Mailbox quota

Q: Mailbox quota

I just now registered here because in trying to resolve an email problem I found a thread that was a couple of years old on this website that mentioned the same issue, but it didn't appear to be fixed at the time. I was migrating from a Windows 7 PC to a Windows 8 and everything transferred smoothly -- documents, photos, music, etc. Then I tried to set up my email. I entered all of the info (account, imap, smtp, etc.) and it all seemed to work -- and then all hell broke loose with about 100 messages saying I'd exceeded my mailbox quota. Looks like spam, and I marked it as junk, deleted it, removed it from the trash, etc. Did the same thing on the ISP website, and identified it as span there. Also checked to make sure the "leave a copy of messages on the server" was unchecked and cleaned out the other folders of things that were old. I've gone folder by folder to make one of them isn't stockpiling messages and there are none. It simply isn't possible that I'm exceeding my quota. I'm also getting messages (also from "admin," which Suddenlink say isn't them) that legit messages are being "bounced" because my mailbox is full. One of those just came in, so I'm hoping someone can help me figure out what the problem is, because my ISP (Suddenlink) has no idea what's going on. I've pasted it below the line. Help???

Message-ID: 1d21cefe-cfd9-11e4-b45a-44574fab1606

A message was sent to you that was returned to the sender(bounced)
because it would have caused your mailbox quota to be exceeded.

The following is the reason that the message was over quota:
Quota Type: bytes in the mailbox
Quota Available: 109
Total Quota: 56320000
The following is the information on the message that was bounced:

Sender: "Josh Nelson, CREDO Action" <[email protected]>
Subject: The chemical safety bill was written by the chemical industry?!?
Size: 22823
Message ID: 1d082940-cfd9-11e4-aac7-8898dd53d69e
Date: Sat Mar 21 09:46:53 2015
Reply-To: "Josh Nelson, CREDO Action" <[email protected]>
The message was bounced from the following folder:
INBOX

To fix this problem, delete some messages from your mailbox, and contact
the sender to resend the message. If the size of the message is too big, contact the sender to reduce the
size of the message and resend the message.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My organization is currently running Exchange 2007 in a test environment and I am now the first person to officially "break" their account. For some reason, my mailbox is over 400 Mb even after I've deleted absolutely everything in my all of my folders and recycle bin. My Outlook 2007 client reports that my mailbox is empty, but our mailbox quota of 100 Mb is still enforced if I try to send messages and I am alerted daily by our Exchange server that I am over my quota. When I log into Outlook Web Access, it displays the message stating the that I am over my quota and the size of the mailbox. The mailbox database on the server also records my mailbox size as over 400 Mb.

Any ideas?

A:Exchange 2007 Mailbox Quota Issue

It really depends on the configuration but few things to check or ask if you have IT guys:

If you have Outlook Web Access connect with that and see what the mailbox is like.

Assuming you've done this but empty deleted items, check if your in cached mode, check what type of mailbox you have or if a connector is running (IMAP, POP3 etc) disconnect and reattach the mailbox to the account.

Lots of other things to check but try those first.

Hello everyibe,
We have a hydride infrastructure, with E2016 onpremise and O365 (Exchange, teams...). On both sites we have the same users and separate created mailboxes.
We are migrating mailboxes from Ex2016 to O365 in phases to remove E2016.
Users on both sites have the same mailbox name. Example: E2016 [email protected] and O365 mailbox [email protected]

Issue:
When we migrate a user's mailbox to O365 and from ExchangeOnline we send an email to a non-migrated user, the email reaches the existing mailbox in O365, not the onpremise mailbox.

An alias has been created for non-migrated users in O365, marking themselves as main and we have tried to delete the default email address given by the username. But even if the latter is deleted, the deleted email address always appears, so the email always
reaches O365 and not E2016.

Is there any way that when a user with a migrated O365 mailbox sends an email to a user with a mailbox in E2016 onpremise, the email does not go to the O365 mailbox and to the onpremise mailbox?

What would be the solution to keep the default username (for teams solutions, etc) and to be able to modify the email in O365?

Thank you

Well, Here are my PC's specs' first of all:

Intel Pentium 4 3.0 HT processor
Asus Mobo (unknown model, w/ PCI-e)
Nvidia GeForce FX7200GS
Windows XP Pro
[Nvidia Drivers]

Well, a few weeks ago, I bought a new HD, and had a guy install XP on it. I told him that I had a license that was good for a new reinstall (It said 1-2 CPU on the sticker) and that he did not have to buy a new license.

