Preferred Solution: Blue screen of death appears out of nowhere due to app error please help

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi Bleeping Computer,

Recently, Blue Screens of Death have appeared often when I'm trying to shut down the computer, or else it occurs randomly while I'm using the computer.
The most frequent message that appears is : IRQL_NOT_LESS_OR_EQUAL

Also, I've had a month-long problem of links being redirected on search engines as well. For this problem, I've already tried to solve it with a A squared scan, a MalwareBytes scan, a Adaware Scan, and an AntiVir (the one with the umbrella) scan , but none of them seemed to fix the problem. What I should I DO??

Thanks in advance,

Hi Guys,
I have just spent hours and hours trying to find info and solution for my problem but I have had no luck whatsoever. I hope someone here can help me.

Ok this is the situation.
I have got a HP Laptop that is about a year a half old, its top of the range. I had my laptop in Hibernate mode the other night and the next afternoon I went to turn it back on there was a blank screen for a long time, all the lights on the laptop were on but nothing on the screen. I turned the laptop off and then back on again. and BOOM! The blue screen of death!
The computer starts up with the HP logo and then it pops up a screen saying that a previous attempt to start up had failed and it gave me options to start up in safe mode, safe mode with networking, safe mode with command prompt, start with the previous successfull start config, and normal start up. When i click ANY of these the windows logo pops up for about 3 seconds and then the blue screen, which appears for long enough for me to read 3 letters or numbers at a time. Then the computer restarts and we go through the whole process again.
This is what I have done in the hope of fixing it.
#I used my HP retore disks and it loaded disk 1 of 3 and it didnt ask for the other 2 disks which i thought was odd. But that made no differeance still the same start up process as explained above.
#The blue screen made mention of chkdsk and i read about some poeple on the net doing a chkdsk and it fixing similar problems. So i read that i needed a... Read more

But when I press enter, the blue screen of death appears, and the problem is not fixed.

Hey everyone,

I have a ASUS windows 8 system (64-bit) I bought slightly more than a year ago. After 6 months, I got the Kernel_Data_Inpage_Error blue screen (like this image: ) once in 10 days or so. I neglected to address the problem then. Totally regret it! Its frequency slowly started increasing and today I got it almost once every hour.

It does not happen at start-up like I read in some forums but while I am randomly working. The error message appears and the system automatically restarts. I have a major presentation for school coming up in a couple of weeks and would like to fix this at the soonest.

I ran disk check on my C drive and it said there were some problems and I went ahead and requested a repair. Once its complete and I ran the disk check again it still says there are errors and I initiated the repair again. Not sure if its fixed this time. D drive had no problems. I also ran the memory diagnostics tool - no memory errors were found.

I really really appreciate any help I can get! Thank You in advance

When I log off, restart or shut down I get BSOD error.

Stop: c000021a {Fatal System Error}
The windows logon process terminated unexpectantly with a status of 0x0000005 (0x00000000 0x00000000) The system has been shut down.

When I turn my machine back on I get the MS Error reporting thing and when I click for details I get

Error Signature
szAppName: winlogon.exe
szModName: cwplc001.dll
offset: 00028628

I am running xp home with sp3.

I have recently installed new Kingston RAM. When the error started I put my old RAM back in and the problem persists.

I have updated drivers, reinstalled sp3, virus scanned with bitdefender.

I do not have the goback program installed.

While I have searched this error I have not found anythng that looks like the proper fix.

Thanks in advance for any help.

One thing you can do is to test the memory for any errors. I recommend using "memtest86," a very good memory diagnostics program. See if the program detects any errors.

Hi all,
bsodman here. New to the forum and nice to be here. As my username suggests I have a problem with the dreaded BSOD. Recently re-formatted my computer and did all the usual installations. It uses Windows XP 2002. Service pack 3 home edition, AMD 64 x 2 dual processor 3800 + 2.01 GHz, 1GB ram. I was surfing the internet when i got the bsod with the following error code. Only had this happen once before since the re-format.

