Can i change windows login pass without changing microsoft pass too?

Q: Can i change windows login pass without changing microsoft pass too?

Ok so i am furious with Micro$oft now! the other day i was FORCED to change my microsoft account after much nagging i did so and i dont like changing logins too much. (this was a week ago)
now for some random reason on earth without my permission my windows login also changed login passwords to the microsoft account. I DONT WANT THAT! that password is too long and complicated for someone who locks his computer every 5 minutes or so. why did this just kick in now? i changed M$ account pass over a week ago and today it decides to change windows login?! can i change JUST my local windows login separate from microsoft login?
if i try to change pass from settings it it goes online and says you cant use password that has been used before.

Preferred Solution: Can i change windows login pass without changing microsoft pass too?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Don't go for a password. Use the PIN option That's just what you need and it's really a great thing as well.

Hello guys!

As you can see on the title I think you understand my problem...
I don't have any idea why is it happening.

And I have formatted my computer recently.

A:Can't login to windows and enterted the right pass!

What error message? Sure caps-lock is OFF!!?

Well, it happened this morning when I booted up my computer. Everything went ok until the "Welcome" screen(loading personal setting etc), when this window pops up:

(Sorry, I don't have an actual screenshot. This was doodled up in ms paint, but it gets the point across.)
Both, when I click either YES or NO, I get taken to the windows login screen. When I click on my account, the same result.

Side note:
- I'm using Windows XP Home with SP2
- Safemode works. I've ran AVG anti-virus/spyware, spybot s&d, ad-aware and got rid of a few infections, but it didn't solve the problem.
- I believe that this is caused by explorer.exe(infected?), because there were error messages every 30 minutes regarding explorer(running malicious script?) prior to this. It also did not show up in safemode. But, I'm not sure.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.

Hi All,
I tested the following attacks in Microsoft Advanced Threat Analytics and found them
not to be working.

Bruteforce Attack Pass-The-Ticket Pass-The-Hash Sensitive account exposed Using Plain-Text Authentication
I have tested other attacks like Reconnaissance
using DNS, Broken Trust, Honey Token account suspicious activities but they are working perfectly fine. I don't know
what's the issue with the above 4.
1. Bruteforce Attack:
I used thc-hydra-windows and triggered a dictionary attack using a list of passwords.

2. Pass-The-Ticket:
I used mimikatz to steal the kerberos ticket from a PC on which Admin is logged on. Impersonating an attacker, I copied the .kirbi file and Injected that file(using mimikatz again) to another PC on which a domain user is logged in.

3. Pass-The-Hash:
(Same as above)
4. Sensitive account exposed in plain text authentication:
I used mimikatz command 'sekurlsa :: logonpasswords' and was able to get passwords of all the users who logged on to that PC. But this was also not detected by MATA.

Please help me with the above issues. If possible, provide the tools using which I can trigger and detect those attacks.

Help pl0x.

A:Windows doesn't save DailUp Login:Pass

Known issue since way back when.

Personally, I think it's intentionally disabled for the betas so as to keep your logins safe during the info change between your pc and ms.

I think someone built a batch file to use as a work around.

Strange and hopefully small problem -

(From a remote desktop session) I changed my windows username (ex from kurt to dan) I didn't change the password.

When I rebooted the computer, the new username dan appears, but when I enter the old password, it says "incorrect password".

So I switch to other user, and type in kurt (old name) and pass, it works and logs in - but shows my new name dan in the start menu etc...

I don't think the remote desktop session had anything to do with it.

I just wanted to change my username from kurt to dan, but something went wrong somehow..

Thoughts appreciated

I have recently installed ATA (1.8.6645.28499). It is now in to the second week of its learning phase and it is raising a considerable number of false pass-the-hash alerts when users initiate Citrix sessions from their usual PC using pass-thru authentication,
eg a typical alert would be:
Bloggs,Fred's hash was stolen from one of the computers previously logged into by Bloggs,Fred and used from xx1234
Clearly this is spurious - in each case the user is initiating a Citrix session from their
own PC and the xx1234 represents a Citrix server in the farm in every case.
1) Why am I only receiving a handful of related PTH alerts each day when I have many thousands of Citrix users, all authenticating in the same manner?
2) How can I supress these alerts?
What I effectively want to say is 'IF the suspected PTH is being triggered BY the user on their OWN PC and the target server is in our Citrix farm' then ignore it. I can't see a way of setting an exclusion range like this for PTH events though?

I'm setting up a server at work and I really don't know the ins and outs of security settings etc.. So this is a pet project of mine.

Basically, I want any computer (regardless of network name) to be able to access a share, but be prompted for a user name and password to open the directory.

