Can't find Activation Key for Windows 7 ISO from Digital River

Q: Can't find Activation Key for Windows 7 ISO from Digital River

I first purchased Windows 7 Home Edition (32-bit), then upgraded online to Windows 7 Pro (32-bit).
The hal.dll corrupted and I couldn't fix the problem because I only had the Home Edition discs.

Several sources in Forums advised me to fix the problem using a boot disk from an ISO downloaded from Digital River.
That disc couldn't fix the hal.dll problem either so I did the Custom Install. That put a new installation of Windows 7 Pro on the computer.
Now I'm being asked for the Activation Key. The Key I was given when I upgraded to Pro isn't being accepted. I'm told that the Key I was given only works for the Windows 7 Pro upgrade..!

I've signed-on to the Microsoft site and followed links around for a while, but I can't find any understandable information about my problem. How do I get the Activation Key for Windows 7 Pro now that it's been reinstalled?

Thanks

Preferred Solution: Can't find Activation Key for Windows 7 ISO from Digital River

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello,

so, I went on with buying windows7 for students (german version, since I write this from germany).
Digital River Download manager, downloads the 3 files... 2 of them are fine, but on around 50% of the 3rd file, I get the message that reads something like this:

"The destination file could not be located on the server. Digital River download manager that you are using seems to be outdated. Would you like to visit Digital River Website?"

Yes / No

When I click on "yes" nothing happens. I REINSTALLED vista completely just minutes ago, and tried downloading it again... same thing. Same error, the download cannot finish.
Anyone else experienced this or with any solution on the matter?

Regards.

A:Digital River unable to find filr 3/3 on the server

Finally there's someone with the same problem: Mein Beileid btw
I am from Germany as well, bought the german 64bit upgrade for students and tried to download it via digital river. At 49% when part 3/3 starts it is stuck complaining that the file can not be found etc. same as above.

My first research has brought up that this error does not seem to be that common... let's hope for some more complaints!

A few days ago I wanted to download Windows 7 Profesional 32 bit iso from Digital River. It started to download and then it stopped to download at 10.9 mb. I tried to download it with Free Download Manager, Internet Download Manager, DownThemAll but it also stopped at 99%. This problem is on all my browsers. I didn't have any Internet Connection problems while downloading the iso. I tried to download files that are larger than 2GB but its the same problem. I am on a DSL connection. I need this iso to install it on another computer. How to solve this problem ?

A:Why I can't download Windows 7 Profesional 32 bit from Digital River ?

Usually what happens after 99% is that the file is moved from a temp folder to the download folder, and then scanned by your antivirus program. Try and delete all browsing history, verify there's enough free space on the disk, and temporarily disable the antivirus.

My friends who have got their copies using the MSDN AA have had theirs as iso files which they have been able to burn and install from there. Will the download from here be in the same format or will it be the same as the ultimate 64 bit download (3 seperate files)

It will not be in three seperate files. that was a torrented fiel. It will come in either an ISO (most likely) or a vhd (doubtful). to burn you take the ISO file and burn it to dvd using an app like IMGburn, or powerISO, etc

I've been following the above thread where a guy kept trying to download a Windows 7 iso from Digital River, and it was wrong size/'not an iso' etc. Even though I don't need any iso's myself, I thought I'd have a go at downloading one to see what the OP's problem was. Sure enough I had the same result - 2.49GB (not 3.09GB for x64). Twice in fact.

That was browser download, so I tried 2 separate download managers. Seemed fine at first, but both stopped at 99.9%. Curious . . .

I'm starting to wonder if Microsoft are playing the old 'poison torrent' game - record labels sometimes release bad torrents of music CDs into the wild and fans download them (illegally) but are disappointed when it's a fake. After a few more useless attempts to get the CD, the pirate gives up and buys the product (well that's the theory).

Pretty soon all computers on sale will be Windows 8, and a lot of folk will buy one but want to downgrade to W7. MS seem to be moving the goalposts on that scenario, but no probs - we can just get a W7 iso from Digital River. Or can we ???

