I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

My computer was having speed and crashing issues, i did a recovery to the factory reset using the recovery disks that came with my computer when I purchased it. The recvoery seemed to go fine.   I booted the computer with disk one, it ran and then asked for disk two, then installed the files downloaded, all great.  Then it said press continue for further installation, your computer will restart multiple times through the process. I pressed continue and my computer will not reboot but quickly moves to the following message: Boot device not foundPlease install an operationg system on your hard driveHard Disk (3F0)  I know this is a popular message so  have tried everything I could read online: 1)  all types of boot order variations from the system menu (F10)2) removing the hard drive and putting it back in (per HP)3) doing the recovery process with the disks a second and now third time My hard drive passes all the tests, it is located by the computer, it has no problems quickly being used for the recover process.  But vista does not start. There were no startup issues prior to the recovery exercise, so I feel the issues with start up is there. Any help would be greatly appreciated.Rob

Yesterday I tried to do a system restore to fix a Flash Player problem but I did not have restore points going back as far I wanted. I only had 3 Scheduled system restore point going back to March 23rd and 8 restores points done by Revo and various Flash Player install/unsintall restore point created while trying to fix said problem. I thought those 8 restore points might have deleted older scheduled ones but my maximum space hasn't been reached yet and I did not turn off system restore.

From what I read online, I have a crazy amount of space allocated to shadow storage so I was curious as to why I did not have more system points to choose from. Any ideas? Is there anything that can delete restore point besides turn system restore off?
Used 33 GB
Allocated 35GB
Maximum 87GB

Also when I went to select the disk to restore it said
Partition_1(C:) (system) Ready to restore
(Partition_1(C:) The disk cannot be found
I have two disks Partition_1 (C:) and Recovery (D:) which is the factory restore stuff and is locked so I don?t create points for this one.

The Partition_1(C:) (Missing) shows in the available disks in system protection. Should I just uncheck it?

A:System Restore Disk Space Usage and System Recovery

Hello pineapplegrunt.

Do you regularly run programs such as CCLeaner and/or Disk Cleanup? It is possible to delete restore points with these tools (and other similar ones).

I believe your problem is that System Restore points are automatically deleted, by default, after 90 days.

I believe there are ways to change this, although from the top of my head I think you have to use a third party application (to do this easily). However, it is not really recommended to keep such long system restore points, if you want an image of your drive going that far back, you probably should look into creating a backup image or something and not relying on system restore.

Can I ask what your flash player problem is, have you been able to fix that?

Hello,

I have a Windows7(Home Premium) pre-installed Sony Vaio Nw20SF/S laptop in which i tried to create Recovery disks(2 DVD's)... using Vaio Recovery disk Software(Inbuit). It stopped(or hanged donno) in the middle while creating the 2nd DVD then that was cancelled, but a new partition with no FileSystem is created for about 9.3 GB when i look in the Computer Management tool present.

Now, i have two questions to ask...

1) Does Sony Vaio models with Windows 7 comes with Hidden Recovery Disk Partition(D:... something like that or not)???
2) What to do or how to make use of the 9.3GB partition present???

I recently restored my system to restore point set prior to a failed upgrade to W10 . The restore was "successful" but then... When I boot up, I get normal login but when I enter my password system tells me it is setting up my desktop??  Then it stalls in never never land. When I  boot in safe mode I get my normal desktop but not much works including networking. Most anything I try yields an explorer  error message that the file or resource cannot be found, etc.  Curiously I can open any PDF file with Acrobat and I can even browse and load  other PDF files on the hard disk from within acrobat. I ran boot log and in fact most of the the drivers other than sysroot... did not load. I tried all of the repair options provided by HP and microsoft without success.  So I decided to restore using a set of disks I dutifully prepared when I recently moved my system.  Unfortunately the restore from disk option cannot find the boot file on disk #1.  When I put the disk in another machine I see a normal set of foders including one named "Boot"??I REALLY want to get my system back to what I had when I exeuted  the restore to restore point!

