Keys get stuck in games, on HP Omen laptop.

Q: Keys get stuck in games, on HP Omen laptop.

Hello! I recently bought this laptop from USA. And had this problem a while but ignored it since it didn't happen so often. Let's take for example project CARS, when i play it and i keep pushing some keys for a while, they virtually get stuck and are kept being pressed like i still press them even if i don't, making the game unplayable. Even in shooters like Rainbow Six: Siege it is happening, the difference is that in shooters i don't need to hold the key down for too long for this to happen, only 3 seconds. But it doesn't always happen, the problem is that is making some games unplayable.

Preferred Solution: Keys get stuck in games, on HP Omen laptop.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi I have noticed that my new HP Omen laptop key sticks on games meaning for example in doom when moving my character will continue in that direction when I release the keys.  I thought it was the game itself but it's now happend in several games such as Doom, Doom 3 and Ark.  It doesn't happen all the time.  Looking around this seems to be a recurring issue with HP laptops.  Is there a fix as it renders a gaming laptop useless if your in the middle of a game and your WSAD keys suddenly go haywire.  I am really hoping this is a software issue that can be fixed.  Help.

I bought the HP Omen laptop about four days ago. The day after I bought it, I started playing games. From time to time (about every 15 minutes), my WASD keys would get stuck and repeat themselves in games (my character would keep walking). I would have to press the key, regardless of the amount of pressure, to stop the "key spam".  I disabled sticky and filter keys, as well as made sure that the keyboard's drivers were up to date, and that the device wouldn't be in power saving mode (anyways, I always game with my charger plugged in).  I'm sort of speechless, considering I bought this less than a week ago, and the keyboard keys don't have anything under them (I've been very cautious about not letting anything slip under there) and that the keys are starting to latch during games.  Another speculation, it also seems to happen mid-way through games, usually when my CPU and GPU are at their highs, when my computer's temperatures are higher (75-85 C for both CPU and GPU). If anyone could help me figure this out, thank you!

I bought this laptop HP Pavilion Notebook 15-ab029tx on 2-Sep-2015 for ?53k. Ever since I bought this laptop I have been having problems while playing games. The Keys get virtually stuck after continous playing. The problem is not specific to a set of keys. It is aways random. If I am playing a racing games then any of the ARROW keys or the spacebar will get stuk virtually or if I am playing FIFA then W,A,S,D or the ARROW keys get stuck. The player will keep going in the pressed direction. I have to find out which key is malfunctioning and then de-press it to stop the malfunctioning. I have talked to HP Support and they sent a representative to look into the issue and they had to finally replace the whole keyboard. But the problem was still there. Then I got a BIOS update, that also did not resolve the issue. So I had to talk to HP Support again. This time the representative asked me to first check it with an external keyboard (I was running Windows 10 at this moment). There was no problem with the external keyboard. Then he asked me to format my whole laptop. So I reinstalled Win 8.1 from the recovery disks provided by HP and I am still getting the same issue. Also, I am not getting the free Win 10 update which I had earlier. I have done the following:1. Tried an external keyboard (no key malfunction)2. BIOS update F.81 - No luck3. Formating the whole laptop - No luck4. Unistalled the keyboard driver and restarted - No luck Please help and fix the ... Read more

Hi all, I just bought my HP Omen from Best Buy today, and after getting it set up, I installed Steam and Farcry 4.  I started it up, and it all ran smoothly, even on ultra graphics settings.  However, when anything big happens in the game (explosions, lots of enemies on screen, etc.), the game seems to skip and lag.  Is this something wrong on the laptop's end or is it something related to the game itself?  My desktop is able to run the game somewhat well.  Thanks!Jesse Bell

I dropped a bit of water on the keyboard - machine works fine BUT keys on the left side are sticky and the second problem is that it is so hard to put these keys back. I bought the laptop 2 days ago and I think I would exchange it.

