Preferred Solution: Can the memory be upgraded in my HP Laptop Model 15-ba009dx...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

PROBLEM: "Hardware reserved" for installed 4GB RAM upgradeI upgraded my RAM with an additional 4 GB, making my total to 8 GB (2 x 4GB). I used the exact same type of RAM that already existed in my laptop, which was a Samsung 4 GB 1Rx8 PC3L-12800S. In other words, I now have two of these Samsung 4 GB RAM sticks in my laptop. My problem is that the new 4 GB are set to "hardware reserved", and I cannot figure out how to use that RAM. I believe it is related to the integrated video. There is nothing in the BIOS to allow me to get that RAM available (my BIOS is dated near the end of 2016). I already looked within MSCONFIG and the "maximum memory" was already unchecked. Checking then unchecking did nothing to help. Laptop is a HP 15-ba009dx, still under warranty.

Would like to know how to modify the amount of dedicated video memory in this computer.  This is the second HP computer I've had this same problem with, there's no settings in the BIOS for this, and it's really very frustrating to upgrade the RAM only to find out that HP has once again made it near impossible to change this setting.  Anyone know where this is? Went from 4GB to 8GB system RAM, would like to upgrade for 1GB to 2GB dedicated video memory.

I've upgraded my memory in my Pack Bell laptop according to manufacturers guidelines and now my machine just blue screens.

If I take the memory out and leave my original memory in it works fine.

I had 256mb of PC2700 DDR 333MHZ and I bought another 512mb of PC2700 DDR 333MHZ

The BIOS sees my memory but it continually blue screens.

The blue screen error is as follows:

The problem seems to be caused by the following file: ACPI.sys
PAGE FAULT IN NONPAGED AREA

*** STOP: 0x00000050 (0x88BF02C1, 0x00000000, 0xF7BB6DIB, 0x00000000)

Can anybody help me.

Hi, I'm trying to find out just how much memory I can add to my laptop, it's Inspiron 17 model 3737, it has Kingston PC3L 12800S, 1600 MHz, 204 Pin, 4 GB install from dell and I was wanting to add 8 more GB to laptop to make it 12 GB, in reading thru some things on the computer it says it can support up to 16 GB of memory. But after reading in some of the forums people are saying that you can only add 4 more GB of memory.
I would hope some one out there can help me and tell me that yes 16GB is right, and just adding 8BG to have 12GB is fine,
Thanks
Ben

A:17R LAPTOP MODEL 3737 MEMORY

Hello, well I did some checking and to me it seemed I could add more than up to just have a total of 8GB of memory, so I ordered 1 stick of Kingston PC3L 12800, 1600 of memory the same brand of the 4GB memory the Dell 17r model 3737 came with, I wanted to stick with the same brand,So for the heck of it ordered and installed and well low and behold when I went in and checked system it is showing that I have 12GB of memory. So what it says of what I read on the computer was right, I can go up to 16GB if need be. But I think 12GB is more than enough memory for what I'm using my computer for, most web, and 2010 Office loaded like a champ with no problems. And is Duel Channel DDR3L SODIMM. So if anyone else is looking to up grade their memory look into your system and it will tell you.
But 30YEAREXPERT Thank you anyway for trying to help me and I do appreciate you time and help.

Hi..

I have an Asus A8V Deluxe for 6 months Ive been running 2 x 512 mb DDR 400 with no problem.

So today I purchased another stick of 512 mb of the same brand , Latency etc etc

re aranged my sticks so that they are in Dimm 0 , 1 and 2 just as it says in Manual . This then will allow single mode and not dual mode.

But I get No boot and no Picture..

Ok so I then test further..

I remove 1 of my original sticks and insert my new stick again no picture (Same slot ) so why dont this work..

Then I test my new stick on its own and it boots up NP and even runs 3 d Mark 05 all the way..

What do you think the problem is with this new stick in a sense that why doesnt it run with the other 2 and why doesnt it run in place of one of the others ?

Any ideas would be greatfull..

PS. Ive re set Bios prior to install of new Memory..

Thx

First, I just want to say "Hi" as this is my first post here. I'll just jump right into my issue:

I have a Dell 4600 Dimension computer with 1280 RAM. I recently bought a 512 MB stick to upgrade the RAM. I pulled out a 128MB stick and put the 512MB stick in its place. Needless to say, the computer didn't like this and upon boot up told me that the configuration of memory was incorrect. The message was something like "Expecting XXXRAM, showing XXXRAM..." or something to that effect.

I pulled the new stick out and returned the old stick to put it back to the original configuration. I get nothing but bluescreen now with Stop codes and an NTFS.sys file error. I ran a diagnostic test that Dell provides and everything passed.

What can I do?? Do I need to pull some memory out? I need to get back in to back up some stuff - especially my e-mail. Is there a solution that anyone can offer me?

Thanks!

hey there everyone.... i just bought 1G of memory for my computer and installed it but got an error message when i turned my computer back on. As it is, its only letting me use one of the 512MB sticks i just installed. I took a screen shot of my detailed computer information and it says there is 1Gig total for capacity but the "system info" (from control panel) tells me that there is only 512MB of memory. Take a look at the screen shot.

