Q: My Aspire VN7-792G laptop is less than two weeks o...

My laptop is shutting off randomly, especially when being moved, even slightly. If I catch it in time and lift on the right side, it will stay on even though it started going dim. It does it on battery or on the charger. Very annoying and I have already loaded programs which I likely can't transfer to another computer. Very disappointed in this product. any solutions?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hello. My Aspire VN7-792G got some beer spilled on it's keyboard by someone while I was not at home and now no longer turns on.The Power Off USB Charge Port still charges my phone when I connect a USB cable to it.The Light that confirms it recieves power from the AC (both blue and amber lights). My thoughts are that the beer messed up the stuff under the power button (which is integrated in the keyboard apprently) and no longer works. Is there anything I can do to turn it on in a different way?Any thoughts on this?

How can i replace the hdd for a ssd in my Aspire VN7-792G?

A:replace hdd for ssd in aspire VN7-792G

Hi,You need to familiarise with disassembly procedure by watching videos, you need to decide which type of SSD you actually want to install, you have the option of replacing the current HDD with 2.5" normal SSD or M.2 SATA SSD.Now, you need to back up your current drive image to another external hard drive, and create a recovery disk using a program like Macrium reflect or similar program. Then you need to install the SSD, go to BIOS and make the dvd/USB as the first boot, connect the external hard drive, insert the DVD/USB recovery disk, reboot. Now, you can recover the image you backed up earlier to the new SSD.If you need more clarification, please post your question.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Hhqm2yg_aiI&t=466shttp://www.macrium.com/help/v5/How_to/Rescue/Create_a_Standard_Windows_PE_Rescue_Environment.htmhttp://kb.macrium.com/KnowledgebaseArticle50074.aspx

Okay, I couldn't find anyone with this problem, so I'm creating a new post. One month ago I've bought VN7-792G and I'm satisfied with it. But there is one strange problem - during certain events (receiving notification via Facebook/Steam, when launching a sound file or jumping through a YouTube video) I can hear a silent "tick" sound from lower left corner of my laptop. I've tried updating BIOS and sound drivers, but this problem persists.

A:Acer Aspire VN7-792G HDD Type

A lot of people use HWinfo to help them determine what brand of HDD they have installed. https://www.hwinfo.com/download.php If you're asking the question as a pre-purchase question......here's the entire list of primary and secondary drives that Acer might use in that model.  Maybe someone else can tell you which one is installed on the specific serial number you're inquiring about.

Hello everyone , yesterday i've received my new laptop acer vn7-792g , it's all great , comfortable , everything seems fine except 2 things. Battery (any ideas if its possible to remove it , because immo i'll screw the battery if its IN the laptop permanently especially when im gaming) and the second problem is Heating (i dont really know if its a problem) so while im not playing anything these are my temperatures --> https://postimg.org/image/uwuxodqbr and while gaming this is what is happening --> https://postimg.org/image/d3xfgtipt/ (once measured about 85 C GPU!!) Is that normal?? Please any helpful ideas..

Hi, It's perfectly normal. It's a notebook with small heatsink and not a PC with a huge fan and heatsink. The temperatures are normal, and it can go even higher which can cause your CPU and GPU to throttle. In case of the 792G since it is a 17 inch one, you probably will not have problems with throttling because it can have bigger airflow than a smaller 15 inch one. And regarding the battery. Is not removable, or you can remove it just if you take apart the notebook. But generaly is not a removable battery.

No hardware changes to notebook or external monitor since last known good. I've tested my HDMI cables and HDMI monitor using my desktop and tablet devices which all work fine to display output via HDMI on the same equipment. Windows 7 Home Premium 64bit came installed with the laptop. Bought the laptop around 2009. Any help would be very helpful.

A:Had several laptop crashes in the last couple of weeks

Problematic Software:
Start Menu\Programs\ParetoLogic\RegCure Pro OrinCordus\rcordy:Start Menu\Programs\ParetoLogic\RegCure Pro OrinCordus\rcordy
Many of us on the forums actually do not recommend automated optimization tools for Windows 7. Windows 7 does a much better job of handling its own optimization than its predecessors did. We especially do not recommend registry cleaning as an "optimization" step because automated registry cleaning causes more harm to the registry than it actually repairs.

