Lenovo Z500 Ideapad Opening Tool Directions?

Q: Lenovo Z500 Ideapad Opening Tool Directions?

Hi all thanks for taking the time to read my post I own a basic lenovo ideapad z500, the 4gb ram version with i5 Processor.I was interested in upgrading the RAM in the laptop, using CRUCIAL Memories diagnostic tool, I wanted to order another 4gb of RAM to help speed the laptop up. What screwdriver do I need to open up the laptop? What is its name or is it a generic one for all of the screws to get to the RAM BAYS? I am unsure as to what one i need. Thanks so much.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

Product key is stored in BIOS, so there is no need to use any app to read it.Download a tool to create bootable media from Microsoft website and install Windows 8.1 using it:https://www.microsoft.com/en-us/software-download/windows8 Moreover at first, you may try to restore your Windows 10 to factory state (do a backup of all important data first). Go to Settings -> Recovery -> Reset this PC and select Remove everything.

I recently tried to turn on my z500 after dropping it on the charging port whilst it was charging. However, after trying to turn it on it wouldnt start. I have tried the hard reset of pressing the button every 1 second 10 times and then holding the power button for 30 seconds.I have also replaced the charging cable inside the laptop and also used a spare charger.  Disconnecting the battery does not resolve the issue eitherWhen plugging in the charger, the battery light does not light up as well.Is there any solution to this? Hello, I've had my ideapad z500 for exactly 4 years last month, 4 years in which it worked perfectly (except for the brightness problem that seems to plague this model and had me recover the whole system evry time I accidentally lowered brightness) It still works perfectly, but 3 days ago it suddenly started whirring and vibrating. The vibration seems even throughout the laptop, but the sound seems to come form the left side (again, I can't really tell).First time it happened, I freaked out and force-shut it down (holding the power button). This made the whirring stop, but when I started it again, it resumed. Again, i stopped the machine and I started trying to unscrew everything I found (I mean, it's been 4 years, so I assume I had no warranty anyway), but I couldn't really open anything, so i put back the 9 screws. I mention this because, apparently, me turning it on all sides must've done something to it, because after starting the laptop again, there was no sound. The next days it worked just fine.Today, however, it started again. I didn't close it immediately and I continued using it some 3 minutes (and except for the sound and vibration, everything was working perfectly), hoping that it will go away, but it didn't and I turned off the laptop. Other details that might be important:-while I normally use the laptop for cpu-intensive tasks, this occured in a week when I distinctively didn't do anything other than text editing and web browsing. Hi Guys,

I am a member of the sevenforums and currently have a win8 laptop so thought I'd sign up here (seems to be the same people behind both forums).

I'm having a little trouble and would really appreciate some feedback.

My Lenovo ideapad z500 had 2 keys (K and I) that stopped working (they worked on the touchscreen) and then after that the delete, 8, and arrow keys topped working. Not sure why.

Before I get the keyboard replaced I'm wondering if it could be something else? There's no water damage and I haven't dropped it so I'm confused. I was told it has to be water damage but maybe 1 drop from the condensation on a glass of water is all I can think that may have affected it.

Would be great for some input on this issue.

Thanks!

A:Laptop Keys Stopped working - Lenovo Ideapad Z500 Win8

I was told it has to be water damage

Not true. In fact, water in the keyboard normally does not cause permanent damage. That is, once the water dries, all works again - most of the time. But that does depend on many variables - type of keyboard membrane, how much water, if just water (no sugars or cream, for example), and how much dust, dirt, oily hair/dander, cigarette smoke, cookie crumbs, etc. are under the keys when the water was spilled. The greater damage generally comes when the water works it way through the keyboard and into the computer's electronics.

I would try a regular PC keyboard first to see what happens. If all the keys work properly with a standard USB keyboard, then you can be pretty certain it is the notebook keyboard at fault, and not something more serious.

So everything has been working fine on my laptop until about 10:30PM EST tonight. I bought it new in August 2011.
Specs:

OS: Windows 7 Home Premium
CPU: Intel Core i7-2630QM @ 2.00 GHz
RAM: 8 GB
HD: 750 GB
BIOS: 45CN36WW

It's always been a fine machine with NO problems.
However, last night there were Windows 7 updates that were installed and then restarted my computer. I had not gotten a chance to check exactly what they were though. About 10:30 this evening, flash crashed in Mozilla Firefox which is not that uncommon, and from there Firefox closed, and so did my Microsoft Word and Excel apps that were open. From there, my computer began to shut down and restart. When it went to restart, all it could do was go to the opening Lenovo screen which gives you the F2 (setup option) and F12 (multiboot menu option) as it typically does. Besides a thin strip at the top that appeared after about 30 secs that only displays moving static that eventually will just stick, that is where the boot process ends. No Windows 7 screen, and certainly no opportunity to boot into safe mode to check for any problems. The screen freezes and goes nowhere.

