An Unexpected error occured while configuring the network bridge.

Q: An Unexpected error occured while configuring the network bridge.

Hey all,

I'm using a Thinkpad T22 with a Linksys WPC54G Wireless Adapter, trying to create a bridge between it and my Ethernet adapter (Intel Pro/100 SP Mobile Combo Adapter) in Windows XP Pro with SP2. These are my only two network connections, and every time I try to bridge them, I get an error saying "An unexpected error occured while configuring the network bridge."

I've looked all over the place, trying to find an answer, but haven't found anything. Neither connections are set as my ICS connection. I have also tried this:

but Windows didn't rebuild the WMI repository, and anyway I just reinstalled Windows a few days ago.

I also looked at this: http://support.microsoft.com/kb/309640
which is not the problem I'm experiencing.

I am out of ideas. Help?

Preferred Solution: An Unexpected error occured while configuring the network bridge.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have been trying to set up my xbox to xbox live (it can't connect to the network) and i have heard that you can set it up by bridging your wireless and xbox connections (I have a Belkin F5D8236-4 wireless router and a Linksys WUSB600N wireless adapter) When I select the wireless connection and the xbox connection and try to bridge them "An unexpected error has occured" comes up and it doesn't bridge them. I have tried going to the bridge properties and selecting the 2 connections and adding them it doesnt let me add them.
How do bridge my connections or what is another way to connect my xbox?

A:Unexpected Error During Network Bridge

First off, the wired adapter MUST be configured for automatic addressing using DHCP first, then you can try to bridge the connections.

What version of Windows are you using?

Hi, I have a huge problem with my laptop...

One hour ago, i got a bluescreen about something not working and that I should restart the PC. I did so, and got this error:

Windows has encounted a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.

This error can be caused by unplugged a removable storage device such as an external USB drive while the drive is in use, or by faulty hardware such as a hard drive or CD-ROM drive that is failing. Make sure any removable is properly connected and then restart your computer.

If you continue to receive this error message, contact the hardware manufacturer.

from what i've been able to gleen from the web it's basicly your hard drive is either had it or needs the master boot record rewritten.

a link to guide from iseeuu forum member on how to redo your mbr should it require it.

if you don't have a cd you may be able to press f8 after bios post and select 'repair computer' will be at the top if it's enabled but it is down to the manufacter to add it or not.

if your hdd has sacked it you could utilising another machine download a hdd tool from the manufacter website burn it to a disc as bootable and boot from disc at post, it will tell you if something is wrong.

if neither of these helps or isn't relevent let me know i'll think of something

the laptop is 5 months old with windows 7. i start it up and it goes black after the boot screen and then after a min or so a load bar loading windows files comes up it gets about 1/4 of the way up and stalls then i get this message something about removing any usb devices such as a hdd or cd rom but i have no usb devices. i tried removing the dvd drive in the laptop and booting and had no luck. i tried booting up the windows 7 dvd hoping i could use the repair facility with that and for some reason it will not boot from the cd it just goes straight to the same screen.
i tried pressing f8 and the safe mode option came up and i selected that and the same load bar came up and stalled 1/4 of the way. now whenever i start the message keeps coming up but i have the option to start windows which strangely loads up the starting windows logo but then goes back to the same old screen.

im guessing its a hdd problem somethings got corrupted. ive connected the hdd from the laptop to my desktop and im able to view all the files from it so the hdd isnt damaged all the files are there and i can access them fine.

what do i need to do to fix this? im sure its quite a complicated answer but it shouldnt be too hard i have a good bit of computer experience. what file/files are most likely to have become corrupted and is it possible for me to dig through the files on the hdd and replace them with non corrupted files? if thats even what the problem is

This is my first post and I must tell you that my PC knowledge is basic.
I have 2 problems.
The first one relates to an error when accessing the connections properties "an unexpected error occurred". I have tried a couple of things which did not make any difference, for instance:

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\netshell.dll, and then click OK.
In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.

