Lenovo Ideapad s340 upgrades

Q: Lenovo Ideapad s340 upgrades

So my old gaming laptop stopped working and my mom bought me the IdeaPad S340 as a gift, bless her heart, but she got me the intel core i3 10th generation. I can play games like pillars of eternity or divinity original sin 2 but games like the witcher 3 or final fantasy xv have some lag on the lowest settings. What can I upgrade to enhance gamming, without voiding warranty? Thanks

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

What exactly is the below download which is found on the download page for my notebook (IdeaPad S340)  :"Lenovo Energy Management and is supported on S340-14IWL, S340-15IWL, S340-15IWL Touch"  ? Here is the download page for my notebook:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/ideapad-s-series-netbooks/s340-15iw... and this is the webpage for the actual download:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/LAPTOPS-AND-NETBOOKS/IDEAPAD-S-SERIES-NETBOOKS/S340-15IW... The download page is vague on details about what Lenovo Energy Management does exactly.  It is listed  under Power Management only as "Recommended".  What exactly does it do?  And is it totally nessasary?   If I did a clean install of Windows 10 Home should I install this, and why?

NOTE: I attempted to post this as a reply to update to my previous post BUT its not showing up for some reason: https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Lenovo-U-and-S-Series-Notebooks/IdeaPad-S340-Wont-Start-1-Bios-Related-... The place I have always gone to have computers fixed (I live abroad in SE Asia but bought the Laptop online from Staples when I visited the USA last summer) told me: 1) Its the Bios chip on the motherboard that needs to be replaced. My understanding is that such chips are inexpensive (compared to replacing an entire motherboard) but require expertise to replace as some shodding etc might be needed.2) Because its a new model, they can't get the chip or work on it. 3) They confirmed (as they fix alot of different computers here) the so-called Lenovo service center where I live (SE Asia) won't be of much help as they don't want to work on motherboard etc parts. They rather just replace the entire motherboard etc and take FOREVER (which is what someone at the Lenovo store also warned me about!).4) My so-called "International" Warranty apparently is not so International. Asside from wanting to charge me at least $250 to replace an entire motherboard when its just a chip that is faulty, it might take the Lenovo service center 3 months to order and receive the motherboard...5) My Lenovo Warranty in the USA is good for almost another 6 months. 5) I have the harddrive taken out so I can acess all the files etc. I will also conta... Hi -- I have an IdeaPad S340 that is less than a year old. I use Zoom and Microsoft Teams almost every day for video calls. Out of nowhere people are saying they can barely hear me or that I sound garbled or underwater. I have uninstalled and installed Zoom several times, and have tested on Skype and others so I know it's a computer issue. I believe this started after I had one call where I plugged in an external microphone (which works fine). I have also checked the settings on the computer and Zoom to make sure it's routing to the system mic and not to the (now unplugged) external mic. Any ideas would be greatly appreciated!

I saw laptops or pc s in the past that manage to support more RAM that what specs said.  Only 12 gigs seems a low amount of memory for what I do, i mean for chrome). I have an ideapad S340-15IWL, the 81N8003SUS model to be exact. Core i5-8265U, 8 gigs RAM, 15.6" monitor and 256 GB SSD. Purchased via walmart.com, as the eact same model at Staples was sold out, as I purchased this at the start of september. I've had it the three months total. Last tuesday night in the middle of a programing assignment for a college class the screen went black (black as in no signal, as if somoene cut the connector) and the entire machine was unresponsive. Holing the power button or Novo button did nothing until this morning (thrusday morning) when the battery finally gave out and the machine was able to be rebooted. Tuesday via live chat a service rep said to leave it overnight and see if the battery drains. It lasted until last night sometime. yesterday (wednesday) I contacted lenovo support and they suggested it may be a hardware issue inside the machine and are sending out a box and opened up a ticket, as it' is under warranty being only three months old. The machine booted up this morning via holding the Novo button and booting normally. Is this a hardware issue? Is it known? Will it happen again? Should I send it back anyways? There's no way to open it up and disconnect the battery without voiding the warranty. I would like to feel relaitively safe this won't happen in the middle of an important assignment as all my classes are online based via Blackboard (or a new system the uni is switching to next semester)

I purchased a brand new Ideapad S340-15API (Model: 81NC00D3CY) on Tuesday. I set up successfully, downloaded all Windows updates and used the Lenovo site to check hardware and update all drivers. Everything is now updated and no issues were found. My problem is the internet is very slow. Other devices on the same network measure 25-30Mbps download through Speedtest.net but the S340 only 5-6Mpbs when it's next to the modem and 1Mbps when it is in the next room which is where I want to use it.  I updated the Qualcomm network adapter driver  from device manager but still nothing. I updated BIOS and still the same. How can I solve this? Is there a solution or should I just return the laptop? Would an external USB wifi adapter improve things?