Usually (it would seem), Windows 2000 just plain old denies access to anyone who does not have user account ont he server. If I can get it to prompt for a user name /pass before this, then that will serve my purposes quite nicely.

A:Ask users for login/pass to access network shares in Windows 2000?

I believe the NET command in XP/2k permits passing a username/login.

Also, when mapping a network drive to a network share, you have the option of putting in a user/pass.

Last time I checked our rules haven't changed. We cannot give any more help than what we gave 5 days ago: http://forums.techguy.org/windows-vista-7/839150-password-help.html

I will give one more hint though. If you can login to Safe Mode with the special Administrator account you can change any other password. People often set that password to null (blank). Opening a second thread on a topic that was closed could subject you to a temporary ban, but I'll gladly give you a pass on this one. Good luck.

Most sites have a way to recover your password by entering your account/email. If not, perhaps you can send them e-mail directly discussing your problem.

A couple days ago I did the upgrade to windows 10 from 7 for my parents on their computer.

The way it was set up in Win 7, after startup you would see a screen with their 2 profile pics and it was easy to just click one and log in. Neither had a password to enter. After the upgrade, my father's account started asking for a password. Years ago he had opened a Hotmail account and Windows apparently links that MS online password to win 10 and started requiring it. Luckily he remembered it and has been able to log in.

The problem is they want things to work the way they did before. They want to log in and switch accounts during the day without my father having to enter a password each time.

I have already tried going to Settings>Accounts>Sign in options and switching the "Require sign-in" setting to never. This didn't seen to do anything.

I also did the Run>netplwiz then uncheck the User must enter password box for My father's account.

Now after shutdown, the computer logs into my Dad's account automatically and bypasses the login screen so my mother has to switch to her account from my Dad's. Then when switching back from mother's to father's account again windows asks for father's password again! It's frustrating as hell.

All they want is for both of them to be able to boot up and click on their account to log in and switch between them without passwords. Is this possible in Windows 10 and if so, how?

A:How to set up no pass login for 2 accounts on 1 computer

Hello everyone.
3 nights ago; I made a mistake and double clicked on an exe file ( normally I knew enough notto make such things; but hey; sometimes you do things...) ; which scanned by McAffe and scanned as clear of any viruses.

However after doing that; almost all exe files started asking for permission access internet. Realizing that I screwed; I plugged off cable connection and all usb external HDDs.

After that I ran McAffe scan (which lasted whole night) ; and it showed maybe 1500 exe files in the system infected with something called New Win 32; however the program could not exactly point out which variant.

Also there was one file infected with "Generic.dx" and one file infected with "W32/Sality!Mem" .

After doing this I turned off the PC; came to work and strolled in forum to see if similar cases. I came through your site ; obtained info on how to use combo fix and acquired all the files and quides to execute. When I reached home; I turned on PC to follow through the steps advised in the guides.

However there was one surprise !!!

When the pc came to the Windows login screen; the keyboard does not allow me to type in password !!! The keyboard is operational and working. The mouse works fine as well. However the number and character keys don't type. Hi there
The idea of passwords has got a bit ridiculous these days - and with the modern power of computers and decent algorithms some can be easily cracked.

Why can't we simply type in a sentence as a password - easier to remember - can type in a huge number of languages and much harder to crack.

The latest piece of rediculousness is that there's a client I'm doing a gig for - you get an automatic generated password - but it's so ridiculous and unmemoriable that you have to write it down in order to log on again !!!!

Biological ideas like thumbprints etc are no good anyway - the criminals would just cut your finger tip off or something.

With ATM's instead of a Pin number the machine could ask YOU a question based on your pass phrase such as "last football match attended - enter 1 if Liverpool, 2 if Man utd 3 if Chelsea" . The logic in the ATM could easily be modified to spit this out on the screen.

The whole password / logon sequence could be made DYNAMIC with questions and answers rendering successful hacking almost impossible -- certainly "Brute Force" attacks could be basically eliminated.

Please print out or copy this page to Notepad. Make sure to work through the fixes in the exact order it is mentioned below. If there's anything that you don't understand, ask your question(s) before proceeding with the fixes. You should 'not' have any open browsers when you are following the procedures below.

Go to My Computer->Tools/View->Folder Options->View tab and make sure that 'Show hidden files and folders' (or 'Show all files') is enabled. Also make sure that 'Display the contents of system folders' is checked. If you have Windows XP, the search feature is a little different. When you click on 'All files and folders' on the left pane, click on the 'More advanced options' at the bottom. Make sure that 'Search system folders', 'Search hidden files and folders', and 'Search subfolders' are checked.