Click Start, and then click Run.
In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll, and then click OK.
In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
Restart the computer

The second problem I have is about a pop up windows that keeps appearing saying " server busy", I have the option to retry or switch to (Cancel and x are unavailable). It seems that I only get this when I use Internet (it seems to happen when I use a p2p but I am really not 100% sure if this is the case).

I ran a wise registery cleaner 4 a couple of times when I get this last error but it still persistes.

Can you please help me? I have a "hijackthis notepad log for you but I am not sure where to post it.

Thank you very much

It sounds like the drop has damaged the hard drive, it is quite possible that the drive will need to be replaced, at the very least it should be scanned for surface defects.
Turn the computer on and press F8 repeatedly until the Advanced Boot Options screen appears.
If you are lucky the first option will be Repair Your Computer, slect it and press enter.
If the hard drive is not too badly dammaged it will boot into the recovery environment.
If you can't get this far you will need to find an external DVD drive to boot from to try repairs.
If you do managed to get to the System Recovery Options screen, click Command Prompt
At the command prompt type CHKDSK C: /R and press enter
Type  Y and enter if prompted to force a dismount.
The full disk check will take quite a while, once it is done restart and see if the system boots.
If it still will not boot, repeat the above steps to get the the System Recovery Options screen again.
This time click Startup Repair and follow the on screen prompts.
If a full surface scan and startup repair does not get it booting its probably time to look at recovering any data you need to save from the drive starting with a fresh install of windows on a new hard drive. That may be beyond what you want to do yourself.

I read a few other forum posts but didnt see anyone have the 0xc00000e9 error also. Bios boot priorities are in order if that matters.

Is there a fix without having to replace the entire HD and buy a new vista installation(preinstalled w/ no disc in the box).

Im very reluctant to take it to a service center as i can very likely fix it myself (with the help of the friendly people here of course), only problem is im having a little trouble..finding.. my HD in this damn notebook.. heh, ill figure that part out. new to notebook repair.

Thanks in advance. Danny

edit: found the HD, doesnt look like it even uses a cable, just plugs right into what i assume is the mb. dont know if that helps just supplying what i can.

Unexpected I/O errorhas occured.
Windows had encountered a problem communicating with a device connected to your computer.
This error can be caused by unplugging a removable stoarge device such as an external USB drive harddrive....bla bla bla

I am very much unacquainted with computers when it comes to solving problems like this. I'm afraid I screwed up my harddrive...
What is the cause of this?
And can you please explain to me how I can rectify this problem in different ways(as I know it may not necessarily be the harddrive I wrecked)?

I also have windows 7 Home

A:0xc00000e9 Unexpected I/O errorhas occured

Be careful with that sleepwalking, they may decide to put an end to it!

It does sound as if there's a hard drive issue; it may be that it has a bad connection, or perhaps the drive is dying.

If you look at the service manual for your laptop, you can see how to gain access to the hard drive compartment. Make sure it's in there securely.

You might also run SeaTools for DOS.

Alright, so there was a post in 2007 about this same problem with a user named macrae and short story of it is I did IPCONFIG, got 169.254... And typed IPCONFIG/RENEW and there was an error and it was unable to contact my DHCP server. Request has timed out. Typed in IPCONFIG/ALL and from the normal interface that most get when they type this in, I had a differnce in that IP Routing Enabled came up as no, and WINS Proxy Enabled came up as no. Otherwise I have a physical address, my Dhcp is enabled, auto configuration is enabled, subnet mask is 169.254... And my subnet mask is 255.255... And there is no default gateway....

I have an annoying problem on my Satellite A660 that I cant fix. I have lost the use of my function keys as well as the flash card function. It seems to be related to the HW setup utility which wont open.

When I click on the icon this message comes up ?This application has requested the runtime to terminate it in an unusual way?. I have tried to reinstall Hwsetup but it will not do so either by reinstallation or uninstallation and this message appears, ?T/ hw setup. Error1316 Network error occured while attempting to read from C. \Windows\installer\Toshiba Hardware Setup.msi

Error 1603 fatal error. Consult windows installer help (msi.chm) or MSDN for more info.