In the future, if you need help optimizing Windows 7, please post a thread in Performance & Maintenance - Windows 7 Forums or follow the tutorial enclosed in that forum to Optimize Windows 7.
McAfee was in the stack in one of the crashes. I suspect that it may be corrupted. Uninstall and re-install McAfee: How to uninstall or reinstall supported McAfee products using the McAfee Consumer Products Removal tool (MCPR.exe)
If that does not resolve the problem: Your crashes primarily indicate hard disk problems. This could mean hard disk corruption, bad sectors, a failing hard disk, Windows files or registry corruption, viruses, or memory problems. If you are overclocking any hardware, please stop.

hi all (long time no see )

I've been given a brand new sony company laptop, but about 3 days ago it blue screened when I tried to boot it up. It gets to the "Welcome..." but bluescreens before you get to enter user details.

-Running Windows Vista SP1, and can only boot in safe mode.

-Something to note is that it gets updates through a VPN, and with tech guys messing around at the office if it goes down while updating it could be an issue.

-I've tried a system restore but to no avail.

-In safe mode, using problems + solutions, I've got the following information:

This is the first time I like to use the sevenforums.com. After 5 crashes, each time indicated by IRQL_NOT_LESS_OE EQUAL and the the STOP-information: 0x0000000A, I asked HP to solve this problem.
The crashes arrive within different situations. The laptop just standby, making an email, using IE or chrom te finf information on internet. They first thought I was using windows XP but I do use Windows 7 premium 64k. I have runned different testprogramms given by HP but never I got an error message. HP said it was no hardware problem so the solution should or could be to restore windows. Because I need to restore all my other software I haven't done so till now.
I have read the BSOD threads and thought it is wise to gather the SF data and send that as attachment to this forum.
Maybe I can get some help to solve the crash problem.
I use a HPPavilionG7-2052sd.
Thanks already for any help.

I'm looking for a *small* notebook that has gaming capability so that I can also take it, (outside of college) for example, to my relatives or friends houses.

so my girlfriends laptop yesterday had a windows update. after it reboted, it would come to the windows boot manager screen saying 0xc00000e9, a unexpected i/o error. apperantly she dropped it a few weeks ago. but i wasnt sure that had anything to do with it. so i went and checked and removed and rehooked up all the drives and hdd. and i noticed one of the ram chips wasnt locked in anymore. so i relocked that too. and to no avail. i cant get into safe mode, or anything else. i made a recovery disk with my laptop, running 7 ultimate 64 bit. i get it to load up to the point where it says chose your country ( for the keyboard i guess) and it just sits there with a mouse pointer on the screen and nothing else. for about 20 mins i let it sit and nothing happened. i rean a seagate hdd diag tool. and that wouldnt run past 2% without errors. so i am not sure at all what to do. or what real damage is done to the HDD, and since i cant get into checkdisk i cant find out either.
anyone else have any ideas on what i can do

My OS is Windows 7 Home Basic x64 OEM. Havent installed anything new for now except some games. Also I cant find the ''save as'' option under perfmon so couldnt uplaod performance report.

dell XPS M1710 with MS windows XP media center edition 2005 with missing HD (120Gb SATA) so i replaced it with a new one 500Gb SATA Toshiba HD. I was using the Dell official web site trying to get answers about compatibility and reinstalling the OS as Dell informed me that I could only install the previous OS that was MS windows XP media center edition (which were not part of the original package )if you need to reinstall XP windows it was added to the HD so you didn't need installation disks. Bad idea Dell ....HD failure happens all to often . And now Microsoft dose not support XP anymore ,the questions about could I install windows 7 on my XPS new hard drive were answered with you must first install windows XP media center edition and all proper drivers as the XPS M1710 can only run on that OS !!!! plus only USA and Canada can be sent the XP disks outside of there Dell was not interested and are no longer supporting the XPS M1710 ....Blah Blah. SO why was I told all this BS ?Has anyone had similar situation to me? Anyway just to clarify ,I can install windows 7 on a Dell XPS M1710 ? I have the windows OEM system builders pack ... Win Home Prem 7 SP1 64.bit 3pk DSP 3 OEI DVD that as been installed on other computers in this house , would that be a problem ? Last question is on the outside of the packaging it reads ..... that the software license is for a desktop OS or application software ,it also must be preinstalled on the hard drive of the full ... Hi , I have hp laptop . Model : NZ284EA. I have bought it two weeks ago. It was performing pretty nice till yesterday. I did nothing unusual. But when I tried to open it yesterday , it took like 25-30 mins to start. It still does so , restarting takes like 40 mins or even more. When the computer starts it lags alot. For example when I click "My computer" It clicks like 2 minutes after I actually click. What could be the problem?