Just like the 'poison torrents', after several failed W7 Digital River downloads I guess MS expect us all to give up and buy into W8 (and buy their video's + mp3's).

A:Something wrong at Digital River ?

You can remove your tin foil hat - sort of.

I used Pale Moon to download the ISO mentioned in the thread and it was fine
(e.g. I could mount it via Virtual CloneDrive and look around at the files...
...I could also build a virtual machine from it via VirtualBox.).

I also downloaded two other ISOs at the same time. One was fine, but X17-59465 was weird.
The last ISO in the screenshot above should be that same size as the first ISO.
X17-59465.iso looked fine.
I could mount it via Virtual CloneDrive.
I could even start the OS install process, but it barfed:

Notice the size being reported during the download.
That download was the 3rd try.
The completed download below it was 2nd try.

And these two download attempts were via another ISP:

Both of those downloads were via IE10. Both claimed that the download was interrupted. I looked at the file size of the ".partial" file before hitting the Resume button. The ".partial" file was the same exact file size (2.619...) shown in the first image of this post. Pressing Resume started the download all over again - but the "resumed" download made no claim of an interruption. Each second try just gave me the 2.619... file.

How odd.

In our household we have two students, and so ordered a copy of Windows 7 Professional and Windows 7 Home Premium in both x64 and x86 versions - a total of 4 products from Digital River.

Having used their download manager to download these files, I now have 6 files: 4 .exe files (as expected) plus 2 files named setup1.box and setup2.box.

The .exe files are, however, only just over 70KB each, setup1.box is almost 3GB and setup2.box is 163KB.

Running the Home PRemium versions fails immeditaely, saying it can't find the required files. Running the Pro x64 .exe file starts to build a .iso file ("Unloading the box"), but then fails with an unspecified error.

Any ideas?

What a nightmare!!!

I have just had an email from Digital River, that I will be getting a full refund for the Windows 7 upgrade within the next 30 days, for the problems caused. I haven't even emailed them to complain (yet!)

The email also states that if I ordered the backup cd's these would still be dispatched.

Ok, I know some have cracked it, and others haven't, but I thought I would share this one with you.

I am running a MacBook Pro, and had Windows XP running under bootcamp. Downloaded from Digital River and had all the problems. Finally got it to boot, but wouldn't install due to unable to create folder.

Scrubbed bootcamp partition and tried using Parallels. So far so good, but not for long. Won't take my product key as I have the upgrade product 32bit, but at least it got that far.)

Now, reloading windows XP on bootcamp, and my XP disc has a scratch on it and can't be read

Ah well

Any help would be great.

There is no trial version of Win7, only a 30 day grace period before you must activate so you can decide if this is an install you want to keep. You should already own a license. If so then read carefully over the steps to get and keep a perfect Clean Reinstall Windows 7. It discusses in Step 1 how to find replacement media.

As Jann from Heidoc reports in Windows 7 Direct Download Links as of now only English and Spanish are still up, links being replaced by a new MS Recovery Center that provides ISO's for a retail Product Key.

I'd also had heard from SIW2 who couldn't get it to take his retail key due to a Language error. I also had the same error on two of my retail Keys. The address we were using is Microsoft Software Recovery

But if it's not allowing Product Keys from COA stickers then it is another ridiculous attack on the ability of MS customers to get the best possible install of the OS they bought with their PC even after over a million consumers have done so following Clean Reinstall Windows 7. I honestly thought we were beyond this, but apparently not.

I'm going to wait a day before bringing this up to the MVP forums to see if anything changes.

It looks like the Digital River iso downloads of Windows 7 are done. A person now has to enter a key on this page to get the iso. I have not confirmed yet if an OEM Windows 7 key will work. Maybe Microsoft will reinstate those links but I doubt it.

A:Microsoft Digital River iso downloads - gone for good?