And on top of everything, each time that I turn on my computer I get this error screen after two beeps.
I know that its really hard to read because i had to shrink it to get it online. This is what it says....

Memory read/write failure at 3FFE00DC, read FE11FE91 expecting FE11FE11
Memory address line failure at 3FFE0000, read FE11FE11 expecting 01010101
Memory read/write failure at 20000001, read 00EF006F expecting 00EF00EF
Decreasing availible memory
Strike the F1 key to continue, F2 to run the setup utility

This is the first time that I have added memory or any internal hardware so im a novice. I followed the owners manual for removing and adding memory to my computer. I KNOW i have the right kind of memory . I have two user accessible SODIMM sockets and I bought 2 512MB sticks with the correct memory type (2.5V DDR SODIM), capacity, clock speed, etc. I have Windows XP home SP2; the updated BIOS (dell computer corp A33).... Why isnt my comp using both of the memory sticks. Please any help is greatly appreciated.

As a little xmas treat i got my gigabyte GA-H55M-UD2H mb some extra RAM. All had worked perfectly with OCZ 4Gb but when this was replaced with 8 Gb HMD (Crucial i think) i get nothing past the initial black screen loading windows files... not as far as the windows coloured logo. I dont get to safe mode or system repair. All activity stops.

I have swapped the slots the memory is in and swapped the memory in the slots so everything has been everywhere and still windows stalls before it starts at the black screen 'loading windows files' (or something very similar)

Bios reports 8Gb installed with the appropriate manufacturers specified timings etc

I have gone back to the original 4Gb memory and windows works fine after going through system repair and restoring to the last good setup.

If BIOS sees the memory OK should i expect window to as well? Any thoughts welcomed and gratefully received

Goto 'boot' tab

see if 'maximum memory' is checked, if so, uncheck it

Would someone from HP please send me a link to the latest BIOS for the 15-ba009dx notebook? The support website seems to be way behind.  It has BIOS F.13 and my system is at F.17. The HP support assistant doesn't show a BIOS update is available, but then again it doesn't show most of the availalbe hardware driver updates for this particular model. Thanks.

A:BIOS for 15-ba009dx notebook

Hi,   I'll not recommend to update BIOS unless it is said to rectify previous error/faults, it improves performance of the system, it provides additional functionality to the machine.  Do not update BIOS via HP support assistant software. If you do BIOS update without proper precautions you would very well brick your notebook.  F.13 A is the latest one listed, may be F.17 was taken off due to some issue in it.   Regards  Visruth

Hi HBHealing,
Welcome to Lenovo Community! And happy to have you here.

You can, ideally it's a good practise to use Memory Modules in pair like (4+4GB=8GB or 8+8GB=16GB) in total. But as said it will even work with 12GB Memory, thread with similar discussion. Memory specifications- 16GB max7 / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3L, non-parity, dual-channel capable, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets

Note-Please remove your Serial Number from the post

I hope the above information helped you.

Purchased a 15-ba009dx this week.  The laptop runs fine but does not resume from sleep. When I close the lid it sleeps ( disk stops spinning and fan stops )When I open the lid the disk spins up and the fan starts but the display stays black. At this point all I can do is hard power off then it will boot up fine. I changed it to Hybernate rather than sleep when the lid is closed and this workes with no issues I have disabled hybrid sleepI have updated the bios and driversI have updated windows

Hi,The only suggestion I could give is :Uninstall all AMD graphics driver from Device Manager - Display Adapter.Download, save and install this: http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/10862317/model/13...Restart system. Check if issue persists. If still there, do the above steps in installing this previous driver version:http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers/selfservice/swdetails/HP-15-Notebook-PC-series/10862317/model/13...RegardsVisruth

my grandson has an hp laptop that i want to put in the maximum amount of memory, but i can't find any specs on the numbers on the computer.  when i access the 'system' in his windows 7, it shows it has 1GB installed.  i've tried all of the model numbers on the tag on the bottom of the computer and i get all sorts of model number listings for this same number. i've had hp computers before with G models or DV models, but i can't find any of these numbers. here are ALL of the numbers on the tag:  584037-001, 00196-205-667-281 (plus a code number), x16-96072 00196.  i've looked up the 584037-001 on the net and i get posts showing 2-3-4 different model numbers that it could  be.  i've checked with the hp support page and with crucial memory and none of these numbers come up

Hi , I have replaced my internal hard drive with new hard drive (5400 rpm 500GB). I did hard drive test for new one and its passed though old was failed that's why i have changed.  The problem is that the "DISK"  and "Memory are quite high (sometimes its 100%) while working.  My Norton Anti-virus shows some windows ("svchost") services for the root cause.  Sometime it display other services. I don't the actual root cause. Confirguration of my machine is 64 bit, 4GB RAM, 500 GB HDD (5400 RPM). Do i need to increase my RAM or is there something which can fix this issue ? Thanks in Advance...! -Pankaj

Hello, For the model in Subject, it's possible upgrade the  RAM? If yes, what is the max? Is also possible change the HDD to  SSD? Thank you.

