In game Graphics driver issue

Q: In game Graphics driver issue

Hey guys! I was wondering if you could help me!

I have, a few days ago formatted my pc. Now it's come to installing my stuff (stuff being a very techincal term ) Anyway I have installed one of my games that is prob the one I need most. MOHAA. But this is what it looks like in game

Not very useful to me... I don't actualy get to play the game much to be honest but I do admin a couple of leagues and need to go in and be able to spectate games regular.

I have had this problem before after formatting it is not a dodgy format or anything along those lines. How I sorted it before I really don't know I was messing about with it for about 3 weeks and sorted it by accident

I have installed all drivers from the my cards CD and it still looks like that above.

I have also used the ati cat uninstaller and then gone to the site and downloaded lastest cat.

I am just about pulling my hair out now. I really don't have a clue.

I am using a ATI 9600
Windows XP
Service pack 2
AMD Athlon XP 2200+ 0.79GHz
768 MB RAM

Could anyone help me? Please??

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: In game Graphics driver issue

Do a full format, then install Windows, Service Packs, motherboard drivers and then the latest Catalyst drivers from ATI's site. The drivers that come with video cards are always out of date.

Well to start with a few months back my computer started playing up by well basically shutting off both of my screens and displaying odd and random colours and lines accompanied by a high pitch sound.
Since then my computer stopped posting so I switched the MB, RAM and CPU.
I left the graphics card the same which was an X850 Pro. Since then this problem keeps occurring and I can not even load up games. I have just replaced my graphics card with an X1950 Pro and the problem still occurs.

My old spec:-
Asus A8V Deluxe
AMD Athlon 64bit 3200+
Maxtor SATA 250GB HDD
ATI Radeon X850 Pro
SB Audigy 2 ZS
1024 DDR RAM

My spec:-
Gigabyte AM2 Socket
AMD Athlon X2 4600
SB Audigy 2 ZS
Maxtor SATA 250GB HDD
ATI Radeon X1950 Pro
1024 DDR 2 RAM

Also when running the computer with my on board graphics driver I do not ever receive any problems. Sorry I was not more help with the system specs if need be I can do some digging around to find them all.

A:Graphics game issue

Did your original problem start with the update of catalyst driver from ATI?

Did you keep the same HDD?
If so you are going to have fun updating your drivers.

the other thing is do you have DirectX 9.0c
and doesn't your vid card plug into the AGP slot? If yes to both install catalyst driver 7.7 instead of the newer version 7.8-7.10 don't 100% support AGP. ATI neglects to mention that anywhere on their site or troubleshooting pages.

I'm running a dell inspiron 1545 (vista 32).

When I try to change the display settings I get the error message "the currently selected graphics driver can not be used (written for a older version of windows)
When I run dixdiag I get the error that direct input isn't responding.
I tried to download drivers from intel but I got the error message that my machine doesen't meet the system requirements (I'm not entirly sure I picked the right software)

All the drivers from the dell site appear to do nothing and I've updated from direct 9 to 11.

Hello everyone!

So, today i bought my first laptop with windows vista on it. The configuration is as follows:

Toshiba Satellite P505D-S8935

AMD Turion? X2 Dual-Core Mobile Processor RM-74, 4GB DDR2 800MHz, 18.4" widescreen HD+ with TruBrite? Technology 1680x945 (HD+) ATI? Radeon? HD 3200 256MB-1662MB,HDD 400GB, DVD-SuperMulti (+/-R double layer) with Labelflash, Webcam and microphone, Realtek? 802.11b/g/n wireless LAN, 3-USB (2.0), 1-eSATA/USB (2.0) , Windows Vista? Home Premium (SP1, 64-bit)

As I am a fan of videogames, i tried installing a few after i have updated my video drivers only to be disapointed... I have instaled Prototype, Sins of a Solar Empire and Torchling. They all had the same problem - parts of the screen were filled with tilting squares and lines just as shown in the picture below.

