Dear Friends, Hope all is well. I wrote "directly to HP Tech/Support and due to the warranty it defaults to here.A couple of matters. One I need a replacement Key and hinges for the *insert- Scroll key*The other issue(s) are that none of the finger sensitive swipe controls work to control speaker volumes or <<RW - Play >|| -FF >> and not last and not least the WiFi indicator does not glow. I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Windows 10 updates on its own by default. Microsoft gave a choice to either auto update or refuse all updates, unlike in previous Microsoft operating systems. Enter the Control Panel and  click on the Synaptics section and renable the option there.

Hi,
Go to Settings, Devices, select Mouse&Touchpad, scroll down to Additional Mouse Options, go to Elan tab, highlight the Elan smartpad and click Options, try switching to reverse scroll and other options to get the right settings which could work for you, I have attached my settings for comparing but you may have to try different options.

So...out of the box computer. During the set up the two finger scroll was working, however, once all was finished it stopped (why?). Tried going onto the mouse and touchpad settings, nothing available. Then tried going onto the Additional Mouse Options. I get warned that "Control Panel Extension is Incompatible with Driver Version" (why?). After clicking only option "OK" it opens. After a second of use it then tells me " Windows Shell Common DII has stopped working" (why?). Solutions will be gratefully recieved.

Is it possible to emulate that "sliding" feature where you can switch to different windows so easily? I can't believe it's not a built in feature it would be so much easier to navigate through windows than having to point and click on them!

A:Is it possible to get that Mac three finger swipe feature?

The closest you can get in standard windows shell would be probably using Synaptics driver for touchpad and setting 3 finger gesture to Win+Tab (or two times it to switch between windows) or Ctrl+Tab (to switch between tabs).

Of course, there would be no "sliding" animation itself, only standard Win+tab animation.

Has anybody been able to change settings for 3 finger swipe in Windows 10?Switching apps using 3 finger gestures is absolutely useless, and I would like to be able to use the same gestures to go back and forth.  When I installed Synaptics driver for other products, version 18.x and for Windows 8.1, I would get the back and forth option back. The only problem is that the trackpad buttons do not work. Everything else worked fine except for that. I tried a number of 18.x versions, and all of them had the same issue. Synaptics driver for P70 Windows 8.1, ver. 19.x, doesn't have back and forth option. This has become vastly annoying, especially when I'm browsing the web using the touchpad as going back would require a rather lengthy travel of my hand. I use Chrome mainly and I have to press two physical buttons, Alt and an arrow key, to go back and forth.  Please, any input will be greatly appreciated.

I'm using an HP Spectre x360, with Windows 8.1 (factory installed).  I have the most up-to-date Synaptics touchpad drivers, as obtained from the HP website under my computer model number. The problem is when trying to use the Synaptics 3-finger swipe in Internet Explorer 11.  It does not work reliably.  Sometimes I'll have to swipe multiple times before the swipe will register and the browser will navigate backward or forward accordingly.  It seems as if there's some sort of focus problem, like an initial swipe or two creates the proper focus, and then a final swipe finally causes the appropriate navigation.  The behavior will change depending on the website.  For very simple sites, sometimes a single swipe will suffice, but with more complex sites, the problems tends to surface. Can this be fixed with the Synaptics drivers, with a registry edit, or with some other hack?

Hi guys,

As stated in the title, the 2-finger scroll function doesn't work (anymore), ONLY in the windows file explorer. It works just fine in IE, Firefox, Adobe, Office, what have you - anywhere but the file explorer.
I just noticed this recently, which must mean it is relatively new, but I can't pinpoint when it started. I think it used to happen sometimes, but probably was fixed with restarting the laptop or the touchpad program... but I was mostly using a mouse, not the pad, so I didn't pay attention much.

I have searched for solutions, but I haven't been able to find any other thread dealing with this exact problem. My apologies if it has been treated already elsewhere.

So, your suggestions are welcome.

A:Two-finger scroll not working, ONLY in explorer.exe (Win explorer)

Same problem here. Scrolling was normal everywhere except inside of Windows Explorer windows. Found a bunch of worthless info about changing cursor theme, etc, etc, etc....... I realized that I had installed a wired mouse recently, and it must have taken over some of the scrolling functions.

