Hardware/Non Detection issue

Q: Hardware/Non Detection issue

So...
Having a small issue with my laptop. i looked all over the internet and alas i came up with nothing whatsoever.
I ordered my laptop off of microsoft website because they had a deal for students, this was about 3 years ago.
The other day i was watching a stream on my laptop and it started making clicking noises and froze my computer, i restarted chrome and everything worked fine again.
then about a week later watching another stream, the clicking noises began again only this time it shut my computer off. so i turned it back on and this error came up(No boot device detected. strike F1 to retry boot Strike F2 to run setup utility or F5 to run onboard system diagnostics.)
So naturally i clicked retry boot a couple million times but to no avail nothing worked.
So i ran my onboard diagnostics. and it came up with hard drive not connected. so i was like okay my hard drives fried. so i connected a different one... same error message

So now ive come here for solutions, ive never in my life resorted to posting online about a situation. but this is just insane. either the connection from my computer to my hard drive is fried, Both my hard drives are fried or something in the softwares messed up.
All im asking for is a solution... Thanks.

Preferred Solution: Hardware/Non Detection issue

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Hardware/Non Detection issue

The hard drive is indeed toast -- if you post the model number (i.e., Inspiron N5110, 5521, etc.) someone can recommend a replacement drive.
If you did not prepare a set of recovery media when the system was new, you'll also need to contact Dell to purchase that now, as you'll need it to reload the operating system once you replace the faulty drive.

To enable movie viewing on 55" LCD TV

This is a pain in the rear for me but it is the only way to get the HDMI audio recognized as a valid option in Audio Playback devices. (Video always works but the audio is says not connected)

To get the HDMI Audio detected, I have to....
First - On my TV I have to select the HDMI channel that is connected to my PC
Second - I have to un-plug and plug-in the HDMI cable. (I can hear the Windows 7 found hardware sound)
Third - Now I can select HDMI as my default audio device (everything works great)
I usually have to repeat this process any time the PC or TV gets shut off. I am worried about wearing out the HDMI port by plugging and un[lugging so often. This can't possibly be the way it is supposed to work.

This is not an intermittant issue - it is a matter of the ATI HDMI detecting the audio connection and is very repeatable and consistant. All drivers ATI and VIA audio are the latest to date as of today.

Maybe it is the Plug&Play component - TV has to be on when turning on the PC or I have to manually force the detection process (as above)

Video = ATI 4550
MOBO = ASUS P7P55D-E LX

A:ATI HDMI Detection of Hardware issue

I have read many post on this issue and First of all yes the TV must be on at all times on the HDMI signal if you don't want the signal broken don't turn the tv off use you're power saving feature

Let windows turn the monitor off for you that way simple mouse movement will bring back the screen also you should be able to right click and disable onboard then enable the HDMI sound by right clicking

I might add using power saving feature is the only way to keep from breaking the HDMI connection also i don't advise any heibernation or sleep mode because that will just break the signal the best thing to do is let windows turn the monitor off but do not put your machine in sleep mode or any other power save featurn just treat your tv as a monitor

I find this the only and best way to work the ati cards and yes you keep unplugging and plugging the HDMI cable something is bound to go wrong eventually

Hi Guys

I recently built my fist pc, which I am pleased to say is going fine.

A friend wants me to build him one now but I would like a bit of advice.

I used a pc chips motherboard with onboard, sound, video, usb, Lan etc.

When I installed the os and it run for the first time , I kept getting the message "Windows has detected new hardware" and I had to keep cancelling till I eventually got to the point where windows had loaded and was then able to insert a disk that came with the motherboard, that had a set up facility to install the drivers all in one go.

Did I make hard work for myself, or is this the usual way to do it?

Also one other thing, I am tring to get into set up, by pressing Del when the pc boots (it tells me to do this) but it will not go in, and the pc just boots anyway. Any ideas?

Thank you very much.

Welcome to TSF.