I tried to start S.o.a.S.E with compatability mode, but then i didnt even get to the intro page (the game froze). I managed to start Torchlight with compatability mode (Windows XP SP 2) but the problem was still there.

Any suggestions on how to fix this? Thank you all!

Wow - Thats strange. Definetly some odd artifacting..

Try doing a power cycle - Take out the battery/AC Adaptor, press and hold power button for a full minute and 30 seconds. Power it back up and open a game. If this doesn't resolve the problem,

I recommend trying to reinstall Vista -

Generally the way to start an FFR on a Toshiba is to turn it on while holding down the 0 key..

If that won't do it,
Theres a physical issue with the GPU it seems

Good luck..

I have this problem up to 5 times a day while playing Counter-Strike:Global Offensive where my graphics drivers crash even minutes after launch and then it proceeds to sometimes say "Display Driver Stopped Responding and Has Recovered". This however seems to be false because if I try to reboot a game it proceeds to BSOD me with the atkimpag.sys error.

I really need this fixed because I am going to a LAN even this month and it can't happen.

Attached is my file dumps etc.

Hey everyone, been a while now

So i got a new computer, happened to be an emachine. Knowing that emachines usually fail within a year, I replaced the powersupply with a Rosewill 300w ATX Power Supply. Since my older computer fried due to a powersupply failure, I decided to test my old parts in the new computer. I added 512MB Kingston ValueRAM, a GeForce FX5500 PCI Video card, my old hard drive from my old machine, and a new optical drive, a CD-RW 48x drive. After installing and configuring all the parts, and chaecking that all the parts worked, I went on to play World of Warcraft. After about 2 hours of play the screen began to flicker, and my framerate went down to around 7 fps. Then the screen went totally blank and the monitor read [[NO SIGNAL]]. I tried installing the latest drivers for the video card, but the same problem happened again. To me, it seems like it was overheating. The fans were running at full blast. What do you guys think?

Thanks in advance

Hey guys,

I've been having a problem with my switchable graphics ever since I installed windows 8. The problem is that my main graphics card (AMD Radeon) isn't working (a little yellow exclamation sign next to it on device manager) and only my Intel graphics card is functioning. So I heard about Leshcat's custom graphics driver and tried installing that. It seemed to work properly after that. But apparently after I restarted my laptop, windows reinstalled a graphics driver from its repository and the problem is back. Is there a way to stop windows from reinstalling over the Leshcat driver? or any other solution you guys could recommend?

Hi, just wanted to say I'm very very new here.

A few hours ago I was cleaning out my laptop and accidently uninstalled something that I did not think was important but it was, because part way through the uninstallation, my resolution of 1366x768 suddenly switched to the lowest resolution I have. I tried switching it back to the highest resolution by right clicking and selecting 'screen resolution', but I no longer had the 1366x768 resolution. The highest one I have now is 1024x768 and it looks stretched and not right at all. I also noticed that my graphics card is no longer recognized as windows now refers to it as 'standard vga graphics adapter'. I tried installing the driver for my graphics card from the AMD website but nothing happened and i have absolutely no idea what to do. Help? ):

I'm running with:
Windows 7 64-bit
AMD hd 6520g

edit: fixed! I did a system restore to before I accidently uninstalled whatever it was that i did.

You may want to try re-installing the OEM driver from the manufacturer's website.

I'm not a computer expert, but I believe my problem is related to my videocard.

Ever since I upgraded to windows 10, my computer has been crashing.
It will run for about an hour (though the time varies greatly), then it will stutter, (games or videos will lag, and the sound will echo) right before the display turns off (without any error messages and without shutting the computer off). After 10 minutes the computer will automatically restart if left alone.

These are my specs:

OS: Windows 10 Home 64bit
Processor: Intel Core2 Quad CPU 2.83GHz
RAM: 8.00gb
Graphics Card: Nvidia GeForce GTX 555

I've tried doing a clean re-install of the operating system. Updating windows 10, along with the latest Nvidia Drivers. (I used the GeForce Experience program to download the appropriate driver).

