3d animation-> what determines render speed?

Q: 3d animation-> what determines render speed?

confirm my suspicions... im pretty sure that the processor speed in this case plays a role in the speed something renders in 3d animation programs and not RAM

if im wrong tho.. plz correct me!!!

Preferred Solution: 3d animation-> what determines render speed?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: 3d animation-> what determines render speed?

Yes, if you keep RAM a constant, rendering speed is directly proportional to processor speed.

I am currently running an HP-pav zd7000 series laptop.
-Pen 4 2.8 GHz
-Win Xp Home ed.
-2 x 256 MB DDR SDRAM
-80 GB 4200 RPM Hard Drive
-64 MB NVIDIA(R) GeForce(TM) FX Go5600

I use my miniDV dig cam for school projects. Video rendering is the only painful part about these projects. It isn't completely pitiful, but it does take an awful amount of time. What should I upgrade to help make the rendering faster? More mem? (this laptop supports up to 2GB but that would be VERY expensive). Faster hardrive? Better videocard? I know all of these things would help to make things faster, but considering what I already have, what SHOULD I upgrade without spending a ridiculous amount of money.

Any suggestions greatly appreciated

Thanks in advance

I'm somewhat a newbie on this issue. I know the basic concept of PF freeing up RAM by saving the information to the hard disk. (Is that correct?) But since in the Performance tab of Windows Task Manager, the windows that shows PF usage graphically is more noticeable than the text telling me about available physical memory, I used to assume the former is more critical to the system speed, a thought that I know runs counter to theory and may sound silly to experts.

However, my intuition seems to comply with the reality, as the system always slows down when the PF usage increases. I know it doesn't necessarily disapprove but instead just sustains the theory, because the PF usage increases exactly in response to the physical memor being exhausted.

What confused me, then, was my experience using TuneUp MemOptimizer, which seemed to do the same thing as Windows freeing up memory by increasing PF usage, the only difference being that TuneUp MemOptimizer can be used to customize the process. The funny thing was that, after a freeup was done, when I had about 120M free memory (out of a total of 256M) and the CPU was no longer working hard to optimize, my system slowed down.

What happened? Does it mean it is PF Usage, not Physical Memory, that is more critical to system speed?

A:Which determines the response speed of my PC -- PF Usage or Physical Memory?

They work hand in hand, if one is using too much, then the other goes up, or down, depending on which is working harder.

Hi @ all... Is it possible to adjust the anmination speed of the minimizing, maximizing, snap-feature and so on? Perhaps something like changing a value in the registry which sets the animation time in milliseconds? Thanks for all solutions... Greetz -Osiris-

A:Windows 7 - Adjust Animation Speed?

Hi -Osiris-,

Based on my knowledge, we cannot change the animation speed of the minimizing, maximizing, snap-feature. However, it is possible to set the Aero Peak desktop preview delay time. To do this, please refer to the steps below:

1. Click the "Start" button, type "regedit" (without quotation marks) in the "Search" bar, right click on the "regedit.exe" found in the list and then click "Run as administrator".

2. Navigate to the following key:

HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\Explorer\Advanced

3. Right click the Advanced entry on the left pane, choose "Export", select "Desktop" in the "Save in" box and type "backup" (without quotation marks) in "File Name". Click "Save".

Please Note: The backup file is on the Desktop and named "backup.reg". We can simply restore the registry by double-clicking the "backup.reg" file.

4. Right click on the Advanced entry on the left pane, choose "New" -> "DWORD".
5. Rename the DWORD as DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime.

6. Double click the newly created DesktopLivePreviewHoverTime, choose Decimal and change its value to the one you desired.

NOTE: Remember the value should be given in milliseconds, so if you want to set the delay time to 5 seconds, set the value to 6000.

7. Log off the user account or restart the computer to take effect.

hi... So i have been playing around in sony vegas with some settings and found out that if you render with the cpu it takes 4 Minutes to get to 11% on a 15Min video (full video takes 34 mins )
And the Gpu render takes 4:11 minutes to get to 11%

Why is this? The gpu render should be waaay faster.. I've seen people with the GTX 660 get times like 10 Min video takes 5Min to render but for me it takes 20Min to render a 10Min video???
i do not know if this is a software or hardware issue becouse when maxing my cpu to 100% my psu goes bananas so my cpu needs to force shut down 2 cores and my cpu can only work at 80% instead of 100%
Is this something that can effect this?