Any advice regarding this problem - I would appreciate feedback about placing the keys back - it has been impossible to put them back - they do not snap - so frustrating - I think Dell beats HP heere

Thanks

David

A:hp laptop = keyboard - keys stuck

If you removed the keys and cannot put them back, I think you are not eligible to exchange it as defective... you broke it. Please provide the manufacturer and model number so we can help you find a replacement keyboard and service information.

Hey,

I have a HP dv6000 with a 4 GB RAM and Intel Core2 Duo @ 1.50 GHz processor. I have Windows 7 Ultimate, 32 bit operating system.

Sometimes the laptop gets stuck and then none of the keys or the mouse works. Yesterday I was watching a movie and the same thing happened but the movie didn't stop. Can anyone tell me what the problem is and how it can be solved?

Today morning the laptop wasn't booting and then later I took out the battery and reinserted it and it worked. Are these two problems somehow related?

Thanks for the help in advance.

A:Laptop gets stuck randomly and none of the keys or mouse works

I would suspect a corrupt graphics driver. Reinstall the driver, reboot and run sfc /scannow from an elevated command prompt.

I just got this new laptop, right out of the box. The keys are "sticking" in games. They sometimes stay held when I let go or become unresponsive for a bit. Is there a solution for this? This is kinda ridiculous. I JUST bought it and it isn't working right. is this a normal hp thing for them to be broken right out of the box? If you need any more details, let me know. The game I am trying to play is Team Fortress 2. This problem did not exsist on my old laptop.

Hi, Is this your notebook? http://support.hp.com/us-en/product/OMEN-by-HP-17-w000-Laptop-PC/10862328/model/11926638 If it is, make sure you're running the latest bios version ( F.09 Rev.A ) as it mentions 'Provides improved keyboard behavior when games are played on the system.' http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76501-77000/sp76810.cva You can check the notebooks current bios revision by holding down the fn key and pressing esc. If you are running an earlier revision, F.09 Rev.A can be found on the following link. http://ftp.hp.com/pub/softpaq/sp76501-77000/sp76810.exe If you're already running this bios, or it doesn't correct the issue, my best advice would be to contact HP regarding this while the machine is still under warranty. If you live in the UK, contact HP Here. If you are in another part of the world, start Here. Regards, DP-K

Hi.I have problem with GPU fan (located on the left side of chassis). When GPU temperature rises above 56 degree celsius, fan starts spin up to 50% (that is probably ok). But when temperature drops under 43 degree celsius, fan tries to stop (I can hear fan decreases RPM for 1 second, but then immediately accelerate to 50%). It's like something blocks fan to stop even if the temperature is very low (sometimes below 38C) or even if I'm in BIOS (so nothing uses GPU). I tried to do a lot of things:- update BIOS- update HP Windows 10 Home to genuine MS Windows 10 Pro- install clear copy of OS without drivers and HP addons- install latest HP GPU drivers- uninstall HP drivers and install latest genuine Nvidia drivers...and nothing helped. The only way to stop GPU fan is to do power reset (press power button for 15s), but it helps only until the GPU reaches 56C and than everything starts again. Is seems like it's BIOS bug but I'm not sure. Is there any solution?

From time to time the computer behaves as if sticky keys and/or filter keys is turned on. They are not turned on in control panel so I can't just go there to turn them off. Running CC Cleaner sometimes helps with this problem. It is not an issue with the keyboard either. On a possibly related note, my homepage keeps changing itself to MSN. Thank you for any help.

My laptop, HP Omen 15-ax00tx, get stuck at startup screen too often. This happens every day now. After  I shut it down for many hours, it won't start properly. I have to press the power button to start it again or else it will just keep on the black screen with that Omen logo.I have tried contact the HP Customer Care in my region on phone. The customer care guy suggested BIOS updating, also recovering my windows as I have changed the partition volume from 1 partition to 2 partitions which he said it's not recommended by HP. Sadly the problem continues 3 times now after I fixed as HP customer care suggested. Is there any other suggestions to fix this problem? I've bought this laptop for 2 weeks now and so far it's caused more problems than my previous 3-year-old HP 14 series.