Nothing I do fixes the issue.
One thing I haven't tried is reverting back to an older OS, to see if the issue lies with windows 10. But I would prefer to avoid that. I've had this computer for five years, and I've only started experiencing these issues after the upgrade.

Let me know if you need any more info. Again, I'm not that knowledgeable with computers.

Sounds like it is getting hot and undergoing a thermal shutdown then automatic restart when cooled.

I recently had my computer crash due to "display driver" issues. It took me about 2 weeks to finally figure out what was going on.
Today, i reinstalled windows 7 home premium on my parents computer with my HD to finish installation (the display driver caused installation to fail)

When i put my HD back into my computer, it booted up just fine the first time. Then after i booted again right after, the screen was blank.

So i reboot, it goes through the welcome start up screeb, then right after (user acc log in screen) the screen goes blank and only the mouse arrow shows up. I tried to boot into safe mode but it did the same thing.

Is this a graphics card/driver error? If so how can i fix it?
I'm about to put my HD back into parents comp, so can soneone tell me what to do from there?

Much appreciated.

My issue seems to be a common one but after several suggestions and tips I'm still getting a warning message when I restart my computer. The message reads:

The Catalyst Control Center is not supported by tthe driver version of your enabled graphics adapter. Please update your ATI graphics driver, or enable your ATI adapter using the Displays Manager.

What I've tried already was enabling the adapter in the display/device manager, and I saw in another thread to use the MMDotNETSetup mod in the install process of the new driver. I followed the steps from here http://www.hardwareheaven.com/modtool.php yet my problem still exists. I even made sure the UAC was turned off.

Can any one help me, and tell me what I'm missing, I'd be extremely greatfull if this can be fixed ^_^

Hello,  I have the Lenovo y40 with the intel i7-4510 and wthe AMD Radeon R9 M275 graphics card. About 1 month ago, I was in the middle of a game when my computer just shut down and gave me a blue screen. Since then, I have been unable to run my computer with the graphics driver enabled. At first, I thought it may be a driver issue and have tried both the Lenovo drivers from their page (which seemed a bit outdated) as well as the AMD drivers from the website, neither of which have worked.  Furthermore, I did do a fresh install today in hopes that would fix it, however, it did not. I get the same thing, the moment it recognizes that the AMD card is working I get a BSOD.  Some of the error codes that I have gotten with the BSODs are as follow: THREAD_STUCK_IN_DEVICE_DRIVER, BAD_POOL_HEADER, KERNAL_SECURITY_CHECK_FAILURE, SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION, BAD_POOL_CALLER, VIDEO_TDR_FAILURE, and KMODE_EXCEPTION_NOT_HANDLED (NTFS.sys).

Hi there,
new build (I'll get right on updating my machine specs) and a few months down the line I'm getting seemingly random lock ups, the display will stop changing and just display one frame for some time, go completely black, and then come back on as if nothing happened, used to pop up with a message from the Catalyst Control Centre (the ATI interface/program for the card that I can adjust settings on) saying that everything stopped responding.
any ideas on a solution? I've updated the drivers since the issue started, and the issue did start about a week or two after I re-housed the components (case upgrade)
but seeing as it was fine immediately, I'm in two minds as to whether it could be a hardware failure, and the frequency of the events is random, ranging from nothing at all one day, to one a minute.

I'm way over my head here, so I don't know where I might get crash records from if there are any created for this type of incident, im used to a fine pc or a BSOD every 2 seconds, any help here at all would be great

Hello, community. My model is a 20DM000VUS, that's the one with the Intel HD 4400 and the Nvidia GeForce 840m.The display is driven by the Intel HD 4400, and I am not having any problem with that. The issue is that sometimes when I start a program using the Intel HD graphics card it either stutters a lot, freezes or stop completely. The mouse and stuff still works and I can close the program. Here is the message I recieve.I get it everytime I start a call in Skype, or run something a bit demanding... I never got this message in Windows 8, probably because it was the right driver, but I don't recall updating any Intel graphics drivers after I got to W10. The strange part, is that Intel Driver Update Utility tells me that installing their software update for this GPU won't work becuase I have a custom driver from Lenovo. Is that correct? Any ideas? Heard of any updates anywhere? Thanks in advance

I've seen others online with this issue, posted on the HP site with high hopes in a response, and am hoping to get to the bottom of this issue.

