under MyWebSearch, which it did not clean, so I used MBytes to fix them. When that was complete, I started combofix. When Combofix rebooted, I couldn't even log on to Windows because it said my Windows Activation had expired and I had to call Acer, which I still may do, but I want to get all of my files off before they say to do a restore (which I am assuming will happen). The only way I was able to boot into Safe mode is to reset the bios to 2004. Then Combofix resumed it final steps, creating a log, etc. I assume M-Bytes got rid of the problems, because it looks like Combofix didn't find anything that I can see.

However, NOW I cannot open anything, or move anything because I get the error "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." This error comes up for all files, not registry keys. (UPDATE: I rebooted - what did I have to lose? - back int... Read more

Ok, so I'm working on a computer who's owner ran a program called ComboFix. Now, whenever you try to launch a program (say, Chrome, word, etc.) we're getting a popup that says something like "Illegal Operation Attempted on registry key marked for deletion."

I was thinking I'd have him restart the computer but "marked for deletion" makes me think this thing will not be able to reboot.

Let's troubleshoot this!

Spoke too soon. Restarting solved the issue. Good thing!

I have a problem similar to this issue..... none of the personal information, just commonlities when I downloaded and ran ComboFix....... Please help, I need my computer asap, I'm an online student....Thanks so much
"I ran ComboFix because my computer had some serious virus. I found ComboFix through another site and did not see the disclaimer about using it under the instruction of professionals.

The virus i had before showed up on AVG as Trojan Horse Crypt.EML. However, AVG couldn't get rid of it. The site i found just told me just to run ComboFix and it would work.

Anyways, ComboFix ran fine and generated a log report.

However, now all my programs won't work and instead say "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion."

I have the log report and all other files generated by ComboFix if anybody needs them.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Can somebody please help me fix this???"

A:Downloaded combofix now get message "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion...eeeek

Hi Dame1220Firstly, for the benefit of both you and others reading this thread, please take note of the following:ComboFix (CF for short) is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for personal, unsupervised use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. When CF is run without trained assistance, it can no longer be considered a "safe" tool. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. You may find this topic to be informative - ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look hereSecondly, in regards to your issue. Reboot the computer again. That should set everything straight.~Blade

Windows XP Home computer running IE 6.0. IE will not open (illegal operation error). My past experience has been that this often indicates a virus of some kind, but a scan with current Norton AV software indicates the system is clean. Is there a way to re-install IE (or repair? I thought there was an option for repairing windows components but I'm not finding it now). Thanks in advance.

Hello there,
Everytime I type in a web address on the internet I get the following messgage:

What could be wrong?

A:Solved: Internet Explorer Illegal Operation error

<a href=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q221/0/85.ASP> This </a> will most likely fix it.
BTW, to be honest with you my best advise is to upgrade to IE 5.01 SP1. You can get it <a href=http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/ie501sp2.htm> here</a>. IE 4.0 is going to continue to give you problems as you go further through time and 5.01 is the most stable release of IE Microsoft's ever released in my opinion.

I just finished building a system for a customer. The specs are: P3800EB, 256MB SDRAM, IBM 40GB,Intel 815EEA2L MB, SB Live 5.1, ATI Radeon 32MB Video, USR Modem, Plextor 16x10x40 CDRW, Toshiba SD-M2502 DVD, Win 98SE, Norton AV, WPOffice2000.
The odd thing is that everything seems very happy and stable until you try to change the screen saver!??? Nine out of ten time it comes up with the "This program has performed an illegal operation" error. If you click OK it pops back up about 6-10 times and then goes away. (Never does shut down the program that I have seen). I know it is a minor thing but when you have a brand new system that you paid big bucks for you certainly don't appreciate something like that. Luckily for me this customer is one of my good friends--but this also makes it very embarrassing for me! When I first installed the software I installed all operations of the "Norton System Works" package. I had all sorts of conflicts going on so I uninstalled everything except the virus scanner and it all seemed fine so I left it that way.
Well, that is my tale of woe--anybody got any ideas or suggestions??

Kernell32.dll errors can be down to spyware. Download AddAware www.lavasoftusa.com
Run it and ensure that all the boxes on the left are checked enabling deep registry scanning. You can remove anything it finds, except any references to Web3000. If you are unsure, you can post the details here.

Sounds like your TimeSink Adbot SPYWARE is corrupted.
I would STRONGLY encourage a look at http://grc.com.

Some spyware (masquerading as freeware) is malfunctioning. I would reinstall the suspect proggie then run grc's OPTOUT program to remove the spyware.

I'm no genius like the guys that moderate this, but I know wpyware when I see it!

Hi Peter, welcome to the board.

I trust that when you select “close” for Iamapp, everything else continues to work. Ctrl+Alt+Del and see what is no longer there that should be.

Do you have a firewall like ATGuard? I think Iamapp.EXE is often part of such programs. Go to Start/Find/Files or folders and do a search for Iamapp. You can probably associate it with a program by location.

Once you have found what application is causing the problem, uninstall then reinstall it. If you are still having the problem replace the program with something that works on your computer.

OK, I have an AMD K6-2 350, windows 98, 32 megs of ram. I was having problems with java applets in IE 5.01, I upgraded to 5.5, and I still have the same problems. I tried to use the stock quote streamer at www.money.net, and when I try, I get 1 of two error messages:

IExplore caused an invalid page fault in module MSJAVA.DLL at 0167:7appbf7b

IExplore caused an invalid page fault in module JIT.DLL at 0167:7c30fd70

I also tried another java applet, at www.station.sony.com, and got the same two error messages. What does this mean?, what can I do to fix it?

It seems as if the file is corrupt. Is there a way to selectively load that game from a win95 backup disk? This is a one disk recovery system. Any help would be appreciated.

I would, Edward. Just copy the file from someone else's Windows 95 PC or restore it from CD. (I emailed mine, give it a shot.)

A:illegal operation: DW.EXE

First of all Welcome to TSG kelbal.

Follow this link and read through the thread.

Or search threads for the "DW.EXE" string.

This will give you enough information to remove the offending software that's causing the issue.

Those errors can be caused by many different things really and sometimes its caused by adware. If you would care to follow below we can remove that possibility..

Please get Spybot S&D to clear out any spyware.

Install the program and open it.

Before doing any scanning click Online and Search for Updates .
Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click Check for Problems and when the scan is finished have Spybot fix all it finds marked in red.
Then after reboot:
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

Hi All

I have a question about Outlook Express. My daughter has a few e-mails that I was suspicious about. (the Klez virus). Her Norton is not up to date but we were able to delete these suspicious ones to the deleted folder. When I went to delete them out of the folder an error message came up saying "this has performed an illegal action and will be shut down" The only way to get out of it is to press OK and then it closes outlook.
She has Windows 95 and it is very slow. We did a virus check and nothing showed up.
The details of the message said:
MSIMN caused an invalid page fault in module INETCOMM.DLL at o14f:5ec2abaf.
and more along that line.
Any help you could give would be appreciated. We would really like to get those e-mails out of there. I know they won't cause a virus unless they are opened but it would be nice if they were gone.

Hi, just joined. I use NetZero 4.3. Lately I've been getting a Zcast dialog box when I try to dial up saying this program has performed an illegal operation and must shut down. I sometimes have to make several attempts before I log on. I tried reducing acceleration to zero, but that didn't help. Any ideas? Thanks, Marty

Hiya and welcome

Have you tried reinstalling NetZero? Also, when the error comes up, click Details, and copy/paste the contents here.

Also, which version of Windows are you running?
