XPS 15-9550 Charging issue

Q: XPS 15-9550 Charging issue

In the past week, I have had problems with charging. When I put charge cord into the small hole on the side of the computer the computer will say no charge but plugged in but the little green light to indicate it is charging will not come on.
Now the small light on the cord I plug in is green so it looks like it is working.

When I charge the light on the computer goes on for maybe 3-5 seconds then goes out. I have to keep plugging the charger cord into the computer over and over again until the green light on the computer stays on and it starts to charge. Is it the cord? Or is it the small hole I plug it into that will not accept it. I assume it is loose or something. I hate having to unplug and plug it again and again- I fear I will break someting?

As you can tell I am a novice. I bought the thing in 8-2016. Please help. thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello friends,
since i purchased my 9550 fhd / i7 / 16gb / 512gb Toshiba i always have the problem that the fan is running @ ~ 2500rpms while charging the battery. The cpu is under no load. Drivers are all up to date. Bios 1.2.10 (newest bios has problems with charging...)
It is independent of the bios charging modes. System cooling policy is passive (on battery) and active (plugged in). Switching these doesn't change anything - as soon as the battery is charging albeit the cpu/system usage the fan is kicking in. It gets quite annoying, i only tolerated it because i thought in would be fixed in the near future.
I read through quite a few threads/posts with the same problem - but most are months old and/or with suggestions/fixes i already tried.
I had the same problem with usb c - also a well known problem. Currently i don't have an usb c device so i can't test if this problem still exists.

Is there any known fix? Or is it just designed that way and all 9550 users have to suffer under these problems?

I bought a Dell XPS 15 9550 less than two months ago and already have to send it in because it won't charge and the battery says it need to be replaced and of course it's past the 21 day return policy. Poor QC! It looks like others are having the same issues. A $1500 machine should not have these issues in such a short time. Last time I line Michael Dell's pockets.

Disappointing purchase. Bought an XPS 15 9550 Nov 2015. Now about 15 months later the battery no longer charges and BIOS reports needs to be replaced. Front orange light continuously blinks. Looks like many have had this issue. Have previously always purchased Lenovo and have had them more than 7 years without a single issue. Pathetic that a battery would need to be replaced after 15 months on a $2200 machine.

Has anyone been able to correct with unplugging and reattaching battery or is the answer another $120 to get a new battery? I have also read some needed the whole motherboard replaced.

Any suggestions/experience is appreciated.

Seems I am now regretting my purchase of a new Dell XPS 15 Laptop.
Purchased on 20th September 2016, and seems as of 5 days ago the battery already needs replacing.
LED on front of laptop just flashes orange, battery status button on the side has LED's 1, 3 and 5 lit.
In Windows 10 Battery says "Plugged in, Not Charging" with 79% available
In BIOS battery says "Battery needs replacing", AC Adapter - 130w and 79% charged.
Laptop will no longer work on battery, has to have AC adapted plugged in and when removed it'll just power off.
After the fact I enabled the USB power option (charging phones etc. when laptop is off) and it doesn't charge without AC Adapter plugged in.
Rather annoyed at myself, I have always avoided Dell but I went against my gut instinct and spent £1400 on a laptop that is no longer fit for purpose.
Guess it's time to buy a replacement battery and never buy anything from dell again

I recently got my XPS 15 and was messing around with the BIOS settings for battery life.  I changed from the Adaptive mode to Custom charging, from around 80% to 90% thresholds.  When I booted up my machine, the battery indicator on the taskbar shows "plugged in, charging", but that clearly is not the case, as the battery life gradually decreases as if it is not charging at all.  Also, it no longer shows the estimated remaining time, but "Calculating...".  I tried reverting back to the Adaptive mode, but it still has the same problem.  I also installed the Dell Power Manager program to see if that helped things, but it hasn't.
Has anyone else had this problem after changing the battery settings in BIOS, and how can I fix this?

A:Dell XPS 15 9550 Battery Not Charging

My problem has been solved! Just Let the battery run totally empty while keeping the laptop plugged in.
After shutdown it will charge normally again!

My battery was working fine for the last two months, but now its starting to act up.
It charges up to 95% then stops, and then every 10 seconds decides to charge up again. This issue is annoying and slows down my productivity with the constant change from AC to DC.
Please help sort this issue out.

