I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My computer has been slowing down considerably and keeps losing its internet connection. Then I started getting the error ' the account specified for this service is different from the account specified for other services running the same process.'

I have CA a/v and had 117 threats removed. Was able to run all the windows updates, then tried to find more help on the internet because then I started receiving the error ' the settings saved on this computer for the network do not match the requirements of the network.'

Viperware found tons of problems, listed under MyWebSearch, which it did not clean, so I used MBytes to fix them. When that was complete, I started combofix. When Combofix rebooted, I couldn't even log on to Windows because it said my Windows Activation had expired and I had to call Acer, which I still may do, but I want to get all of my files off before they say to do a restore (which I am assuming will happen). The only way I was able to boot into Safe mode is to reset the bios to 2004. Then Combofix resumed it final steps, creating a log, etc. I assume M-Bytes got rid of the problems, because it looks like Combofix didn't find anything that I can see.

However, NOW I cannot open anything, or move anything because I get the error "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion." This error comes up for all files, not registry keys. (UPDATE: I rebooted - what did I have to lose? - back int... Read more

Ok, so I'm working on a computer who's owner ran a program called ComboFix. Now, whenever you try to launch a program (say, Chrome, word, etc.) we're getting a popup that says something like "Illegal Operation Attempted on registry key marked for deletion."

I was thinking I'd have him restart the computer but "marked for deletion" makes me think this thing will not be able to reboot.

Let's troubleshoot this!

A:After ComboFix: Illegal Operation, Registry Key Marked for Deletion

Just had client run "sfc /scannow". System returned: "Windows Resource Protection did not find any integrity violations."

Hello,

I just ran ComboFix and when it was finished clicking on programs and even the control panel causes an alert that says
"Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion". What do I do?

Spoke too soon. Restarting solved the issue. Good thing!

You shouldn't be running Combofix unsupervised.

I have a problem similar to this issue..... none of the personal information, just commonlities when I downloaded and ran ComboFix....... Please help, I need my computer asap, I'm an online student....Thanks so much
"I ran ComboFix because my computer had some serious virus. I found ComboFix through another site and did not see the disclaimer about using it under the instruction of professionals.

The virus i had before showed up on AVG as Trojan Horse Crypt.EML. However, AVG couldn't get rid of it. The site i found just told me just to run ComboFix and it would work.

Anyways, ComboFix ran fine and generated a log report.

However, now all my programs won't work and instead say "Illegal operation attempted on a registry key that has been marked for deletion."

I have the log report and all other files generated by ComboFix if anybody needs them.

I am running Windows Vista Home Premium.

Can somebody please help me fix this???"

Hi Dame1220Firstly, for the benefit of both you and others reading this thread, please take note of the following:ComboFix (CF for short) is intended by its creator to be "used under the guidance and supervision of an expert", NOT for personal, unsupervised use. Please read Combofix's Disclaimer. When CF is run without trained assistance, it can no longer be considered a "safe" tool. Using this tool incorrectly could lead to disastrous problems with your operating system such as preventing it from ever starting again. You may find this topic to be informative - ComboFix usage, Questions, Help? - Look hereSecondly, in regards to your issue. Reboot the computer again. That should set everything straight.~Blade

Windows XP Home computer running IE 6.0. IE will not open (illegal operation error). My past experience has been that this often indicates a virus of some kind, but a scan with current Norton AV software indicates the system is clean. Is there a way to re-install IE (or repair? I thought there was an option for repairing windows components but I'm not finding it now). Thanks in advance.

Hello there,
Everytime I type in a web address on the internet I get the following messgage:

When I hit "ok" it boots me out.

What could be wrong?

A:Solved: Internet Explorer Illegal Operation error

<a href=http://support.microsoft.com/support/kb/articles/Q221/0/85.ASP> This </a> will most likely fix it.
BTW, to be honest with you my best advise is to upgrade to IE 5.01 SP1. You can get it <a href=http://www.microsoft.com/windows/ie/download/ie501sp2.htm> here</a>. IE 4.0 is going to continue to give you problems as you go further through time and 5.01 is the most stable release of IE Microsoft's ever released in my opinion.

I just finished building a system for a customer. The specs are: P3800EB, 256MB SDRAM, IBM 40GB,Intel 815EEA2L MB, SB Live 5.1, ATI Radeon 32MB Video, USR Modem, Plextor 16x10x40 CDRW, Toshiba SD-M2502 DVD, Win 98SE, Norton AV, WPOffice2000.
The odd thing is that everything seems very happy and stable until you try to change the screen saver!??? Nine out of ten time it comes up with the "This program has performed an illegal operation" error. If you click OK it pops back up about 6-10 times and then goes away. (Never does shut down the program that I have seen). I know it is a minor thing but when you have a brand new system that you paid big bucks for you certainly don't appreciate something like that. Luckily for me this customer is one of my good friends--but this also makes it very embarrassing for me! When I first installed the software I installed all operations of the "Norton System Works" package. I had all sorts of conflicts going on so I uninstalled everything except the virus scanner and it all seemed fine so I left it that way.
Well, that is my tale of woe--anybody got any ideas or suggestions??

I called my help guy, he said to backup all my files and format my C drive. I can't seem to get any program to work long enough to back up my files. Formatting seems extreme. Is there another way?

This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shut down.
If problems persist contact program vendor
HOW CAN I OVERCOME THIS.

HOPE YOU CAN HELP
Peter Allwright.

