Where to manually download KB 911895 - Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter

Q: Where to manually download KB 911895 - Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter

Need to fix the screensaver issue that doesn't kick in for users that have an IntelliPoint wireless mouse. Installing the KB 911895 from Microsoft via Windows Update solves this problem. However we need to automate applying this update to
our users. We can't go to every user that needs this resolved and run windows update manually to get this update. Can't seem to find a way to get my hands on this update to deploy silently where it's needed. Any idea's how I can get this
update manually?
We are Windows 7 Enterprise 64-bit.

Thank you in advance for any assistance on this matter,
Pam Cole

Preferred Solution: Where to manually download KB 911895 - Microsoft HID Non-User Input Data Filter

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am getting the
HID Non-User Input Data Filter (KB 911895) error when I start up

and also the error:

Status Box

The feature you are trying to use is on a CD ROM or other removable device and is not available
Insert the status disk and click "OK"
I am not sure if these two are related but they both start about the same time. I just got finished removing the Security Suite with the help in the infections forum.

I am running Windows XP Pro SP3 and I am using a Microsoft wireless keyboard and mouse as interface devices connected through a USB port.

Download size: 1.6 MB

You may need to restart your computer for this update to take effect.

Update type: Optional

Microsoft Other hardware software update released in June, 2010

AFAIK, KB 911895 is a general purpose nickname for all driver updates that are pushed through windows updates.

I would suggest you download drivers from the manufacturer's website as and when you need them.

I have a spreadsheet with columns A-F. I would like a macro that would give the user an input box to input invoice numbers (column A) and if found, put the entire row on a new worksheet. User should be able to enter several invoices, then hit a finish button to move those particular invoices to one seperate worksheet. Any help would be appreciated.

A:Excel Marco with Input Box to filter data

Welcome to the board.

In a fresh sheet, enter 123 in A1, 456 in A2, 789 in A3.

Your starter code is:

Sub test()
Response = InputBox("Enter invoice number(s) to search for, separated by ''#''") & "#"
If Response = "" Then Exit Sub
x = Range("A" & Rows.Count).End(xlUp).Row
For Each Cell In Range("A1:A" & x)
If InStr(Response, Cell) <> 0 Then
MsgBox "Row " & Cell.Row & " should be copied over."
End If
Next Cell
End Sub

If you (run it and) input 123 you'll get a message "Row 1 should be copied over."; input 123#456, you'll get 2 messages for rows 1 & 2.

Now: please think about how numbers could be entered incorrectly such that it might not work; then we can figure out how to cater for user "creativity".

Hi all,

I use Linux and CUPS to provide free and stable networking printing shares for our community centre. Its easy to connection windows xp clients to the linux printer server, windows 7 is a pain, I have a work around, but would like to make it more streamlined.

I can get some older printers that do not have official windows 7 drivers working by using windows update during the driver selection phase of the printer set-up procedure. And selecting a slightly different printer from the list of available windows update drivers.

While this method works, there is a delay of between 5-10 minutes after clicking the windows update button before the list of drivers appears.

I would like to know if its possible to do any of the following 2 ideas:

1. manually access these driver files on Microsoft website somewhere, and download them for latter use.

2. Find where windows 7 saves the downloaded driver files and package them some how so they can be re-distributed.

As always your comments/suggestions are very welcome.

I don't think there is a way to do that I would recommend that you set up a domain and be the system administrator for all fo the Windows 7 pcs, so you can install all of the updates on all of the computers at the same time.

I did a windows update and it tried to update the Non User HID but it had an error with that. Hi, I have a Form created with a text box called "SoldTo_Text"; the user will input multiple SoldTo numbers; I then want the query that is pulling from the "SoldTo_Text" box to bring back data for those multiple SoldTo's. For Example, user inputs 3 soldTo's (1111,2222,3333) then the query takes those sold to's and returns the other values I have set in the query, we'll say they are percentages, so then it would look like (spaces indicate new columns):

1111 3% 5%
2222 6% 8%
3333 8% 3%

Currently, my query works great when they input 1 soldto, but as soon as I try to put in another soldto with it, it doesn't work.

