Solved: Photoshop CS2 versus Photoshop Elements

Q: Solved: Photoshop CS2 versus Photoshop Elements

Hi! I support two people with two different learning styles. One uses Photoshop CS2 and the other knows Photoshop Elements.

Will there be an issue for the two of them to collaborate on image edits if they each use the photoshop version with which they are comfortable?

Preferred Solution: Solved: Photoshop CS2 versus Photoshop Elements

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If they have any experience..... Nope...

especially if it's a newer version of Elements

Computer AMD Athlon[tm]XP 2400+
2.00GHz, 1.00GB of Ram.

System Microsoft Windows XP Home Edition.
Version 2002; SP2
A week ago I installed Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0. I like it and I want to keep it, but today I saw that I had lost from My Computer -

CD Drive (D:]
CD-RW Drive (E:)
DVD Drive (F:)

I wondered if the Adobe Photoshop 4.0 had something to with it so I did a System Restore - back to the day before I installed the programme. The System Restore was successful. It had removed the Adobe Photoshop and the three drives, D, E, and F, were back in My Computer.

To satisfy my curiosity, I reinstalled Adobe Photoshop and, hey presto, the drives D, E, and F, had gone again.

I need those drives so I removed Adobe PS with 'add/remove programmes'. But the three drives were still missing so I did another System Restore. That put the three missing drives back into My Computer.

I am in a quandary. I want to keep Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 but it seems that it does not like my drives D, E, and F.

Your advice will be appreciated.

Best wishes. whatapalaver.

A:Adobe Photoshop Elements 4.0 Versus D, E, And F Drives

did you get your copy from adobe website or from elsewhere, friend, p2p, whatever. if from anywhere but adobe the version you have may be corrupt in some way. try downloading the 'free tryout' version from adobe and see if that will run ok and also show your 'drives'.

if that version also 'removes' your drives, i would check the adobe photogroup newsgroups for similar occurances, and if so, there will probably be info of a workaround available to you there.

also, make sure you have all xp updates, and all other programmes are stopped when installing again, including your antivirus (scan installation file first, then disconnect from net before turning off av and firewall).

good luck

Any recommendations for a newbie to get up to speed with Photoshop Elements 7 and Premiere Elements 7 ?

I'm interested in DVD based tutorials or web-based tutorials. I googled and found so many forum based user support websites, that it's over whelms me.

I figured that I should develop a good basic foundation so I have a better idea of what I don't know. Also, I don't have a lot of extra time to "dink" around.

This evening I loaded a trial version of Photoshop Elements 7 from a disc supplied to me by Photoshop and that's when I found out I had no more E drive. Can anyone help? Please.....

I just "upgraded" from Photoshop Elements 2 to Elements 3 (I know they are older programs, but I am retired and cash is short). My problem is that I like to use the "Burn" and "Dodge" tools, and while the manual and on-screen help in Version 3 refer to these functions, and shows icons for them that I am familiar with in version 2, I cannot find those icons in my newly installed version 3. Any help will be appreciated. Thanks.

I have Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0 on Windows Xp. In an attempt to find out how the programme operates I clicked on HELP - and the various sub headings - such as Photoshop Tutorials- and Support and Registration. Clicking on these headings either had no effect - or threw up a screen which read:

No default web browser is selected for your machine. Please launch your web browser application or reinstall and try again.

I would very much like to follow the instruction - but I haven't a notion what it means. Is there a kind soul out there to help me out?

A:Solved: Adobe Photoshop Elements 2.0

Elements 2.0 is quite old (current is V7); however, it still should run.

Was Elements pre-installed on this PC? Do you have the CD? The help files are probably on the CD.

In any case, you do not apparently have a default browser. What do you use for a browser? IE? Firefox? Opera? Whichever it is, start it up and find in the tools or preferences menus where to set it as the default browser.

I have just been migrating photos for a collegue and he wants to keep the album structure he used to have
details are:

Windows XP with Elements v3 and 1000s of photos in album structure
windows 7 with Elements v8
I copied all the photos across from the "My Pictures" directory, but did nothing about the albums - now my collegue would like all the images put into the albums again - is there a way to migrate that information across from elements 3 to 8 a data file I need to copy
if it will not work with v8 - he will put v3 back onto windeows 7 and how to recreate the album structure

any advice please

Researching it appears I can use backup and restore catalogue
SO on the XP Elements v3, I should be able to backup the catalogue and pickup the photos from wherever they are stored, also use "reconnect"
then copy that backup across to the windows 7 PC
and then do a restore on the Elements 8 windows 7 machine - and choose a new location , to avoid any file structure issues between XP & win7

anyone done this - what tips or issues may i have
if i restore to
what file structure will elements use under photos - ?