Bought my Dv7-6195us around August (2011) and started having these exact same issues around the end of September.

My setup is included in the .txt file attached to this post.

I have done all of the tasks and suggestions that are given on the HP site, updated all of my drivers (that HP provides on there website, that Intel provides on their website, and that Windows Update detects), removed any possibly problematic new software (had my current setup all installed on a desktop machine before (custom built) with absolutely no problems whatsoever), ran the lastest anti-virus-malware-rootkit detection and found no errors or problems, did multiple Memory, HDD, and periphreal hardware tests all passing 100% successful with no errors reported everytime they are run, have ran SFC in command prompt and it comes up clean, no errors, and have tested both "Fixed" and "Dynamic" modes in the new BIOS update for the video setup, which doesn't seem to alleviate the problem.

Alright, that being said, here are the exact symptoms my comp. demonstrates when having this problem. Some sort of video processing is occurring at the time of the BSOD. It could be playing a video in either Media Player or VLC, Skype video-chatting, or the like. I haven't experienced the problem while watching in-browser videos, like on YouTu... Read more

Hi and Welcome -I searched the Microsoft Windows 7 forums and found this answer that fixed one "Error 0x490" problem. - - -Your boot information is bad. afaik, you will have to do a startup repair to fix it.I could not find a MS link for this but I found this >> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/668-system-recovery-options.html to boot into the recovey options >> (USE METHOD 2 !!!)and this >> http://www.sevenforums.com/tutorials/681-startup-repair.html to do the startup repair which actually looks at things like MBR and the BOOT folder. As with anything of this type, I strongly recommend backing up anything and everything - create an image of each and every partition.Hope that helps. How did this happen? I rather suspect that something happened, the system rebooted, and stopped at a screen which had something like system repair as a default, the timer went out, it did its thing, and unfortunately incorrectly. i have lost opsyses that way.I strongly recommend always setting:Control Panel / System / Advanced System Settings / (System Properties) Advanced tab / look at "Startup and Recovery" , click settings button - in system failure: uncheck "automatically restart"This will enable you to see any errors that are causing a reboot.See if the information is any help to you -Regards -

I bought this laptop for my mother around 2 months ago, and up until she moved house recently, she always had it plugged in to an external monitor via VGA. When she moved house and the laptop was unplugged, I'm not sure if display settings were changed and the laptop had been turned off, and whether this is the cause of my problem, but now the laptop doesn't recognise it's own screen, and says that a monitor is the primary display when plugged in via HDMI. I think that the issue is that I need to re-install the graphics driver, but I am not sure which one to download and install. There are 4 options on the HP support website: - AMD/Intel Switchable High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver (American, International)  - Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver (American, International)- Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver - Broadwell/Skylake (American, International)  - Intel High-Definition (HD) Graphics Driver - Bay Trail-M (American, International) I am pretty sure it is not the first one, as this laptop is Intel rather than AMD, but from there I am not sure which of the other 3 is the correct one. I have downloaded the second one, but I don't want to try and install it in case I lose all function from the laptop. Any help would be appreciated, cheers!

A:HP 250 G4 Windows 10 Intel i5 Laptop Graphics Driver Issue

Hi: You should be able to press the F4 key to toggle the display you want to see. Just keep pressing it until you get the notebook display to show up. The graphics driver depends on what processor your notebook has. Bay Trail is for the notebooks with Pentium/Celeron processors and the Broadwell/Skylake is for the notebooks with Intel 5th and 6th generation Core processors.

