Yoga 370 (Windows 10): Long-Press Settings cannot be changed separately for Touch / Pen

Q: Yoga 370 (Windows 10): Long-Press Settings cannot be changed separately for Touch / Pen

I tried to deactivate the long-press feature on my Thinkpad Yoga 370 for the pen.It just didn't work (Even when I manually changed the setting in the registry.)After some time of trying different stuff I finally figured out that I can deactivate the right-click on long press in the "Pen and Touch" settings found in the Control Panel. However:Only the settings in the "Touch" Tab actually get applied; for both pen and touch! The settings on the "Pen Options" Tab don't have any effect on anyting. I would like to configure my system to allow long-press for right click for touch input but not for the pen input. Is there a way to do this (maybe through manual registry configuration)or is this a driver bug?(Should it be the latter; would you mind fixing it @lenovo?)

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Apps such as facebook that allow you to long-press a "like" link which pops up "like, love, wow, sad and hate" icons do not work with the touch screen. You can use the touch pad for those but not the touchscreen. Kind of ridiculous since dell has had this functionality for years. I contacted support who gave me the typical runaround about installing windows updates, running the lenovo advantage system update, yada-yada. Which of course made absolutely no difference. Do they even test this stuff??? Does anyone know a solution? Does it work with a pen? (i don't have a pen yet)

Hello! Part 1: After the latest drivers update (Wacom develops driver for Lenovo Active Pen 2), the long press of the top side button leads to activation of screenshot event (kind of Snip and Sketch). I have a Thinkpad Yoga X1, windows 10, all updates installed. It fires random window key presses while using the computer, very regularly. This causes severe interruption to the use of the laptop. I don't see any phantom touches on the screen, but it does have a tough windows key outside the screen area, and I'm wondering if that does the phantom touches. Any ideas? What should I try?

First let me describe the problem:
All of my Windows Explorer settings appear to be stuck at the defaults. If I go to Tools>Folder options... and change them, the change does not take effect, and if I open the menu again, the check boxes are back to the same state as before.
When I right-click in empty space, my New menu is empty.
Also, if I try to drag a shortcut to the taskbar, or pin an item to the start menu, nothing happens.
Now this all started after removing a piece of beta software (being developed at my employer) using the add/remove programs list (my mistake). It apparently corrupted the registry, causing a bluescreen at boot. I let the system do the auto repair, which
got me able to boot again, but with the problems noted above.
My next action was to try System Restore to bring me back to a state a few days back. Unfortunately, the restore failed, and upon going back into System Restore, I found all of my restore points had disappeared (!).
I next exited Windows and replaced (after making backups) DEFAULT, SAM, SECURITY, SOFTWARE, and SYSTEM in Windows/System32/config/ with the copies in RegBack. After rebooting, this did not seem to change anything.

Any ideas about how I might still get my old settings back or at least be able to change them again? I was hoping to avoid reinstalling Windows.

A:Windows Explorer settings can't be changed

One important question: If I have resized my disk partitions since I made a System Image with the backup utility in Windows, will I still be able to use the image?

The native image creation tool was Microsoft's first stab at such a facility. The good news is that it's free. The bad news is that it is temperamental, unreliable and that it lacks the functionality that we take for granted with similar but mature products.
Example: it will not restore partitions where the target is smaller than the original partition. But give it a try anyway - I might be wrong.

Dear Reader,

My problem occurred when I booted my Windows 7 laptop yesterday (HP), and saw after logging in that my desktop background had reset itself to the factory default. Also, the shortcuts present on the desktop were also different from before, and some files (documents) I had placed on the desktop were not there. The Quick Launch bar was also empty except for Internet Explorer and Windows Media Player. When I ran some programs (Firefox, VLC media player) I got some screens saying 'this program is not your default program for ... ' as if I ran them for the first time.

When opening Windows Explorer, I also found the quick access 'Libraries' were all empty. I checked C:/Users/Myname and found all my files there as usual (thankfully), but something is clearly out of the ordinary. It's almost as if I have logged into a different account on the same computer, which is not the case as there is just one (with Admin rights).