I have downloaded a fresh copy of Hwsetup but still no change. I have also tried to restore from much earlier restore points but again nothing changes. Would very much appreciate any advice, cheers Jeff

A:Satellite A660: HW setup. Error1316 Network error occured

Possibly this error message is related to registry issue
I found a same error message in the MS knowledge base article. The error appeared while you upgrade an existing installation to Office 2000.

I think you should clean the registry using CCleaner.
First of all uninstall the Toshiba HW setup Utility.
Then uninstall the VAP (value added package)
Then reboot the notebook.
Now run the CCleaner and clean the registry and remove temporal files.
Reboot the notebook.
Run the CCleaner once again to ensure that registry is cleaned properly.
Reboot once again and then install VAP.
Reboot once again and install HW setup.

Good luck

I recently switched out an older Netgear router for the Netgear WNDR3300. I have a 1TB WD MyBookWorld connected via ethernet to the router. Ever since the router switch I have been having two specifice issues:While uploading videos to Facebook, the video will upload anywhere from several MB up to over 100 MB, then stall, saying it's still uploading but trust me, it isn't.
I can copy files/folders from the networked hard drive to my computer flawlessly, but when I try to copy files/folders from my computer to the networked hard drive, it copies anywhere from a few seconds to maybe a couple minutes then stalls out, giving the error message:
"Network Error. There was a problem accessing [\\SERVER\FOLDER]... Make sure you are connected to the network and try again." with Retry, Skip and Cancel. When cancel is pressed it gives: "An unexpected error is keeping you from copying the file. If you continue to receive this error, you can use the error code to search for help with this problem. Other useful information: on the new router, the WNDR3300, if I use WEP security, I can copy files/folders to the hard drive, no problem. However if I try to use WPA/WPA2, the abovementioned problems occur. I would use WEP and just forget the hassle, but WPA2 is much faster and more secure, so I really want to get this fixed.

A:Error 0x8007003B: An unexpected network error occurred

Hmmmm, Tough Problem.

One of the things it could be is a loose connection, and it keeps on dropping out. Try checking all of your Patch (Ethernet) Cables and reconnecting them all.

As you can copy the files on WEP, it seems like windows is preventing a so called 'Hacker' (You) from copying a 'Virus' (Files) onto the HD. Try to edit the security settings yourself, edit the sharing options in the HD's properties and that might fix it...

Basically I create a network bridge between my wireless and LAN connections so I can share my wifi connection. Just a while ago, for some reason, the wifi stopped working and my computer seemed to freeze at the same time. I was forced to improperly shut down the computer by pressing and holding the power button on the front (not something I normally do)

I'm able to recreate the network bridge that I normally do but at the same time there's the old network bridge and I cannot delete it. When I try it gives me an error message "an unexpected error occurred while configuring the network bridge"

When I try to open the properties window I get the regular window but with blank information (http://i.imgur.com/DvZXwj0.png)

Is there anyway to get rid of it? Its harmless but annoying.

Is it really bricked or is it in limbo? I had one I thought was bricked, turns out i just had to wait it out to finish the firmware upgrade.

What model router is it?

Were you trying to install DD-WRT?

if you think that its just a configuration problem, then go to device manager and uninstall your network driver, then click on the action tab on top and click scan for hardware changes, and let windows reinstall them in their default settings. Now try your custom IP.

Did you do the 30-30-30 reset? (press and hold the reset button for 30 secs, unplug router, wait 30 secs, plug router in while still holding the reset, then after 30 more secs, release the reset.) Do not release the reset at any time, til the end.

If it has not completed the firmware upgrade then do not do the 30-30-30 reset until its done..

The error also occurs when trying to disable the adapter. The network connection DOES work though. I have received an IP from my DHCP router and have network/internet access.
I have tried the Windows XP/7 "fix":
1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\netshell.dll, and then click OK.
3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
Test to see if you can open the properties of the network connection in the Network Connections folder.

