I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Which pen does the C630 WOS sold in the US at Best Buy support? I have a Lenovo Active Pen 2 that came with my Yoga 920 and it doesn't work. I also have a Thinkpad Active Pen that I use with my Yoga 720 15.6 and it also doesn't work. I paired the Active Pen 2 via Bluetooth, so I can launch the Windows Ink Workspace with the top button, but the screen itself does not register the pen.

I've been looking at the Lenovo C630 13" laptop with the Snapdragon processor. Want to run Linux on it. But thats a different topic. The 8GB/256GB model seems the best deal, but I have NEVER seen in stock since I started tracking it almost a month ago. Is it typical of Lenovo to have a laptop model be continuously out of stock for an extended period of time, or does it indicate that Lenovo has discountinued the model or is working on a replacement? Since I've been studying this, there's only one configuration that is consistently available. The 8GB/128GB model is usually available on the website and is also available at most Best Buy locations. The 4GB/128GB is sometimes available on the website. But the 8GB/256GB has never appears available. Not sure why they bother to list it if its not available.

A few months ago I started having problems with the microphone and video freezing.  Two weeks ago the microphone died while trying to use it with zoom.  doing further analysis the other day shows that it's not working with any product that uses it.  It also doesn't work if I use a bluetooth device with a functioning microphone.   Apparently this is a known issue according to other postings i've seen, but now my warranty is 5 days over it's expiration date. As recommended on the support site, I rebooted, reset to original settings, to no avail.   Is there any workaround I can peform without having to pay an silly amount of money to get this fixed?

I'm not sure this issue will get to who it needs to, but I have found a couple of issues with the Yoga C630 WOS Firmware version 1.33. First is that it no longer boots off of USB keys that are larger than 32GB without a little... help...  If you put 2 USB keys that are larger than 32GB in (so 1 in each USB port), then the one on the left side (sim card, power led) will show up as "UEFI: USB Hard Drive", whereas the one on the right (headphone jack, power button) will show up as "UEFI: USB USB Hard Drive" and it will boot from the device in the left port.If only 1 USB key larger than 32GB is plugged in, it shows up as "UEFI: USB USB Hard Drive" and will not boot from it, even when selecting it with the boot prompt.  It simply boots into Windows.  Booting from a 128GB or even 256GB USB key was possible without the hoops of connecting multiple devices on the 1.23 firmware, so it would be nice if whatever change was made that makes this not work, could be reverted? The second (possible) issue is that virtualization support isn't turned on.  This is unfortunate as it means that WSL2 (Windows Subsystem for Linux version2) is not supported on the Lenovo Yoga C630 WOS device, whereas the Samsung Galaxybook2 which has a firmware dated the same DOES have the support turned on, and WSL2 works on it.  It would be nice if the developers behind the firmware could enable the support.  I'm not sure if this is the correct forum, or how to get these... A:do you have to use Sim card in Lenovo yoga c630 to use the device?

No. You don't need to have a SIM card for the Lenovo Yoga c630 to be able to use it. The SIM card slot is used on the laptop if you want to have a cellular data connection to be able to access the internet if there isn't a Wi-Fi connection available. You will need to have a data plan on the SIM card that you are going to use. Cheers

I had some strange battery behaviors with my YOGA C630 WOS. It feels more like a sotware/firmware issue, but I am not certain.  The basic premise is that the notebook stops charging at around 79-80%. If I monitor the charging current, it charges at about 10-15W in the beginning, then begins to slow down and gradually drops to 2-3W and then stops when reaching 79-80%. In essence it behaves as if the battery would be fully charged at that point, even though it is not.  I tried draining the battery and charging from empty, but it gives the same results.  Also, while plugged in at 80%, if I remove and reconnect the charger, sometimes it will charge for a little bit again, before stopping again. Rarely I have also seen it start charging for a brief period. So sometimes it went up to 86%.  I did get to fully charge it maybe once or twice.  Battery wear is currently reported at 5%, althoug it did change during the lifetime of the product. Actually it jumped around a lot in the beginning (6%-14%-8%-19%) before settling on 5%. Now it has been at 5%. (I started using the device in April, so it is not very old).  The battery lasts for a really long time, so this has rarely been a problem for me, but would still be nice to have a solution to it. It almost feels like as if it had a charge limit set, but there are no options or ways I know of where you can set a charge limit in a non-thinkpad Lenovo. Since there are no drivers to ... Hi there,

I'm trying to fix my Lenovo Yoga Pro 2. I recently upgraded to Windows 10 from Windows 8. It now unable to boot up - saying that auto repair doesn't work. The error is WINDOWS\System32\LogFile\Srt\SrtTrail.txt

I've tried to get it to boot from a USB but must not have done that correctly. I really really don't want to lose the data (and have't back up because I'm a goose).