First make sure that the device is compatible with XP. Next I would see if there are any drivers that are required to run if used in Windows XP. A digital camera will probably need drivers or software installed for it to work.

Does Anyone have an idea to turn off the detection of new hardware? I have almost all services turned off and it keep detecting a secondary monitor. I'm using an ELO 3200L with a dual core computer module windows 8.1 Pro with all current updates. I try disabling the secondary monitor and it just installs it again, I even disabled all monitors, and it install 1st monitor and second monitor. I also then deleted both monitors and windows just keeps installing them both.
Somehow windows detects a second monitor, installs it, the it will disappear on its own, then it will install it again, sometimes it will do this every 5 or 10 seconds. I figure if I can turn off "New Hardware Detection" This would solve the problem.

Thanks!!
Bobby

A:Need A Way To Turn Off New Hardware Detection

Obvious question, do you have a second monitor connected? Turning off new hardware detection is only going to cripple your system. What are you connecting to the ELO 3200L, laptop or desktop PC?

I am having a problem with two new Socket 478 motherboards. One is an Aopen and one is an ASUS. Both are brand new. I am replacing a defective motherboard in an E-machines computer. I have installed a new power supply and have tried both motherboards. Neither board with detect any devices connected to the secondary IDE interface. I have replaced hundreds of systemboards and have never had this problem. I have checked to make sure that the BIOS has this device enabled. One board is an Aopen MX46-800N and the other is an ASUS P4S8X-MX-UAYZ. I feel that I must be missing something obvious. I may try another power supply or is it possible for a CPU to be defective and cause this? I can't imagine that two new Motherboards would have defective secondary IDE connections.

A defective IDE cable or defective drive(s) or wrong jumper settings? And if you are using the 80-wire cable, then it does matter which plug goes where.

Not quite sure where to post this, but this seemed an appropriate place...

I was running a game that required all my system resources to run at an acceptable FPS, so I went about the process of stopping extra processes. In doing that, I entered services.msc and stopped services not essential to playing my game (DHCP, DNS, iPod, Themes, etc. (and yes, I know enough to not disable things that are necessary for running my computer correctly; this isn't the first time I've done this, just the first time I've had this problem)).

The problem is... once I restarted my computer, I found my network unreachable. I entered services.msc again, to find that all the appropriate services had started back up. Puzzled, I entered the device manager, to find my Network Adapter tab completely missing. I tried to Add Hardware, to no avail (nothing was auto-detected, and any driver I installed did not work (see below)). I tried manually installing the drivers using the CD that came with the MB, but XP won't let me install the drivers manually (it tells me to do it from the Control Panel). Also, pointing Add Hardware at the CD gives me the same installation options that I get pointing it at my local .dlls, so that doesn't work, either.

I did a little research and found that my lan device is one "VIA VT6103L 10/100Mbps Fast Ethernet PHY", which is better known as "VIA Rhine II Fast Ethernet Adapter". When running Add Hardware, that is one of the options to install... Read more

Hi,
Had a problem with 1 of our laptops and had to do a complete restore, when it all came back to running I can't get an internet connection. If I go to the wireless connection my network is listed but after inputting keyword phrase it can't connect. If I go to "set up a connection" > "set up a wireless router" Windows does not detect any wireless network hardware.
I can connect if I plug in the ethernet cable directly and this laptop was connecting perfectly to this router before the crash and restore.

When I installed Windows 7, there were tons of devices on my Asrock Z77 Extreme4 motherboard that were detected but not identified.

Windows 8 detected, identified and installed drivers for all of them except for 1. (In fairness, I have disabled some stuff in the motherboard, like infrared receiver, COM port and maybe others, so I don't know if those would have been identified.)

That said, should I install the drivers that came with the motherboard over the MS supplied drivers anyhow?

There was only one driver with an exclamation point in the Device Manager. It was called "PCI Communication Device" or something to that effect. Installing "Intel Management Engine Driver" from the motherboard DVD cured that.

But I still don't know what was that mystery device or what is the Intel Management Engine Driver.