Thinking this may have been the results of a virus/malware, I have run a full system scan with AVG and MalwareBytes. AVG removed a few things tagged as 'tracking cookies' and MalwareBytes removed 2 undesirable registry entries tagged 'non-malware'.

Can anyone tell me what may have happened to my computer? And how I can reverse it?

(I can check if it is done automatically, but I do not make system restoration points regularly. Which may be unwise, but I do not use this laptop very often.)

Thank you for any advice!

ISSUEThe 720 touchpad and touchscreen are the worst.  This issue started out of the box before I had even gone on line.  When the touchpad does work, the right click/left click distinction doesn't work and I have to use the screen, when it's working, for the long hold until the right click options appear. When the screen is working, the ability to close a window and touching it just the right way is dubious at best.  I've tried modifying sensitivity, etc, in the control panel, but there is no difference.   When both window and touchpad stop functioning, I plug in an old HP mouse I have, but when I'm mobile, this means running the mouse down my leg if I don't have a surface to place my laptop upon.  And it also means carrying a mouse with me everywhere I go.  My line of work is often standing and walking with clients so  not really possible in my line of work.   RETURN/REPAIR OPTIONS AREN'T OFFERED OR ARE NOT PRACTICALTo back up a bit, I attempted to return this to BestBuy, but was four days beyond the allowable return date.  I contacted Lenovo, but it's all about mailing it in or turning the laptop over and being without anything for a few days.  Hard to find those few days.  I've tried to live it, but it's been an enormous killer of productivity, not to mention incredible frustration and some embarrsassing typos.    PAST YOGA BUILD WAS GREAT - WHAT WENT WRONG WITH THE 720?My last Yoga 710 wa... Hi.
I was changing some settings in msconfig yesterday. The parameters I changed is:
Timeout: 0
No GUI boot: Checked
Number of processors: 8 (I think this was unnecessary since it's already booting up using all cores/threads. But it shouldn't cause a error even if I changed it manually.
Now, when I'm trying to boot up my PC I'm just receiving a BSOD. I've tried to use both "Normal mode", Safe mode and the last working configuration, but none works. I've also tested to do system repair but it just gives me some kind of error that it couldn't be completed. Sadly, I've disabled the System Backup/Restore, so I can't do that either!

Right now I've started the command prompt from the "System Recovery Options" and I think this is the only way for me to fix this.

So what I wonder now, is if there's any way to reset the settings in msconfig to the default through the command prompt, or maybe there's another way I can try to fix this? I don't feel like re-installing Windows once again.

Best regards,
Flaxe

Why in God's name did you do this??

That was likely a fatally wrong assumption...

What were you trying to achieve with this? The timeout has no effect unless you multi-boot and have a boot menu, and No GUI boot only means no graphical moving bar during startup.

EDIT: You might be able to fix this by editing the Windows registry offline. Look for the settings you changed in the following registry key:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\Session Manager\Environment

In particular, you'll want to change NUMBER_OF_PROCESSORS back to 2 (assuming you have a dual-core CPU).

Soooo, I was a little frustrated with some recent BSODs which I thought were caused by overheating, so I was trying to figure out how to underclock my CPU. On my ASUS M5 A97 R2.0 mobo, I went into BIOS and just did the F5 default settings which put my clock speed at 4.0ghz so I was like "hey perfect! it's slower now". And then windows wouldn't start. I opened up the case and popped out the battery on the mobo and waited a bit and put it back it, settings went back to where the were but windows still appears to be messed up. I get the "Starting Windows" screen for about 5 seconds, then a blue screen blips and it reboots, and asks me if I want to repair windows.

OS: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit
Motherboard: ASUS M5A97 R2.0
CPU: AMD FX-8350

I asked elsewhere and was told that my Windows install got messed up, but was given no further information or suggestions.