A:Illegal Operation

Hi Peter, welcome to the board.

I trust that when you select “close” for Iamapp, everything else continues to work. Ctrl+Alt+Del and see what is no longer there that should be.

Do you have a firewall like ATGuard? I think Iamapp.EXE is often part of such programs. Go to Start/Find/Files or folders and do a search for Iamapp. You can probably associate it with a program by location.

Once you have found what application is causing the problem, uninstall then reinstall it. If you are still having the problem replace the program with something that works on your computer.

Those errors can be caused by many different things really and sometimes its caused by adware. If you would care to follow below we can remove that possibility..

Please get Spybot S&D to clear out any spyware.
http://www.safer-networking.org/index.php?page=mirrors

Install the program and open it.

Before doing any scanning click Online and Search for Updates .
Put a check mark at and install all updates.

Click Check for Problems and when the scan is finished have Spybot fix all it finds marked in red.
Then after reboot:
Download 'Hijack This!'. http://www.spywareinfo.com/~merijn/files/HijackThis.exe
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log, load it in Notepad, and copy its contents here. Most of what it lists will be harmless or even essential, don't fix anything yet.

I just installed the 505 game collection.win 98 500mhz 128 ram.It loaded ok and also loaded directx 8.1.When I try and open a game I get the old illegal operation bit.Launch caused invalid page fault in module DIRAPI.DLL at 017f:6802d44f.Anyone know what the problem is?

A:illegal operation?

dirapi.dll is a Macromedia file... I think Shockwave, although it may be used by Flash and some other Macromedia stuff also. Try uninstalling and reinstalling the game collection, and maybe Shockwave, too, although I'm not sure where to get Shockwave after uninstalling.

When attempting to print a photo through Photo Deluxe I get an "Illegal Operation" message and have to shut down the program. I've tried removing and re-installing Photo Deluxe, same with the printer drivers, to no avail. I did a scan disk and a defrag as well. Any suggestions?

A:Illegal operation

have you tried printing the photo with another program,or maybe just from explorer?
it could be a number of things conflicting.
control-alt-delete everything else except explore & systray....and of course the app your using to print from.
come back in and let us know how it goes.
good luck

VIEW CRITICAL UPDATES box popped up the other day and I updated whatever was already checked on the menu. One of them had something to do with Outlook Express, but I don't remember what it was. Since then, whenever I log onto OE, I get the message: THIS PROGRAM HAS PERFORMED AN ILLEGAL OPERATION AND WILL BE SHUT DOWN. When I press SEND/RECEIVE it just freezes, so I've been without email for a few days. Since I don't know what I "critically updated" I don't know what to take out. But when I view details, it says "MSIMN CAUSED AN INVALID PAGE FAULT IN MODULE MSOE.DLL"
I don't know what that means, and I hope someone out there will! Thank you!!! I'll just check back, because I'm unable to read my emails.

OK, I have an AMD K6-2 350, windows 98, 32 megs of ram. I was having problems with java applets in IE 5.01, I upgraded to 5.5, and I still have the same problems. I tried to use the stock quote streamer at www.money.net, and when I try, I get 1 of two error messages:

IExplore caused an invalid page fault in module MSJAVA.DLL at 0167:7appbf7b

or
IExplore caused an invalid page fault in module JIT.DLL at 0167:7c30fd70

I also tried another java applet, at www.station.sony.com, and got the same two error messages. What does this mean?, what can I do to fix it?

What exactly is an illegal operation? Of late I have been trying to access to a certain web site (IFILM.com). Every time I do, I get the "this program has performed an illegal operation blah blah blah" and it says something about an error on the page etc... What is the deal? I have had this happen with other sites, just every once in a while but it sure is annoying. No hurry just any info would be helpful. Thanks Marji

Lately, while surfing the Net, I am experiencing a small inconvenience. Sometimes (probably when I click on something), I suddenly see that dreaded Window, "This program has performed an illegal operation and will be shutdown". When I click on the Details button, it says, "DDHELP caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at ...". When I click on the Close button, nothing happens. When I click on Close a seond time, the Window closes but the program (AOL) does not close, and I can keep on surfing as if nothing had happened! Just a small inconvenience, but I wonder why?

If somebody can suggest any easy fix, I shall try that. Otherwise, I can live with this small inconvenience. By the way, my OS is Windows98 and I use AOL 7.0

Shoban,Take a look at this. And check this as well. I saw this and I'm wondering if the DD of the DDHELP stands for Disk Defragmenter. It would also be helpful to know what comes afterDDHELP caused an invalid page fault in module <unknown> at...that. Do you recall what comes after the 'at'?Post back with any results.

How can I fix this problem. I have been told I have too many windows left unopen, but I can get into them to close them. Was this cause by Kazza? Help!!!! How do I get rid of this problem?

A:illegal operation: DW.EXE

First of all Welcome to TSG kelbal.

Follow this link and read through the thread.

http://forums.techguy.org/t113322/s2b439dcfda88490cb013fe9f1f390c79.html
Or search threads for the "DW.EXE" string.

This will give you enough information to remove the offending software that's causing the issue.

Sounds like your TimeSink Adbot SPYWARE is corrupted.
I would STRONGLY encourage a look at http://grc.com.

Some spyware (masquerading as freeware) is malfunctioning. I would reinstall the suspect proggie then run grc's OPTOUT program to remove the spyware.

I'm no genius like the guys that moderate this, but I know wpyware when I see it!