A:Impressive detection/identification of hardware, with one exception

I wouldn't. Not unless if there are updated ones for Windows 8. Those drivers are built to use for Windows 7, not for 8.

If it works so far in 8, I don't think there would be a huge need to install third party drivers, except for the display drivers from NVIDIA and AMD when they're finalized for 8.

Hello,

Long story short, I had a malware infestation on my laptop.  I currently have run the latest versions of the following:

Avast - Full scan
MBAM - Full scan
adwCleaner
RogueKiller
Trend Micro Anti Threat
TDDS

Each one of these seemed to find things here and there, but I still have the problem. Combofix and aswMBR will not run due to "A device attached to the system is not functioning" error.

In Safe Mode Combofix will start to run but then I get a BSOD and reboot.  asw will come up but won't scan says "Error loading driver" when it starts then "Scan Error" when you try to run a scan.

I have two particular URL's coming up that Avast is currently blocking:
www.babaloonx.com and www.colboltuz.com plus one URL that is just an IP.

Any help is appreciated!

Hi guys

I've a Macbook Pro with the Win7 build 7000 running on it. Everything works fine except the microphone detection of the Realtek HD adapter. the macbook pro only has 2 jacks. one for the headphones and the other should be the mic/line-in.

By plugging in the mic from my headset, the realtek audio manager just shows me an input device instead of the microphone.
The built-in mic from the macbook works fine, but I prefer using my headset for skype.

Is there any workaround to fix this issue? how can i "tell" the realtek audio manager, that the plugged device is a mic?

I already installed the lates realtek HD drivers (2.18) and tried to assign the mic/line-in manually over the registry (Realtek HD Changing Jack output reassignments ( FIX )), but nothing could solve this problem.

here are some screenshots which are describing the issue. yes it's a german installation :-)

many thanks

Hello guys.

I have a small issue with a drive being detected from within my PC that works from an external caddie.

For a few years i have had two drives inside my system. C drive and F drive. I recently removed both drives when i went off to India for a few weeks for security reasons. Today i find the F drive is not showing up. It is listed under "Show hidden hardware" in the profiles. I opened up the PC and swapped the ribbon cables around and rebooted. It started to install new hardware and stated it had installed it because i seen the name of the installed hardware (The F drive) yet it was still not listed in "My Computer" alongside the C drive. I then removed it an placed in in an external caddie and booted again. I got the same install message ( I had uninstalled the driver prior just in case) and it installed from the caddie and works.

I can not run it from there because i have two other drives that need to be listed for my Music Studio when it scans for files needed to open past and present work that uses files located on those drives my name. The issue can not be the cables as they both run C drive internally.

I will try again later to install it from inside the PC as my main slave drive but it seems null. The issue may be software based or configuration based. But so far , i am mystified by this issue.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance.

Good day,

I have an unusual situation with my HDMI and would like some advice or ideas.

I have 2 TVs with HDMI input, both LG (I believe 32LH20R and 22LH20R).

When I connect my hdmi to 22lh20r, the sound device says "not connected".
When I connect to 32lh20r, everything works fine.
If I connect to 22lh20r after connecting to 32lh20r, the sound device is now detected!
But when I reset my computer, the sound from 22lh20r says "not connected" again.

I tested two notebooks on it so far, and could reproduce on both. One with a GeForce 9600M GT and the other with a GeForce GT 540M.

I think that this could be some issue with the TV, but since it work after connecting to the other TV, I was thinking if there is a way to force the detection, or to force the driver from one TV to the other, or something like that.

Thanks in advance.
Gui

A:Issue with HDMI sound detection - unusual situation

Additional information:

I tryed to override EDID, with phoenix edid editor and monitor asset manager, but had no success with that. Turns out that they only collect the first 128 bytes from the edid, leaving the CEA extensions out, and this would be where the EDID stores whether the monitor has audio or not. =/

Also, it seems like it's not possible to "force" the playback device to "be detected", or at least I didn't find a way so far.