Any help is appreciated. Thanks.

yeah. I have a new compaq laptop running vista home.

I am trying to setup and connect to my wireless network manually.

I go into network + internet, network and sharing center, and click "set up a connection or network"

in other versions of vista there is usually a "Manually connect to a wireless network" option.

No wonder why people say vista sucks.

How can I select Manually connect to a wireless network + enter my SSID so I can connect?

- From your machine! (Continuation of Thread Title)

Article here.

Are you using Windows Vista? Then you might as well know that the licensed operating system installed on your machine is harvesting a healthy volume of information for Microsoft. In this context, a program such as the Windows Genuine Advantage is the last of your concerns. In fact, in excess of 20 Windows Vista features and services are hard at work collecting and transmitting your personal data to the Redmond company.

Microsoft makes no secret about the fact that Windows Vista is gathering information. End users have little to say, and no real choice in the matter. The company does provide both a Windows Vista Privacy Statement and references within the End User License Agreement for the operating system. Combined, the resources paint the big picture over the extent of Microsoft's end user data harvest via Vista.

Article covers the following topics:

A:20+ Windows Vista Features and Services Harvest User Data for Microsoft

I don't see the big deal. 90% of it asks first -- reporting errors, reporting user experience data, reporting search strings, etc. And, yes, of course information about your hardware is sent when you download drivers. I don't see any indication that they're collecting anything that they shouldn't be -- it's not like they're getting a copy of your documents or photos. It's just data that is used to improve the user's experience. I think they're making something out of nothing, but that's just my two cents.

I'm trying to download updates through Windows Update, it shows that I have 139 important updates, and 40 optional ones. I selected them and clicked the install button but it got stuck at "Downloading updates (0 kb total, 0% complete)". I cancelled and retried choosing only 24 important updates and the same happened. I tried the check for updates option but it also keeps checking forever.
I also tried downloading updates from Microsoft Download Center but when I try to install them it hangs on "searching for updates on this computer".
I already ran the Microsoft Fix It tool, disabled my anti-virus and firewall, but nothing works.
I cannot install the SURT because it also keeps searching for updates.

I need to update so I can upgrade to Windows 10 - the setup also got stuck while checking for updates, so I was hoping that updating beforehand would do the trick.

Any suggestions on how to fix this problem are appreciated.

Hey I am working on creating a dashboard and i get a ton of raw data on a weekly basis. There are two things i would like to do:

1) Filter the data on the "data" tab by campaign, so only that campaign info shows on the dashboard. I would like to do this by having a drop down.

2) I would like to always have the most recent week as the end week on the dashboard. If possible i'd like the use to have the ability to filter what end week they would like to show on the dashboard by a drop down menu.

Thanks In Advance!

Please see the attachment

A:Raw Data Filter Help! - Dashboard

If I can give any advice based on your requirements then it would be as follows.

To do what you are doing would IMHO require using various tools of Excel and Macro's.

Unfortunately I am no longer up to scratch on Macro's, but there are a lot of good people here who can develop that side with you.

By the looks of it, you are hoping to take the work away from the user, except for them stating what they require and leaving Excel to do the rest. So my thoughts are to initially use the Data Filter Advanced Filter to arrive at the data required for the user. My comments are more to help anybody that wants to pick up and develop this through with macros

With advanced filter, you are required to provide 3 cell ranges for it to work and it must all be on the same page for it to work. By use of macros, the end result can be copied to you Dashboard page.

The 3 ranges are
List Range
Criteria Range
Copy to Range

I have added a third sheet to yours called sheet1
In this example
List range would be A1 to O21 i.e. however large your raw data is

Criteria Range AC3 to AD4 This can be altered to suit what your criteria is AC4 & AD4

Copy to Range AB7 to AL7

What is vitally important, is that the field headings used in the 3 areas must be identical and you cant have two fields name the same
So in setting up the Criteria and Copy To areas, you always copy the field headings from your raw data area. Never type them as you may make a mistake and then Excel can't match up... Read more

I am working with Office 2007
From the oracle table I wrote a query to get the Region and also the corresponding areas.
This is loaded as a master sheet in excel sheet 1
Then with the other query I got all the values that are to be displayed ( This is Child sheet)
Now in the child work sheet the user is allowed to change the Region. for this I used the data validation list to display the values as a list.
=Sheet2!A:A (Assuming sheet2 as the master work sheet and column a has the values of all the areas)
but Now I heed to filter the list in such a way that only the values corresponding to Region need to be displayed as areas.