For the options that you checked/enabled earlier, you may uncheck them after your log is clean. If we ask you to fix a program that you use or want to keep, please post back saying that (we don't know every program that exists, so we may tell you to delete a program that we think is bad to keep).

Press Ctrl+Alt+Del. If it brings up Task Manager, create a new task and run %windir%\explorer.exe. If this brings up the desktop, then according to the posted HijackThis log, this is my speculation (assuming your system is clean of malware):

Too many startup processes. Any undue change to any of them can cause problem during startup. If you could remember the very last time you had accessed the internet before this problem cropped up, did your hard disk light blinked a lot? Some programs were actively reading or writing to your machine. It could be Windows update or ZoneAlarm or others. Undo Windows update, uninstall ZoneAlarm, unintall IME, uninstall Java, etc. Try to minimize or simplify you startup process. Get replacement, another version of Java or from the other vendor, another firewall, another IME, etc.

Sorry for the delay. When I solved my similar problem, the thread is closed. So I post here in case anyone care to read. I uninstall ZoneAlarm, zap clean the registry with Registry Easy 4.7, replace it with Comodo Internet Security Free 3.5.54375.427. How do you Update from Windows?

A:Hp Simple Pass on Windows 10

@Familotel? The following assumes your computer is a consumer grade notebook and NOT a business notebook. Windows 10 comes installed with Windows fingerprint logon software -- from Microsoft. Once configured with a PIN number to allow access to the fingerprint portion of the logon, Windows 10 Logon can log you into your computer account using the fingerprint scanner. SimplePass might be offered for your computer from your computer's website support page for Windows 10.  If the program is not at your computer's website support page, you can still download a copy of the program from HP. If you have never had SimplePass on the computer in the past, you want to install and run the latest version of the Series 8 HP SimplePass program. If you used run HP SimplePass on your computer, then you want to install the latest version of the HP SimplePass program in the same "Series" as you have used in the past. There are two separate (and unrelated) SimplePass program sets: AuthenTec Series 6 HP SimplePasssp63224 HP SimplePass V6.0.100.276 Win7-8 Softex Series 8 HP SimplePasssp71729 HP SimplePass V8.01.46A W7-W10 32/64bit  In addition to the program itself, you will need the Validity Driver that supports the fingerprint scanner built into the computer.  SimplePass talks to the Validity Driver -- the driver talks to the fingerprint hardware. If your computer is new (not migrated to Windows 10), you likely already have ... I would like to pass all the "Windows Logo key + other key" shortcuts through to my app.

Is there a way to stop Windows 7 (and Windows XP) intercepting some of them, e.g. Win+e.

For anyone searching, here's the full list:
Shortcut Keys for Windows 7

A:Q: Windows Logo Key - pass all to app?

You mean other then writing fragile code that might break with a new update or version, that hacks into the low under belly of Windows?

At which point are you asked for the password?

Do you mean to access setup [ the BiOS ] on your computer; at a screen that has a user name & icon?

Do you mean after your computer desktop appears?

Does the password request when you run a particular problem/

Which W7; 32 or 64 bit; which service pack [ SP ]?

Had there ever been an operating system [ Windows, Linux ] been installed on the computer? Were your actions as part of an upgrade or as a clean install?

More information about the situation will be useful.

I was trying to load up a ebook file I downloaded, and I noticed that it was recently associated with a program called Digital Pass, which appears to be some kind of player, although I cannot figure out for what. I've never seen it before. I don't know where it came from, or where the program resides. It is on my pinned content in a 2 block tile. Has my computer gotten some malware? Or is this a native program that I simply didn't notice before? If the latter, what exactly is it supposed to do?
Of a seperate matter, I think my computer may have gotten some malware, but not sure. I had one program in the startup called Slick Savings Helper and Search Settings, by Spigot Inc, but I was able to disable those. Might there be others? Or does my computer slow down for other reasons?

A:Is Digital Pass a Windows 8 App?

Didial Pass and Spigot are programmes installed by something you have installed ans this usually happens when you press "Continue" or "OK" without checking the install screen.  Yhen you do an install you should check the screen and untick any boxes that suggest a programme other that the one you are installing.  This has become common practice now and there are a lot of backdoor installations that you are unaware of.  "Revo Uninstaller" have a free version obtainable here: https://www.google.com.au/webhp?hl=en&tab=iw&gfe_rd=cr&ei=CMyHU5gFy8LyB-7jgYgI#hl=en&q=revo+uninstaller+free
This programme will revove unwanted installations.  IOBIT have a similar programme and neither will install unwanted installs.
You might also look up "Should I remove It" which is a programme that will tell you what the installed programmes on your system do and it will give you the opportuity to uninstall.  It is available here: http://www.shouldiremoveit.com/download.aspx