A:Solved: Photoshop Elements Albums

All sorted today -
Performed a complete backup using PSE3 and used option to "reconnect"
then used PSE8 restore and new location

on the face of it looked like all the images now back into the correct albums and sub-albums
I told PSE8 on windows 7 to use Photos Directory , and PSE8 recreated in most cases the same name folder as the final folder on XP
c:\documents and settings\user\my documents\shared photos\christmas\christmas2006

so fingers crossed no phone calls tomorrow all went well

I bought Adobe Photoshop Elements 4 a few days ago and have installed it twice already. Each time, I register it and enter the registration code.

Within only a few minutes of installation, an error message pops up and says that my name, organization, or serial number is missing or invalid and the program must close. Then it exits without my being able to use it.

I bought this because I heard it was better and faster opening. Wrong info there. This program seems to freeze up and after a lengthy wait (much longer than versions 1 or 2) it finally appears. Then another wait before you can use it.

Anyone else having this problem with the program?

I have not attempted to reach Adobe support because past experience has shown that it is a waste of time. T

They like to sell a program at an inflated price then disappear from view until the next "upgrade" comes out. They always refer you to their next to unusable "forums" for help. Those seem to be the blind leading the blind so I don't bother anymore.

This is the first time that one of their programs has given me technical problems though.

I use "Elements" frequently and have had classes in it, but can't remember ever having any problem with a tool. On my computer the clone tool ,after sizing it and it appears as a circle, there is also a + the size of the circle that comes up with it and causes all kinds of trouble. It may come up inside the circle, touching the circle, follows the circle, or may be on the other side of the photo copy. If the cross touches some other tone of color, that's what comes up with my clone tool. Is the cross something useful that I don't know about. It's driving me crazy when trying to touch up some very old pictures that were pasted in an album and need touching up in the area they were pasted. Where did this cross come from? How can I get rid of it?
Any help is appreciated. Thanks, lilart

This program is driving me crazy. Every time it starts, a message soon pops up saying that it cannot find my serial number, registration, name, company, etc. and the program closes automatically.

This is not much of a hint about what is really wrong because I did buy the product retail, have installed and uninstalled many times trying to get this to go away so the program will run properly but nothing helps.

My older Elements 2.0 will install and run fine but it seems wrong to pay for a more recent program that will not run and have to return to the older more reliable program.

Of course, the Adobe company is far too big and to important to make it possible for paying customers to contact them for help in resolving problems with their "perfect" software.

In that way, they are worse than Microsoft and Symantec. I will not pay for support for a buggy and defective program even if that option was offered.

Anyone else experienced this problem?

My computer has an "old" hard drive(F:\) and a newer one(C:\), both with Photoshop Elements, v.3 installed. I was trying to access the catalog on C:\ recently and was blocked. I switched to F:\ and accessed the catalog although it was not up to date. There is an extra file in the catalog folder on c:\, My Catalog.ldb, that is not in the same folder on F:\. I suspect that Microsoft Access is involved. How do I fix it? I am trying to get rid of the old drive. My OS is Widows XP Home Premium.

I've constantly had this issue with Photoshop Elements 3 on my laptop. Every time I start up the program, when its scanning for plugins, a whole slew of Plugin.dll errors shows up stating that the program cannot locate those plugins in the plugin.dll file. These errors actually effect all of my filters, such as the render filters and many other filters in the filters menu making them unusable. Not only does this limit my use of the program, but having to click through all those error messages during startup gets tiresome. What is even more odd is that I have had this issue with Photoshop CS3 and seeing that i'm getting Master Collection soon I have no idea what won't work. Any help would be great.

As a side note, I've tried everything: repairing the OS, reinstalling Photoshop Elements (and doing that weird preferences reset thing), copying the plugin.dll and the msvcrt10.dll into the system 32 folder, using windows installer cleanup to try a fresh install (that didn't do a thing). I cannot seem to resolve the problem.

I recently downloaded Adobe Photoshop Elements 3.0, 30-day trial version. However, when I click on Setup.exe, the cursor turns to an hourglass, and that's as far as I can go! When I try to close the program I get a message telling me the program is not responding, so I click End Program to go back to my desktop.

I've tried Setup.exe several times without any luck. Shutting down and restarting didn't do any good, either. Perhaps I should try uninstalling and reinstalling the program one more time. I would appreciate hearing from anyone with any suggestions as to what I should try next.

I had been trying out Photoshop Elements for a 30 day try-out disc from a library book. I liked the program and just purchased the new software. I had deleted and uninstalled the first program but when I installed the new disc I still had the try-out version with my saved images on my computer and NOT the new version. I don't want to be left with this try-out version because it does not have all the options of the regular program. For instance I cannot connect to the Adobe Website from the trial version nor can I run the tutorials offered with the regular version. I see you use XP. You can use it's built in printer function. Just find the pic(s) in the folder you want to print and right click on it. Select " print " and follow the instructions. At least you'll get the job done before Christmas and you can work on the problem later.