Hi guys, hope you can help me please. I'm not too computer savvy so sorry if I'm missing something important or I say something dumb. I'm really frustrated and I'm trying my best to learn and solve this problem.
So I bought this Vaio with Core i5-3210M, 4Gb Ram, Windows 8 64 bit. I had really high hopes for it, coming from an i3. For the first few weeks it worked fine, but then it started to freeze while watching movies. Then it started happening all the time, and the cooling fan became consistently noisy for working at full capacity.
I was used to opening task manager on older systems when this happened to see if there was a non-responding program and force it closed, so I noticed Task Manager offers some more features in Win 8. Here, I see that CPU usage is high, staying always around 70% and from time to time reaching 100. At this moment, the process taking the biggest slice is called VCS System Tray with 58%.
What's perhaps more concerning, is that Disk usage is almost constantly on 100%. And by this I mean it reaches 100 and stays there for long periods of time, perhaps up to 20 minutes, then it falls down a few seconds and up again to 100. During this time the computer is excruciatingly painful to use. To even open a program takes forever. When this happens, it seems that Chrome is at the top of the list of processes with most disk usage, with about 1-2Mbps, but this sometimes changes and the list can be led by System, Utorrent, Octoshape, VCS System Tray, Communication... Every 10-40 minutes, the application I'm currently working in [whither it be skype, L4D2, or firefox] becomes unresponsive, and after a minute or two, the window turns white, notifying me that it's not responding. This unresponsiveness quickly spreads to other open processes, rendering them frozen as well. I can still use the mouse, and it appears rainmeter still responds [updates, showing barely any CPU usage].

Steps I've taken to try and resolve this:
Using only one main program, still does it
turning the computer off and on again
Memtest is clean
chkdisk passes
MBAM/MSE scans return nothing
defragged
no memory overflows that I can see

While troubleshooting, I noticed that during the 'fit of unresponsiveness' the disk usage light on my tower is solid, but when I looked at the disk usage in the resource monitor, no processes whatsoever were using it [screenshot related]

If any more specifications are needed, I'll be happy to elaborate.
Thanks!

A:Frequent unresponsiveness, 100% hardware disk usage, 0% software usage

It could be indexing. What if you turn off indexing just as an experiment?

I live in belgium and naturally buy my hardware here. I don't, however, like to install my sotware in dutch as it's much easier to solve problems in english.
This means that I install an english windows 7 on my pc and I install english versions of software as wel.

Now, even though I do all this, I still get text in dutch both from the system and from software. For example, some error messages from windows itself are in dutch.

Can anyone explain to me how this is possible and how i can change it? It must have something to do with the hardware but when I install software in english, I expect it to be in English!

A:English installs on an english windows still in dutch

I don't think the hardware has anything to do with it. Question is whether you truely installed an English version. If that was an OEM installed Dutch Win7, then it is not part of the 5 language version (En, Fr, Ger, Span, JPN). You need a 5 language version installation disk to get full English. How did you actually install the "English version" - from what source.

Hello everyone, my first post here, i hope you can help.

My girlfriend has a new-ish laptop that came with Windows 7 Home Premium, and recently it had some issues. The issues have got worse and it turned out to be a stuffed drive, out of warranty, its basically stuffed.

I got a new HD and installed it, but when i went digging for the Windows disc that came with it i couldn't find it. Some googling tells me that this laptop does not come with any install discs (seriously, wtf?!) only some manuals and other paper work. There was however a recovery drive which i assume was a partition for re-installing windows and the rest of the included bloat ware.

Without a Windows 7 disc we could not install it on the new drive, so i downloaded an ISO on my machine and created a DVD, but the idiot i am, i downloaded it in the wrong language. I didn't notice the NL at the end of the file, which im assuming is Netherlands? Please excuse my language ignorance if im wrong.

I know downloading software is wrong, i dont need a lecture. I'm just not going to pay for another copy of Windows 7 because the scumbag laptop manufacturer wont even include a bloody install disc!

I have the product key of course, luckily the sticker on the bottom of the laptop was still visible.

Sure i could download another ISO, but being bad once is enough for me and our net is pretty slow, it took 4 days to DL this copy!

Hope someone can help!

A:Windows Installation Not in English, Can I Force It To Run In English?