Hello there! New to the forums....

I have an intriguing graphics driver issue that has come up since I did a fresh install of Windows 8 Pro with Media Center on my Toshiba C655-5225... It seems that Toshiba does not have an "updated" graphics driver for Windows 8. The default Microsoft driver has a few issues. The screen likes to flicker a lot and sometimes text becomes "garbled" and such. I have gone though Intel's site looking for the driver, but the download only updates the "SATA controller," not the graphics driver. I have attached two images displaying what the graphics card is and the driver versions. I hope someone is able to help me find an updated Intel driver so that these icky bugs can go away. It's the only true thing that is avoiding me from loving Windows 8 on this laptop. I can provide more information if it's needed.

So, here's the specs:

PC: Dell Studio XPS 1640
Graphics Card: ATI Mobility Radeon HD 3670
Application: Photoshop CS5 64bit
Windows: Windows 7 Ultimate 64bit, SP1

Here's the issue:
I cannot use certain plugin's on Photoshop. The error I get for one in particular (OnOne) is " Phototools requires a video card that supports OpenGL 2.0 or greater "

In Photoshop CS5 I get this error under the Edit>Preferences>Performance Options>GPU Settings menu ; " No GPU Options Available With Photoshop Standard "

What I know about this error so far is it's a general error and 90 percent of the time it means there is an issue with the graphics card or the driver. I read this on an adobe forum as well as the quote below..
If OpenGL and 3D are grayed out - then the card or driver do not support the necessary features.Click to expand...

Another Adobe quote to clarify the error:
Unfortunately the wording in the performance preference needs rework. There is already a bug logged, but it was found too late for changes to be made.

There is no Photoshop Standard, just Photoshop and Photoshop Extended. It also fails to clearly note the condition. I apologize for the confusion it has caused. Photoshop and Photoshop Extended both support GPU acceleration features for supported cards.

The intention was to communicate that under the current conditions Photoshop can not enable any GL drawing features. Click to expand...

Today, while watching a video my Lenovo laptop (20236 serial number) it just blue screened.I didnt get to read a lot of it because it restarted my laptop very quickly but i managed to get a app thing that was able to read the dump file.In the Device Manager i realised the error was from my Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver.I went online and reinstalled it.After the first bluescreen no more blue screens happend but my windows seem to have a weird trail behind them when i move them over anything(icons on the desktop/other windows)
and anywhere i go watch videos they seem to lag(i thought it was a refresh rate or frame rate issue from the graphics driver).I pretty much can see the line in the middle of the screen where the pixels are changing between frames. After reading the dump file i got this information:

Hello all!

New to the forum so kindly excuse any noob-ish behaviour.

The issue is this:
Sony notebook (model PCG-9R6M), running Win XP. Recently formatted hard drive and re-installed Windows. Now I've been issued with a generic display driver and it's not performing up to the standard it was previously.

I need to find out how to identify my graphics driver (preferably without trying to open up my laptop)

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Evidently there are some really awesome games in the metro store, but I wouldn't really know because they all either fail to load or BSOD. Notable exceptions: Pirates Love Daisies, which is great and doesn't crash my system, and Cut The Rope, ditto. Mah Jong runs and is an ok game.

Some games (Trump, and Carmen Sandiego) loaded before I figured out how to install my manufacturer's graphics driver, with Win8 running the Microsoft Basic Display Adapter. MBDA failed to recognize my screen's native res of 1366/768, and set the res to 1024/768 (stretched). After updating the driver to Intel GMA 500 both games will launch, but then stall out on the loading screen, eventually reverting back to metro/start but still trying to load in the background.

Other games (Hive Mind) launch and load, but then BSOD when you try to play.
Cut the rope runs but gave me a low memory warning then ran perfectly without any lag.

All in all, this is really a lot of app failures considering that these games are supposed to be optimized for tablets.

A:So many metro games crash, screen res or graphics driver issue?