I updated my Window 7 Ultimate today, and now when my computer reboots, it stops at the login screen. It used to just boot into my desktop and bypass the login screen. This is annoying because I use my tablet's wifi to check on and access things on my computer. If I have to go back to the desk to login, it kind of defeats the entire "mobile" computing thing I had going.
Does anyone know how to change that setting? And why did Microsoft change it?

Hi,
I've not installed any new software or hardware but when I've turned my computer on this morning Windows is running pathetically slow (takes 3 minutes for My Computer and other folders on the desktop to load up).
I've looked in MSCONFIG to see if there are any extra processes running and nothing out of the ordinary stands out, in the task bar manager there is no program hogging the resources but the hard-drive light is continually on and you can hear it working away rapidly in the case.
One other thing which is slightly puzzling me - when I went to go to Help and Support it said that the service had been switched off. I know i didnt do this. And when I enabled it and finally got on to the system restore wizard it was saying that no system restore points had been set up (I know they have). Also firefox had lost all its bookmarks and plugins etc so now I'm a bit confused.

I've scanned in AVG anti-virus
Lavasoft Adaware
Spybot search n destroy
and they have all shown nothing.

You have a lot of un-necessary crap.

That list should be 1/10 of that size.
Your system is bloated with un-necessary processes running in the background, all fighting for cpu time. Uninstall and remove startup items, trial and error. AVG does a version check at each boot by default, which can stall the system. Your at a gridlock in my opinion.

A:Yoga 13 with with windows 7 - Keep touch working?

I did this to a Lenovo Yoga 2 Pro: There should be up to three folders to look for in the root of the hard drive. SWTOOLS - Has a lot of the additional software driven components, Drivers - The factory default driver set (many of which will work in Windows 7), and an additional SW***** (something, can't recall of the top of my head). Back up these three folders on an external drive of some kind. Copy the factory restore items off as well, just in case to an external.Next, create the QDrive or Factory Restore disks for the machine. If you don't like Windows 7, at least this way you can get back to 8/8.1.The next is really up to how you want to install Windows 7. I used the ImageX approach, creating a Windows 7 Ultimate source machine with all of the software, drivers, and applications installed. I generalized that machine, captured out the Windows 7 build (which had all of those folders we copied from above). I then used the ImageX Apply method to put that generalized .wim image to the Lenovo.I had to put the BIOS into Legacy mode, and enable USB Boot. I booted from a WinPE 3.1 environment using a bootable USB I created for Enterprise deployments.Notice, I am skipping a LOT of details. Like what is a WinPE, how to make one, what is a .wim file and how to handle the boot partitions. If you are technical savvy you can save a lot of hassle and get Windows 7 onto the machine. If not, skip the whole ImageX and try to boot from an install DVD and do the build up from the externa... Hey everybody, I just received my P40 last week as a replacement for another Lenovo device. So far, everything seems to work fine with one exception: When I turn the screen over to the "tablet position", the touch screen and the touch pen show erroneous behaviour.a) As soon as I make the first input with the touch pen, I cannot make any further input with my finger, so the touch input is simply turned off. The Windows setting to ignore touch input when the stylus is used is not active.b) When I try to tap buttons at certain areas of the screen, especially at the upper edge, the cursor of the stylus starts jumping around and shows up at the lower edge of the screen. That means that when I for example tap on the "X" symbol in the upper right corner to close a window, I actually click on some of the symbols in the system tray in the lower right corner. This problem stops occuring as soon as the angle between the two case parts (screen and keyboard) reaches/exceeds approx. 40°. It does not matter if Windows is in "Tablet" or "Desktop" Mode. I already tried to manually install another Wacom driver mentioned at https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-S-Series-ThinkPad-Yoga/Wacom-Tablet-Service-for-ISD-Driver-Win... and https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/ThinkPad-P-and-W-Series-Mobile/P40-Yoga-issues/td-p/3293985. Hello, My Thinkpad Yoga is connected to a large display through ThenkPad docking station.  Its lid is closed.   During my work, from time to time I see random touch clicks on my screen, and random opening of menus.  It is clear that the touch screen is active although the lid is closed.  When I open the lid, and still connected just to the 2nd display (large screen) display the phenomena stops.  Worth noting is that although only the 2nd display shows an image, the laptop touch screen is still sensetive to touch.  This is I guess why the random touches show up on the screen -- it feels the keyboard not fingers. I expect the touch screen to be disabled while the lid is closed or when projecting only to the 2nd screen.  The solution of opening the lid while connected to the docking station is not acceptable.  Lenovo's local support suggestion to disable touch for the Yoga is also not acceptable -- people purchase Yoga to get Touch.   A solution please! Yaron