I would download or borrow an English language Windows Seven DVD. Install it with no product key. You have 30 days to evaluate. Also you can extend that period several times. It's not illegal. See this tutorial:
http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials...-120-days.html

By that time you should be able to determine you have everything working and can then find out what you need to do for activation to keep it permanently.

My laptop (Lenovo Y500 Laptop | Lenovo US) has a 1TB 5400rpm hard drive C: and it also has a 24GB chached SSD D:. The link only shows a 16, but mine was 24. Today, I left my computer idle while I was at class (I'm in college) and when I came back it was frozen on the start up screen Lenovo Logo. As customary with computer problems, I turned it off and turned it on again. It booted up fine, maybe the tiniest bit slow, but nothing really different from the norm. But, when I opened up Chrome, my entire computer froze up after about five seconds, and I had to force shut down. This happened about 10 times (not just with Chrome, but with explorer and Task Manager too). Weird thing is, I only got one BSOD, for MEMORY_MANAGEMENT. When it magically started up without immediately freezing after the first click, I scanned for viruses--nothing changed. I CCleaned the temp files and registry--still nothing. I checked for fragmentation--0% fragmented. Once I finally got Task Manager open, I started thoroughly checking all the tabs. Here's what I found:

See how Disk 1 has C: AND D: ? I'm 100% sure that D: used to be on Disk 0. After some more freezing and rebooting, I discovered that Disk 1 maxes out active time to 100% really, really easily. Average response time maxed over 1000. Actually, I'm surprised my computer hasn't frozen since I started typing this post. It's that bad.

I have done a Google search and ended up at this HP site.

Question #1:  What this error code mean?

Does it mean a hard drive failure? If so, is there a compatible hard drive that I can use to replace it. I have read of users have replaced there hard drive with a 'hybrid' drive that will not function.

Question #2: Can I recover from this error? If so how?

Hey Guys,

Looking for your advice and any links if any...cheers in advance

My Situation

In December 2009 I purchased a Toshiba Qosmio X500 - Model No. PQX33A-00X00J

At the time I upgraded my purchase from Toshiba Reseller BD4U, going from the standard 1x 500GB Sata drive + 1x 64GB SSD... to instead having 2x 500GB sata drives. I purchased with 3 year onsite next business day warranty, that is is now expired.

It came loaded with MS Win 7 Premium Home Edition - but no disks provided.
My Needs
I need/want to factory reset my PC - its starting to run slowI need to re-partition from my existing 4x partitions to just having 2
The Issues
Possibly as a result of upgrading the disk drives at time of purchase, I don't believe I have a hidden Recovery partition in order to do a System Recovery from the Hard Disk Drive - see image of my current partitions attached I don't have Win 7 OS installation disks or Toshiba Driver disks as they should have been installed by Toshiba
My Questions

Hello,

I have started using my nice new Satellite T110-12. How can I create a recovery disk?

Why there is a frequent message about vibration has been detected, hard drive head disk has been moved to a safe position? Is there something wrong? Should I return it before the week is up?

Please answer, many many thanks!

A:Satellite T110-121 - Question about recovery disk and hard disk

Hi LindaMon,

> How can I create a recovery disk?
What about reading your user manual?
You need an 8GB USB stick for creating a recovery medium and preinstalled Toshiba recovery disk creator.

> hard drive head disk has been moved to a safe position?
Yes, that?s normal and everything is ok with your notebook. Your HDD will be protected by HDD/SSD Alert utility that is a nice feature from Toshiba to avoid head crashes and can enhance the life of internal HDD.
But yoou can disable these notifications if you want. ;)

I have a Qosmio G40-108 and it works fine although the disk drive is not reading disks any longer, possibly because of a motherboard failure as I replace the drive with a brans new one and it is still not working, but my problem is this..... I have the Product Recovery Disk , I tried to copy it on a USB and reinstall the OS from the USB and the software start loading a page with the Toshiba logo asking to insert the Recovery Disk in the drive F: that I can`t no longer use as it is broken. How can I prevent the disk from asking to insert the disk in the drive F:? Are there any lines on the recovery disk so that the laptop can install from the USB without using the disk?

