I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi halo - Have you had it sorted? I'm having same problem. Actually mine started from another place - the rubber nub at the right front cornor of the palm rest went off and missing. Because of that the cover started sliding back and forth a little when it was closed, and I'm quite sure it was the reason the latch was broken. Lenovo support did not know what part it was and said they wouldn't cover it anyway. These kind of small defects of Lenovo sometimes really drive me nuts.

I need to replace the battery on my HP Envy 15. However, this notebook does not have a battery release latch. How do I access the battery so that I can replace it?

A:Don't have a battery release latch

Hi, No, it does not have latch(es), you need to remove screws at the back/bottom and this is a VERY tricky task. Please start from page 31 of the following manual:     http://h10032.www1.hp.com/ctg/Manual/c04341936.pdf Note: Again, this is a risky task which may cause damages for your computer. Regards.

I just had to buy a replacement battery after 1 year of use (I bought this laptop about 13 months ago) . I have never had any problems with the battery latch before. To expend the life of the battery as per the salesman, I would remove the completely charged battery when using ac power.I took the old battery out since it wouldn't hold a charge only a few days before recieving the new battery. I went to install the new battery and discovered the latch would not move, making it impossible to install the new battery. This laptop has only one battery latch. So how in the world can i fix this problem?

A:HP G62-355DX Battery latch won't move

OOPS,,,,you will have some fiddling to do.Try a paper clip to move the spring, a nail file or other objects, but NOT so deep as to contact the mother board.Do this with the power off.At worst you will end up pulling the back off and doing a plastic replacement kit.Not such a hard job, just a few screws, there is a service PDF available for your notebook.

I was kind enough to catch the cord of my headphones with my leg and drag my IBM T20 notebook off the table, which resulted in a broken lid/screen latch. Luckily everything else survived okay.

I bought this used and it's pretty old anyway so there's no warranty.

Any ideas about fixing it? Anyone ever removed one of these or taken apart the lid/screen of their notebook? If I glue it, I'd like to at least get it out of there to make it easier to work with.

Any suggestions are appreciated.

this is a notebook mechanical question.  Didn't see a group for that. The slider on the latch that locks my notebook closed, popped out.  It has two tabbed hooks on it, not broken, but I can't seem to snap it back in so it stays.  Has anyone done this before...is there a trick to getting it inserted the right way  so it will stay in?  Or does this mean there is something broken inside the latch that this used to snap into?

Hi, on hindsight I should have asked this question at this forum first. But I was tired from doing all the researching and bit on an old x230 convertible laptop off ebay that supposedly has core i7 3520M, 4gb of ram, and 160gb ssd. It has been upgraded to windows 10. It has not arrived yet. At around $200, it seemed to me like a steal for the specs. I do think that these specs were user-upgraded and not factory-made so I cannot speak for the quality.I read rave reviews about this device, however, most were from several years ago. I never owed a device with this specs or a touchscreen laptop for that matter so I do not really know what to expect.I guess I will start out to see if anyone still second this as a solid convertible laptop in today's standard. Does windows 10 run well on it? Seem like a lot of people run into problems when upgrading to windows 10? Is there anything special about the touchscreen or is it just obsolete technology nowadays? I mean the most resource intensive thing I will do on this laptop is just playing some online flash games so I think it is way less than what it is capable of. I was just looking for a laptop that is upgradable and can stay relevant for a long time so did I make the right call? Any feedbacks are appreciated!

Despite YouTube how-to videos skimming the subject, I'm having difficulty sliding the Optical Drive tray release latch that's to the left of the side rear USB port so I can replace it with a HD caddy. It's either stuck or broken because it just won't budge to the right. The manual is skimpy on this operation as well and I'm very afraid of applying too much force and breaking something. Is there something one is supposed to prior sliding the latch or is it supposed to be this firm or is there another way of releasing it? Any hints much appreciated! And again, have a Happy New Year!! Hello people of the Lenovo forums. A friend of mine just gave me his Lenovo x230t, it looks like he tried formating it and handing it over to me but he didn't install all the drivers or what not. The laptop itself is from France (french keyboard) and I think when he installed the windows it was in french as well, I changed the setting and made it so everything is in english but when I installed the Lenovo System Update app it installed it in french and I cannot change it, same goes for Realtek. I went through this websites find and recommed me stuff to install, and it did install all the intel drivers and a bios update also I myself installed the driver that activates the tablet keys (screen rotate, task manager). My question is should I just clean install all over again? I got the windows key here so should I just reinstall the whole PC? its new so I got nothing important on it. If so, how should I go about it? I don't have the windows disk or any other driver disk. Another issue is that I cannot use my fingers on the touch screen, it only works with the stylus. I've seen people online scrolling through web pages and PDF using their fingers in touch, also using some other cool functions like opening all the curret apps in a scroll by pressing 4 fingers against the screen. Do I need to install a certain driver to do it? if so where? Sorry for writing so much and thank you for taking the time and reading it.I apologize if I broke an... Hello and welcome,

I'd be inclined to do a clean install, followed by System Update.  Since Win 10 has already been activated on that machine you likely won't need the key.

You can download Win 10 direct from Microsoft.  I haven't looked at the MS tool lately and don't know if the download varies by version (Home, Pro, ...) but if it does pick the one that matches your key.

Hey guys. It's me again. And I can't find a solution to this.Lately I've got USB 3.0 issues. In Device Manager it shows 2 drivers and devices as "Unknown USB Device (Link in Compliance Mode)". I don't know why it came up but this is driving me crazy. I've got toast notifications from this. My USB 3.0 flash disk won't always connect to laptop. And when it will connect, it takes a while before it does. But in Win7 all worked perfectly and I really don't know a solution to this.I tried reinstalling driver, updating. But it's working for a while. After that it's still showing an error. And there's no USB 3.0 drivers from Lenovo for Win10. Has anyone encountered that kind of problem in their ThinkPads? Hello all. My X230T screen had dead pixels, and laptop was under warranty, lenovo came and changed it.but only a few months after my screen started doing that depending of the inclination. if I move it, it change the "band" color, and on some position, it works OK.  I found on aliexpress replacement panels for 50$. Before buying it, I have few questions. 1) My screen has scratches. Is the panel I will buy will directly replace the one that is there, or is there a "glass" in front that I should replace at the same time, or is it the touchscreen ?I imagine there is a protective glass in front because there is the "lenovo" sign showed for instance and it's not present on the panel, and it seems to be same part. To said it other way (sorry for my english), when I put my finger on the screen, do I touch directly the panel (that will be replaced) or is there any sort of covering glass in front? 2) I think some screen problem like this can be due to a faulty cable, but from what I read the problem would be on whole screen, not only on a line like it is now. Can anyone confirm this ? 3) If indeed it's the panel that is defective, in this kind of situation is it possible to "fix" the panel, like I don't know, putting something to "push" on the false contact so the contact stays ?  4) My panel is LP125WH2-SLB3.