If you have a SATA 2.5" SSD in your notebook - you can add an M.2 PCI Express NvMe driveIf you have an M.2 drive, you can add a 2.5" SATA drive (mechanical HDD or SSD) as long as height conforms to specs My Ideapad S340-15IWL came with a 256gb NvMe drive (gen 2 I think). I immediately added a 512gb sata SSD and had 2 drives. There was nothing extra I needed to buy as the empty slot for the 2.5" drive had the mounting kit empty already in the machine. Couple weeks ago, I bought an Intel 660p M.2 2TB NvMe drive, wanting to use it in an older Win7 desktop to replace a Samsung 970EVO 512gb M.2 drive. Basically, can use Samsung M.2 in Win7 as a boot drive pretty easily, but found it nearly impossible to do with an Intel drive (Win7 doesn't have the pre-GUI drivers needed to bootup from the drive). So, decided to replace both the 2.5" SSD I added to the Ideapad and the original Lenovo-supplied M.2 drive with the Intel 2TB M.2 drive. Using a Qnime NvMe USB enclosure (temporarily put the Intel drive in it and connect to Ideapad USB port), boot the Lenovo with a G4L (Ghost for Linux) bootable USB drive, and clone the internal Lenovo M.2 drive to the Intel M.2 with G4L's Click'nClone. When the clone was done, shut down, and then removed the bottom cover from the Lenovo, and disconnected the battery from the motherboard. Removed the Lenovo-supplied 256gb M.2 (which has both M and B keys and is a 2240 form factor) and put in the Intel 2TB M.2 (which has only... Hello, today I was listening to a podcast on my laptop using apple earbuds and just randomly the audio quit. I unplugged my headphones and played through the speakers and it worked fine, so I just went and restarted my laptop. Audio through the speakers still worked, and I plugged my earbuds back in and it still wouldn't play audio through them and instead just didn't have audio come out of anything, like before I restarted it. I tried a different pair of headphones, a pair of hyperx headphones, and they didn't work either. I then checked them using my Xbox one and audio played through both of those pairs of headphones. I then found a support article for Lenovo thinkpads saying to uninstall the Realtek driver and restart my laptop again, which I did. I then updated the realtek driver and still the same thing. I then plugged in an audiotechnica usb to 3.5 mm dongle and plugged the same apple earbuds into that, and it played audio   What might be the issue, and how can I fix it? I bought this laptop brand new from Best Buy about a month ago, could it have a defective audio jack that just randomly quit working after working fine for a month? Please help!

Some days ago I made a post here, asking if it was better to buy a 4GB Module or a 8GB one.I decided to go for the 4GB and now I had a terrible surprise... Somehow there was a RAM module on the slot that was supposed for expansion. This PC is supposed to have 4GB SOLDED RAM. But I was abble to remove the module I saw without any difficult, now I guess these are the 4GB of the PC. Now, Task Manager says I have 2 slots, also do CPU-Z and Crucial RAM Advisor but now I'm confused, really confused and I think I lose my money, WHERE IS THE OTHER SLOT??? I'm getting pretty nervous about it... (Now sorry, it's in Spanish) My PC's product number is 81NB (Full Number: 81NB000JLM)  and the series number is MP1LMKEL This PC comes with a Ryzen 3 3200U an integrated GPU (AMD) Vega 3 GFX, 4GB of RAM DRR4 2667Mhz, a SSD of aprox 120GB and a 1TB HDD