I managed to install a generic Windows Vista 32 bit downloaded from a website and my serial key is working with it but I really would like to reinstall the original software
P.S. Product Recovery is for Windows Vista Ultimate 32-bit and just in case there is also a serial number on the disk GMR400766ENG

A:Qosmio G40-108 - prevent product recovery disk do ask to insert disk

I don't have experience with this but I found interesting article about creating recovery USB - http://aps2.toshiba-tro.de/kb0/HTD4103KB0000R01.htm

Maybe you will be able to create recovery USB stick. Check it out.

Hey. I wanted to do a software RAID1 to my current Windows 7 system disk. I saw a few tutorials and guides were this had been done.

I converted my present system disk (2 data partitions + system recovery partition + small boot partition?) into a dynamic disk. I was not able to mirror the disk because of the new Advanced Format sector sizes being different between the disks (old one 512 per sector, new one 4096 per sector). Anyhow.

I rebooted, and got the error "the boot selection failed because a required device is inaccessible"
When I boot the Windows 7 DVD and select repair, it can not repair the boot automatically.
It can not see the disk either.

When I boot into Hiren's limited XP, the Disk Management does only see a Dynamic disk - foreign. I don't know if that's my other disk or my system disk. It sees 1 dynamic disk, the USB stick where Hiren is running from and my CD drive. Screenshot at the bottom.
The Device Manager correctly identifies both disks.

At this moment, I have 2 HDD's connected. Both are 1Tb. One is the Samsung disk, with my Windows install (normally C:\) and a data partition (normally D:\). The other is a data disk (normally F:\)

When I boot into Linux, it does see my files and partitions. But it gives off many errors.

I suppose it's an error with the boot loader or boot partition? How can I fix this?
With the mismatch between sector size, I think I'll have to clone it onto a more recent disk, but it has to work, either as a dynamic or ba... Read more

A:Unbootable after changing to dynamic disk. Win recovery can't see disk

We only see problems with RAID and Dynamic disks here. Dynamic is intended to span a partition across multiple HD's. RAID isn't even redundant since many lose everything if one disk fails. So I would not do it.

I had a virus which McAfee virus removal could not remove. I then tried to perform a complete computer recovery using the recovery disks I made when the computer was new. That did not work and I got an error message saying that the disk letter could not be found. I then used the erase function on the recovery disk and completely erased the disk. The recover effort failed again with the same message. I tried to reinstall from an original windows disk of an earlier version (XP) but that failed with the message "not enough space."

The computer is a Sony VGN-CS215J or a PCG-3E2L (both model numbers are shown on the computer in different places) The OS is Vista.

I used the diskpart command to see what was on the disk. The following information was shown (not in this format)
Disk ID=00000001
Type = ATA
Bus = 0
Target = 0
LUN lD = 0
Read only = NO
Boot Disk = NO
Page file disk = No
Hibernation File disk = NO
Crash dump disk = NO

Volume ### Volume 1
LTR C
Label (blank)
FS RAW
Type Partition
Size 233GB
Status Healthy
Info (Blank)

Does anyone have any suggestions? I haven't quite figured out the syntax necessary to change anything. But the Boot Disk being NO and the FS being RAW raises questions in my uneducated mind. I had originally planned to just purchase a new hard drive, but read somewhere on this forum where someone had a similar problem but getting a new disk did not solve it.

Thanks for any help
Ray

A:[SOLVED] recovery disk can not find disk letter

It is showing that your HDD is RAW, meaning there is no partition or file system. You can either boot the computer with a Windows CD/DVD and Create a new partition, Format the Partition NTFS, do not do a Quick Format, (this takes longer but will test the integrity of the drive). and then install Windows. You can also prepare the drive with GParted Live CD. then run your Restore DVD.

Hi.
I want to know how to approach dell to get a copy of windows 8 operating system iso so that I can reinstall the windows on my laptop.
I have following questions regarding same:
1. What is the procedure of obtaining the Windows 8 operating system iso from DELL?
2. If dell can provide the requested, what are the charges for the same?
3. Can the OEM version of the windows 8 be installed to another computer? What I meant is that how many licenses does I get with OEM version or how many times I can reinstall the operating system during the life cycle of the product(Windows 8) using the same key?
4. If the license key is embedded in the hardware then can I use any windows 8 installer iso to reinstall the OS?

