P52s how to disable internal battery when it won't boot?

Q: P52s how to disable internal battery when it won't boot?

The first time I replaced the SSD I was able to disable the internal battery in the BIOS config settings as per manual instructions. However now my laptop just boots to a blank black screen, and I cannot get to config settings. How do I disable the internal battery? Can I just go ahead and try to replace the SSD without doing so? Should I let it sit there on the black screen and drain power? (but the fan is really loud while it does that)

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Dear Readers, I tried to replace the orginial RAM module on my Thinkpad 480s RAM socket with a Samsung 32 GB module. According to some sources, this module should in principle work, so I didn't expect any problems. I followed the instructions to disable the internal battery before. However, after exchanging the module the computer no longer boots and I'm unable to see the logo screen. Thus I'm also unable to disable the internal battery in the BIOS again. How can I disable the internal BIOS now? I want to remove the module again and see if everything is still fine with the original module. Thanks a lot for any help. ByeDim4

Hi All, I just got my T440s a couple of weeks ago. I stupidly ordered it with only 4GB of RAM, thinking that I couple upgrade it myself if neccessary (and it would be much cheaper that way). Well it seems 4GB definately isn't enough for my needs, so I ordered another 4GB stick. I installed it, plugged the machine in and powered it up. And was met with the tone for a memory error. Probably the module isn't seated correctly, but I suppose it could be faulty. Anyway, you'll notice I said that I plugged it in before powering up. That means that the internal battery has been reactivated. I can confirm this because it will start (and give me the error) without being plugged in and without the external battery connected. So my problem is, how do I disable the internal battery again to remove or reseat the problem DIMM, since I can't get to the UEFI/BIOS configureation to disable it. Please help.

I have a problem with my battery of my P52s.my P52s will loss capacity continuous although my laptop is plugged with power adapter, especially under high loaded status of CPU.for example, when my battery is charging up to 100%, and it still plug in USB-C power adapter, when I use the P52s to Photoshop (may use P500 graphic card occasionally) images, the battery will loss about 15% capacity in one day.If I switch the power mode of P52s into ?Flight Power mode?, the reduction is about 8% per day. I google the similar problem in internet. I found someone said it may be the usb port using the battery although the laptop plugged the external power adapter, but my use port just plug in the 2.4G wireless mouse. I think it will not loss this huge power. Anyone fixed this problem?and my BIOS version is 1.05, and there is new version 1.12.I dont decide to update BIOS, with my experience of digital products, the more updates the more problems, especially slow down the machine. Thanks

Hoping this problem will be noticed by more people, the original post on this issue came from:https://forums.lenovo.com/t5/Linux-Discussion/T470-Linux-Power-Bridge-wrong-discharge-order/td-p/365...https://www.reddit.com/r/thinkpad/comments/63odjr/t470_battery_order_question_internal_discharges/ Brief description: same problem with OS including Win 10, Ubuntu 16.04, Gentoo etc. The internal battery always gets discharged first regardless its remaining power, which is generally harmless but seems not so good for the internal battery life. With my own T470 machine, updated with the latest 1.29 BIOS, this problem remains. According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

Hi everyone, Title says it all, I know this topic of discharging internal battery first has been brought up a lot, and that the reason behind it is this: The T470s are designed to drain the battery with least wear first so as to degrade both batteries equally and prolong the laptop's overall battery life. However, as I'm using a new 61++ battery, clearly somethig is going wrong somewhere as the year old internal battery cannot be in better condition than the brand new external.https://gyazo.com/6c12f3f40514599d04d852a8589189ab Any ideas? Thanks!

After a round of Windows updates, I went to turn on my laptop and recieved the "Primary internal battery (601)" error.  After this screen, however, Windows would not load.  I have tried taking the battery out and 'draining the charge',  and starting up the computer plugged directly to AC with no battery.  Windows still does not load.  The start-up test in the diagnostics menu said the battery needed calibration, however when I go to run the battery test, it gets to "waiting for battery to charge" and exits out of the test without giving me any results at all.  Currently when turning on the computer I no longer get the "primary internal battery" error, it just goes directly to a black screen with blinking cursor.  Any help is appreciated, I'm completely at a loss here!