My laptop refused to start up at first leaving just a blank screen, though I eventually got it to start up though it stays stuck on the Lenovo logo as long as it's open. I close it and it gets to the password login screen. When I open it, though the password Feild is flooded with characters that I can't see, because it's the space for my laptop, and yet none of my keys are pushed down so I'm not sure which keys are 'stuck'. I've tried compressed air, vaccuming it, running my hands on the keyboard, even turning it over and tapping it from the bottom so I have no idea what else I can do.

Hello,
First and foremost I apologize if this thread is not in the correct place. The issue is this:

As I am working on the computer (Sony VAIO Laptop)(Windows Vista Home Edition), I hit the arrow key several times. Doesn't really matter which one, the result is the same. Just for argument sake, lets say I hit the left arrow key several times. The computer will act as if the key is stuck, and will scroll to the left. Using the up and down arrow keys, I can go up or down with out a problem. When I hit the right arrow button, I don't go to the right. The only way I can "unstick" the left arrow button is to hit again.

This issue happens with all the arrow keys, so I figure that perhaps it is a preference somewhere in Vista. I thought it might be the stickys, but I checked and they are off.

Does anyone have any idea how to solve this by chance?

Thanks so much for your time.

~David

A:Stuck keys

Hello calculus87 Welcome to the VistaForums!

You may have a keyboard problem with a contact sticking rather then a Windows problem being seen there. Have you tried using a can of air cleaner to blow the dust and dirt out with the thin tube seen with the can? You would be surprized at much will get trapped under the keys from continual usage!

I am currently wondering the best possible way to go about fixing and repairing my HP OMEN Laptop, Right now it's got one main issue I'd like to address now before it becomes a major problem, the screen is bending at the rotation point, as well as it creaks and the battery is dying VERY quickly. Where would I go to fix these issues I have in mind Best buy, but I'm not too sure as to going through them. Would I send it to an HP location? And would then I need the warranty? I'm a bit smitten on this subject. Any help would be graciously appreciated.

A:OMEN laptop repair

Can we have the full model number? I would not go to Best Buy unless it is the only option you have. They are very expensive and do not do very many repairs onsite. They ship your laptop out for repair elsewhere. HP also is very, very expensive for post-warranty repairs. Sounds like you need to replace the hinges and the internal battery. If it is the older Omen with the "beveled" shaped metal chassis the problem is the rubber gasket that goes around the service door. They are impossible to find. I had one of those Omens as my HP loaner machine a couple years back. I hold myself out as an Expert on laptop repair and am generally able to repair about any laptop. I wanted to upgrade the 128 gig SSD it had but never could find the rubber gasket so never was able to open it up in a year of having it. Post back with the requested information, please.

In the Startup menu choose F10 to enter the BIOS. If it is, disable it.  Even if it is disabled, the notebook's BIOS will activate the fan when temperatures get to specified levels to cool the notebook down when you are playing games . Very noisy fan. I am very concerned about how noisy the fan is in my new machine. It seems like the fan is on very frequently and often very loudly even when I only have a few things open. Is this normal? It seems embarrassingly loud when it's not actually doing any major processing. There was certainly no mention of this when I bought it at JBHiFi. I don't think I would have purchased it if I'd known about this noise level. I am not a gamer, I do lots of Adobe stuff, so the machine was recommended.

Hello,

I'm having a very weird problem here since this morning, and been trying to get it working ever since.

My laptop thinks there's a button being pressed (I have no clue which button exactly), while it isn't. I can type normally but, for example, Alt + Tab is constantly being interrupted and only flickers for a split second before I can even see anything. Also, the previews in the Aero Startbar are very short and just flicker for a split second when hovering my mouse over the programs.

