Q: question about outlook and mediacom mail communication...interesting story at least

this is going to sound bizarre, but i need the info...i have been sending my husband nude photos to his mediacom email account. i asked him for his password and he freaked out and said i couldn't have it. it seems silly, but why would he say no? anyway, i don't want his password at all, i'm just wondering if someone can verify something for me...my husband claims that he cannot give me his password because i won't be able to see any emails, as all his emails sent to the mediacom address are forwarded in 15 seconds to outlook express on his work computer. he claims that i cannot have his password because the mediacom email is for work, and others in his store have access to the address log in, but he says they cannot see my photos because they are going to outlook. how does this work? sounds odd to me. basically, even though on my home computer i can go to the mediacom website and technically log in to his account if he gave me his password...but i wouldn't see any emails?
this is what hubby says...and is outlook truly this amazing

mediacom doesn't delete the messages, outlook express takes them from mediacom, and delivers them to my inbox....It is amazing when you think about it.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

If he has Outlook Express set to check for new mail every 15 seconds and to delete downloaded messages from the (Mediacom) server immediately then what he says is true. I've never used OE, but I doubt that you can set it to check for mail more frequently than every minute.

I'm trying to use the "install Outlook and import the .pst file" approach. I just have a question about how the MS Office install works. I unselect all choices except for Outlook and then proceed with the install, but there is no indication from the on-screen messages that only Outlook is being installed.

Can I safely proceed and not get my Office 2007 over-written?

Yep - just tick only Outlook and that's all it will install.

If so, and you have the setting to remove from server after download set, then they are NOT there for the other machines because they have been removed.

Could I copy these email folders into empty folders in "documents"?
Would this be "exporting" them? If so, would they disappear from my inbox?

Hi,

I just got a computer with Windows 10 on it, I did not (yet) make any configuration changes. I also use a router for high-speed Internet access.

I mused Thunderbird before, on my previous computer. I installed Thunderbird, and gave the data for my existing e-mail address, but for some reason Thunderbird cannot find or accept the correct settings. I spoke to my hosting company, the one that also hosts my e-mail address, and they tell me that there is a communication attempt by Thunderbird but for some reason no username etc. is given from Thunderbird to the webserver, They showed me the server log:

And I am trying to recover files with recovery programs. I was curious tho, if the person never saved a .dbx file and just used e-mails like normal, is it still possible to recover the e-mails? Is there some kind of log file or folder where outlook express maybe autosaves?

In Outlook 2003:

Select the Hotmail Account and make sure there is a check mark in: Include the selected account in this group
OK, Close to save your changes.
You may need to restart Outlook 2003 for changes to take effect.

I downloaded the Office 2013 preview and used it for a while (without uninstalling Office 2010). One thing that I didn't like is that, although my e-mails were indexed for searching within Outlook 2013, using Windows unified search (clicking the Microsoft button and searching for a phrase, for example) only turned up old e-mails that had been received and indexed when I was using Outlook 2010, but nothing received after installing 2013. Also, no previews of the old e-mails were available in the preview pane of the search window. Maybe all this was because I still had 2010 installed?

I'm interested in buying 2013 but I'm not going to do it if I can only search for e-mails within Outlook or if I can't preview them using Windows search. Can someone confirm for me whether 2013 is working as 2010 did with respect to Windows search, inlcuding previews if the preview pane is selected? Thanks..

A:Outlook 2013 / e-mail search question

OK, I answered my own question by shelling out $99 for Office 365 Home. Microsoft continues to believe that users don't want to use Windows search to search for e-mail messages or their contents, even though Microsoft itself delivered this technology when it first released Desktop search and then integrated it with Windows in Vista and Win 7. I use this feature literally every day. It's very frustrating when a software company takes something away that people have found useful, for no apparent reason. I can't believe that it was somehow not possible to retain the feature - it seems more likely that it took some work to disable it.

Yes, I do know that I can search for my e-mails within Outlook 2013. That's not how search is effective for me. I'm looking for something that I know I have, and I don't know if it's in a document, an e-mail, or whatever. I want to do what I've been able to do for several years now - one search to find my information, wherever it may be.