Tonight I replaced the internal battery in my X240 for the second time.  The first battery, purchased on eBay, worked well for about 10 months; after that, the machine (i5/Win10) started to report that the battery was not found, and would die when the external was exhausted. So, I figured, might as well try again. I just finished the replacement (always remember to shut off the internal battery through the BIOS before doing this!) and all seems well.  The internal battery is charging and, in spite of its official manufacture date sometime in 2013, it's on its first cycle. The battery I removed--the one that had worked for 10 months?  On closer inspection it had a new label pasted on over an old label (see photo).   The new label did not have the Lenovo name on it; the old label did.  This leads me to suspect that the battery was a "reconditioned" (or possibly rebuilt) battery originally manufactured by Lenovo, but just with a new label pasted on. Interestingly, the capacity on the old label reads "min. 1930 mAh," while the new label reads "1910 mAh."  Different cells, or just random errors in labeling? The battery I just purchased (yes, off eBay, I'm cheap) and installed was labeled as Lenovo and carried a correct date of manufacture (that is, the printed date lines up with the date that Vantage reports from the electronics). Conclusions?  I don't really know.  I'll have to see if the new internal solv... Hello,I have a T580 P52s 20LB with a 500GB HDD, a ThinkPad T580 P52s M.2 SSD tray and a 500GB M.2 Samsung EVO 970 Pro.  I also have an M.2 to USB-C adapter.  Samsung Magician will not detect the SSD using the adapter so I used a work-around to clone my HDD (all partitions) to my SSD.  Afterward, I installed the SSD using the M.2 SSD tray but I got the boot device not found error.  My tech tried and got the same results. A third tech tried and got the same results.  Even when I had the third tech wipe the M.2, install it and try to do a fresh Window 10 install, it did not work.  I know the drive is fine because it works in other machinces.  I got my SSD tray directly from Lenovo and confirmed before purchasing and after receiving it that it is the correct part. I know the machine is capable of supporting SATA or M.2 NVMe for drive 1 but I can't seem to get this to work.  I picked up a SATA EVO 860 in case help from this forum isn't able to solve the problem.

Hello. The newest Realtek driver for the Inspiron 3521 with Windows 7 is the 6.0.1.6788 version. That one is known to be buggy regarding the audio jack. My advice is to "roll back" to the previous driver -- the 6.0.1.6690 version.
1. Open the Device Manager (find it in the Control Panel, or type devmgmt.msc into the search box).2. Expand the "Sound, video & game controllers"3. Right click on "Realtek High Definition Audio" to open the context menu.4. Click Properties.5. Click the Driver tab at the top.6. Click Rollback Driver.

Just recently I disabled my internal mic in favor of an external mic. I tried to disable it the normal way but every time I kept disabling it, it would re-enable. I went to the administrator section to disable the internal mic that way and it worked, but it worked a little too well. Now when I go into my sound menu, it says no audio devices are installed. I can't simply right click and show disabled devices to re-enable it. I know this trick and it's not helping me. No devices are showing up either way. Now that I've done this, my external mic is not even working. Usually I can figure these types of things out on my own but this one is a whole different story. Please help!

Turns out I actually got it working. By typing "internal" in the start menu search box, there is an option to find and fix problems. Luckily, it recognized shutting off your internal mic as a problem and it fixed it.

If it is in Programs and features, I would imagine someone has installed the software for it?
But before you uninstall, disable the facility in the device manager. I am 100% certain it will cause no problems. If it goes wrong, it is easy to re-enable, If there are no apparent problems, then I would suggest you uninstall the software.

Whenever this happens, it makes this ear-shattering, shrieking, continuous "BEEEEEP" noise (internally, not from the speakers) for about 15-30 minutes. This cycles on and off about once an hour. Is there ANY way I can disable this, other than the obvious answer of stopping the overheating problem? I'm broke at the moment so any other suggestions would be greatly appreciated.

My computer is new. I replaced my older HP one last week. It had a simple switch to disable the internal mouse!