Looks like they are gone. sari and Toffee informed me about it yesterday, apparently, a lot of people (including MVPs) aren't happy with that decision, but there's nothing that can be done. I have the Windows 7 Professional SP1 64-bits .iso on my computer, which is one of the most popular, and I can access all the others be entering the product keys I have and also use my e5.onthehub (DreamSpark) account, but I think that uploading them and distributing them would be illegal. This is kind of stupid too. What if the person needs a recovery DVD to access the Recovery PE, but lost his product key on the sticker. The only way would be to grab it from Windows itself, but it wouldn't be bootable. Hopefully they'll make these .iso available to the public again.

I purchased the student offer version of Windows 7 yesterday top up grade from XP, as for ?30 I thought I couldn't go wrong.

So there I was this morning thinking I could set a side a few hours to get it all up and running but 11 hours later i still dont even have all of the first .box file downloaded!

I live off campus (in the UK), but still have a cable broadband connection and can usually expect file download speeds of 300-800kb/s as reported by the windows download window.

Now I know that there is probably high demand on Digital River's servers at the moment, but still... My download has only managed 40-50kb/s on average with a couple of short peaks to 70-90kb/s.

At this rate it'll be tomorrow evening before I get to a point where I can install.

Anyone else having this problem, or ideas of how to speed things up? I ask as i can't find anywhere else which mentions this problem, only people talking about creating .iso files as if their download flew by and now they're installing.

So, I finally got Windows 7 Professional Upgrade (since I'm a student) to start downloading through my Campus' proxy and after downloading smoothly for a half an hour or so it hit 68% and paused. At first I thought nothing of it, but now when I try to click "resume" it downloads about .01-.02mb of data and then pauses again all in less than a second.
Anyone know how I might fix this? I've exited the Download Manager and started it again a couple of times, and restarted my computer and have unplugged/plugged back in my Ethernet cord.
Any help would be much appreciated, thanks!

As I posted several days ago, I am just shocked that MS didn't work with Digital River to get a solution out there ASAP...to avoid just this type of press. I really have been surprised that I didn't get an email a day or two after release day from DR or MS stating, "if you have issues, you can download the ISO from here." I mean seriously, what's the value of the ISO without a key?...and if you managed to get a cracked key, I doubt access to the install media is what is holding you back.

I am sure that this issue is DR's fault since they appear to have written the installer based on its signature...but the result is the same either way - bad press for MS and Win 7.

Anyway, just thought that I would share.

My computer knowlegde is limited, so any suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

A:Win7 Digital River Master Disc Won't Boot

You say you can't boot from the disk even after making correct BIOS boot order settings, but then describe the disk loading. How does the disk load if not booted?

Do you get the prompt to "hit any key to boot from CD/DVD drive?" If you do this, does it then begin loading with a progress bar and proceed as you say? That is booting from the DVD.

If it was not able to boot from the DVD then it would start into Windows 7 and probably bring up the Autoplay menu of the DVD in the drive. Is this what happens?

It is possible that the DVD only has the files and isn't bootable. If so, we can help you create a bootable ISO from the files to burn to a DVD.

Hi!So I recived my Thinkpad x1 yoga 3:rd gen on the 18th of july and have been trying to return this machine since the 22second of july and I have yet to get even a RMA. I have now sent about 6 emails to the support through lenovo and have recently even contacted Digital River support directly and still now response what so ever. The problem is that I have payed for this machine, and these are not cheap machines as you all know, and I find it extremly frustrating that even though i have done nothing wrong since i am still within the 14 days of getting the product, i still get no help in returning my machine and get my money back. I live in the EU and if I dont get my money back and get a RMA so that I can send this machine back to lenovo, then that means that lenovo or digital river are breaking the law. So my tip to everyone is that you througly document when you get your product and carefully document when you send your emails so that you can prove that you are eligable to a return/refund and that you dont get scammed. Very wierd behaviour from such a big and well known company, espacially on machines that cost over 2k dollars... For those that wonder the reason i want to return this machine is that it heats up so fast when plugged in and there is some coil whine on it aswell as the fact that it does not cut it for the tasks i had in mind. The last reason is obviously my fault since i did not do enough research but the heat and the performance due t... Read more

Here is some information about how to successfully backup and restore Windows 10 activation when installed through what Microsoft calls "digital entitlement", i. e. having used the free upgrade offer from a previous Windows version.