I would be very appreciated if you could answer me

A:HP NZ284EA 2 weeks old laptop. Incredibly slow. Takes 30 mins to start-on

Go to Control Panel (classic view)>Admin tools>Computer management>Relaibility and performance monitor.

Once Performance Monitor opens, see if you get a popup message that tells you of serious perfomance issue, if not go to Reliablity Monitor on the left side, click it, in the top pane look for red x's and yellow triangles for possible problems, you can click on them, then read in the lower pane.

Hi,Since the beginning I own this laptop it overheats. As soon as I play a game the CPU temperature will go up and fluctuate around 80-100 degrees celcius. I had to manually turn down the maximum CPU speed to about 60% in energy saving settings to keep it under 70C. This of course has quite some impact on the speed of the laptop. I cannot do the things advertised on the product page without hurting the laptop (assuming 100C is dangerous for a processor). What can I do?

I bought the machine in June and it was silent, but now we're hearing a very low volume hum/buzz (kind of like a mosquito passng by your ear, except 3 octaves lower) more and more frequently. It emanates from the right side - approximately under the Enter Key vicinity and occurs intermittently for maybe 2 or 4 seconds as the machine is actively processing data or updating webpages. It's not correlated with the fan turning on/off. Any ideas?

Hello. I have a lot of issues with my Acer VN7-792G for a long time.First time I received the laptop, I had several issues with the Nvidia drivers while playing games, the GPU would overheat and freeze the laptop completely, along with a very unpleasant noise. It does that even on Very Low settings. I could finally find the answer to my issue when someone on Nvidia's forum told me to never update Nvidia drivers on laptops. (I was always updating to the latest driver through GeForce Experience)I followed his advice and got back to the driver provided by the manufacturer's website (which is 359.xx), since then no issue occured, I could play games on High/Ultra 120fps without freezing/crashing. I reinstalled Windows recently through the ISO provided by Microsoft's website. I disabled Windows Update to update the drivers, and I installed all the drivers provided by Acer's website for my computer, using my serial number. But after few minutes of playing, I still experience freeze/crash, and by that I mean the laptop completely freezes and the only thing I can do is to force shut down, holding power button for few seconds. The laptop is very hot at this point. Highest temp I could record for the GPU was around 70-80°c before it freeze/crash.So I'm starting to think that the problem isn't from the Nvidia driver anymore, since the moment I reinstalled Windows 10 (64bits). Also, apart from the GPU really overheating, now the HDD seems to heat a lot too. I performe... Read more

A:Acer VN7-792G CRASH - Tried everything

Hi and wellcome, First update BIOS, if you don't have the latest updates. It is highly recommended since as you can see some update the VBIOS, which has a link with the video. Also it updates the management engine which monitors various parameters (eg temperature) on the notebook. Second be sure you have installed the intel management engine drivers from the acer drivers download page. XTU will not break the warranty, but be careful because it can cause system instability if you undevolt too much. Since you have a 792G, which is bigger than any 59XG notebooks I don't think you should have any issues with thermal throttling. So I would not set the CPU to 99%. It would limit the system performance.

Windows 10 has been updated as well as the BIOS and chipset but it will not see the 960 EVO ssdd.I have a Windows 10 install on an 850 EVO SSD and the drive still doesn't show up.  I haven't upgraded my personal computer in sometime but this BIOS is extremely limited, basically has options for boot order and Legacy/UEFI only.  Is there anyway to unlock this w/o having to mod it? There's lots of cross talk on the forums as to whether it's a SATA or NVME capable M.2 slot on this laptop.  I've spent a good deal of time on this and would really like for it to work.  Thanks in advance.