Even more frustrating, I can't keep Outlook 2010 as my e-mail client and use Office 365 for all the other Office suite apps (Word 2013, Excel 2013, etc.). Even if I keep and use Outlook 2010 as my "default" e-mail client, that doesn't solve my problem, and anyway, even with the default box checked in Outlook 2010, it's not really the default. Why do I say this? Because I uninstalled Office 365 and left Outlook 2010 (and the rest of Office 2010) insta... Read more

Hi Anyone whom may have the answer!

I have been using Outlook Express for quite a few years. When wanting to create an e-mail, I have usually hit the new mail button. My ready to edit e-mail opens. I then click on address book to open it, then scroll thru the list and select the one to enter it the To box. It enters, then I proceed to type the message, etc.

I recetly acquired a new puter with WIn XP with also the latest version of outlook experss. Upon opening my mail to send and edit a mail, I noticed that just below the inbox, outbox, sent items, etc on the left collumn that there is already an address book showiing all my entries, etc. And in order to select a recipent, all I had to do was double click on the person, and new e-mail would open with the To already filled in with the intended recepient entered. I thought , How Cool! It saves a few moves from using the previous method of clicking on the intended recepient, then clicking the OK button to enter the recipent in the to Box.

Well! The other day I probably clicked on something I shouldn't have, and that new to me, handy feature had disappeared. Now, I have to use the old method of entering a recepient into e-mails. Can anyone tell me how to get that handy feature back?? I have searched thru express Help and also XP help and am not finding anything referring to that Feature, that has disappeared.
Any Help would be appreciated!
Thanks all!

Hello - I was working on my computer when I was very tired & I briefly fell asleep with my keyboard as the pillow.

When I awoke.....I noticed that all of my "Sent Items" had disappeared. I probably had around 150 of them because from time to time I would need to refer back to one of them. If they are gone for good - that is going to be a real bummer.

My E-mail Program is Outlook Express. I went to the Recycle Bin in case they were there & they were not. I'm far from a computer whiz. I'm 60 years old so didn't study them in school. I moved from the West Coast To GA about 8 years ago.

When I lived out West I played a lot of poker, but when I moved to GA there were no Casino's with poker rooms in them or any stand alone poker rooms. Since I like poker so much I taught myself how to play poker online....these are real games for money....although since 2006....online poker for American players has gone downhill drastically because one retired senator decided he didn't like Americans playing poker.....so much for the land of the free.

I just mentioned the last paragraph so folks would know about how much experience I have. Of course, once I learned how to do other things on my computer such as burning CD's.....I have picked up some more computer knowledge....but I'm sure to most folks here I would be considered a novice.

A:Solved: I have a question about my E-mail Program which is outlook express

I wasn't sure how to use the edit button on the post I made about 10 minutes b4 this one. One thing I just noticed in my E-mail program was that the number of "deleted items" is quite a bit higher than b4.

I also noticed that one of the 1st deleted items now is an e-mail I sent yesterday. I would say that it sorta looks like the "sent items" all moved to the "deleted items" but the number after deleted items now says 71 & I thought I had around 150 of them as I mentioned in the previous post.

But I guess its possible I was wrong about that. Anyway - is there a way to move the items that are now at "Deleted Items" back to the "Sent Files" area. I right clicked on the "Deleted Items"" heading &
I didn't see a way to move them back to "Sent Files" - but again, I'm a novice.

Any Help Again Would Be Very Appreciated. THANKS

Trying to get a friend fixed up here... she had her email account (inboxes and all) disappear from her Thunderbird 2.x. Local Folders are still there and she is receiving mail somehow, all her Inbox subfolders are still there and populated, but the mail account has disappeared from the tree and all her old Inbox contents are missing.

Now here's the thing: the entire original Inbox and the rest of the account are still there in the profile folder on the disk, but the folder tree in Tbird doesn't show them.

And now the really odd part: I created a new test account with fake settings... and it doesn't appear in Tbird's folder tree either.

Any thoughts on this?