1. Click Start, and then click Run.
2. In the Open box, type regsvr32 %systemroot%\system32\ole32.dll, and then click OK.
3. In the RegSvr32 dialog box, click OK.
4. Restart the computer.
Both did NOT work. I have also attempted uninstalling and reinstalling the Network Driver. I have also tried "SFC /scannow".
Neither of these worked either.

As the title says, I'm getting a box saying "An unexpected error has occurred" whenever I try and access the properties window for my ethernet adapter. An unexpected power outage earlier in the day rendered my Windows 8 installation half messed up, leaving most of my drivers corrupt, so I had to attempt a refresh today, which solved most of my problems. Unfortunately others like this have been cropping up since the refresh. I've looked for other possible solutions to this problem, and none have worked so far. Re-registering DLL files solved nothing, a system file check didn't do anything, and making sure I was in the correct user groups didn't solve anything either. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:"unexpected error" trying to access Network Adapter

Probably your best bet would be to backup your data then do a restore to factory or clean install. More painful than a refresh but in the long run I think it will save you time and aggravation.

I am running Windows XP SP3.
I have wireless and lan connectivity
I want to view the properties of the network connections.
I go to control panel , network connecitons, and right click on "local area connection" and select properties
I get a "Network Connections" dialog box that reads:

"An unexpected error occurred." the properties do not display.

I followed the steps in http://support.microsoft.com/kb/824923 but that did not work.

I was infected with malware a while back but believe the system to be clean now.

any help would be appreciated.

Hi. I have no more ideas on what to try next. Any help greatly appreciated. My laptop is running Windows 7 Professional 32bit and is fully patched. The Ethernet adapter (Marvell Yukon 88E8055) is enabled and the wireless adapter (Intel PRO/Wireless 3945ABG) disabled (via software and the hardware switch). Symantec Endpoint Protection provides AV/security (via group policy). It is highly likely the problem was self inflicted and not caused by a virus / malware.I use the cisco VPN client and wanted to upgrade it (a reinstall may have been sufficient but as I was going to the bother I thought I would upgrade) as I was having some annoying timeouts when using the client immediately after logging into my desktop.I started by removing the existing (old version During the removal the screen went black and the laptop was not responding; ie I couldnt get the screen to wake up. I ended up powering off by holding the power button for 5 secs. On reboot, it appeared that the old vpnclient ( had been removed and everything else was functioning as normal. So I tried to install the new version ( vpn setup program gets as far as "Installing Network Components" and produces error "Error 27854. Ive tried a whole bunch of different things to solve this error -
an error occured during DirectPlay Voice Setup. the error code is 0x8015017

Ive tried the DPVsetup.exe fix

This problem generally occurs only the first time that you run the test. If this problem continues to occur after the first attempt, follow these steps:
1. In Control Panel, double-click Sounds and Audio Devices.
2. On the Voice tab, under Voice Playback, click Advanced.
3. On the Performance tab, move the Hardware Acceleration slider at least one position to the right.

Ive installed 2 different files..

And still the tick remains on Mute against the microphone?? I can hear sound through the mike but cannot activate it?? Can anyone help?

After months of trying different things I have gave up and come here for help. The problem arrises when trying to install AVG 2012. The error that is displayed during installation is;

"Severity Error

Error Message: General Internal Error.
Additional Message: Installing 3rd party redistributables failed. If Windows update is prepared on your computer, install it, if Windows update was installed recently, verify, please, its successful completion. Try to install AVG then again.

Having looked around, people say this is a windows update error. I have followed various links back to microsoft support and ran fixes which have been unsuccessful.

Is there anything that can be done without formatting this laptop?

hi everyone,
sometimes i get this error message that says "An error occured inside a plug-in contained on this page.".... when i get this error i click ok.. then another pops up and after i click ok about 5 times i have to restart my computer.

one of the sites that this happens to me with ishttp://www.gnronline.com/ when i click on the merchandise link at that site. i think the problem may have to do with quicktime because usually i see a quicktime box above the error messages. can anyone help please?