Hi Folks,
I hope you guys are doing well.
I recently upgraded from Dell Xps 15 L502x to Dell's flagship XPS 15 2016 (9550) Infinity Edge Notebook and I'm happy with it.
So, I used my old XPS with the power cord plugged in even after it reaches 100% or until I see the fully charged notification by disabling my battery charging. By that way I prevented my notebook from overcharging.
Until now my battery's health, was good and I haven't faced any issues with my battery. (touch wood)!
But with my new Notebook I couldn't able to see such thing to disable my battery. I have the habit of working in my laptop with the power chord plugged in. But now It kinda worries me, by doing that so may shorten my new notebook's battery life.
Does the new XPS 15 (9550) notebook comes with an automatic disable function to prevent from overcharging? or Is there a way to disable it?
P.s I had a Dell chat session with their expert, He asked me to remove the power chord once the battery is fully charged.

hi. i'm having problems with my (almost brand new and unused) xps 15 9550.
i was trying to figure out the health of my ssd drive (came with the laptop) but no software i download seems to recognize my laptop as having an ssd, and i can't seem to find any answers online for it.
can someone help me figure this out please?

A:xps 15 9550 ssd issue

Is this a system with a small 32-G SSD and a large hard drive?
If so, Windows won't see the drive - it's not used for storage, but as a cache.  The Dell diagnostics (F12 at powerup) should be able to test the drive, though.

I just got my brand new XPS 15 and this thing screams. I'm impressed at how quickly this machine processes my videos on Premier Pro. However, right out of the box, I'm having a major issue with the headphone jack.
Upon inserting any set of headphones, I get, I would say 35% sound on the right channel. The left channel sounds fine. The fix is either to wiggle the headphone jack until the sound comes through. Or, to press down hard next to the left Ctrl and Shift keys.
I've tried both the Audio Technica ATH-M70x and Creative Aurvanas, and both have the same issue. Is this new laptop destined for a new motherboard, already? I can't imagine this would be a driver issue.

I have been experiencing a track pad lift issue which is known to Dell.
I made multiple calls to try and get support for this issue but to no avail. Every call I had ended with the same answer we can get it fixed for you but your account is on hold and we cannot do anything until th hold is lifted.
I does not make sense to me that I am in possession of a device yet I cannot remove the hold nor get support for a dangerous issue of a swollen battery that is caused by a production defect.
The battery is currently swollen and I haven't stop using it since I need a laptop to work with.
This battery is at risk of causing fire or explosion so I would like to know how I can get Dell support before that happens.

A:No support for known issue on XPS 9550

First, get the battery out of the system - NOW.  Do not leave open the risk of a fire -- if that happens, since you're already on record, any damage done will be at your risk - not Dell's.
The battery can be removed fairly easily:
topics-cdn.dell.com/.../xps-15-9550-laptop_Service Manual_en-us.pdf
and the system will run fine without it.
In another post, you've been told they'll replace the battery if you return it to Dell USA -- it may be this model isn't sold in Spain, so parts may not be available there.

I bought a XPS 15 9550 laptop last November, everything was fine until now. I didn't have a big use of the laptop (always staying on the desktop, never fell). I am very careful with it !!
But today a notification from SupportAssist told me that something went wrong with my battery. I first remarked that when I unplugged the AC cable, the laptop switched off. Then the light on the frontside for battery is orange and flickering each time I turn on the computer.
The battery is stuck at 59% and it's written "plugged in, not charging". Of course I did loads of research about that, did all the updates: drivers, BIOS, etc... I even disconnected the battery cable (the one that connects it to the motherboard) and reconnected it ,but nothing changed.
Please answer me and help me repair it, it is very important and I hope to have enough support from Dell.

Thank you a lot,

I just bought XPS 15 2 days back and it seems to have issue with sound. The speakers work fine but as soon as I plug the headphones in, there is no sound. I plug them out, there is no sound from speakers. If I restart the sound gets back to the speakers. If I restart with headphones plugged in, the sound is there on the headphones, but as soon as they are plugged out no sound on either of those.
Also when I right click on the speaker icon, and then Playback, I just see one option "Speaker/Headphones" but on my other laptop I see multiple options, including Speakers/Headphones, HDMI and Headphones. This is a super expensive machine. Please help!