Well, it was all good when I got my PC back, and it had a trial period of 30 days before I had to license XP, and being meticulous as I am, I change the date and time from somewhere in 2004, to the current date.

So, the next day, I reboot my PC, and now all of a sudden it says I must license XP before I can log in. So, I click Yes, license now, and a Window comes up that is blank and says: Windows Does not have enough quota to process this command.

Then it basicly goes in circles, me doing the same thing over again until I find that it isn't going to work.

Does anyone have an Idea of what may be causing this? I have already tried some new RAM, but that didn't make a difference... Help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Not enough Quota?

Boot on the XP CD, press 'R' at the first screen to access the recovery console and from the c:\windows\ command promt type chkdsk c: /R. This will check that there's no error with the page file.

The problem happens when you don't have enough virtual memory on the system drive, the virtual memory isn't the same as the RAM. Check and adjust your virtual memory settings : right-click my computer => properties => advanced => settings under performances => advanced => change.

If you can't login to make the changes, see if you can boot in safe mode (repeatedly press F8 when the computer starts) using the "administrator" account.

The computer may have been tricked to believe that the trial period expired, if you can't login at all then I'm afraid there's no way to change the page file settings nor the system date and time from the recovery console. You may have to reinstall again. Don't change the date, adjust the page file size and register with your product key.

Has anybody heard of any problems that relates some "Quota" error messages on win2k?

A:quota

p-dot,

I do not recall the error specifically, but I have seen MS Outlook 98 and Corel Photohouse give errors when starting Win2k if the user logged in as anyone other than "Administrator".

OR...

Could it be that both applications are trying to access files on a network file share that has reached a predetermined capacity limit? Is so, try clearing some files from the file share.

It might help to provide more information like the version of Photoshop and Outlook and how the user logged in to the OS.

good luck,

Greetings,

I use a 21Mbps broadband modem to browse the internet and apparently, my monthly quota finished faster than it should. When I use my kaspersky to check my network activity, I found many unfamiliar applications running in my laptop such as 67 connections of Kaspersky Anti-virus, pdtwzd.exe, 21 connections of AFSS Service, etc with some unknown local ip addresses. I also received some warnings about phishing websites when I was trying to make an online transaction. A thorough scan by Malwarebytes Anti-Malware did not reveal any suspicious activities.

My laptop is running Windows 7 Home Premium operating system and I am using genuine Kasperky Internet Security 2014, legitimate TuneUp Utilities 2014 as well as licensed Malwarebytes Anti-Malware software. Can someone please shed some light to counteract this lingering complication? Thank you.

* Your account has consumed too much memory.

The solution would be to optimize your applications to use less CPU.

lsass.exe - Not enough Quota
Not enough virtual memory or paging file quota is available to complete the specified operation.

Why the heck is this happening suddenly. The installation was done on a 80GB hard drive and I have 512MB ram. Is there somewhere a setting I can change to allow a large enough quota?

Thanks in advance.

It seems that I can't completely understand the Quota managemet in Win XP Professional. The System Restore needs at least 200 Mb or so on C: to work, right? So I use the Quota to limit disk space to 4.5 Gb (my C: i 5 Gb large). However it doesn't seems to have any efect: I can still put files and more files until all the space on C: is eaten up and the SysRestore suspends itself. I imagined that when I reached 4.5 Gb fullness ot the C: the Quota would deny me access until I freed up some space to meet up the 4.5 Gb Limit. What am I doing wrong?

Since yesterday, my Windows 7 netbook would not let programs launch, give me the option to shutdown/restart, and say things such as "cannot find file" or "access is denied" along with the most frequent "not enough quota to process this command." In safe mode, everything worked fine and I was able to access the msconfig.exe file to change the startup items. After wrestling with the problem, I eventually figured out that Comodo's COMODO Internet Security Helper Service was causing the issue. With it disabled everything is working like normal. I'm glad , but has anyone had this problem or know the reason for the strange behavior?

I would post this on the Comodo Support site, as they maybe more knowledgeable with the issue. It may just need to be updated.

Hi There

My brother has asked me to try and reinstall some software on his PC that wasn't starting up, and it seems to be failing because he's been playing about with the PC and has managed to remove all the XP service packs (if he ever had them) leaving just a vanilla XP install.

Windows update comes up with a thank you message and tries to point me to a Mac support page whenever I try to access it on his PC. Automatic updates don't seem to pull down any of the service packs, but do pull down some of the security fixes.. some of which install, some of which fail.