This little dilemma started a few days ago. I receive huge amounts of e-mail (as you probably all do) and was downloading the latest batch of (mostly rubbish). A piece of e-mail came in blank. Then another, an another and so on. All told, after the first one, about a dozen were blank (with a Document Done message at the bottom of the page). And I know for a fact that they weren't sent that way. In fact, a few that I had read were now blank when I selected them a second time.

Okay, I'm not happy but I figure it's a hiccup of some sort. Then I find that I can't delete them either. When I download more e-mail later, it comes in fine if there are only a few pieces but the next day this happens again.

To make a long story short, I am now using OUtlook Explorer to access my e-mail, which is a pain in the neck because I use Netscape for everything else. I tried reinstalling 7.0 and upgrading to 7.0.1 with no change. I have about a dozen pieces of five day old blank emails that I can't get rid of.

Anybody had this happen with Netscape 7? Or am I the only lucky one?

Hi, this is my first post so apologies in advance for any questions that are obvious...

I have purchased a download from digital river and converted that into and ISO and burnt that file to DVD.

I then attempted a clean install of Win 7, however this did not work. My PC eventually went on standby after displaying a blank screen for approximately 15mins.

I have since reinstalled Vista to find that I am running a 32 bit version and I have downloaded a 64 bit version of Win 7.

I thought about using another HDD to install Win 7 on so I can continue to use Vista if installation fails again.

Will this work? If it does, once installed how do I tell my PC to boot from the HDD that Win 7 is installed on?

If not, what can I do next?

Thanks in advance,

Ad

A:Installation Story/Question(s)

The easiest way, without becoming all technical, to do what you want is to disconnect the Vista hard drive from the system when going to install 7 on a new hard drive.

Once Windows 7 is installed and running good, you can reattach the original Vista drive.

To choose between 7 or Vista, you can go into bios when booting (usually delete key, keep pressing it) and choose which hard drive is your default first boot device.

If you have both operating systems running well, we can then help you have a screen when you start your pc to choose either without going into bios.

Or we can get rid of Vista and reclaim its hard drive space.

That's all later on though, in your instance. Let us know if and when you need help.

A:Interesting question

A quick google search

Question: How can I send faxes with my cell phone?

Answer:
Our fax software can send faxes with cell phone modems, as long as your modem can be seen from a COM Port on your computer, and your cell phone carrier supports this. You may need to call your cell phone service provider to ask if faxing is supported.

Is there a way to block someone from booting up a computer?

SO can i get some PCI card to fulfill this desire? Or is this just impossible....?

A:An interesting question

The laptop screen is hard wired (digitally) to the laptop motherboard.

It's a proprietary digital interface that differs between makes and models.

It's not therefore "available" to use as an external monitor, even if you were to disassemble the laptop.

They didn't, the problem was created by an outdated file located on the Microsoft Update servers.

When the Windows Update Client on your computer tries to update, first it check if there is a new version of the client on the server and during that check it downloads a file that didn't pass the validation check because of the expired date.

Hi,

What I'm trying to do is easy enough in thought, and I'm pretty sure I've seen this in a corporate setting but anyways what I'm looking to do is..

I run a business business, and I have one customer support employee. She answers the customer support e-mails that come to her via Outlook 2007 on her computer that we have setup for a few different e-mail accounts - all of which she answers.

I am part owner of the company, and for the first time in a while; I would like to take a more hands-on approach in my business moving forward.

In doing so, I would like to be able to view - both the e-mails in from the customers, and the e-mails that she sends out. I would also like to answer e-mails myself, and for her to be able to view the e-mails that I had sent out - so she can get a good idea of what to send if she is asked that question in the future.
I was hoping for this to be some type of add-on to Outlook that I could easily download or pay a small fee for - but I'm up for anything that would do what I stated above.

Please let me know if there's anything out there like this, any response is greatly appreciated.

A:Question About Outlook Admin Account - Trying to View Employee's Cust. Support E-mail

Hi there, welcome to the board!