A:XPS 15 9550 Sound Issue

Hello. See the Recent Issues FAQ. Scroll down to XPS 9350 & 9550, Issue 2. It's a problem with the 9550. Several owners reported that the fix for them was to have the audio port circuit board replaced. Because you are still within the return period, you have the option of returning or exchanging the laptop. Or you might want to try the other 2 solutions in the FAQ, that only helped maybe one owner.
viveknarangI just see one option "Speaker/Headphones" but on my other laptop I see multiple options, including Speakers/Headphones, HDMI and Headphones.
In the blank white area underneath "Speakers", right click and check the boxes to "show" disconnected and disabled devices. That should add "Stereo Mix" to the list. If you don't see HDMI audio or Digital when you plug in  an HDMI cable, you might have to reinstall the graphics driver, which is the controller for HDMI audio.
On Dell laptop with Realtek audio, you don't get a separate listing for Headphones while using the Realtek driver. If you switch from the Realtek driver to the Windows native driver, then with some versions of the native driver you do get a separate listing for Headphones, but lose the advanced features of the Realtek driver, such as WavesMaxx. The advanced features are controlled in the Dell Audio control panel.

After the last Windows 10 update (4/12/16) my system would no longer go to sleep. I applied the latest BIOS update (1.2.0) and now it is sleeping again so you might want to consider installing this BIOS update. It also supposedly fixes a number of other issues people have been having.

So, I recently bought a Dell XPS 15 9550 i7 Skylake model, and the problem that bothers me is with the sleep mode. It's the 3rd day when i watch a movie on battery, close the lid with 70% of battery and wake up after 7-8 hours with 5-10 % of battery remaining. IT IS ABSURD !!! I paid a lot of money for this product, and I think this can be solved with a BIOS update. (i have .19 version of BIOS).
Please give me an answer of what I can do, and does anyone else have this problem??

A:Dell XPS 15 (9550) SLEEP Issue

This is a known Windows 10 issue. You can use the Power > Shutdown buttons and you think that it is totally shutdown, but it is not. I did that with my laptop which I did not have plugged in and a while later when I brought it back up, I discovered that the battery had almost run down. What you can do is shut off "Fast Startup". That should solve the problem. The XPS 15 will still come up fast enough without it.

Anyone else with the XPS 15 9550 have problems with headphones / internal speakers not working correctly?
On booting the PC without any headphones, the speakers work. However headphones do not work if inserted.  On removing the headphones, the speakers then cease to work.
However if booting the PC with headphones inserted, the headphones do work.  On removing them, the speakers do not work.  The headphones do not work if reinserted.
Both these scenarios are fixed by rebooting the PC.
Windows 10 and all drivers - including audio and BIOS - are up to date as of 17/11/5.
This issue seems similar to the one described in:
Does anyone else have the same problem?

A:XPS 9550 Headphone / audio issue

I have the same problem. Here's the steps I took to fix the issue on my computer (no guarantees this works for everyone!)
1. Updated audio drivers to latest (Audio_Driver_37Y88_WN32_6.0.1.7628_A03.EXE)
2. Updated BIOS to latest (XPS_9550_1.1.19.exe)
3. Restart
4. Open the startup manager(Esc+Shift+Ctrl, navigate to startup tab)
5. Disable "HD Audio Background Process" and "Waves MAXXaudio Service Application"
6. Enable "Realtek HD Audio Manager" if not already enabled
7. Restart
After restarting plugging and unplugging headphones work correctly. Hope this helps!

I recently purchased an XPS 15" 9550 and after setting it up there are several programs that open into very small scaled down windows that you can barely read.  I have updated video drivers and Windows 10 and no change.   Dell support is had me restore to factory settings but nothing changed.

Any help would be appreciated--thanks!

A:Video Scaling issue (XPS 15 9550)

Yeah, I just set up my new XPS 15 yesterday and I'm running into this issue too as I'm installing the software I need..
Even a basic application like VLC looks terrible, buttons and text so tiny..
There is a post on a forum about creating a manifest file and adding a registry entry to prefer external manifest that apparently tells the app to ignore the scaling but I can't get this to work..
I'm not sure what to do, thinking of sending this back!

I've recently purchased a 9550 XPS 15 from the Dell outlet and I received it earlier today. I'm very happy with it, and it's come in perfect condition.
However, I can't seem to get the keyboards backlight to work.It was definitely listed as coming with the backlit keyboard.
I've tried all sorts to try and get it to work. FN + F10 does not work.
I've tried looking in bios to see if it had been disabled in there. Which it hasn't, as far as I can tell.
I've been doing research online, I don't see any option in the mobility center for any additional Dell options.
I do have the icon etched in to the F10 key to change brightness on the backlight, which would lead me to believe it is the correct keyboard installed.
I've sent a support request off to Dell about it, just thought I'd leave a message in here to see if I get a quicker response.
Any suggestions? Cheers.