The end result is that i'm trying to download the SP's one at a time (from what I can gather, you have to do them in order?) and get them loaded onto his PC to get it up to date. I've downloaded a copy of the SP1 exe file from an external site and am trying to install it, but it's giving a 'Not enough quota is available to process this command' message when it gets about 75% of the way through unpacking the exe.

His PC has 768mb of ram, and the microsoft site advises ending as many apps as possible, which i've done, and then increasing the page file size if that doesn't work. The page file was set at 368mb, and i've tried increasing it to 2gb and 5gb but it still gives the same error. I've also tried activating/deactivating the quota function on the C: drive as well, which doesn't seem to make any difference.

Edit: He has a 70gb hard drive with 57gb of free space, so i'm guessing it's not a spac... Read more

A:Not enough quota error on SP1 install

Firstly, service packs do not need to be installed in order. Latest is SP-3 and includes all previous fixes/updates.

Secondly, if this were me - I'd trash this installation rather than try to fix. My advice is format the drive, reinstall the original Windows XP, then do the SP-3 upgrade. From this point you can re-install any software that is required.

OK. thanks in advance.. Im totally stuck on this and I consider myself pretty knowledgeable.

OS: win7

I'm trying to make a folder that will only allow 10GB in it, Once it reaches its 10GB max it will just automatically delete the oldest files to make room for the new ones.

Example: Subscribe to a podcast RSS feed, but only keep the latest 10GB of content and automatically delete the older videos/audio. So that way i always have the latest content but with no excessive HDD bulk.

Any solutions would be greatly appreciated.

A:Automatic folder size quota.please hep.

There are certainly ways to control quotas on volumes and directories depending on what OS you are running but I have never heard of any way to automatically delete the oldest file once it hits that quota. You would most likely run into some errors along the way. If the directory was at 9.9 GB's and a new podcast starts to download and hits the 10 GB quota for that directory the download will just error out.

I don't know of any way to do this without some type of 3rd party software that keeps track of your RSS feeds or Podcasts and the ones I have seen do not control that by directory size.

I subscribe to many podcasts with my Zune and I have the Software set to keep the last 5 episodes of most podcasts. After that it will automatically delete the old ones. I would assume iTunes and other types of software work this way as well.

If you really wanted to do something like this I think your best bet would be to have a batch file or vbscript run daily or hourly to check the size of the directory. If it is over 10gb's delete the oldest file. Have the script continually loop until the directory size is under 10gb's and then exit when the directory size is small enough.

I am configuring the Quote management for the C Drive in windows XP, and it allows to limit users quota to (insert number here) kb, mb, or GB.
I am wondering if i set that limitation, will it limit all users to that number?
lets say 3gb, so if 3gb is used, no one will be able to access the disk,
or, is it for per user, so every user gets to have 3gb.

Please let me know.

Thank you,

A:XP Disk Quota Per user, or All users?

Start | Help and Support, search for Quotas and users
Because disk quotas monitor volume use by individual user, each user's utilization of disk space does not affect the disk quotas for other users of the same volume. For example, if Volume F has a quota limit of 500 megabytes (MB) and a user saves 500 megabytes (MB) worth of files to Volume F, that user cannot write additional data to the volume without first deleting or moving some existing files from it. However, each of the other users can continue to save up to 500 MB worth of files on that volume as long as there is sufficient free space.
Disk quotas are based on file ownership and are independent of the folder location of the user's files within the volume. For example, if users move their files from one folder to another on the same volume, their volume space usage does not change. However, if users copy their files to a different folder on the same volume, their volume space usage doubles. Or, if another user creates a 200 kilobyte (KB) file and you take ownership of that file, that user's disk use decreases by 200 KB and your disk use increases by 200 KB.
For instructions on enabling disk quotas, see To enable disk quotas.

You need to use fsutils from a command line to modify quotas on a per user basis so that different users will have different limits.

Okay, so my computer is a dell optiplex gx260. I've had it for a week or two. I bought it off of ebay. It was working fine a few minutes ago. Before I turned it off I was running some cleaner program I downloaded off the internet(I needed space to run WoW). So then I turned it off, but when I tried to log back in I keep getting a message saying "this copy of windows must be vaildated with microsoft before you can log on. Do want to activate now?" If I hit no, I'm kicked back out to the log in screen. Then If I hit yes, A prompt comes up asking if I want to open/save the program actshell.htm. If I hit open I get a
message saying

"C:\WINDOWS\system32\oobe\actshell.htm
not enough Quota is Avaliabe to process this command."