It is mainly intended for advanced users with interest in and basic knowledge about how Windows activation works, and to understand everything you should be familiar with the registry, command line and access rights.

As you may already know, having once activated Windows online with a digital entitlement you can always do clean installs through a Windows 10 DVD afterwards without entering a product key, and when connecting to the Internet Windows verifies that it was installed on the same hardware and automatically activate again.

There is however a way to backup this activation information and after a clean install restore it completely offline, without the need of going online once.

Those who have already experimented with methods that were valid on earlier Windows versions up to 8.1, or used activation backup and restore tools for these versions, will have come to the conclusion that these methods do not work with Windows 10's digital entitlement - Windows always insists on connecting to the Internet once for activation.

Still the files that contain activation information and need to be backed up and restored are:
%SystemRoot%\System32\spp\store\2.0\data.dat
%SystemRoot%\System32\spp\store\2.0\tokens.dat
%SystemRoot%\System32\spp... Read more

Very interesting, thanks for the info...

I'm going slightly off-topic here, but do you know by any chance a way to convert W7/8.1 activation information to W10 activation information in such a way that, for example I would bring this W7/8.1 activation info to a machine with internet access, run a tool that submits this info to the MS servers and creates W10 activation info that could be used later on the W7/8.1 system to replace it with W10 offline ?

I am building my own pc/htpc. As I am trying to set up the TV signal in Media Center, I got the following message: "You have entered the activation key for Windows. Please enter the activation key to enable support for digital cable."
Where and how do I get that digital cable activation key? My provider has already activated my cable card. Is that something that I get from Microsof in addition to the Windows Vista key ?
Any help would be appreciated?

Hello. I've searched high and low for answers, tried many suggestions, but haven't had any luck in resolving.
Symptoms:
1. OneDrive explorer won't display in Modern UI (tries to load, shows splash screen/logo initially, but in a flash, turns black / displays blank/black screen and just hangs there. however, OneDrive does appear in left pane of my Windows Explorer, and in
Charm/PC Settings/Accounts & OneDrive all settings appear correct, ie connected to my Microsoft account, shows Used vs Free cloud storage space available, etc...)
2. When I check onedrive.com, recent files created on my computer and saved to c:\users\[myusername]\OneDrive\etc... are not syncing/uploading automatically as they're supposed to.

Things I've tried:

sfc /scannowchkdsk /f /rControl Panel/Troubleshooting/ProgramsRan AppsDiagnostic.diagcab & onedrivets.diagcab tool/utilities

A:Solved: Need to find my activation key

The activation key is generated when you activate Windows and only good at that time. If its the product key that you are looking for then it should be attached to the computer/laptop or in the Windows Vista case.

Thanks, and best wishes for the New Year 2012!!!

A:Where would I find my KIS activation code

There are programs you can download which can usually dig activation codes out of your registry.

I can't think of the names right now, but Googling should bring up some candidates.

I think the code was in that White envolpe but I usally keep them in a CD case

Also would the steps be the same for other programs I have installed so i can write down the codes if I can't find the box.

A:How can I find the activation codes I used for programs

Maybe you can do a system backup to an external, and restore on to your new HDD.
There are programs out there that claim they can retrieve hte keys, I don't know how reliable they are...

I bought the Kodak digital picture which supports wi-fi. I had no trouble connecting to my secured wireless network by entering the key, but when the frame scanned for my computer on the network, it couldn't find it. I have xp home on my pc. I'm running the windows firewall and file and print sharing has been selected as an exception. I also have adaware, norton anti-virus and spybot tea time running but that's about it.

I thought there was a setting on the computer that says, allow others to see me, but I can't find it.

I would appreciate any help. Thanks

A:Can't Find PC - Wireless Digital Picture Frame

What is the exact model of the picture frame? Maybe there's a clue in the user's manual...

Do you have file/print sharing enabled on the XP machine? Did you actually share the disk and/or folder you store the pictures in?