Hey All,

This is an excellent tip for Windows 7 users. Other versions of Windows may have similar ways to disable the fade and animation menus, but these steps will be for Windows 7. Note that by default, Windows turns on a lot of menu fade in and out controls when programs and menus are opened and closed. They may look cool, but they also consume tons of memory, can be unnecessarily trying on the CPU, and consume computer resources that can be better used for your system elsewhere:

To Disable These Animations and Fades:

1.) Click the Windows Start Button Icon.
2.) type the word "fade" (no quotes) in the search box
3.) select change the appearance of Windows from the list of choices. Click on that list.
4.) A dialogue box opens. These are your appearances and theme choices for how programs, menus, and other selections that are set by default in Windows 7.
5.) Click on the Customize Radio Button.
6.) Uncheck All items that say they word "Fade", "Animation", or any form of the word animate in them.
7.) Click Apply
8.) Click OK
9) Now close out of everything and try to open up your programs, such as your browser, Office Programs, Folders, right-clicking. Everything will open up about twice as fast because animation and fade options are all turned off!

too long; didn't read: I (2nd year CS Student) am looking for a way to increase the animation speed or disable the animation of the Logitech SetPoint "Application Switcher" Button on windows 7?

Hi All!

First off, I found this community by accident while looking for some tips and tricks! I registered and am curious to see if maybe I can receive some help or a pointer in the right direction with my issue (because it's not really a problem).

So, at home I have my windows 10 and use the M705 Logitech Mouse with the thumb-button configured to show my application switcher (Shows open Applications on current desktop and at the bottom a list of virtual desktops), which I LOVE.

Que coming to work. "Here's your windows 7 laptop."

... "thank you?" I do get it, security is important and they have it set up specifically to tailor their needs, so, while a tad disappointing, I understand why.

Anyway, I'm setting things up the way I like it and found that the windows 7 application switcher (ALT+Tab) isn't really that fantastic. I installed the SetPoint from Logitech because my mouse is more comfortable and was surprised to find that they had implemented a type of application switcher for windows 7! All in all, it works like a charm. The only downside being is that the animation is quite slow.

I've been souring the Interwebs for a secret setting and the install files for a config file to adjust but with little (I mean none at this point) ... Read more

Hey guys! So what determines the quality, aka screen res. of your display/monitor?

The monitor, graphics card, drivers for G card, Win OS, seriously what? I would love to learn!

If it helps I have a: http://h10010.www1.hp.com/wwpc/ca/e...4302-215012-215012-3770740-5034316.html?dnr=1

And will be getting a new G card equivalent to: http://www.newegg.com/Product/Produ...c=OTC-Froogle-_-Video+Cards-_-EVGA-_-14130610

Oh, and also, in video games (PC) like black ops, if I got this to be at 2560x1600, i played BO, or any other game would the options for resoplution be updated in the game? Right now it's only max 1920x1080, would it magically allow me to select 2560x1600 now?

A:What determines screen resolution?

If you had a monitor with that high of a resolution sure you could play Black Ops at that resolution. You would also need a card powerful enough.

A:what determines file sizes?

Bitrate is what determines file size, the higher the bitrate, the higher the quality and bigger file size. It sounds like you are using 128 kbps when you are ripping your CD's. But there are Mp3 bitrates up to 320 kbps which would be a bigger file size.

See what the bitrate is on the files you are downloading. Where are you getting these files from?

The only difference(that I can see) between the users that have to re-enter there password and those that don't is, in credential mgr. Those that don't have Enterprise persistence, and those that have to enter a PW have logon session persistence. We use hosted Exchange service, and I have verified that account settings in Outlook are correct, including NTLM auth, and proxy server settings. All users are logged on locally to the domain and run Win 7 x64. I'm starting to wonder if its a policy setting that is affecting credential persistence. Any help would be appreciated.

I am following a thread in a special interest forum. A user of a specific program is having trouble getting it running properly under Windows 7. Several people have stated that the program in question must be run with administrative privileges, but from what I know of the program, I don't understand why this should be necessary.

That brings me to the question of how Windows determines whether any arbitrary program is or isn't required to run under administrative privileges. Is this requirement established when the program is built, or is it determined somehow at run time?

A:What determines need for administrative privileges?

It depends.
Some programs need extra privileges just because of what they do, because they make changes that affect the whole system, including other users. For example, an anti-virus might need to scan everyone's files.

Some programs need extra privileges because they need low level access. For example, a disk degragmenting program moves things around on the hard disk directly (rather than via the OS.) That means the OS doesn't get chance to check file permissions, so the defrag program has to run as someone who shouldn't be blocked by file permissions.