STOP: 0x0000009C (0x00000004,0x8054E5F0,0xB2000000,0x00070F0F)

I should mention that the reason I re-formatted the computer was because I had the BSOD happen literally hundreds of times until the computer became unusable. Any help would be appreciated.

regards bsodman

Recently I've been getting a lot of write failures messages including the $Mft. Last week computer locked up, during restart I get the BSD, even in safe mode. Went out and replaced the hard drive, my question is can I still use the old drive as a slave for additional storage or should I copy everything off and get rid of it? Will running it as a slave damage my new HD? Thanks.

A:Blue Screen of Death (C:\$Mft error)

You could still use your old HD as a slave drive, but check it's SMART status using the manufacturer's utility. If it has failed it's SMART status, then it is likely it won't last too long. You might also wanna try booting off the XP cd and running "chkdsk" from recovory console.

My problem is, I've updated ALL of my drivers to the latest versions, I've tried rolling back drivers in all sorts of combinations, even the patch they released hasn't helped at all. Any help here would be greatly appreciated, as it's too late for me to return the game, and I don't want to have wasted my money.

Hi, I'm hoping the hard drive of my Dell Desktop 9200 (Windows XP) is not cooked for good. Everything had been running fine and dandy. I ran CCleaner on Friday and fixed some registry errors as part of it. I made sure to back up the registry before doing so.

Saturday night I got the BSOD, but with no error message (see attached for image and details). My immediate thought was the registry was hosed so I merged the registry backup file back into registry. Things were cooking until Sunday when the BSOD started appearing again.

I ran a chkdsk /r and proceeded, but the BSOD returned with the message

Unmountable_Boot_Volume (see attached for image and details).

I've read there's a possible fix for this, but lucky me I don't have a Windows XP boot CD and have not found solid info on creating one. I'm working right now on a Dell Latitude D600 which is also running Windows XP. Can a boot CD be created from it to run on the desktop?

So many errors and so little time. Any help would be great appreciated.

Today, when I booted up my laptop and logged in all seemed peaceful and normal. It does it's normal start up processes and all seems fine. Then all the sudden a blue screen pops up saying windows has encountered an error and has shut down your computer to not cause harm (or something like that). So I tried 3 or 4 more times and then It kept happening so I booted into safe mode. Well it was loading up its drivers fine and then all the sudden my computer just turns off. So I have no idea if this is malware, a registry error, or something of the like, but I really need to fix this, and any help is appreciated... Thank you.

Oh, and I'm not sure if this is the correct section for this kind of thread, so I apologize.

P.S. I'm writing this on a different computer because I don't have time too without my other one shutting off.

Someone help!
My computer just crashed yesterday evening while I was visiting various internet sites like video streaming, and you tube. Then when I started surfing onto a manga site to read online manga, page froze, then my computer suddenly start sending me virus/trojan alerts, telling me my firewall is not on, etc and then a legit-looking Microsoft Security notice telling me to "register now" to fix problem. The little pop-up official-looking MS security firewall screen refuses to close, and I believed it was probably a spyware wanting me to buy their product. I ran system check and noticed some new programs seems started as of yesterday (4-10-10 around 16:40)
These program names are:
removalfile.bat and aax2jNyu4r5m2 in C:\ Docment&Settings\admin
Thumbs.db in C:\ programfiles\commonfiles
nmdfgds0.dll, logonui.exe.manifest, cdplayer.exe.manifest in C: windows\system32

pagefile.sys and hiberfil.sys in C:\ (both said "file in use")
ave.exe (no info on this given)

I "killed" this processes and then restarted my computer. Then that's when problem started!
Now I'm in endless "boot-loop" hell, computer trying over and over to boot, telling me it encountered problems. I searched for info through internet (using another comp) and finally able to stop the loop and get blue screen up and it says:... Read more

Good morning Computer Gods! I have returned, but NOT with a virus! I am experiencing technical difficulties with my Dell Laptop.