If anyone could help with EDID overriding, or this way to trick windows into believing HDMI sound is connected, I would appreciate a lot!

Thanks,
Gui

not sure which section this pertains to specifically, but "drivers" seems close enough.
issue

i recently upgraded to an sli graphics configuration. since upgrading, my previous method of avoiding the TDR driver crash has stopped working.
known fix that i can't get to work anymore

when running a single gpu, i could disable and uninstall the nvidia hd audio device, then disable and uninstall the hd audio controller under system devices. problem solved, no crashes.

after adding the second gpu, there are now two hd audio devices and two hd audio controllers. upon disabling or uninstalling either controller, the system automatically re-installs the hd audio devices previously uninstalled, which in turn causes the hd audio controller to re-enable/re-install itself.

to be clear, all hd audio devices and hd audio controllers on my system must be disabled AND uninstalled to prevent TDR (or, since the upgrade, full system freezes or restarts. sli = double TDR?)

Hi,
I got a problem with the Internet Explorer 11 installation I received through Windows Update. It is on a
Windows 7 x64 SP1 computer.
The installation failed, and Internet Explorer 11 doesn't appear under the Show Installed Updates section of Programs and Features.
Because of that, Windows Update tries to re-run the update, but keeps failing everytime.
My first idea was to download the IE 11 installer for Windows 7 x64 from Download Center and launch it; it fails with the error message "A more recent version of Internet Explorer is already installed".
When launching IE, effectively, the version is 11.0, but if I try to install an update for IE, like an IE 11 language pack or just a security update, it fails saying it doesn't apply to this system.
So basically, the IE installer detection logic says IE 11 is installed, while Windows Update says it is not, as for other updates related to IE 11. I have a tendency to believe Windows Update since it doesn't appear in Show Installed Updates.
I tried removing the HKLM\Software\Microsoft\Internet Explorer registry key and its equivalent under SYSWOW64, no result. I also deleted the iexplore.exe file under Program Files\Internet Explorer and Program Files (x86)\Internet Explorer, no result. Removing
those files is not easy since you have to take ownership on each of them because of the default permissions that are very tight.
Does someone knows the detection logic of the IE 11 ... Read more

In what way is the mouse cursor "acting funny"? Is the mouse not working? Is it not longer the arrow that it should be? "Acting funny" doesn't really say WHAT the problem is...

I've got a really strange problem, that makes it really difficult to post any diagnostic information about the problem. I've tried running HiJackThis, MalwareBytes anti-malware, Trendnet housecall online scanner, GMER, ad-aware, Spybot S&D, RootRepeal and dds.scr. The results are pretty much the same for all of these programs. The scan/analysis starts, sometimes it gets partway through scanning, and then the application window gets closed. After this happens, in the case of .exe files, the resulting program is rendered useless, in that further attempts to launch it result in a "Windows cannot access the specified device, path or file. You may not have the appropriate permissions to access the item." and you also cannot rename, or delete the file.

Trend-net housecall is also pretty interesting, in that it runs inside the browser, and after it was terminated (part way through the scan) iexplore.exe now exhibits the same error in not being able to launch. This not being able to launch persists across reboots also. I then installed firefox.exe on the system, was using it for a brief period, tried trend-net housecall and now it too is showing the error in not being able to launch.

dds.scr is able to be to be re-launched, and it brings up the black command window type screen, but never brings up the notepad windows. It seems unaffected by the termination behaviour, and is able to be re-launched.