Is there anyway to get my data backed up before I do a full reset?

Many thanks in advance

Hello forum,

Newbie here. I've been struggling with this issue since Monday.

I've got a desktop running Windows 8.1 that has been refusing to boot. When I try to start it up, the computer goes to a blue screen and states:

Automatic Repair couldn't repair your PC
Press Advanced Options to try other options to repair your PC or shut down to turn off your PC.

Logfile: I:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt

I tried looking for this file on the Command Prompt but it couldn't find it on the drive, I kept getting a "path not found" message and doing a search via dir command on all the drive partitions didn't reveal this folder.

I did find a srttrail.txt file at f:\temp\srttrail.txt but the date on the file was 2012. There are files with more recent dates lying around elsewhere.

I created a USB recovery disc from my laptop that runs Windows 8.1 but that didn't help solve anything but did change the location of the srttrail.txt file from H: to I: drive.

Anyone have any advice how I can get round this? I spoke to Microsoft who said they could look at fixing this for a charge of ?65. I don't know if they'll refund it if the issue isn't solved though.

Hi all, I've already done a little research into my issue, but I just wanted to ask on here for some direct advice/sanity check. As the title suggests, I was trying to network boot some Yoga laptops using a ThinPad USB 3.0 network adapter (model RTL8153) but have been running into a problem where the adapter is seemingly not detected.  In the BIOS of each laptop it lists "ASIX AX88772A/B", which I gather is the supported chipset for USB network booting these laptops, whereas the RTL8153 is Realtek. When I try to boot, I get this: Enumerating for ASIX USB DONGLE ...
No ASIX USB Dongle found.
PXE-M0F Exiting Intel PXE ROM.
Reboot and Select Proper Boot Device. Now, from my admittedly limited research, it appears that I simply need a USB network adapter with the aforementioned ASIX chipset. Is this true or is there a way to get the RTL8153 working?  Many thanks in advance! (PS Apologies if this is better suited for a more enterprise-centric area of the community! Feel free to move the thread.)

Try and boot with charger plugged in. If this works try installing the latest updates you may have restart and install more than once so be patient. If this doesn't work check with your device maker.

Recently I purchased a laptop with windows 8 64 bit pre-installed in it. For my job purpose, I needed windows 7 32 bit. After searching the web and also using the information I got from this site, I disabled secure boot, deleted the recovery partition and converted GPT partitions to MBR. Then I shrink the Big partition in which windows 8 was installed to make room for the windows 7 partition. Then I created a new partition and installed windows 7 on it. After this whenever I switch on the computer, a message come up, saying that a required device cannot be found and windows is to be repaired. The only way in which I can start windows is to go to bios, select the boot options and then select boot from notebook hard drive.

Can anybody please tell me how this problem can be solved

A:Booting problem with dual booting with windows 8 and 7

when you created the new partition did you make itin front or behind the existing partition?

If your boot manager is looking to boot Win 8 on Disk 0 Part 1, and you created the new partition in front of Win 8, your Win 7 will now be located on Disk 0 Part 1 which is where the boot manager is expecting Win 8

can you send us a screen cap of your disk management?

Please bear with me, and please help me as I am suffering severe hair loss due to this issue. Again I am the victim of the Windows 8 SRTTRAIL.TXT problem. Here is a little bit of background information for your entertainment.

My computer is a Lenovo Y400, I'm the original owner and I purchased it in January. Although it took a while for me to get used to the Windows 8 "charms" and such, it proved to be a decent operating system until around 3 months ago. I have since used the Lenovo One-Key Recovery System over 30 times to reboot and reinstall Windows entirely. I've even gone to the point of wiping out all of information and doing a full clean reinstall using this method. Lenovo did not ship a separate Windows 8 install disc or recovery disc with this package, they claim that their One-Key Recovery System will reinstall Windows 8 perfectly should the owner run into issues. I used the One-Key Recovery System to reinstall Windows and wipe my entire hard drive again just two hours ago.

I have done numerous searches on the Internet and tried numerous times to have this fixed. Although this is still under warranty, I am reaching out to see if I can get this fixed on my own before I attempt to deal with Lenovo's technical support, which is lacking as well.

The following is a copy of my current SRTTRAIL.TXT file, any help will be appreciated!