Hi

I have been incredibly stupid and changed the settings in my BIOS setup. What is even more stupid is I did this by making it "Load Optimal Defaults" so I dont actually know what has been changed.

As a result of this windows 7 now cannot start, it brings you to the error fixing part where it searches for errors, cant find any and offers you some more options including system restore. Ive done a system restore but that has also not fixed it. I have little idea how to fix this, windows 7 was working perfectly until I changed the BIOS, but not knowing what was changed means I cant change it back.

The BIOS version is: 4core1600twins-p35 p1.40

Any help would be immensely appreciated. Thank you very much!

Rhodri

A:Changed BIOS settings now Windows 7 wont start

Hi Rhodri and welcome to Windows 7 Forums

This should be quite easy to fix. All you need to do is to reset the BIOS to its defaults. Boot up and enter your BIOS. You are looking for an option to reset it to its defaults (this is NOT the same as Optimal Defaults). Alternatively, remove and replace the motherboard battery - this will cause all settings to be lost from the BIOS, so you need to make a note of your current settings on a piece of paper so that you can restore them afterwards. This will include the date and time. For details on how to do this, the location of the battery and whether or not there is a motherboard jumper that accomplishes the same thing, see your motherboard manual. Please ensure that your system is unplugged from the mains whilst you do this.

I got this notebook several weeks ago. Whatever the default audio settings were, they were fantastic. I opted to upgrade to windows 10. I had to upgrade to 8.1 first. However after both upgrades, the sound has been altered. Before it had a rich sound. Powerful bass but not overwhelming. Great clarity. absolutely great. Now it all sounds bland and lifeless.  like listening to a radio station in 1974! lol.   I figure there has to be a way to *even if I have to do it manually* to set the audio *equalizer* settings to what they were. I can  access my DTS sound still. But I try to do it by ear but its not close enough. Before the upgrade Every song played sounded better. When I try to tweak it, I cant get iet back to what it once was. some songs have too much bass and others sound tinny. Please help? Maybe there is a link that shows what the audio settings were before the upgrade or maybe  or maybe a link that shows the recommended seettings? Thanks in advance~Shaune

Three times when Windows 10 has done its updates, the touch screen has quit working on my Yoga 3. The first time, tech support had me remove several drivers which did not solve the solution, but caused the computer to no longer work. After restoring the system all worked well, but a few weeks later when the touch screen no longer worked again. Once again, the only solution tech support could offer was to restore the system, which I did again. After reinstalling all my apps, all was well until the next update. Now I again no longer have a touch screen. It's a big chore to reinstall all programs. I don't really want to do it again. Anybody else had problems like this. Is this a hardware problem in this particular computer? I can't find others with the problem.

I'm having the same trouble.  It worked for a few weeks after the Windows 10 update, but now I can't get it to respond to anything.  It's very frustrating, because this effectively nulifies the tablet capabilities which were a big part of why I chose this computer.

The touch creen for my 2016 Yoga 260 laptop has stopped functioning. I've tried updating the drivers, disabling and re-enabling the touchscreen, and restarting the computer. The touch screen is not disabled by power saving settings. There was some kind of error that occured 3 days ago, but I do not have the technical knowledge to interpret this output. I've attached a screencap to this post. I would appreciate if anyone has suggestions for what to do next. Thanks!