Some programs just need extra privileges because of quirks in how they're written, especially if they were originally written for an older version of Windows. Windows has tended to become bolted up tighter as time has gone on. For example, some programs read and write files in their local folder, which is normally in "C:\Program Files". There's nothing about the program that means it couldn't have used another folder, it just chose that one.
Now that used to be fine, but Microsoft has since decreed that you can't mess with that folder unless you're an admin. Newer versions of Windows have some fairly sophisticated ways to help such programs out, but sometimes that's the kind of quirk that means a program needs extra permissions.

I'm now able to download my own songs onto my Samsung SYNC cell phone and use them for ringtones.......as long as they are under 300k. I 'm wondering if a simple song that lasts for say 30 seconds would less memory than a louder or bussier song of the same length.
When I look at the ring tone files that came with the phone it appears the simpler the tone the less memory.

A:What determines the file size of a MP3?

The bit rate, the length of the song, and the complexity of the audio content all figure into the size of an MP2 file.

For ring tones, I'd cut the bit rate down to 64kbits to make them smaller.

WXP, 512 Ram, 74 g Hard Drive -
Although some programs load faster than others, when I click on Microsoft Word 2002 it will take 30 seconds or so to load. Not a big deal really, however, my son obtained a Gateway Computer through a school district surplus. Don't know the age but it has W98SE. Microsoft Word 2000 was still on the computer. When I clicked on the Word icon it popped right open with no hesitation. The only programs still on the computer was Word, Excel and PowerPoint so would that make a difference on how fast a program opens whereas I have a lot of programs on my Computer? I still have 57 gig available on my hard drive.

A:What determines how fast program will load?

I'm not sure but I think it has to do with the Speed of your processor (measured in Hertz) and your RAM as well as how many programs are running in the background.

Where you might have other programs like Norton or ZoneAlarm running at the same time you try to open word, your son's computer probably is able to dedicate most of it's processing power and RAM (or Random Access Memory) solely to Word.

The amount of space on your hardrive (unless its 100Kb) shouldn't have much to do with the speed that programs open.

Somebody please tell me if i'm wrong.

Hope this helps!

When a user clicks on a link to a text-based file, what determines whether it opens in the browser window or prompts to open or save the file?

I have a web page that has links to many text files. All of the text files have the same extension (.cid) which is associated with TextPad on my PC. When I click on the link for some of the files, it opens the file directly in my browser window. When I click on the link for other files, it prompts to open or save the file. I can't figure out what is different about the files. They have the same extension and are both text files.

Is there some algorithm IE does to determine if the file can be opened in the browser? Is there some way to force one behavior or the other?

A:IE6 - What determines how a text file will be opened?

Hi superjess...welcome to TSF...

you should be able to change the behaviour by doing the following:

- In Explorer (not IE), click Tools then Folder Options then File Types
- Scroll down to 'TXT Text Document' and then click the advanced button
- Check the box titled 'Confirm open after download'
- Click OK then OK again
- Clear out your IE cache and try again..you should get the download box prompt

If it doesn't work, then the only thing I can suggest is to delete the file type entry and the corresponding registry entries and recreate it from scratch and that will fix it.

Post back if you need any more help :)

When considering a higher resolution monitor, what takes priority or restricts choice? Is it the system motherboard specs or the graphics card specs? Or does it depend on whether the monitor is to be connected to one or the other? Or is it more technical than that?

I have a 27" Samsung monitor with native resolution 1920 x 1080. I play DCS flight simulation and do get a pretty good picture but wondered if I could get an even better picture with a higher res monitor. I was thinking of increasing my ram to 32gig - the motherboard will handle that.

The graphics card is 'overclock edition' - I think that may mean it's factory overclocked - I don't enter the realms of overclocking.

A:What determines or restricts monitor specs?

It depends on what you mean by a better picture. If you are concerned about the color quality, you may just need to tune the settings on the monitor. If you think frame rate is your problem, then you should likely look in to a better video card. Simply increasing the resolution to a newer monitor may not make the picture "better".

Increase the amount of RAM will have nothing to do with picture quality. If it looks good to you now, why bother trying to change that?

What enables that, is it a driver, is it built into Windows 8, etc? I've got some other laptops around running Windows 8 and with an external mouse attached, they aren't auto scrolling.

A:What determines if Start Screen auto scrolls to the right?

Hey Patrick,

Usually you would need to install the touchpad drivers, and enable the "edge swipe" type option. Afterwards, it should scroll when swiping either edge of the touchpad.