Yesterday while multi tasking (read: over working the machine), my computer was performing quite slowly, so I decided to give it a fresh go and restarted. On boot up, it went to Blue Screen of Death with the following error: UNMOUNTABLE_BOOT_VOLUME. I do recall while trying to transfer photos to the machine, I was getting "insufficient parameter errors" and the files would not copy over. This is when I began to close programs/files/folders and was planning for a restart.

When attempting to restart, I am given the option to Safe start (w or w/o networking), Last Known or Normally. I've tried to restart using each method, every result ending with the Blue Screen of Death.

I don't know what to do!

Thank you so much in advance for your assistance,

HD may be dead or dying. Boot to your XP CD (make sure the cd drive is the first device in the bios boot order) and choose the FIRST repair option. Once you get to the recovery console run chkdsk /rafter check disk completes, enter both of these commands:fixbootfixmbr(Press ENTER after each command). Then reboot. If the problem persists, open the case and check the cables to and from the hd. If you still can't boot, the hd may be shot.

Its been occuring for sometime now (about 6 months? realli annoying me), but i still haven't been able to fix the problem. the problem is that whenever my computer is either playing music/videos or running bittorrent programs it tends to crash very frequently(sometimes if im lucky it doesn't crash), but it doesn't ever crash when im playing a game or on desktop..... i don't kno whats making it do that. at first the comp just restarted suddenly wid out any notice, then i checked some forums and they told me to turn off the option of a restart when an error occurs to see what is causing the problem, so now instead of it restarting i got a blue screen which comes up with the error

***STOP 0x0000007F (0x0000000D, 0x00000000, 0x00000000, 0x00000000)

My laptop is a Dell Studio 15, bought about 4 months ago.
Specs: 4GB DDR2 Ram, 320GB HDD, 2.1 GHz T8100 Core 2 Duo, 64-bit Vista Home Premium.

Every once in a while I seem to get a blue-screen. I've gotten it like 6 times so far. After the last one it seemed to completely reset my computer (My Documents, my desktop, etc.) and said "Error loading user profile." However, after restarting the computer everything went back to normal.

Every time I get a blue screen it says something like "page error in non-pagable area."

I have no idea what is causing this. It happens when I'm using wireless internet and when I'm not, so that couldn't be the problem. Any help on understanding/fixing this problem would be greatly appreciated!

Thank you!

Hello all,

I am in need of help solving random crashes on my windows 7 machine. I have searched these forums multiple times before registering and have yet to find an answer. I'm hoping that someone reading my dump files would help a great deal. This has been going on for about 7 months or so.

Error messages:

I have gotten blue screens saying:

Page Fault in non-paged area
IQRL is not less or equal
Memory Management
Bad Pool Header

There are more, but that seems to be the most common. Sometimes, there is no message at all. I also experience crashes with desktop windows manager, and executables that I might be running at the time (itunes, hearts, firefox, flash, etc).

Attached are my most recent dump files. I have more but it was over the file size for attachments.

I have an HP notebook ze4904us and the other day I ended up getting the blue screen of death and like other times I tried to load in safe mode, and last known configurations nothing worked. So I decided to use recovery cd and it would not let me repair nor reinstall. It starts the setup part but comes up with bad_pool_header blue screen error and it will restart and not allow me chance to reinstall. It is really frustrating since I will need it for classes shortly. Please anyone help, I do not have money to put into a new one. Please give me something I can do to get it to work..

OK, my OS is Windows 7 64 bit and my laptop is nearly 4 years old. Lately, I am getting the blue screen of death. This is the message:

"Collecting data for crash dump. Physical memory dump failed with status 0XC0000010". What does this mean? I restated the laptop a couple of times and now the error appears to have gone. I have no idea what caused this error or if the error will appear again. For good measure, I updated my graphics driver and so far the error did not appear.