I was able to run A2 anti-trojan, and do have a log of what it... Read more

My laptop is T430 of Lenovo. I have two drives installed on my computer, one is SSD (128 G, PLEXTOR), another is HDD (500 G, Samsung). Now I have encountered a serious issue that I could not find the HDD in my Windows 10. Almost two weeks ago, I found my laptop crash frequently. I think there is an extreme incompatibility between the Windows 10 and SSD. I even reinstalled my OS for several times. But it still crashed. Even I opened a simple word file, it does not respond. Two days ago, the issue got even more serious. When I boot my system, I found a problem with "2100: Detection error on HDD0 (Main HDD)". It suggests me to press the "ESC" button to enter into the OS. However, I could not find my HDD on my computer anymore. I have some paramount important data and files in this drive.  Could some friends provide some meaningful suggestions of recovering data and files for me, please?  I'm very anxious. Thank you very much!

ok the specs of the machine are

AMD athlon xp 2100+ mb is a gigabyte 7vt600-rz
2 512mb ram in the last 2 slots
500 watt psu
a maxtor 40 gig hdd
a cdrw lite on, and a cdrom.

only the floppy cdrom and hard drive are hooked up all on there own cable with only one device on each.

the cdrw is failing to read disks at the moment although it worked earlier today.

ok the problem comes in when I try to fdisk the drive I have jumpered it to master and cable select. both only let me see 2gigs of the 40gig drive to fdisk if I say I dont want the maximum it says it has 8gigs but I can only fdisk 2gigs though there are no other partitions the first time I fdisked it showed all 40gigs but since then it only shows 8 or 2 depending on what I am doing atm the hdd has the dos system files on so it can boot but that is all any suggestions would be great Derrick

Every time I boot up, I get hit with two "Found New Hardware" things, something about an ethernet controller and an SM bus controller. The computer works fine, but I'm getting sick of that stuff popping up. Is there any way to disable it, other than having to hunt down drivers which may or may not fix the problem?

A:Can you disable the "new hardware" detection?

The only way is to disable the items trying to be found...
Run, devmgmt.msc, enter find the yellow"?" and disable the devices there, apply and reboot.

I am having difficulty with my ASUS SDRW-08D1S-U external optical drive. My computer is an ASUS UL30A notebook with Windows 7. The strange thing is that it was working initially, but now a few days later, it stopped working for some reason. If I go to My Computer, I can see my harddrives (C and D) listed, but not my optical drive. If I go to Control Panel, and click on Devices and Printers, I see my optical drive listed under Devices as SDRW-08D1S-U, with a small yellow triangle icon with an exclamation point on it. If I double click on it, and then click on the Hardware tab, it states at the bottom – “Device Status: Windows cannot load the device driver for this hardware. The driver may be corrupted or missing.” If I click on the Properties button, it basically says the same thing, with the addition of: (Code 39). I have tried updating the driver, and it states that I have the appropriate and latest driver. I have tried disabling and enabling driver. I have tried right clicking on the icon and Troubleshooting.

Finally, I tried uninstalling the driver. And then when I plugged the drive back in, it states that the “Device driver software was not successfully installed.”

I am using the supplied USB Y cable with both ends plugged in. I have tried it also with only one of the two ends plugged in, and also with regular non-Y configuration USB cables.

I will add that I never installed the original software on the CD that came with the drive. I was about to install it when ... Read more

A couple months back, had issues with windows attributed to virus. I formatted C drive and did a clean install. Last week, windows was having issues with win explorer stopping , random crashes etc so i did another clean install Friday.

Since then, I have had a few blue screens of death flash then the PC goes off.

Is it possible there is something wrong with my hardware vs win 7? is there software that will check my C: drive (an SDD Drive) and memory for issues?

Post up the crash dump file for analysis in our Crashes forum: http://www.sevenforums.com/crashes-d...tructions.html

Then begin working through the Troubleshooting Steps for Windows 7 starting with the hardware tests. If your SSD is still under warranty have their Support help you test it for possible RMA - we see plenty that need it.

I recently bought a new DVD RW drive to replace my old one which had a burnt out laser. When I put in the drives I set up my secondary hard drive and my new drive as cable select and attached the master connector to the hard drive and the slave connector to the DVD. I booted the system and immediately got a boot error saying it couldn't locate either of the IDE drives. So, I spent the next hour or so trying every possible jumper combination setting and got the error no matter what upon boot. Finally I put them both back to CS and just skipped past the error because I was sick of messing with it. To my surprise, the drives showed up in My Computer and functioned but at a very very slow speed. I ran a PC Pitstop scan and it showed a drive speed of 2mb/sec which is really slow. So, clearly something isn't being detected properly. For some reason also, my BIOS doesn't have any "auto-detect" option to try to detect attached drives so in the BIOS it just has two unknown devices attached to the primary and slave IDE drives.