There seems to be quite a few issues related to the 'precision' trackpad on many laptops Dell is producing. I just bought a 15in XPS Laptop which is a beautiful piece of machinery. But shortly after buying it my cursor would float all over the screen. Strangest behavior I've ever seen. When focus is on a program trackpad seems to work fine but when focus is on the desktop you literally have no control over the cursor using the trackpad.
I've contacted support who have done what they can but now want me to send the laptop in for repairs. As this is most certainly a software issue I cannot justify sending the laptop in losing it for a month to some hardware shop unless they can tell me definitely that this is hardware related.
I will be posting a video of this behavior on YouTube. I've done a full reinstall of Windows, updated BIOS, Chipsets, run extensive tests, and still the problem continues. At this point the best solution so far is to disable all gestures and features of the 'precision' trackpad and carry a mouse wherever you go! Such a shame that a fine piece of engineering like the XPS suffers from basic BIOS issues. I mean it's the trackpad on a very expensive laptop.

Bumped into this tftcentral.co.uk article by accident. It pretty much explains the intermittent flickering I noticed in my XPS 15 9550. DELL support could not figure that out themselves.
The temp solution was then to go to my driver colour settings and decrease the contrast and the brightness. Hopefully I will not need to change the settings again.

I have sleep issues with my Dell XPS 15 9550 laptop with Windows 10. I have set the laptop to turn off display and go to sleep after 10 minutes, both on battery and when plugged in. When I leave the laptop for 10 minutes, the display turns off correctly but the laptop does not go to sleep.
My BIOS is up-to-date. The laptop correctly goes to sleep when closing the lid or using the Windows start menu - it is only time-based sleep that is not working.
Does anyone have any ideas?

Hi, There's something wrong with the m2 ssd (PM951) used by Dell's XPS 15 9550. I've tried everything I know to get hardware encryption working without success. One would think that such old and basic feature for SSDs would be functional on this high-end laptop... Has anyone succeeded in using hardware encryption with the PM951? I'd also be very interested to know, from people that replaced this ssd, if they can now use hardware encryption (with samsung 950 pro or 850 evo for example). What's not working so far : 1. There is no option to set HDD Password in the bios. This password is supposed to encrypt the ssd encryption key. In theory all SSD are encrypting data by default. All you need to do is set the hdd password to take advantage of it. 2. The "Wipe Data" feature in the bios. This is supposed to send a Secure Erase command to the ssd controller. This only changes the encryption key and renders all previously encrypted data unreadable. Unfortunately this has no effects on the pm951. The encryption key is left unchanged as I can still boot my Windows install. 3. On Linux with hdparm, I failed changing the encryption key and can't communicate with the pm951 controller at all. 4. On Windows 10 Pro, Bitlocker hardware encryption is not available. If you are prompted with this : http://img15.hostingpics.net/pics/113234bitlocker.png, it means that Bitlocker will be using software encryption.

I'm having an issue with my Dell XPS 15 laptop (i7, 4K Touch, 512GB SSD, Windows 10).
- the laptop instantly wakes up after I put it to sleep (by pressing the power button or closing the lid);
- this happened after the laptop failed to hibernate from sleep and now it's happening every time I try to put it to sleep and it just wakes up instantly after the sleep starts;
- there are no waking devices or scheduled tasks, nor is the wireless card waking it;
- the issue seemed fixed after I updated the BIOS with the November firmware update (01.00.07), but it started again after another failed attempt to hibernate from sleep.

Thank you in advance for your help.

A:Dell XPS 15 (9550) sleep issue

Even with the latest BIOS update 01.01.19 (05 Feb 2016), I still have this issue.
I was able to further explain the issue on this thread: answers.microsoft.com/.../ce44911e-c472-4773-8e7f-d3d58518aabc
I will transcribe it.
Some notes:

the expected behavior is: put laptop to sleep by pressing the power button > wait 1 minute (I configured it that way) > the laptop wakes to hibernate > the laptop hibernates > the laptop stays in hibernation until I boot it up again
the bug is: put laptop to sleep by pressing the power button > wait 1 minute > the laptop wakes to hibernate > the laptop hibernates > the laptop instantly wakes up afterwards
when the bug happens, the laptop is in a state where it wakes up instantly after every sleep, hibernate, and shutdown (even after restarting it)
to "fix" this state I have to prevent windows from booting up when the computer wakes. I usually shutdown the laptop, wait for it to wake automatically and hit the power button again, making it shutdown for real.