Depends on what kind of mail account you have. If you have POP or IMAP, you could setup the account on both machines, but that will only ensure you both receive the same email. For ensuring you send to each other, assuming you have the same account, you could bcc yourself to ensure you both get emails. Depending on how many emails you send, you could potentially overload your servers number of requests (emails) per day (generally what I've seen is set at 250).

Another option would be to look at Office 365 for your business. Not only would this give you an Office install on up to 5 machines, but it would give you an Exchange email address and a company Sharepoint site. It's a subscription-based service, and if you price it out it's actually pretty cheap. They start as low as $4/month and go up from there. For more info take a look here:

one of the mucky-mucks got a new laptop today, imaged it, installed his custom apps, copied over his profile, installed all necessary software for his various apps, and the only problem I am having is that he wants his custom dictionary imported. Now, I know that with word it's normal.dot; I know this as I tend to have most of my office suite products pretty customized and back up the toolbars rather frequently, as I don't feel like re-adding a few thousand entries into the custom dictionary.

My question, however, is is there a place where office stores ALL of the custom dictionary stuff, as when he opens outlook all his custom entries are popping up in spell checker, and he understandably doesn't want to rebuild that.

I had thought that by bringing over his profile it would solve that issue, or rather had assumed it, as nobody has ever voiced that question before in 5 years of doing this.

So is there a central repository that office dumps stuff in outside the profile that I need to bring up to his new machine?

For instance do keyloggers pickup this or is it hidden.
Just a curious question?

It would help if you have a hardware keylogger but I don't think it would help if you had a much more common software keylogger.

I've got a user on a wyse thin client. On the wyse box, anytime she click on either 'attach' from the main ribbon or the insert ribbon, the attach window opens and the app freezes. When she opens a new email and drags and drops, it works fine. When she logs onto a pc on the domain, it works flawlessly. I've checked/done the following:

no disco'd network drives
reset nav pane
outlook in safe mode
dumping cookie and cache from IE
removing email profile and re-adding
cached/non-cache mode
switching between text, rich text, and html in the editor options
scanpst
repairing the ost
repairing outlook
repairing the entire damn 2010 office suite

Nada.

I'm thinking at this point it's her wyse profile that needs rebuilding, but given the endless vagaries of the dfs servers, I'd just as soon not do that. The wyse pulls it's image from our HQ, I've got hundreds of users on them, this one is the only one with this rather interesting and very frustrating issue.

I connect to a hotspot with a USB dongle. I want to connect another machine, a Wii to be exact, in another room but it can't recieve the signal from the hotspot. I was wondering if there was a way to use the wireless router I have, which only has one input and that is ethernet, to somehow extend the signal to the other room? I have no way of plugging my USB adapter into the router. Can the router plug into the ethernet port on my computer and transmit what is being received via the USB dongle? Thank you guys so much.

A:Interesting USB adapter / router question.

Bridging wireless connections with a pc

Short answer yes.
I currently have a DLink router in one room, a gaming bridge in another room and a USB wireless adapter in a third room. The internet connection from my cable modem service is being bridged to the usb adapter which relays all the internet to the router. The router also communicates wirelessly with the gaming bridge passing along all that traffic.

If you can connect the WII to the router/gaming bridge(one ethernet port makes it sound more like a bridge) then connect the router to your pc using the ethernet port. Finally there should be two connections under "Start>settings>network connections" (assumes windows xp). Select the two connections (holding ctrl while clicking) then right click either and select "bridge connections". That should pass all traffic from your wireless USB adapter to the ethernet adapter.

I don't have a WII but for the XBox 360 bridging was prefered to Internet Connection Sharing (ICS) as it blindly forwards all ports and eliminates the need to specify what ports are necessary for gaming.

Good Luck

On discord, its not uncommon for me to come across "Cursed MP4 Files" with strange properties.

I'm incredibly interested how the creators of these files were able to get their results and mostly I want to make my own "cursed files". Some of the properties I've seen are video lengths upwards of 13,000 hours long, yet still being 1 MB. I've also seen videos that have negative video lengths and videos that display the video length as 0, yet still plays a video.