Any help would be much appreciated.... thanks !
THanks

Ok. Im at my wits end with this computer.

My system will hang for 1-3 minutes randomly but with increased frequency right after a boot up. It will have moments of response within hang. Any click or action performed during the hang will be performed upon the hang finishing. The cursor is 99% of the time still responsive. If you click on an internet window to close, it will say not responding until the hang is over. Cntrl-alt-del will pop up after the hang. It will never permanently hang. And it seems to happen with less frequency after being powered on for a while. But will still occur. It can happen no matter what i may be doing on the computer.

I have observed the task manager during hangs and nothing seems to stand out
I have done a complete OS reinstall and the problem persists.
I have replaced the video card (gts 250 512mb)
I have run malbytes with no issues.
I have performed memtest and memory passed.
I have used passmark software for benchmarking hardware and nothing failed or under performed.
I have checked all connections within the tower.
I have lost sleep.

I?m at work when posting this so I don?t have my exact pc component list
AMD x2 phenon dual 2.7
evga gts 250 512mb
gigabyte motherboard
oz ram x2 - 2gig sticks
windows 7 home

i can follow up post more accurate system information.

Thank you in advance for any help and insight anyone may provide.

A:OS or Hardware issue?

Hi

Welcome to Seven Forums
Have you tried booting with all other external peripherals disconnected apart from the mouse and keyboard?
Also have a look at updating the drivers for your hardware - in case you need to verify the installed hardware, the device manager will list these.

I have 3 Hard drives hooked up to my computer, Primary(20 GB) IDE, Slave IDE( 80 GB), and a SATA hooked up from a PCI Slot(SATA Contoller) that is 120 GB. When i hooked up the SATA awhile back, i would get my primary hard drive making a beeping noise every now and then, when this happens everything freezes, and until it stops beeping, everyone will stay frozen, when it stops, everything is back to normal. Now when i put in my slave yesturday, it began happening alot more frequently, if i was using something from my SATA HD(thats where my games are installed) and it started to beep, the computer would fail to recognize that the SATA HD existed and the game would close. I'm guessing it has somehting to do with me having 3 HD's set up, because I just unplugged the 2 and am using just the Primary and everything seems find. Anything i can do to fix the problem?

A:New Hardware Issue

Good Morning frobro, these kinds of problems can be difficult to sort out.

I have no idea what the problem might be but you might try this HDDRegenerator, it is a small simple bootable scanner that will not affect any data but still give an integrity check.
(with the benefit of possibly fixing one bad spot)
http://www.dposoft.net/

When you boot on this (making the CD is best) it will give a simple straight forward type screen, select the drive you wish to scan and keep entering.
The thing takes a while to run but is worth the wait.
You may need to restart to do the other drives.
(That will keep you quiet for a few days!!!)
The object of the exercise is simply to discount drive surface failure as a problem.
Someone will likely suggest some more ideas.

Cheers, qldit.

Hi.
A hi temperature issue maybe? If is that the case maybe your laptop needs just a good cleanup.
Lets see....
The easy way is,download Core Temp ,the standalone version, extract it in folder to ur desktop, start the coretemp, snip and add the attachment here.
The other way is to,enter in the BIOS and watch the temps in there, how?
Restart your computer. At the first text on the screen or when the Dell logo appears, tap F2 until the message Entering Setup appears.
Some oldest computers use alternate keys for the bios,as....
<Ctrl>+<Alt>+<Enter>
<Delete>
<Fn>+<F1> (laptop computers only)
<Fn>+<Esc> (laptop computers only)
--------------------------------------------------
The attachment is from my computer, those are <<normal>> temps.
For laptop is a bit different.