Hello, My Acer randomly BSOD with PNP error and after restart I have no sound and I get a red x on my speaker icon in the lower right corner where the clock is. I checked the Device Manager and I get a yellow exclamation mark under System Devices and it seems the problematic device is Intel(R) Smart Sound Technology (Intel(R) SST) Audio Controller. Under Sound, video and game controllers I have only one driver left - NVIDIA Virtual Audio Device (Wave Extensible) (WDM). When I click View --> Show hidden devices it shows the audio drivers which means they are disabled somehow, I think? Anyhoo, I've updated the problematic driver and hoped that this solved the issue but to no avail. I'm afraid to uninstall the driver because it's under System Devices and not under Sound, video and game controllers categories. I am starting to think it might be an hardware issue, but I seriously hope not. Perhaps you have some ideas what I could try to fix this?

My new VN7-792G arrived a few days ago and is a very nice machine indeed. The only odd thing is that the Fan seems to be quite loud when is starts going. I had an XPS machine before this so I am used to noisy fans, but this is quite high pitched and sounds almost as if it's imbalanced and reminds me of fans in old machines that begin to whine towards the end of their life. Oddly, the noise decreases if I lift one (or both) corners beside the hinges even slightly. I've also tried it on different surfaces in case it was a vibration issue between the laptop and the table it was on, but no success. Has anyone experienced anything similar, or is this normal?

A:Acer VN7 792G Fan noise

I think I had a very similar issue on VN7 792G, a noise like whistling. I was about to return the product but I think I fixed it. You probably won't like the solution. One of the below solved my fan noise issue (I don't know which) 1- Opened the case and investigate anything that might vibrate due to fan. First I saw that Acer forgot one of the screw of the mainboard so I placed a new one and screwed motherboard firmly no prevent any vibration. Also close to larger fan plastic casing of the (vibrating) fan was touching to the (stationary) case.  I put a soft electric band in between. 2- I put a little machine oil to both fans. This part is tricky, you need to know where to put (check online), also you will need an oil with small sized needle heads. It possible to access fans after removing keyboard. I suggest not turn upside down for sometime if you decide to put oil. best,

Hello, I did find a few threads about this but for other models, so I take my chance. I would like to buy a new ~240go SSD M 2 to upgrade my laptop. Can anyone confirm that there is actually a M 2 port inside ? I believe yes since I watched a few videos, but the laptop seller's website does not talk about it, so i'm confused. Is there any better SSD than another for compatibilty with the 792G ? I would like to use it as my main drive with Windows on UEFI in it, and the HDD I had will be used for storage. Same goes for RAM, what is the maximum RAM supported by this laptop ?

So I connect a 1080p TV to the HDMI port. Detects fine. But when I connect it, it displays in 720p (or something close to it, looks like 720p). Desktop Right Click > Display Srttings > Select TV > AdvancedThe resolution field is empty. Can't set it here, but I can for the built in display. *shrug* So instead...Desktop Right Click > Graphics Properties (which is Intel HD Graphics)I select the TV... It claims to be set at 1920x1080, which is BS. So now the real fishy part. I set the TV to mirror the built in display. My built in display is now at 720p, but HD Graphics claims I have them set at 1080. As soon as I disconnect the TV, the resolution on the built in display scales back up to 1080p. Icon sizes change, etc. It's very obvious something is not right. Any ideas or suggestions? I've tried everything I can think of. Oh and, I'm a Desktop tech. Something like this should be trivial...

Sound on my machine cuts out randomly.  Reinstalled audio driver but it still happens.  I think it is hardware.  If I tap on the case, I can get sound to come back.  Acer wants me to send it in for repair but I don't want to be without the machine for two weeks. I tried headphones (they work).  I am suspecting the headphone jack itself - maybe a bad mechanical connection where it switches from speakers to headphones. Anyone else have this problem or a solution?

I just picked up one of the 4k models with SSD and HD.  I'd like to put in a bigger hard drive but it's a PITA to open this thing up so it doesn't seem worth it just to put in a 2tb drive.  Will a 15mm 4tb drive fit in there? (I know I can get an adapter to put a 9.5mm drive in the optical drive bay much more easily than replacing the internal hard drive.)