Hello there, I have an Ideapad S340, I'm thinking about getting an update, but I'm not sure of something. My PC's product number is 81NB and the series number is MP1LMKEL This PC comes with a Ryzen 3 3200U an integrated GPU (AMD) Vega 3 GFX, 4GB of RAM DRR4 2667Mhz, a SSD of aprox 120GB and a 1TB HDD I want to update my RAM, the original one is solded (Sadly) and I want to achieve DUAL SLOT Ram use.I have two options, the secure one is buying another 4GB RAM and then having just 8GB in Dual RAM but I really want to ask about having 12GB of RAM (1x4 and 1x8). I know that Flex Mode exist, it's meanted to having two different sized RAMs and still having Dual Ram. (Just in the first 4GB of the 8GB one but still an improvement, having the another 4GB in Single Slot) But, does this Laptop supports Flex Mode? I ask this because I want to unleash all the Integrated GPU Power by using Dual Slot but if the Laptop doesn't support Flex Mode, it would be a terrible money waste for me, so I wanna be sure if this PC supports Flex Mode and I can have 12GB (Having 4GB and 8GB of RAM) and the iGPU would use all the capacities of Dual Slot in Flex. I'll be right here, thanks for letting me ask here!

Hello! I have an Ideapad S340-15IWL with a 256gb ssd.I want to add another hard drive. Can I add another SSD or  can I only add an HDD? ( the platform specification sheet seems to infer that can only add HDD)Is there any instructions or videos on how I would physically add a hard drive to this exact model?I have found a hardware maintenance manual that explains how to remove parts but not how to add parts.Do I need any extra connectors or converters? Is there anything else I should know about picking out the hard drive besides what the platform specification sheet says? This is what the Platform Specifications says:Storage:  Up to 2 drives (one HDD and one M.2 SSD): ? HDD / SATA 6.0Gb/s, 2.5" wide, 7mm high, 5400rpm ? M.2 2242 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 2, 16Gb/s ? M.2 2280 SSD / PCIe NVMe, PCIe 3.0 x 4, 32Gb/s ? M.2 SSD / SATA 6.0Gb/s (e.g. xxxGB SSD M.2 I can usually find this information, but I'm having trouble with this model. Thanks for any help!

A:Hard Drive questions for Ideapad S340-15IWL!

Assuming hat your system currently has a M.2 SSD installed, you could add a 2.5" x 7mm SATA SSD as a storage drive, but the system only has one M.2 SSD slot available.     The HDD requires a bracket to secure it (FRU/part number: 5B40U61561). but I cannot find a source for that bracket online, so you may have to MacGyver a way to secure it.  The bracket is shown on page 43 of the Hardware Maintenance Manual and in the image belowClick on above image to expand Cheers,

When I ran UserBenchmark on my new Lenovo to test if it works correctly, I got the notice that: "CPU throttled at 88% by Windows. Ensure maximum processor state is set to 100% via Settings > System > Power & sleep > Additional power settings > Change plan settings > Change advanced power settings > Processor power management > Maximum processor state. " https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19397536 However, that setting is already at 100%. I reset the power plan settings to be sure, but it did not work: I ran the test two more times and each time the CPU throttled at exactly 88% again:https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19397664https://www.userbenchmark.com/UserRun/19397929 Now, obviously the Intel Core i5-8265U is still not a slow CPU but I think there is a bug somewhere. The laptop was connected to power in all benchmarks and is running the latest 2.04 BIOS.

Hello Lenovo Community! I've decided to give a big FU to consumerism and upgrade my VERY OLD Lenovo IdeaPad U160 bought wayyyy back in 2010. Since I've been consuming the internet and not contributing to it for a long time, I'll start by documenting my upgrade trials here. Please chime in (and answer a few questions) along the way! Here's what I'd like to upgrade and the replacement components:1. Storage: 500 GB HD to 500 GB SSD -- $150 -- Samsung EVO 2.5" 500GB SSD (via The Wirecutter recommendation)2. Memory: 4 GB RAM to 8 GB RAM -- $38 -- Crucial 8GB Kit (2 x 4GB) DDR3L-1600 SODIMM : CT5305724 (via this other thread)3. Battery -- ~$40 -- TBD4. WiFi Card -- ~$35 -- TBD Couple questions for the community:1. Any recommendations on how/what software to use for backing-up and transferring data on the HD to a new SSD?2. Anyone have experience upgrading a IdeaPad U160?3. Is the WiFi Card on the IdeaPad U160 replaceable/ugradeable?4. Any recommendations on battery replacement brands? RAM replacement is in en route! I'll update soon with how the installation went! Thanks!!