Thanks
Nitin

A:How to get the WIndows 8 installation disk/recovery disk from dell?

Hi Nitin,
The Windows product key is pre-installed in Dell systems. However may I know the reason why you are looking out for a disc?
If the computer is not booting up and if you want to request for a disc then you may use the below link:
http://dell.to/19q87KN  (For U.S only)
If the system is working normally, you may create a system restore disc by following the below steps in Windows 8:
(1) Move to mouse pointer to the top right corner and click on the search button.
(2) Select applications, type Dell backup and recovery and select search.
(3) On the left side you may click on the application.
(4) Once the application opens select recovery disc and create rescue disc.
OEM discs (Win8) can be installed on any Dell computers (if Windows 8 is pre-installed in that computer from factory).
It is suggested to use OEM image for re-installation purpose.

Hi, I have a toshiba satellite C650 that has recently come up with a disk read error. I want to access the command prompt to try some potential solutions that I have read about on the internet. I have made a Windows 7 recovery disk using my other acer laptop which also has Windows 7 installed. When I use the recovery disk and it has loaded the files etc it just brings up a black screen and the cursor. Does anyone have any ideas as to why this is happening? I tried booting my acer laptop from the recovery disk and it worked fine. Also does anyone have any suggestions as to why I am getting the 'disk read error - hit ctrl, alt and delete to restart' message? Any help would be much appretiated, thanks.

A:Disk read error and recovery disk not working?

Hi -- First go in and fill out your system specs completely. == Are both of the PC's using the same Win 7, Home Premium or whatever the case may be? Are they both OEM or Retail?

I am encountering a problem that is crippling my laptop. Over the past weekend I have been expierencing my laptop coming down to a standstill in processes it takes nearly two minutes to open up a page on chrome and running a game... forget about it. When I open up task manager it shows that 100% of my disk is being used but when I look at the processes using it all I see is System 0.1 MB/s. When i go into the performance tab of task manager and click on disk it reads:

A:100% Disk System Disk Usage with only 0.1 MB/s

Exactly the same problem - Acer Aspire One.
I was having performance problems and ran chkdsk which found some bad clusters. Next thing I know, I restart and Windows won't come up. I could get a cmd prompt going and copied out my files and reset the system. Still nothing. Finally got it going by turning it on and plugging in a recovery flash drive. Completely reinistalled 8.0. Installed 126 updates. Installed 8.1. Installed 26 updates. And now I'm smack in the 100% disk usage.
Tried setting Virtual Memory, which was small.

Thanks for the information, though it was not the answer I wanted, it lets me know what I now need to find out. I have a SONY VAIO 2GB Intel Processor Model No. VGN NS 110E with Windows Vista Operating System.

I received a message to run a disk scan, received a message there was a problem and recommendation to run a disk repair. Windows was unable to run a disk repair and recommended calling Sony Support.

I got much mis-information regarding the program from several calls and had a recent difficulty regarding my security system that did not resolve the problem after a long call and them removing a security system via online.

I ran the option, not informed to me from the Sony techs to rescue data. I ran this program several times and it keeps stopping on the same file, not at the exact same point. I had been erringly told from a Sony Tech that the program sitting on the same file for over an hour was normal and that it could take all day to rescue a mere 12GB of data.

The goal is to rescue/save to external drive the data that the c disk recovery program on the computer will cancel out when I do the c disk recovery which will put my c disk to the point of factory installation. The program states that other partitions will not be affected and my memory from years ago personal and main frame computer experience tells me that my documents and other files will not be touched and the partitions operate like a buffer protecting both the start up of the operating syst... I read somewhere that if your idiot computer vendors have given you only a Recovery Disk for XP, you can create a proper OS installation disk by copying all the files in i386 to a CD.

Does anyone know the complete process for doing this properly?

I have about eight directories called i386 on my machine (God knows why) which have different collections of files in them.

Also, how do I make a bootable system disk in XP?