A:Notebook model: 13-u105nl Memory and hdd Upgrade

The memory is upgradeable to 16 gigs of DDR4-2133 in 2 slots or 2 x 8 gig.  It can take an M.2 mSSD drive, but only as an alternative to a regular 2.5 inch hard drive. There is a single bay and port and which drive you install depends on the adapter used.  HP has not yet posted a Manual for the 13-u100 series but the Manual for the 13-u000 series is available and shows access to the M.2 slot and memory. Manual  See pages 42 and 56. Memory upgrade is particularly challenging as it requires removal of the motherboard.  Post back with any questions.  If this is "the Answer" please click "Accept as Solution" to help others find it.

I bought a Lenovo T500 Model: 2242-33U, which came with two 1GB memory cards. (1) If I choose to replace the two cards with a single 4GB card, do I put it in the top slot or the bottom slot?(2) How much performance improvement would I get if I used two matching 2GB cards instead?  I?m not a gamer. THANKS

A:T500 Model: 2242-33U memory install

any ram slot will work as for the 2gb x2 you will not notice that much difference, if you do get the 4gb stick you could leave 1gb in and have 5gb if it will work

Hello

For a Lenovo B590, Model number 59410449, which has the i5 processor, what is the maximum amount of memory that is supported?

Mine shipped with 6 GB.  I'm worried that if the max is 8GB, I will have to buy two 4GB memory sticks.

Does anyone know what the maximum for this model number is?  Am hoping it is 16 GB!

Thanks.

A:B590 - Memory for Lenovo Model 59410449

Hi AC2000 ,

Welcome to the Community Forums.

Based on the product specification for this model , memory :
8GB max7 / PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3, non-parity, two 204-pin SO-DIMM sockets; * System automatically clocks down for processors with 1333MHz memory controller

This is the recommended Max memory supported for your model eventhou some processors can handle more (example : 15- 4310U handling 16 GB) since certain consideration are maintained by the systemboard and BIOS for full functionality and avoid non essential upgrades for users.

Your 6 GB ram probably have 2GB and 4 GB (PC3-12800 1600MHz DDR3) at the moment so you can simply match the a similar 4GB to max it to 8GB and be able to use dual channel synch for faster communication and transfer.

Hope this helped answer your query.
Update us what works best for you.

Regards

My computer was running extremely slow so I factory reset it but I had fallen asleep while it was resetting and must have knocked the charger out and it died while it was at 64% reset now it is on a seemingly endless loop of restarting every time it reaches 64% I have checked other websites which have told me to press either F2 or F11 which do not work. Is there any way I can fix this?

Hello all - first time poster on this forum.

I have a bust up fairly old Intel Celeron 600mhz laptop which could do with a new case/shell (not a bag, it needs the equivalent of a new desktop tower) but I don't know where to find one. I believe this is just a clone of similar laptops made around the same time and the model number is 6133. I was wondering if anybody knew somewhere I could purchase replacement shells/cases and if they stocked a case for this computer.

Everything on the laptop works fine except for a dodgy monitor cable (which would be fixed by moving everything into the new shell) so I don't intend to sell it for parts. I'm also quite experienced in fiddling with computers (my dad's a PC engineer so I've picked up quite a bit from him) and he is willing to help me get this laptop into tip top condition again.

I was also wondering if it would be possible to upgrade the motherboard and processor. At the moment it's a 600mhz intel celeron but I'd rather go with an AMD athlon of some sort as I believe them to be generally better. If anybody knows where I can purchase laptop motherboards to fit certain needs any help there would be gladly appreciated (am looking for a socket A motherboard). If the upgrade to Athlon is not possible I would like to know what the upgradability of my current motherboard is - I shall be looking inside the laptop within the next few days and can probably provide a number for it.

I think that with a fe... Read more

Howdy and welcome to the Forum.

Have you contacted the Manufacturer regarding replacement parts? That's where I would start.

BUT to be honest, although you do not give all the specs of the PC, I'd be willing to bet that you could replace the whole thing with a new laptop cheaper than replacing parts like case, MOBO, Processor, RAM, and HD !!!

So unless there is some "sentimental value", like the case broke stopping a bullet shot at you by terrorists...I'd shop for a new unit.

I ran the Lenovo Solution Center program on my Lenovo Ideapad 320-17IKB model 80 XM and it informs me of the following: Total memory = 8 GBMaximum Supported Memory = 32 GB Now, that's by Lenovo so I trust it.  I recognize that there are 4 GB of memory soldered in and there is a card with 4 GB of "replaceable" DDR4 memory installed. My question is whether I can install a 32 GB "replaceable" type DDR4 RAM card within?  OR whether that exceeds the "maximum supported memory" specification?  I do not know of amy 28 GB DDR4 RAM cars so I'm a bit confused?   I guess it boils down to what "Maximum Supported Memory" means?  Does it mean maximum supported "replaceable" memory?   PS-See image attached for Lenovo Solution Center info.