Hey all,

Last night I was playing League of Legends when I got a BSoD. I didn't think much of it, and just waited for my computer to restart. However, as it restarted, I saw that it was auto repairing and then diagnosing. After that it said auto repair failed, giving me the directory c:\windows\system32\logfiles\srt\srttrail.txt. I tried system refresh, which shoot me back system refresh failed straight away. The same happens with system restart, but it takes much longer for it to say the restart failed. I have no system restore points to choose from and I have no recovery disks as Windows 8 came preinstalled on the computer. I've troubledshooted for hours and come to opening SrtTrail.txt with the command prompt. It says:

Root cause found: The operating system version is incompatible with Startup Repair.

So I have two questions:

1) What causes this to happen?

2) How can I fix it?

Thanks!

Hi guys,
My display port monitor stopped working randomly today and usually i restart or just plug & unplug the cable and it starts working again.
Well today I tried doing so and it didn't work so I tried using HDMI, VGA etc which made me restart the computer 4-5 times in a row.
After the 6th restart it said windows repairing etc then got at a screen which said this.
I've googled it spent over 2 hours trying to fix it from doing what is said on the windows forums reddit, etc. A lot of people give up and just reformat the computer but I can't afford to do so.
I have preformed a system restore which failed. Tried some commands in cmd, tried startup repair - I even tried running it in safe mode which failed.
Has anyone experienced this before?

EDIT: I am not sure if this picture of DISKPART helps at all - Maybe the bootmgr is on the wrong partition?
Also why can I not change directories to C:\.
What is X: ?
Thanks

Hi!

After getting almost 4 full months of enjoying my new desktop computer, it decided it was time to cause some trouble and, a few days ago, started its perpetual BSOD (Critical_Process_Died) - Automatic Repair / SrtTrail.txt loop.

It refuses to let me use System Restore (even though I made several restore points in the past 4 months, it's claiming none can be found), Automatic Repair (SrtTrail), Refresh your system (no changes were made), Safe Mode (still won't boot), etc, etc.

I've tried going through command prompt and doing a variety of different commands as per suggested solutions to my problem(s), such as bootrec fixmbr/fixboot/scanos/rebuildbcd (and more), sfc scannow, chkdsk, etc, but none has had any success.

I've unplugged all other USB components (including keyboard and mouse) when booting, I've unplugged my non-OS hard drive, plugged my OS SSD drive into another SATA adapter on the motherboard, replugged the power cable and a bunch of other small things that I came across as possible solutions. I've also updated my BIOS to the latest version.

When I opened SrtTrail.txt through command prompt, I was able to go into my C: drive and copy a few files and folders (along with SrtTrail) onto an external hard drive that I hooked up to my machine, so I can still read everything on my OS drive just fine (which makes me pretty certain it's not a hardware issue with the SSD drive that's causing this, but I could be wrong).

I created a bootable USB stick using my backup program (EaseUS Todo) in both flavors that they allow (WinPE and Linux). In both cases the USB sticks would not boot even after disabling fast boot and enabling USB booting in the BIOS. Then I tried selecting Legacy USB support and still the USB sticks would not boot. (They would not show up in the boot menu). Finally however if I selected the BIOS option "Legacy First", then finally I could boot to either USB stick. However then after removing the USB stick, the computer could not boot to the C drive. I would have to go back into the BIOS and remove the Legacy First setting. Isn't there a way to set up the BIOS so that it boots to the USB stick if it is found and otherwise boots to the C drive? I've gotten this to work on other computers so I was surprised that I couldn't do this on the Yoga 2 ?? Thanks~Paul

I rarely use my Yoga 2 Pro only when I travel so it is in excellent condition. One day, while using computer, it stopped working. I tried all the suggested solutions I found on internet.....unplugging battery, discharging power, unplugging BIOS battery, holding power switch, ....etc. I tried everything but nothing made any change/improvement. Apparently a lot of people have same problem but can't find a solution. Some are suggesting to replace CMOS battery, video card or even mother board. I wish LENOVO tells us what this means and what needs to be replced so we don't have to waste time/money guessing and trying to replace different parts. I like it and I want to find a way to resurrect it. It is rarely used and is in excellent condition and I paid good money for it.

I could boot up with it and use the utilities on it but none of the utils could "see" my drives on the Yoga 720.I'm tied up in a knot and could use some guidance.  I basically want to be able to boot from a USB drive to use some favorite utilties like Macrium reflect, minitool partition manager, etc.