It's extremely hard to give a proper explanation, therefore I will add in this video I made this morning while trying to get my game to work. You should have enough time to read the error message popping up at the PIN-section.

What I've tried so far:
- Restart my laptop
- Vacuum cleaned my keyboard (for possible crumbles stuck under the buttons, maybe)
- Keylogged my keystrokes with multiple keyloggers, but only ONE of them came up with a strange result:

Um I have news for ya: a keylogger is a bad thing. You want to get rid of that using a virus scan and or malware/adware program(s) A keylogger is a malicious program that can track every keystroke(s) you are making. And that includes if you do online banking and are entering user name and password information. Scan with the following programs:download and run them:

Hello, I bought the HP OMEN laptop about a month ago and I've come across and issue that has been present since I first started up this laptop.  The issue I've been having has to do with the icons on my desktop. In the picture shown above there are several icons on the right of the screen. they are near the edge, but not as close as they are supposed to be. I cannot place these icons any close to the edge than they are now. Same goes for the bottom part of the screen. The icons closests to the bottom are as far as i can place them. Currently my screen resolution is set to 125%(recommented). tuning this back to 100% somewhat fixes to problem with the icons but everything is VERY small. I have my desktop icons set to work from a raster. I can turn it to be able to be moved everywhere which also fixes the problem. but the fact that it wont work like this is bothering me alot. Furthermore, in some programs the text seems a bit blurry even though my general text settings are all good. Is there any way to fix this? I've tried returning to the store I bought it from, but they have been little to no help. Asking on this forum is a last try before demanding a return. Thank you for reading and I hope some of you might help me with a solution! -Sasja Koning

Here is the specified part number: 8 GB 2400 MHz 1.2v DDR4 shared 862398-855 This memory would work fine. https://www.amazon.com/Crucial-PC4-19200-SODIMM-260-Pin-CT8G4SFS824A/dp/B01BIWKP58/ref=sr_1_5?ie=UTF... I have 3 laptops right now from HP with DDR4 memory and have upgraded 2 of them using Patriot memory I bought at Frys which leads me to say that HP laptop using DDR4 memory are not extremely picky and will run most configurations of DDR4. The Frys memory tests perfect and is running in dual channel with the original OEM 8 gig chip. Where are you located (country)? If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

Has this problem been fixed or do I have to worry about this on my new Laptop? Very concern about this. But I am looking forward powering up my new OMEN. Thank You for any help. Mike

I just purchased an hp omen 17.3 model 17-w033dx 2 days ago, and it is not working properly straight out of the box. I can not play any game with any system requirements for longer than 10 minutes without the frame rate tanking. I have tried to run 4 different games, all which should definitely be able to be ran by the hp omen 17.3. I have tried all variations of graphics settings and they all fail to work consistently. I'll begin with getting over 150fps and it will drop all the way down to 15-25 fps and stay there until I restart the game. Even restarting the game doesn't fix the issue sometimes. I purchased this laptop thinking it was a gaming laptop, turns out I cant even run Hearthstone on low settings for longer than 10 minutes. What a disappointment and waste of my time. I've tried tinkering with all sorts of graphical settings, making sure everything is set to performance, it did not make a difference. Needless to say I will not be purchasing any "gaming" equipment from HP in the future. As for my Omen, I will be returning it as soon as I get the chance.

Hello I was hoping someone could answer my question about an HP Omen 17-w043dx laptop.  I'm trying to use the HDMI to extend the built-in monitors desktop to an external monitor.  However I am only able to clone it and cannot find any settings to  Output To with the Intel Graphics 530 Options.  It doesn't see the 2nd monitor and the NVIDIA GeForce GTX 956 M Control Panel only sees the HDMI connection and the external monitor.  I tried using the fn + F4 keys and it didn't do anything.  Is this system capable of extending the onboard screen to an external using the HDMI port?  Thanks!

Should be. Try windows key + p to bring up a menu to clone or extend to the external monitor.