How were some of these made? I can file share the specific MP4 files in question

Hi,

I would like to know if it is possible to add the username and password information into a hyperlink so that as soon as the hyperlink is clicked it will go to the specific page and bypass the sign on screen.

The website in question has an .aspx ending to it. Have just found out i cannot post the exact site on these forums.

I notice this is an asp page and wonder if this is possible or not, I have 30 children accessing these hyperlinks at a time for a class and it would be helpful if each and everyone of them did not have to sign in.

Thanks
Chris

I'm wondering if someone can help me with this rather complicated and interesting problem. I went on vacation and while I was away I checked my e-mail and deleted an e-mail from my source e-mail client (Shawmail...it's like Hotmail). Usually when I do this and I get home, any e-mails that I have deleted will show up in Outlook Express. This can be annoying, but this time I need to retrieve an e-mail that I deleted. I've talked to the Shawmail people and they say they can't do anything. So my question is...is there a way I can retrieve this deleted e-mail using my Outlook Express 6? Thanks in advance.

A:Interesting Outlook Express Problem

If it was deleted from the server then you're sunk. If it was on your pc then deleted it may be possible to get it back.

I just reformatted my computer and i know a decent bit about computers but im having trouble reinstalling my mediacom internet. My dad has a computer that send the signal into our router (a Linksys Model EZXS55W Router) and then over that on a lan to my computer.

If anyone knows how i could get my mediacom internet set up again id appreciate it.

A:Mediacom problems

best solution would be to wire u're computer to the router, then both computers would send out and and in, and then both could share files once the network was set up.

Can someone help with this issue? I have an issue with the communication of Outlook 2007 with our Exchange Server on various computers. I have computers with Vista Business with an ASUS P5GC-MX/1333,- motherboard - micro ATX - i945GC, using on-board networking.
The other computer has Windows 7 with an Intel Desktop Board DG41RQ, using on-board networking.
Most of the computer with Vista Business communicates with the Exchange Server like a snap, but there are other along with the system that have Windows 7 that are very slow opening Outlook and linger for a long time when opening PDF attachments, especially when they are bigger files.
These are fairly new to new computers and i’ve tried everything that I could think of:
· Compare and update Windows/Service Packs
· Reinstall Outlook
· Reinstall/Repair Windows
· Test with an individual NIC
· Compare Specs (all have Dual-Core CPU E5200)
Anyone else have any ideas?

A:Solved: Microsoft Exchange/ Outlook 2007 communication

I solved it myself. In Outlook, go to Tools, Options, Email Settings, View/Change current settings, Exchange Server setting, at the bottom click on More Settings, enable Cached Exchange Mode.

This will install your Outlook database locally (at least your inbox), which gives you the ability to access mail and attachments faster.

The thread I commented on concerning my issues with Mediacom has been locked. I figure I would start a new thread to follow up with my issue.

Recap is I've been having progressively worse performance with my Mediacom service for the past few months. It started off with poor streaming and VPN instability. Now it's affecting regular web browsing where Facebook pages take forever to load and some web pages necessitate a browser refresh to get the web page to load. In addition, doing ping tests to a known server on the Internet results in consistent packet losses.

So I finally broke down and contacted Mediacom to do death by scripted troubleshooting. Fortunately, I didn't have to do this. The tech I spoke to on the phone immediately saw major issues on my line. Said there is a lot of noise and there's no doubt someone needs to come out to figure out what is the problem. I have a service call set up for this Saturday. I'll report back on the results of the service call.

I also wanted to mention something else with my experience with Mediacom. It appears Mediacom has this policy to nag their customers to death. Since setting up the service call last Thursday, I've been getting at least one call a day from their automated system stating I have a service call scheduled and if my problem has been resolved to call in and cancel the appointment. Some times I get 2 to 3 calls on the same day. These calls are happening on my cell phone and has... Read more

I'm currently using the Arris Surfboard SBG6580 and paying for 100 DL / 10 UL.
I still get high download speeds but my upload has been fluctuating between 0.1 and 1.5 Mbps.