If it's a Synaptics touchpad, then 16.2.21 is the latest driver version.

I have captured video off of DV Camera, VCR and TV (through DV Camera, via Firewire), onto my PC, many times.
But once I had edited the video, and tried rendering it (before burning to DVD) the rendering would simply stop, or the whole PC would freeze.
Of the number of times i have tried this, 80% of the time, the rendering of the video would be unsuccessful.

I had XP on that PC, Service Pack 2 and all the necesary updates. No programmes were running during the rendering process and there was always more than enough free space for the projects.

A:Cannot Render Video

Hrm, there's a number of things that can go wrong with rendering video.
First off, you need to make sure that you're using the correct codec for the format you want to render to.
Get the K-Lite Mega Codec Pack from http://www.k-litecodecpack.com/
That should get you all the latest codecs.

Then, there's the problem of which player you're using to render the video. Some players do better with some formats than others. Luckily, K-Lite incudes the best media players with the Mega Pack.

You are correct that a 1.6 GHz Intel processor (Centrino Celeron, I assume?) isn't optimal for Video Editing, but it should still be able to get the job done. Heck, I remember editing video on my old Celeron 533Mhz. Sure, it took all day to render a short video clip, but it eventualy got there. :). I'd get a Pentium D 3.20 Ghz and overclock it to around 3.60~3.80 Ghz and slap in 3GB of DDR2 RAM and an ATI FireGL card if I really wanted to make a beast of a Video Editing machine. But that's just me.

Since WMM wont do that, Im importing that capture into Ulead Video Studio 8 and using that to render out to a 720 x 480 format. (this is taking the time). But the output from here is too large for a 4.7G disk and there appears to be no way to compress it from within Ulead.

Once its in the right size format, then it can be imported into Adobe Premiere, and Encore DVD. (once there, further encoding/ burning was a snap last time - 2 hr program encoded and burned in under an hour last time) and THAT product fits perfectly on a 4.7G disk.

but I dont recall Ulead taking that long to render last time.

I just had the new RAID mirror drives installed, would this have anything to do with it?

any ideas?

A:Render Times

Capture at 720x480 to begin with, what device are you using to capture?

Edit: Nevermind... you're the same one that posted before... your going trhrough way too many steps. Capture once and convert it once. You're just making problems for yourself, I think the biggest problem is the device you are using. See the thread I started on capturing VHS, about all the information you need for gettin the file to your computer is there.

Ok, I keep getting this error when I try to load one specific game:
'Can't create opengl render. You might be missing some required opengl extensions, check the log for more info.'

The log does not show any errors. it shows successful execution of the program, and unknown self termination, at the same time of this error. I have made sure that none of my other programs are closing the program, and windows 7 recognized it as a self termination.

This is my video card according to HWiNFO:
Video Chipset: Intel GMA 4500(M)(HD)
Video Card: Intel GM45/47 Chipset - Integrated Graphics 0 [Toshiba AIS]
Video Ram: (cannot seem to find this one. neither HWiNFO or the os shows it)

I just recently got this laptop, eg. the end of november.
2.2GHz x64 core2duo, 4GB Ram.
Toshiba Satellite A505.

How would I get the needed files, or since this program does not have native support for DirectX, would I be able to get a "plugin" file to allow this?

A:OpenGL render error.

Ok, why didn't you specify the game?

The game is important when addressing this issue.
You can download GPU-Z to get all the info on your GPU as well.

And you don't get a plugin to support an API that your GPU...doesn't support.

And your sig is an insult.

I have a laptop that will soon be put in retirement, as I'm getting a faster one that I can take to school with me but I was hoping to use this old laptop to help me render some of my projects out for class. However I have no idea how to start, I don't know if I can just connect my two laptops together or if I have to do anything special. So, how would I do this?

Looks okay. That GPU is compatible with Adobe Premiere Pro mercury playback engine.

I'd build my own rig if this is for a personal purchase.

If it's for corporate, I guess you're with Dell for a reason. Increase the GPU to a GTX 660, or a 2GB model if you can.

Im trying to do a space scene ( http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KGcToM_DyKU ) and when i try to render it using the post render menu, it either says "camera not found" or "internal error". In the case of the camera not being found, i just close the dialog box and retry. When it says internal error, it crashes. Both of these things happen right after completely rendering the first frame. If it's not one, it's the other. I need help quick!