A:Error message: An error occured inside a plug-in contained on this page.

I don't have Quicktime installed on this pc, and I didn't see the error that you're getting. Do you have Quicktime installed?

Also, in any other sites, does the error come up with the QT box?

If not, lets see a log, just to be sure:

go to www.spychecker.com/program/hijackthis.html , and download 'Hijack This!'.
Unzip, doubleclick HijackThis.exe, and hit "Scan".

When the scan is finished, the "Scan" button will change into a "Save Log" button.
Press that, save the log somewhere, and please copy & paste its contents to the forum.

It will possibly show other issues deserving our attention, but most of what it lists will be harmless or even required, so do NOT fix anything yet.
Someone here will be happy to help you analyze the results.

The problem I am having occurs when I make a Network bridge connecting my Local Area Connection with my Wireless Area Network to create a MAC Bridge Miniport. I have used this daily for connecting my Xbox 360 to Xbox Live and up till now has not given me any problems.

I commonly deleted the bridge to get a better connection and the other day I deleted the Network Bridge and an error popped up saying that an error occurred while removing bridge. Now a red X appears on the Network Bridge, under Network Connections, every time a new bridge is made, also stating that the Network Cable is unplugged, although it is.

The following are the attempts I have made to fix the problem but were unsuccessful.

Attempt 1: Replaced Ethernet Cord with several different cords - Simple fixes are always tried first.
Result 1: Network Bridge still states that the Network Cable is Unplugged.

Attempt 2: Deleted Network Drivers, then Restarted Computer to automatically reinstall drivers.
Result 2: The Problem still exist with nothing new.

Attempt 3: Used the command prompt using it as an Administrator and...
Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, by typing: netsh int ip reset reset.log
Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults, by typing: netsh winsock reset catalog
... Then reset the Computer as the command prompt suggested.
Result 3: Problem still occurs.

The next thing I am going to dude is reinstall Windows 7 again... but I want to do this as a last ... Read more

I am getting a disk read error occurred. Press ctrl alt del to restart.

I restarted my computer because my mouse was acting up:

The middle button was zooming in and out (web pages desktop etc) and the left click button was only selecting multiple files.

I had a little problem this morning when many of my files and folders on my desktop where renamed when I tried to make a new folder.

After trying a system restore that failed I ran a chkdsk.

What is going on and what should I do?

A:A disk read error occured error after restarting

Hi there dylan151,

Disk Read Error normally means the computer hard drive is going bad. The best thing to do right now is to scan your computer hard drive for errors. Go to a working computer, go to the manufacturing website of your computer hard drive and download the diagnostics utility. Put the program onto a bootable media(e.g. USB flash drive, CD, etc.etc.) and boot the computer to the diagnostics utility program. Follow the on-screen instructions and test the hard drive for errors.

If you have important data on that hard drive, take the hard drive out of the computer and use a Hard drive-to-USB adapter to connect your computer hard drive to a working computer. Transfer your files onto the working computer.

Hope everything works out well for you, please provide an update when you can, thank you.

I am using Win7 32-bit Premium. I'm trying to run a Batch file with several dll's, and I'm getting this error:

Banner: Error Occurred - Add License
Body: Unable to enumerate resources. Error Code: 15106

I have tried to google this, but I haven't gotten any helpful answers. Also, if I even try to register any of the Batch's DLLs manually, I get this error:

Banner: RegSvr32
body: The Module "C:\Bla Bla Bla...." was loaded but the call to "INSERT DLL HERE" failed with error code 0x80028011c.

For more information about this problem, search online using the error code as a search term.

Any and all help appreciated!

A:An error has occured

Hi, Nemesis_2k7, and welcome to the forums.

First of all, we need to know 1) What features you're turning on / off in order to help you out further - there are a lot of features that are installed and a lot that are not and that leaves us with too many combinations to pick and choose with.