So basically, all I'm getting in terms of boot options are lenovo features, not windows 7 features, meaning it won't boot into windows 7 or windows 7 safe mode no matter what I try. The biggest problem here is that I have no windows 7 disc to even try to boot from my dvd drive.

Anybody have any suggestions on what the probl... Read more

Is there a way for me to turn on the feature to wake when opening? I have gone through Power Management and the Devices/Hardware and have not seen that setting. Only comments related are that I can have it do something when closing. The ACPI lid driver is from the beginning of time, 2006, I am surprised since this laptop is just a few days old that there is such an old driver still being used. Is there something there?

Im sure this is a common issue but my programs in Windows 7 will not open after initial start up. The computer boots up into Windows 7 just fine and everything appears in order. However, if I open any program such as Google chrome or a game, it will not open at all and does not display an error message. Sometimes if I quickly open a program while the computer is still opening programs, it may open briefly but sometimes freeze. I am assuming it is a conflicting driver issue or program but no new hardware was installed.
This recently all started happening for no real reason as I had not downloaded or installed any hardware or programs when this happened.

Everything seems to work better in safe mode (although occasionally, some programs will also not boot up). I've tried all the usual options such as a clean boot (did not work at all), system restore (also didn't solve the issue), tried Repair in the boot up, tried opening msconfig, and also tried running Malwarebytes and anti-virus software in safe mode and so far nothing has been detected.
Im not sure if it is a driver issue as everything seems updated and the laptop is relatively new and hardly ever used with only a few installed programs since its purchase. I am running the laptop just fine in safe mode for the most part and can figure out what to do next.
Also, since the laptop was store bought, I don't have a Windows 7 install disc to re-install Windows. It was preloaded.

Im all out of options at this point. ... Read more

Hi.I bought the Lenovo Ideapad Z500 and I'm trying to boot from a USB drive in order to install Windows on it.When I start the boot menu I only see the hard-drive, the DVD and the network.I tried to set both UEFI mode and Legacy mode in BIOS but the USB stick does not appear in the menu when I boot.I put the image of windows with Windows 7 USB DVD Download Tool which formats the stick in NTFS mode.I have the latest BIOS v1.21 and I tried with 2 different USB sticks: one 16GB USB 2.0 Corsair and with a 32GB USB 3.0 ADATA both on USB 3.0 and USB 2.0 ports on the notebook.I really haven't seen anything like this in my entire career. I even downloaded the file efi\boot\BOOTX64.efi and replaced the one that Windows come with on the specified folder on the USB stick ....Why is so difficult to choose the USB boot drive on the newer notebooks?Does someone have a clue how can I boot from USB?Thanks in advance!  Bupitz

A:USB boot for Ideapad Z500

Hi,

I don't think I can be of much help, but a couple of things to try:  if your USB flash drive is formatted NTFS, it will only boot in legacy mode if it is bootable at all.  One thing you might try is to set the partition active if it isn't already.

If you want to boot in UEFI mode, format the flash drive with a single FAT32 partition.  Copy the contents of your install DVD to the flash drive.  If you're using an ISO copy the contents of the iso using a tool like 7zip.  UEFI bootabiliyt doesn't require using a special tool to prep the drive.  Just format it and copy the install medium to it.

Win7 requires CSM support in bios to boot successfully in UEFI mode.  That may always be enabled in UEFI mode or it may be a separate option in BIOS.

Z.

Hi there, I want to replace my device's default screen panel (1366x768) with a FULL HD (1920 x 1080) panel. I didn't open the case of my laptop to see the serial of the panel cause of warranty situations. I've talked with local Lenovo technical service in here to replace it but i learned that they don't have any screen panel replacement service for my laptop model. So i want to change it myself with a suitable panel.  There're some different panels written in the Hardware Maintenance Manual for this device; HD-AG, AUO B156XTN03.4 HW0A HD AG S LED1 NB LCD 18200763HD-AG, CMI N156BGE-LA1 HD AG S LED1 NB LCD 18200764HD-AG, BOE HB156WX1-600 HD AG S LED1 NB LCD 18200765HD-AG, SDC 156AT29-401 HD AG S LED1 NB LCD 18200706HD-AG, LGD LP156WHU-TLB1 HD AG S LED1 NB LCD 18200766HD -G, AUO B156XTN03.2 HD G S LED1 NB LCD 18200449HD -G, CMI N156BGE-LB1 HD G S LED1 NB LCD 18200450HD -G, BOE HB156WX1-500 HD G S LED1 NB LCD 18200767HD -G, SDC 156AT29-L01 HD G S LED1 NB LCD 18200705HD -G, LGD LP156WHU-TLA1 HD G S LED1 NB LCD 18200768 I don't know which one is attached. I'll be glad if any Support Specialist can assist me to find out which panel is attached to my device right now. So i'll be able to search for a FULL HD one that suits. Thank you.