Master Table

Region Area
SIN area1
SIN area2
SIN area3
NYC area4
NYC area5
IND area6
IND area7

Child Table

Position Region Area

NE SIN area1
NW NYC area4

As shown above the area needs to be based on the region in child table, in the same wise if the region is changed the list items need to also be listed in accordance with it.
Please Note :Macros are not allowed in the excel

The following policy might need to be adjusted to allow Windows to connect:

For those that can't be bothered to look at the link, it basically tells me to use the ipconfig/release and ipconfig/renew tools within the Command Prompt Window.

It then says to reset the TCP/IP Stack, and to flush the DNS.

As it says to do it in that order, I did it in that order.

Can anyone tell me the messages I should get within the Command Prompt Window upon successful execution of the above commands, or if I am doing them in the wrong order (if it really matters).

If no one can help, then this is my last resort and I will simply buy a new laptop, so any help would be appreciated.

I want to manually check for updates, make Windows download them if there is any, but wouldn't install at that moment, instead make Windows install them next time I shut it down.

In Windows XP, it was easy. You just selected the option to download. And when you attempt to shut down Windows, it asked if you want to shut down normally, or you want to install updates while shutting down.

However, in Windows 7, I couldn't find a way to do this same behavior. Can you please tell me how to, if there is any way to do it?

A:How to: Manually, download updates but not install

Use this address to find the updates you want
in the right hand corner theres a search box, type in your windows version
then find the specific files you want\need
then save them wherever you want

Handy for reinstalls without having to download everything again
Stop Windows Update in services first
then run your updates
then START WU again and check for updates

Hi guys,

I've just put my Dell Studio back to factory settings after having it for two years and deciding to give it a rebirth. I maintain my laptop very well but always like to do a reset every so often.

The problem I'm having now is that the damn thing wont update from Windows Update. It will identify that there are 76 important or critical downloads, but hangs at 0% downloading.

I went to the MS catalogue and tried to download manually, but even though I had the updates selected in my basket, again, it just hung on 0%.

I've ran Kasperskys TDS, the Malicious Tool Removal MS thingy-ma-jig, ran an sfc check where it did note there were corrupt files but it couldn't fix them. The Fix It link to the MS Update Not Working thing found no problems either.

So, I'm scratching my head and going to do a restart and see what's going on.

Any help greatly appreciated as this is doing my nut in.

Interestingly, I've just reset and it's telling me the system had to be restarted to finish installing updates, but when you click on it for more info, there's no updates listed. Bloody liar.

Hello - I have an excel workbook (workbook 1) consisting of 4 sheets, each with approximately 400,000 rows of data. I have another workbook (workbook 2) with one sheet of 3500 rows containing the unique information in one column which I'd like to match against.

Column A in all worksheets contains unique numbers from a ticket management system. Workbook 2's column A contains my control sample which I would like to use to search the 4 sheets in workbook 1 for the corresponding matching numbers. I'd then like to pull out the entire rows of matched data from workbook 1. I'm not picky about which workbook or sheet the collected data gets dumped to.

I have tried setting this up via an advanced filter, but for some reason it returns every single row in the list range. I only want the rows that match the criteria range. In other words my output should be 3456 rows of data pulled from the list range that matches the criteria range. Also, when I try this operation with the 'return unique records only' box checked it hangs Excel everytime.

Hoping someone can help. Thanks in advance!

I guess it's part of 3 Vista "Services" which mostly have to do with indexing. Is this so that Vista can so quickly find files? Is that all it's for? If so, I should be able to permanently block it without any problems, right?

I really don't need Vista to be able to find everything within 2 seconds. I don't look for things that often and when I do I have a pretty good filing system and can get to them on my own pretty quickly.