I Installed Office 2010 and this changed my Windows Update Settings Permanently.
I know it was due to some option I choose in the Office Installation ( cannot remember the name ), as I was able to avoid this issue with another Installation of Office 2010.
I want to reset my Windows Update to my previous setting prior to Office 2010 installation.
I have always chosen the Windows Update Option "Let me know of updates but chose when to download and install "
After installation of Office 2010 this is now set to "Never Check for updates" and the box is greyed out with no option to change and also now says "Some settings are managed by your system administrator". This was never the case prior to the Office 2010 install. Now I have to manually check for updates.
I have ran all the MS Fix It tools, etc and nothing has resolved issue.
I have now removed MS Office 2010 and the problem still remains.

That looks like the screen you get from an Standard User account, rather than an Admin account.

I can tell you categorically that Office didn't make the changes you're seeing there. It may however be malware.

Please download and install Malwarebytes Anti-malware (free version) from http://www.malwarebytes.org/products/malwarebytes_free/ - UNtick 'Enable free trial of MBAM Premium' at the end of the installation - and update it, then run a full scan in your main account, and Quick scans in any other user accounts.

Quarantine everything it finds

Im looking for a way to download the Windows 7 update files that i can execute on a machine, as i have several computers re-install but i cant afford the bandwith downloading them over and over again. I have tried on the Microsoft site with their update catalog, using IE but it always has a failed attempt when i click on the download basket.

Could anyone help me? Thanks.

A:Downloading Windows updates separately

I have also been looking at ways to edit system images, i've created an iso out of my disc. I've tried usig RT 7 lite, but after modifying and saving the file, i try them out in a vm, but they always seem to be the original installer, etc. Are there any alternatives to RT 7?

Hi

Erm , I don't really know how it started , but i think it had gone worse these days so im getting worried .

(i can 'press' the task manager button , but after that it doesn't appear and it gets worse , sometimes it writes that explorar.exe is using very high % of my cpu . )

3- Certain settings Did change like the 'no active audio mixers available' problem , i searched the Internet for this problem and i found the solution using services.msg , i turned it to automatic but after i restart it turns back to the way it is . (Note : the no audio mixers problem seems to appear only after i use the computer for some time , everytime i trstart it turns back normal)
- last time when i press ctrl+alt+del the task manager appears immediately , now , the windows security appears first .

somebody mind helping?D:~i think i did the right thing this time already><Hello siqilee,We ask that once you have posted your log and are waiting, please DO NOT "bump" your thread or make further replies until it has been responded to by a member of the HJT Team. The reason we ask this or do not respond to your requests is because that would remove you from the active queue that Techs and Staff have access to. The malware staff checks the forum for postings that have 0 replies as this makes it easier for them to identify those who have not been helped. If you post another response, there will be 1 reply. A team member, looking for a new log to work may assume another HJT Team member is already assisting you and not open the thread to respond. That is why I have made an edit to your last post, instead of a reply. Please do not multiple post here, as that only pushes you further down the queue and causes confusion to the staff. Please be patient. I recently replaced my motherboard on my Yoga 3 14 in laptop and when I got it back the touch screen did not work. I read through other posts about similar issues with touch screens not working and updated all the drivers under device manager but I cannot find a driver for the touch screen. I updated and flashed the BIOS update that was on the support page and the touch screen worked for a few minutes but after i rebooted the computer the touch screen did not work again.  Any suggestions?

Hi all, since the recent Microsoft Windows 10 updates from 09th may until today the Multi-Tocuh Display ist only working as a normal Display. The touch screen isn't working any longer an the integrated ThinkPen is also disabled. I use the Yoga in German and the text written in system properties is:Stift- und Toucheingabe: Für diese Anzeige ist keine Stift- oder Toucheingabe verfügbar. I tried to install all offered updates on the Lenovo support page at:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/py/de/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-yoga-series-laptops/thinkp...No result. Is there any new driver who resolves this problem ? Thanks for any response from the support team.