I read all the suggestions for this question from an earlier time it was asked. I tried, but I still can not find a way to disable my gateway computer's internal mouse. I went to control panel, hardware, mouse, and found 2 mouses there (not mice!). One is the Logitech one external one connected to my osb drive. The other is the one I tried to disable. I found the driver page, but the disable icon is not working. It is not lit up and nothing happens with a right or left click on it. The screen says that this mouse is working properly. I can not disable it.... Where is the disable key?

I notes that someone installed Synaptics, so I did that, and my computer has speeded way up! (Yay), but there is no change in the place to disable the internal mouse.

A:Can't Disable Gateway Internal Mouse (Despite Trying All on this Site!)

The Synaptics shoudl have added it's own Control Panel, or added to the Mouse properties in the Control Panel and created an icon in the System Tray.

The Gateway site lists both the Synaptics and Elantech drivers for the laptop, which touchpad does the laptop say you have?

Gateway site: http://support.gateway.com/us/en/product/default.aspx?tab=1&modelId=3503

Also according to the manual which is also at the link above you should be able to press FN +F6 to disable the Touchpad, but you must have the correct touchpad drivers installed and the LaunchManager installed for that to work.

My battery was dying. I tried calibration, letting the lenovo run just on the battery. It looks like it went down to 0%, then shut off. But it wouldn't charge. It was probably never charging in the first place, always running off the power of the AC.  But I could still boot to AC. So I bought a new battery. It said to calibrate. So I tried that. The battery ran down to maybe 20%, then shut off. But the same result. Laptop will neither boot nor charge the batttery. Again, it will boot just fine with the battery out.  So, what's to be done? Also, I tried to get into the BIOS via F2 and F12, but that doesn't work either.  - Dan

Hi, Just to clarify, the 601 error relates to your notebooks main battery ( not the rtc cell on the system board ). If you're happy with running the machine on mains power full time, there's no issue with that and you can simply remove the battery. If you do want to replace the battery at some time, you can order a new one through HP Parts Store or ( and often less expensive ), just google the full Model No. of your dv7 series notebook including the term battery. Regards, DP-K

It will be somewhere on the motherboard. It's a flat round battery like those in a watch only larger. On some older PCs, the battery is soldered to the motherboard so you may need to take it to a shop to have it replaced if that's the case.

In Windows 7 I can do that by adding this in the registry :
[HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\services\msahci\Controller0\Channel0]
"TreatAsInternalPort"=dword:00000001
But in Windows 8 this can't work. apparently the MSAHCI driver has been replaced by StorAHCI driver in Windows 8. After some research, I found out that you can set some parameters for StorAHCI driver here:
HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\storahci\Parameters\Device
Apparently it has a TreatAsInternalPort parameter too, and the IgnoreHotPlug parameter is also interesting.

So my question is, how can I treat my hard drive as internal drive ??

A:How to disable ejecting internal SATA drive ? or How to use TreatAsInternalPort for StorAHCI ??

Okay, so I've been having a few programs with my computer...this including slowness, poor wifi connections, and odd performance of wacom tablets.

The problems with a tablet are described in more detail here--> http://www.sevenforums.com/drivers/1...ml#post1658350

Recently, before I signed into windows, a message on a black screen popped up stating something about my internal battery needing to be replaced. I'm on an HP pavilion laptop // HP pavilion entertainment PC.

Could the problems I mentioned above be related to the battery? I desperately need to be able to use my tablets for my major in college, and are majorly concerned with how they've been acting poorly with my laptop...could just replacing the battery work?

Also, would the 'internal battery' still be the battery that is capable of being removed from the laptop? Or does a laptop of two batteries?

A:"Internal battery" notices..what problems could a low battery cause?

This is the CMOS battery it is talking about. It should be replaced asap. But this is not a do it yourself job in a laptop. Better have some expert deal with it.

Hi, Please use the following check (same for Windows 8.1) first:        http://support.hp.com/us-en/document/c03325217 If failed you have to replace the battery. Is it still under warranty ? If yes, please contact HP for a replacement. Regards.