You've said the magic term: BSOD

We will fix your machine easily for you. Please see the Crash And Debugging subforum. The top thread details what you have to do so we can fix it.

As a follow up to my previous post In reviewing other sites, it appears that the start of this problem for me occurred around the same time that Microsoft did their major upgrade to Windows 10 in the middle of November. To big of a coincidence! Apparently with this new upgrade, all prior updates to Windows 10 were cleared and no longer are listed, to explain my earlier comment regarding update history. For the record, my Windows 10 now reports as     Edition:                Windows 10 Home    Version:               1511    OS Build:             10586.29    System Type:    64-bit operating system, x-64-based processor

Hi all first post here so please correct me if I some how mess something up.

Been getting BSOD at random intervals and need to fix it ASAP.

Things to note:

-No BSOD in safe mode
-CPU is running at 90% at idle in normal mode (around 5% in safe mode)
-Defragged the computer for close to 16 hours without a single BSOD, however BSOD are far more frequent since then.
-Graphics card fan is extremely loud in safe mode

STOP: 0x000000D1

Graphics card is a ATI Radeon 6770
CPU is an AMD phenom II quad-core

Crash dump zip should be attached, but please let me know if you need additional information.

Thanks, Finn

Hello, I recently bought a Thinkpad X380 and installed the CAD software Solidworks 2017 on it. I don't expect the laptop to have the performance of a CAD work station, but the performance in Solidworks is so poor that I actually cannot do any simple 3D modelling. I suppose there is a problem with the driver of the Intel UHD 620 graphics card.I'm currently using driver version Does anybody have any experience with this issue? Is there a way to request a driver update from lenovo? Thank you in advance! RegardsSebastian

My encrypted Thinkpad T470 (2yrs old) has suddenly begun "crashing" during use. This doesn't seem to be triggered by any particular programs or user behaviour that I can identify, and once it happens it will occur again relatively soon if I restart it without a long rest. What happens is that the screen goes black, and white boxes flicker in and out. Sometimes I see white lines near the top, which I associate with graphics card issues, but I've never seen this white boxes pattern before. The laptp will not project on an external monitor, so it's not just a display issue. It does not fully shut down when this happens, but rather requires a force quit in order to restart. It restarts normally until it crashes again. Any ideas on what is happening here? Am I on the right track to suspect graphics card issues? Thanks.

I have tried uninstalling reinstalling downloading setup from 4 different places. I have updated my winxp in a futile attempt to get it working but still have problem. The open warrock file works then the g1 page comes up and I press the enter button, hackshield starts fine then I get the wallpaper before you get to logon screen with servers.at this point ratherthan tabs to choose from I get a black screen. Hello. Let me start by saying that I'm not all that knowledgable about graphic cards, graphic drivers, and my current issue. I bought this PC roughly 2 years ago and customized it, so it's i7-4700MQ 2.4GHz, 16GB DDR3, 1TB HDD, AND it's suppose to have 2Gb Nvidia GeForce GT 740M dedicated graphics. I just recently started getting into PC gaming (i.e. Steam; Rocket League, H1Z1, etc). I've only had seldom issues playing rocket league, but the problems arose to when  I tried playing H1Z1. It was very slow and my fps weren't high either (even on low/medium setting). I started doing some research about why that would happen and it has to do with the graphics, so I tried checking out the graphics on my PC, but all I could find was the intel HD graphics info and control panel. I've read information that sometimes there could be two graphics in a PC so it either uses one or the other, but I can't seem to detect the nvidia hardware through the driver nor find any control panel. It says processor graphics in use is intel HD graphics 4600. I believe this laptop would've had the graphics incorporated with the motherboard or something so it would not be replaceable or removeable, but I don't seem to have it at all? My PC even has a little Nvidia GeForce sticker logo on it under where the intel inside core i7 sticker is next to the fingerprint reader. I currently have windows 10. Does anyone know what the issue is or was I just ripped by HP or something? ...