Hi,

Looking for advice on how to find where the touch pad settings may be hidden on this laptop I'm working on? I've looked in the control panel and there is no icon for touch pad and I've looked in the mouse settings without finding any options to change the settings for the touch pad? The laptop is an acer Aspire 5520-5912 running Vista Home Premium Service pack 2. Any ideas?

A:Can't find touch pad settings in Control Panel/Mouse settings anywhere?

Hi loki2007 Usually, Windows install it's own Microsoft Legacy Drivers for a touchpad on a laptop, and these drivers doesn't enable the "Advanced" settings that allows you to control the touchpad. In order to do that, you have to install the laptop touchpad drivers which will add that tab in the Mouse options.Download and install these drivers:http://global-download.acer.com/GDFiles/Driver/TouchPad/Touchpad_Synaptics_9.1.16_Vistax86.zip?acerid=633639058794305220&Step1=NOTEBOOK&Step2=ASPIRE&Step3=ASPIRE%205520&OS=ALL&LC=en&BC=ACER&SC=PA_4Let me know if they install or not.

Bought dell xps 9550 on March of 2016 and after a year and  2 months the touchpad is difficult to press and select text. Its kind of dissapointing to see this issue on this expensive laptops. Had owned sony vaio and other laptops and never had such issue. Called dell and no help due to out of warranty. The guy tried to convince me is not the battery problem and to sign up for warranty so i can ship my laptop to them. This is *** since i already pulled the battery out and can see it's swollen. Also the touchpad worked after laptop was off and the battery cooled down for some time. Whennit swelled up again and went to the same problem. Decided just to buy battery myself and change it out. Not getting another dell in the future.

Hello,

I have been using WLM 2011 for a couple of years now. Everything was good until last Thursday. I opened WLM and got an error about login failed. After checking my account settings, I noticed everything was now set up as IMAP. I called my ISP and they confirmed it was supposed to be POP3.

So... can I reset the account back to POP3 without losing my mail?

I did do a system restore back to a point a couple of days before this happened. No change.

Thanks for your help.

Hello Everyone on the forum,

We have set up an ICT Computer Lab and installed official Windows 10 Professional 64 Bit OS in a Core i3 Computer, with the purpose to teach ICT Computers to Children studying in grade 6 to 10 IGCSE Cambridge board. Our set up is as follows:-

Set up:- Windows Server 2012 + 10 Computers connected to server domain having OS windows 10 professional 64 bit + 24 port Switch for LAN networking etc.
Observation: What we have observed in last 2 months forces me to ask a question in this forum, because this matter is causing a lot of issue in normal day to day functioning. Every time a new user profile of s student is created, (even if Windows OS was updated just 3 hours back for a different old user), the system starts updating windows OS all over again for this new user profile.

Question:- (1) Does this mean that Windows 10 Pro OS maintains its OS and updates separately and individually for each user profile ?
(2) If Yes - Is there a way where we can configure the OS in a way where it updates commonly for all users including those that may be created in future?

Kindly do share your experience and knowledge for me to understand this scenario.

Thanks / Pinesh Mehta

Hello,I've a brand new Yoga 920 glass with win 10 x64 /lenovo vanatge fully updated, (included latest bios).the problem is: after long hybernation (overnight, typically) the fingerpint doesn't work at Windows Hello user login. and I must use PIN o psw.  If I try to replicate the issue activating hybernation and then start immediately again the problem doesn't happen. Also when in suspension it never happens (also because my lap is set to go in hybernation after 2 hours).TMore specifically, the option to login with fingerprint IS present, but laying the finger doesn't trigger - obviously - a "login" neither a "wrong" feedback, it just doesnt' happen anything.  I've tried to search the forum and google it, but no luck,I've already tried to do:1. Install Intel SGX latest driver on the support page2. Install Intel chipset latest driver on the support page3. Install Fingerprint latest driver on the support page4. Enter BIOS and change SGX settings to Software controlled: fingerpint login become unavailable at login. Windows 10 event log says:  It seems a problem of driver/service can't engaging... maybe because of power management? But I can't really find a solution. Suggestions?