Steps to trigger the bug (default 'balanced' power plan with 1 minute to hibernate from sleep):

the laptop is plugged to the charger, with only a usb mouse connected
put laptop to sleep by pressing the power button
while asleep, unplug the power changer and disconnect the mouse
at the scheduled time (after 1 minute) the laptop wakes up to hibernate, and a sound is play... Read more

however it will not keep on the boot, it just hang on the Dell logo
while power down the laptop and boot back up it just gone dead
this issue was tested with 3 motherboard with totally same F8 key so this is solidly confirmed it's F8 key problem
however your CS says this is my issue to press F8, I had working in computer industry for 1x years and a PC can be killed by a single F8 key? this is funny

Hello I bought new battery for my laptop 4530s. In HP support assistant I ran HP battery check test and the results showed my battery was not discharging even when it is fully discharged to 0 percent and I was running my laptop with AC adapter. Plus it didn't show that it was charging either. The AC adapter is not charging the battery and the laptop works fine when only connected with AC adapter. I tried hard resetting and under the device manager Microsoft ACPI reinstall method but it didn't work and still I am unable to charge the battery. I read on some forums and also tried to update my BIOS, but surprisingly during the BIOS update through USB and only AC adapter plugged in, on the BIOS update page it was written to connect external power eventhough only source that was connected was AC adapter. The problem is with my AC adapter or BIOS or charging circuitory please guide? An early response in this regard will be highly treasured.

I thought the latest release of the BIOS driver should fix the fan speed issue when connected to AC, but now I have the 1.1.19 version, and this is still an issue.
When connected to AC, the fans have a high RPM, even though the CPU utilisation is low. Does more people have this issue after updating the BIOS, and is there any fix for this?

I'm in no way an expert and this is my second Dell laptop which I've had since Sept 2016. I've been finding lately that my laptop was taking a long time to get past the Dell startup logo during a hard boot, and even when restarting. The only time I get a snappy startup is when waking the laptop. Overall the laptop's performance feels less snappy than it should, given the specs it's got. Initially I wondered if it was an issue with the SSD so I ran a couple of benchmark tools (UserBenchmark and Crystal Disk). They both showed the SSD is operating fine, and UserBenchmark says the CPU and RAM are underperforming.
UserBenchmarks: Game 22%, Desk 43%, Work 37%CPU: Intel Core i7-6700HQ - 35.8%GPU: Nvidia GTX 960M - 21.2%SSD: Nvme PC300 SK hy 512GB - 137.1%RAM: Samsung M471A1G43EB1-CPB 2x8GB - 63.4%MBD: Dell XPS 15 9550
Do these numbers look right to you? Do I have a faulty CPU and RAM? Any advice please about anything I can do before I get on the phone to Dell? All drivers are up to date and I've installed all the latest updates from Dell. I've also run a SupportAssist extended scan and all passed.

I just received my XPS 15 4K/i7/512 GB laptop at my first start up i noticed below mentioned issues
1. White flickering dots while booting (DELL logo).
2. Too much screen flickering (display goes black and returns). 2-3 times in under 5 secs.
3. Updated BIOS and other drivers. (System drivers are all up-to-date).
4. Everytime screen flickers mouse returns to the centre of the screen and brightness varies around 14% even though i set it to 100%.
Need a fix as soon as possible. Laptop is completely unusable.

I am getting a repeating cold-boot-from-sleep issue on the XPS 15 9550.
Now and then when I try to log in to a website which requires a certificate with MSIE11, the lsass process gets runaway slowly hogging up all the memory and can't be killed, logon or shutdown doesn't work. So I use a hard shutdown (5 sec pwr button).
Subsequently, the laptop can't wake from sleep anymore, cold-boots instead. Can't tell if it shuts down when going into sleep, during sleep, or upon wake - there's no sleep led indicator, and the unexpected restart time in the Event log is sometimes inconsistent.
I found a workaround is to reflash BIOS (the same one works). Resetting BIOS might work too, but I'd need to adjust settings again.
I don't need help, but it'd be great if Dell could fix things so that sleep would work and messing with BIOS wouldn't be needed.
I'm using the Samsung 950 Pro NVMe SSD in AHCI mode with the Samsung NVMe driver v1.4 (there seem to be freezing issues with the latest 2.1).