I tried adding/removing a splitter, switching power input to wall (instead of power strip), resetting to factory on modem (and getting new firmware on it), resetting modem power. I even bought a brand new modem and just routed the Ethernet from it to my PC and saw the same speeds.

Any ideas?

Hello, its been a while since I have needed help but I do have a major problem. I have cable service with Mediacom. Well my cousin notified me that all the emails she is sending to me are being returned as blocked. I called my server and they said that AT&T is their server and they are responsible for blocking wavecable.com I have called tech support, emailed AT&T yet my cousin still cannot send me emails. I think this should be against the law and I am beginning to get very supset. Does anyone have any knowledge of how to correct this problem?? My cousin very seldom even sends a joke, mostly just news of the family and I miss hearing from her and I do not like my emails being policed. The way I found that her emails were blocked, she send one to my brother and he forwarded it to me. So help will be greatly appreciated. Thank you so much.

A:AT&T & Mediacom blocking emails HELPPPPPPPPPPP

When one ISP blocks emails from another one, it's usually done on the basis the the one being blocked has been identified as having poor security or allowing spammers to operate.

But to be very clear, it will not be your email address that is specifically blocked, it will be everyone that uses your ISP mail server.

It is something that the two ISP's need to work out but you should lodge the complaint with your ISP, you have no contractual relationship with any other in the matter.

These things do happen from time to time and are usually resolved between the ISP's in a few days or so. There are "lists" of ISP servers that have been identified as allowing spam to be sent from them. If a company bases their blocking process on those lists. then the blocking of all email to everyone using that ISP server is affected, it's unlikely to be anything related to just your email address. You share the server with thousands of others...

My Dell desktop worked fine 2 weeks ago before I moved to a new house. We now have Mediacom's Extream package for our able and internet. After connecting my Dell Optiplex 760 with Windows 7 64 bit to it, I now have multiple problems. Neither Google Chrome or Internet Explorer will open pages, although I can open bookmarks with no problem. Windows Update gets hung up every time I try to update. Has anyone else had this problem? I am afraid to try and delete Google Chrome and reinstall it because I won't be able to get online to do it. Is there a simple way to find out where my problem lies? Could it just be a bad windows update that is hanging up everything else? Any help would be appreciated. My PC info is below.

Does anyone know if possible to make a wireless connection for/using only one computer?

I have Internet wired connection through Mediacom. However, I would like to make this wireless. I own a Netgear RangeMax 10x that I used when I roommated a long time ago, connect with my roommate's Internet so I can have wireless Internet in my room. btw...This was not stealing because her Internet provider said it was okay as long as we were not online at the same time. She rarely went online and it was in the evenings when I wasn't home.

I can get a strong wireless signal but no Internet connection through the Netgear. I have never tried connecting the Netgear for wireless by using only my one computer. Therefore, I'm not sure if this is possible. I would like to keep the modem and Netgear on one side of the room, so I can move the computer and monitor to the other side of the room.

What is the brand and model of your modem?

Did you reset the router to factory defaults before doing any configuration for your current use?

Did you remember to power cycle the modem when switching from computer to router? And did you double check that you connected the modem to the router's WAN port?

I have an Windows (Vista) notebook with outlook 2007, and now I have an new notebook with Windows 8.1. Where I want to export my mail & contact to Windows live mail, how can I import this in WLM on my other notebook?

I already have configure my mail on WLM where I can receive and send messages. I tried something with the program Mailstore 8 but my mail is now on another computer.

I also find this link: how to export mail, calendar contact in outlook to windows live mail clientWith the "Outlook Conversion Application" solution but is this possible on different computers and has WLM an import function?

A:Export mail and contacts from Outlook 2007 to Windows live mail 2012?

Don I might be way off track here mate but was the Outlook account the same email address as you have set up in WLM?

Just a thought you might try adding an account to WLM using the old address and password. I did this with my old account from my service provider then went to a Hotmail account.
Now admittedly it was still within WLM but worth a try.

What I will do is try and add my work account (Outlook) to my WLM and see if it works.

PS It added the account but I have to get the POP and STMP settings right first.