Then A nice little white screen comes up, and when I close out of it It kicks me back to the login menu.

When I hit save It asks me where I want to save it. I put it in documents, but it doesn't open and again leaves me with the same white screen.

Oh I believe I was running Windows xp Home edition

I am getting this error on my server. And from the workstations the 'not enough server storage is available to process this command' error also comes up as well. The server is Win 2003 running AD and workstations are running XP with SP2. I suspect this could be to do with shortage of disk space on the partitioned disk drive that the data is stored.

Could anyone confirm this and or offer some other alternative to resolve this problem, pls?

Help!!!

Hello,

Brand new W7 user.

Two users on this new PC; myself and son.

Want to limit the amount of HD space he can use, or my 1 TB is going to be filled 100% with videos, music, etc. in short order.

So I went to the C: drive/Properties/Quota and played around with it some, but haven't actually applied it.

For me at least, it's not totally clear what happens, so would like to ask the following, please:

a. When I first got the PC a few weeks ago, I set up myself as a User.
But did not apply any Passwords or sign-in requirements for either of us..

A week or so later, I added my son's name, also, as a User.

Since there are no passwords, sign in Passwords, etc., am I considered the defacto Administrator (as I was "first") ?

b. It is not clear that if I set up a limit on this Quota option screen(s), is it applied to both of us, or just him (if I am considered the Administrator) ?

I thought that there would be some kind of screen showing both Users, and what their limits are, but apparently not ?

c. Can this be done without any Passwords, sign in Passwords, etc ?

Not too sure what else to ask.
Any other caveats or thoughts would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Bob

A:Quota Screen To Limit HD Usage ?

First if you are goinf to set-up any form of security system it must begin with passwords. if no passwords are present on at least your account then there is nothing to prevent anyone from logging in as you and renoving your security scheme.

You also will need to make the other user a standard account, all administrators (or actually regular members of the administrators group), have the same rights to change security items and everything else.

As for the quota settings this starts with the general screen that you set up the default entry on - applies to default/new users
There is also a button for quota entries - this is where you set the individual limits for each user.

If you have a 1TB drive you may also consider creating a separate partition for your son's data - use of permissions can then ensure that only that partition is accessible - your own partition may be made completely private.

I run a small (6 computer) network, some of the members of which don't have much disk space. My computer has plenty. Is it possible to share fully (i.e. enable writing as well as reading of files) in a folder, but limit the size of the file, say to 10Gb so others can backup/store files there, but without me ever having to worry that they're using too much space - the computer is my personal one that happens to have a large harddisk, not a server (so I need the diskspace!) I run Windows XP pro.

Thanks in advance,
Ed

I want to know what are the reason for this type of error while installing such programs?

Hi All,

Does anyone know what might cause this issue? I have defined max usage for the system restore to be ~46 GB, but suddenly Win7 reports that it's using 62 GB? (see the attached pic below)

I have had quite many installations lately, and Win7 tends to create new restore point for each installation, but shouldn't it be able to erase older restore points away? Or is there some rule that overrides the max quota setting that restore points has to be remained for a certain period of time?

regards, karote

A:System restore exceeds max quota

Hello Karote, and welcome to Seven Forums.

Was it already at 62GB before you set to 5% (46GB)? If so that would be why it's showing that.

If you do not think that you will need your current set of restore points and previous versions, then you could click on the Delete button them to clear and reset this and have it only use the max of 5% (46GB) again.

Hope this helps,
Shawn

A:{Advice Offered} - Low registry quota question...

Greetings

The registry key is:

HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\RegistrySizeLimit

It is in binary format. It is visible over the network, but you have to connect as a LOCAL admin of the machine to be able to change the value.

Hello,

I have a computer that keeps applying a storage quota to its profile each time it reboots. No group policy is set to enforce a quota and it appears whatever is doing this sets the storage quota via registry entry. I have tried running Malwarebytes and the machine does have AV on it but it doesn't detect anything. I am nearly certain this is some form of malware but no scanners appear to be able to pin it down.

Below is my DDS output and the requested attach log is attached to this post.

"How do you create a quota for a Windows 2000/XP folder???"

So If I want a certain folder say "C:\myfolder" to only be able to use 30megabytes of space how do I do that? (Or is it possible?)