People are reporting that these 3 services in the article linked above seem to take up a lot of processor power, too.

So has anyone blocked this? What is the best way to do it, and what is the outcome? Will Vista still be able to find things, only a bit slower, or what?

Please advise. Thank you in advance.

A:Microsoft Search Filter - block or allow?

Hello Pdsnickles,

I would not recommend to block it since it is probably responsible for other items than just the index. Instead, you can just disable the Windows Search service to disable the index and have Vista use only non-index searched.

Index - Enable or Disable

Hope this helps,

Can anyone help me? A microsoft phishing filter pops up (but I just exit it), but after that, there is no sound on the computer. Also occasionally IE popups show up. Please help. Thank you!

Edit: I ran malwarebytes and it removed some viruses, but it didn't stop this problem. I have tried system restore and it still has this problem. I actually tried to download other antivirus programs, but that made the problem even worse...my computer would freeze a minute after starting windows. I actually was able to do a system restore, but the microsoft phishing filter pop up and no sound still exists.
I am using Windows XP Home SP3 I believe. This virus doesn't allow me to go into safe mode either. Any help is appreciated.

I'm getting more and more spam on Outlook after years of it being minimal and I can't find any filter. Anyone out there any suggestions?

Get the latest office updates first. Then there are many filtering softwares available out there. But they are not free. I would recommend mailwasher.

I need your help to tackle a corrupt Council and the Microsoft Spam filter is the key to this.
Long story short. My Email address was blocked to Councillors, complaints departments and every department at a UK Council. This happened after I started contacting departments to object to a council application. I only found out because an employee told me they had stopped receiving Emails from that address. I also never received any acknowledgments from the Council that my Email address had been blocked.
Anyway I made a complaint and the council stated that the Microsoft Spam filter had blocked my email address and put my emails into quarantine and then deleted them 14 days later because I used prohibited words. So I provided them with all my Emails from that address so they could find the prohibited words.
Months pass by and now I'm informed that the Council has contacted Microsoft to find out how my Email Address became blocked.
The reality is that I know it was blocked by Council staff because I was disrupting a council planning application. I know they haven't found any prohibited words and to make matters worse they almost certainly blocked me when no Email was sent.
Please help me by providing me with information about the Microsoft spam filter and how plausible or in-plausible their excuse is? I need to send a well written technical insight into the Microsoft spam filter to the borough solicitor and then my local MP.
Your help can open a can worms involving serious corrupti... Read more

A program I often recommend to friends and family, FileSearchEX, was suddenly today showing up as unsafe in IE9's SmartScreen filter. Could it be because they released an update yesterday? How does something get marked as unsafe in IE9? I've downloaded the software and virus scanned it ... it works and checks out fine. Naturally, I'm embarrassed as people are telling me about the link, and it is only the actual link to the executable.

A:SmartScreen Filter flagging a download link as unsafe

Someone reported that site for some reason or another. I've been a member of forum communities before where a banned user has done this to try and give the site problems.
The best thing you can do is inform the people that own the site of the problem, as they may not be aware.

So, Secunia has just told me that the versions of Microsoft Outlook 2002, Word 2002, and Excel 2002 I have on my computer (Windows XP Home SP3) are unsecure and need to be updated. Secunia provides direct download links to Microsoft for these updates, but there are some hassles (I know! Hassles? With Microsoft?!).First, it opens IE -- it apparently won't work with Firefox. Second, all the update links lead to a page that signs me up for a Microsoft Update service that gives Microsoft even greater access to my PC.Unless it's absolutely necessary, I just have no desire to provide more access to my computer to a bunch of strangers.Does anyone know if there's a way to update these programs without signing up for a service? Even today, not all computers are hooked up to the internet -- I figure there must be a way to just get the updated files. Thanks!Apologies if this is in the wrong forum.

A:Update Microsoft (Windows XP) programs manually?

Try this link: http://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enThat's the service pack... so it updates the whole shi-bang. If this wasn't what you were talking about, just reply and I'll keep looking. Hope that helped!