The solution - Go to Add/Remove Programs and uninstall your old Elan (or maybe Synaptics) driver. RESTART. Go to your touchpad vendors site, or your laptop vendors site, and get the newest copy of the drivers. Reinstall. RESTART. Everything should be back to normal.

I found that you had to do the restarts in between the uninstall and reinstall, or it will not work. I am using an Elan touchpad on an Asus laptop, but I assume that this fix should work with other setups.

I recently got the latest HP Spectre x360 and I'm having a slight problem with the touchpad. When I two finger scroll, there is a slight delay between when I begin my scroll and when the touchpad realizes I mean to scroll, not point. I.e. I drag two fingers to scroll, the cursor moves slightly as if I were only wanting to move the cursor, then the touchpad detects that I want to scroll and begins scrolling. If my fingers are exactly parallel on the horizontal axis, this problem is less pronounced; it often occurs when I wish to two finger scroll and my fingers are slightly juxtapositioned. Is this a sensitivity issue or a driver issue? Thanks for any help you can provide!

Hi. I bought a brand new Thinkpad T470s with Win10pro preinstalled. I have installed all latest win10 updates and lenovo updates and also BIOS is updated. I have the following problems that are most likely caused by Touchpad and the fact that it is a Microsoft Precision Touchpad. - I had to set "Choose how many lines to scroll" to value 8 in Settings/Mouse to get adequate scrolling speed in Google Chrome and most of other apps that I use - 2-finger scrolling freezes and delays now and then in SimpleNote- there is no way to adjust 2-finger scrolling speed in File Explorer and MS Edge Explorer. "Choose how many lines to scroll each time" setting in "Settings" and "Control Panel/Mouse" has no effect on touchpad 2-finger scrolling speed. I dont really use Edge as I prefer Chrome but this slow scrolling in File Explorer is unacceptable. Even my old Thinkpad X201 is better.- 2-finger scrolling in Device Manager is too jumpy and slow to use comfortably- 2-finger scrolling in MS Word 2010 was also jumpy couple of times, but most of the time it works OK- I use Gmail in a separate window which I created from Chrome with "Add to desktop" option and "Open as window" checked. When Gmail is used from this separate window, 2-finger scrolling is jumpy and delayed, also very unacceptable.  I suspect that these problems must be somehow caused by that Touchpad is Microsoft Precision Touchpad. So I reinstalled my job-pc, Latitude E7250 from W10 v1511 to W10 1607. (Win10 x64 Enterprise)
Everything works fine except 2-finger-scroll, witch worked in 1511.
It often needs 2-3 tries before it works, and if I lift the fingers and try to scroll again it takes several more tries before it works.
There is only one driver for the touchpad, it is the same I had before the reinstall.
What to do about this?

I don't know if I can help much but 1607 has been out for quite a while and another new build may be coming in the next few months.  Hopefully, your system has received all the updates.  The next time you reinstall, you are aware you can download the media from Microsoft and possibly Dell and have a later version to install.....
As far as I know, there is no touchpad driver from Dell.  I did a clean Win 10 1607 install on a new drive and the touchpad seemed to behave the same as it did with the OEM install.
There are settings for the Touchpad in Settings-Devices- Mouse & Touchpad.  You might check to see if any of those options help.  I do not know if you have a "Precision" touchpad or not.
On my system, I find it is best to place the fingers on the pad prior to initiating movement.  If I try to swipe it seems to delay the gesture.
I also have to be very careful not to allow the system to read a Tap movement since it seems just breathing on the touchpad can illicit a reaction.  ;)

I disabled two finger scroll inversion in Synaptics Options, the inversion is not present in windows explorer and third party programs. But in windows settings app, windows start menu the scrolling is still inverted. I tried restarting, various registry edits I found on the internet, but I can't find a solution. Please help.

I just loaded the new windows 10 operating system on my Pro Book 6440b and I am having a problem with the Synaptics Touchpad driver. Most of the functions work properly with the touch pad but there is one issue that I cannot resolve with the Window 7 driver for the touchpad. The finger scroll function will not work in any of the newly formatted Windows 10 OS windows. I wonder if their has been a patch made for this driver problem or if it is an ongoing issue. I know the mouse pad works fine all functions since I reloaded all of the drivers after a complete system restore in the windows 7 OS.?????