P.S. Im using 3ds Max 10

A:3ds Max Post Render Problem

i sort of fixed the problem by switching the render output to .mov instead of .avi. i still dont know why it crashes on .avi but its annoying since i have a pc and i suck at windows movie maker (or it sucks). I've had to result in the painful task of using my school's macs.

This is the second install on older hardware (Intel 945gm chipset) within two months that has IE9 unreliability, with some sites failing to render at all.

I have reinstalled flash player, Java, reset Internet Options to default, and it still just hangs there. This is very annoying.

I had a similar situation two months ago and ended up installing Firefox to solve it. Is this a known issue? Is there are decent troubleshooter?

A:IE fails to render some sites

A google search.

EnhanceIE.com - Troubleshooting Internet Explorer problems
Problem: Slow Page rendering

1. Increase the connection limit. This tweak allows IE to make up to 16 connections per server.

2. Ensure that both "HTTP1.1" checkboxes in Tools | Internet Options | Advanced are checked

Hello

I have recently updated my computer from Windows XP to Windows 7 Professional. The installation was successful but I had to re download all my content. After I had downloaded steam I reinstalled several newer, biggish games (Eg; Skyrim, Fallout New Vegas etc) but when I attempt to run them I get the error message 'Failed to initialize renderer'

I asked on the steam forums but only got answers like 'there's just nothing you can do. You graphics card is too old. " But I know that this isn't the case as I have run both Skyrim and Fallout NV on the same machine without problem before I updated to Windows 7.

Specs

Dell DM051
Windows 7 Professional 32-bit
Intel Pentium 4 CPU 3.20 GHz
DirectX 11
Standard VGA Grpahics Adapter
I don't mind playing with low graphics if it is necessary, I just want to get my game running.

Things I've already tried

Updating Video card drivers (though I'm not sure if I did it correctly)
Installing all current windows updates
Deleting the games and reinstalling them
Running the games in windowed mode
Setting it to the lowest resolution/graphics quality

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Failed to initialize render

Standard VGA Grpahics Adapter

It's not installed correctly. It should show something like:

Video Adapter Intel(R) 82945G Express Chipset Family (224 MB)

What is the service tag on your Dell?
Also go into Device Manager and check for any other devices with a yellow warning sign.

Okay here's my problem. When I fire up a game and I finally get to either the main menu or somewhere else Direct3D is used, the screen is all garbled, flashes, and appears to be a rendering issue to me. The games I tried it in were GTA: Vice City, Dues Ex 2, and Warcraft III TFT.

Here's the System...

Asus A7N8X mobo (nforce2 chipset)
512mb RAM Corsair XMS 3200DDR (Just 1 stick, should be 2 i know...)
Radeon 9700 Pro 128

incase you need this...
350 watt power supply
Western Digital hard drive, 80 gigs
Windows XP Professional

I have the NEWEST:
bios flash
Catalyst Drivers
nforce2 drivers

and Im running pretty much the default settings on the motherboard AND under the video card settings in the display control panel.

I've been scouring the internet for days and I've tried almost everything without luck so any help would be MUCH appreciated. Thanks in advance =)

A:Radeon 9700 Pro 128 Won't Render

First off, dont flash your bios unless it is preventing you from using a feature you need. If your computer worked fine with the bios you have, no sense in upgrading it. I think you may have a corrupt DirectX install. Run dxdiag from the command line and see if all of your files are installed. Then run some of the basic DirectDraw and Direct3D tests, to see if they work. If that doesnt help, try earlier versions of the catalyst software. When I upgraded from 3.8 to 3.10 I could no longer control AA and AF in any of my games. I think older drivers may be the better way to go, just so you know if that is the problem or not. I've had the best success with catalyst 3.7 drivers, which may seem old. I use the same board you do, and had a Radeon 9700 pro at one time (9800 now) and had a few probs with artifacting and poor frames in certain games, battlefield was the most noticeable. Also, does your computer lock up, or just not play those games right. You might want to check the heatsink for attachment. And the last thing I can think of at the moment is the SMARTGART tool that ATI integrates into their drivers. dont uninstall this, if you did, reinstall your drivers. This can be helpful in troubleshooting.

If you can post with a few more details I willl help out further.

IE 8 with XP, Windows Server 2003
Firefox any Windows version I have tried
but wrong with IE 8 on Windows 7 Ultimate 64 bit and Windows 7 Professional 32 bit

Objects that should be 'off-stage' in Flash are visible.

I am NOT using the 64 bit of IE8

Is there a known problem with W7?
my example: www.jimlanders.com/site_flash which is an unmodified Flash template that I purchased.