Hi everyone
My XPS 15 9550, which has been out of warranty for a few months, recently got the dreaded bloated battery/raised trackpad. I've done my research and saw that this is a common issue that Dell still has not chosen to recall or do anything about. It feels like these batteries were made to mess up just after warranty ends.
How successful have people been when trying to get a replacement from Dell out of warranty? It seems very difficult to find an email for tech support. I'd rather not spend $100 to buy a new battery because there were some corners cut with the battery manufacturer.

Call them and find out. It seems from other recent posts here that they now recognize the problem.

Recently, I bought XPS 9550 as my second laptop for video editing and gaming. As I tried to update GPU driver to the latest version, every game started becoming laggy and all the BGM or sound effect started cracking within few minutes. Although the problem can be solved as reinstall the driver from Dell support, the version of driver was too old to compatible with new games and software. e.g. Battlefield 1 required at least Nvidia driver version 372.70. Please provide with at least one update and fix the video issue in late 2016.
Current version on Dell Support
Release Date: 26 Nov 2015
Latest Version on Nvidia website
375.70  WHQL
Release Date: 28 Oct 2016

Video lag and cracking sound issue can be found in the video below.

Hello,Everyone appears to have issues with the dock such as a port not working or stuttering or resetting. But I am not having ANY of these issues. The only issue I am having is I cannot close the lid with an external monitor. I have already changed the settings on the XPS 9550 to "Do Nothing" when the lid is closed both on battery power and without. I also plugged it into the power adapter just in case.
What happens when I do close the lid is the external monitor goes to sleep and ALL peripherals connected no longer work (including display) after opening the XPS again. I have to restart the computer for the dock to work again.
No overheating issues, no fan issues, no stuttering, other than this small problem. Anybody have any solutions?

A:XPS 9550 TB15 dock combo, closed lid issue?

This isn't a TB15 issue. I've seen the same problem with third-party USB-C video adapters. I believe it is a power management problem. If you're using Windows make sure your power management features are configured so that when the laptop lid is closed Windows will "Do Nothing" when you're connected to AC power. (YOU DID THAT.) If you're using a Dell monitor, I found that some of them have hyper- aggressive power management features. On my UP3216q, there's a setting to disable the monitor sleep feature but it doesn't work. And there is almost no delay between when the monitor loses the picture signal and it begins its sleep countdown. If I reboot my XPS 15 9550, the monitor will be asleep before the machine comes back up. I'm using Windows 10 and I also have some questions about the power management features there. In fact the whole settings/control panel dichotomy is really screwed up.
I have an additional problem with closing lid — it can cause the monitor to blink on and off. This seems to be a Dell laptop to Dell monitor problem. And it may be 4K and/or USB-C related. Here's how I solved the problem, and you're not going to like it. But I'm getting used to it: I just tuck the laptop under the monitor edge and leave it open 3 inches.
By the way, I'm not having any problems with the TB15 either. In fact I just ordered a second one. You really have to keep up to date on the drivers and firmware, though. The ones... Read more

I'm having issues with black not displaying correct shades with the latest Intel Graphic 530 driver update - ,A06. Problem actually started,A05 29 Mar 20168:44:58 AM, thankfully I could roll back to,A04 21 Dec 20156:35:40 AM which displays black shades without causing any pixelation.

Because of this issue when viewing dark images or videos it would cause uneven blocky/pixelated black which is very unpleasant experience on this beautiful 4k display panel.
Also, I notice slight flickering issue with ,A06
Anyone else having same issue?

Here is the differences between updates.

Hi I tried to use my XPS 15 for hdmi to coax streaming via HDMI output with HDMI QAM Modulator. I have an issue - I can't get [email protected] , it works only under 1080p 30fps(GTX 960M should be powerfull enough for 60fps). What could be the problem? I use H.264 encoding and QAM DVB-C modulation. Thank you!

I got my XPS 15 9550 with high end specs in August for which I paid a fortune and I have been having screen brightness flickering issue every time I upgrade to the new BIOS which as stated by Dell is an urgent update. The screen brightness starts to flicker every now and then. It is definitely the most annoying thing ever. Every time they release a new update I try to upgrade and see if they have fixed the issue or not but unfortunately, every time I am disappointed and eventually I just roll back to the original BIOS version 1.1.15 which fixes the flickering issue. The sad part is some of the other updates require you to have the latest BIOS in order to upgrade them. Does anyone know when Dell will be actually fixing this glitch?