But what is the cause of this? I did a virus scan and found no virus. I also used spyhunter to remove spyware from my laptop. Please advise. Thanks! My antivirus software is Avast! by the way.

So, I keep getting a message like:
"A Problem has occurred with ialmdev5.dll. This could be caused by new software you have installed."

I updated to service pack 3(I know, a bit late). Reinstalled graphics drivers, and tried to download the Intel driver for my chipset, but it did not work. Gave me the error:
"The driver being installed is not validated for this computer. Please obtain the appropriate driver from the computer's manufacturer."

Blarg! I dunno what to do next. This only happens when I try to play the game Star Wars Galaxies, and I am usally able to play for maybe five min before the error shows up, I'd really like to play the game after the freaking five hour download I had to wait for it. I have an Alienware built pc thats about 2 years old.

2 GB of RAM

When I'm playing World of Warcraft occasionally (a few times per session usually), the game freezes up for 10-15 seconds. Sometimes it'll release and I'm able to play just fine with no problem. Other times it'll create some weird graphic bug in-game and I have to restart the game itself to clear it up. Once a day or so lately I've also had a new problem arise when playing. Sometimes the game will freeze and boot me out to the blue screen of death. This is what it tells me there....

problem file nv4_disp
device driver stuck in an infinite loop.

I figured it must be a driver issue because I hadnt updated it in a few months. I dont know alot about this stuff but that was my guess. I went to the NVIDIA site and downloaded the latest version for my vid card. I uninstalled my old driver, rebooted, did not allow the windows wizard to install anything, and then installed the new driver (version

This hasnt stopped the problem from happening at all. I have my pc in a well ventilated area and it has sufficient cooling. Also I havent toyed with any overclocking (seen that asked in a different freezing thread).

A:Blue Screen Of Death (STOP error)

Your IDE Controller and CPUZ both have problems in the perfmon report
Please uninstall CPUZ and download/install chipset drivers for your motherboard (to fix the IDE controller issue)

For the Chipset driver:
- go to this link: http://support.asus.com/download/dow...odel=M4A785T-M
- select your OS
- download/install the driver listed under the Chipset section.

MSINFO32 lists a lot of Video errors (STOP 0x117 predominantly).
Please follow the steps in this link to troubleshoot it (STOP 0x116 and 0x117 are very similar, so troubleshooting is the same): STOP 0x116: VIDEO_TDR_ERROR troubleshooting

Alcohol 120% contains a driver (sptd.sys) that causes many BSOD's in Windows 7 (FYI - Daemon Tools uses the same driver). Please uninstall the program, then use this free tool to ensure that the offending sptd.sys driver has been removed: DuplexSecure - FAQ - Remove 64 bit sptd.sys

Your chipset drivers (in particular AsIO.sys) and your networking drivers are very old (from 2007) and should be updated. One of the BSOD's refers to networking also.

Finally, here's a list of drivers present in the memory dump that should be updated:
- Create a System Restore Point prior to doing any of this. DO NOT mess with the drivers themselves - leave the Windows\System32\drivers directory alone unless we specifically direct you to it!
- Please update these drivers from the device manufacturer's website - or uninstall them from your system. Reference lin... Read more

now iv researched and found its probably an issue with my hard drive, but any fix which would work requires the original OS disk - alas my pc was a dell and is about 4 years old now. is there anyway to make a back up disk from the startup? my computer does not load windows so i cannot use sytem restore or anything like that.

I've uploaded 5 minidump files for anyone in the know to look at. (This seems to be the way the problem is diagnosed from other threads and forums I've looked at.)

The crash seems to occur most when I am using any application that might access my sound card, so iTunes, or when I'm video editing or converting audio files. For this reason I believe it is something to do with my sound card. While you are reading this I will be opening my computer up and removing the sound card to see if it makes a difference. I thought I'd post on here also just in case it was something serious I need to get sorted quickly.

Changing BSOD STOP / ERROR codes are typically the result of a hardware fault (ie: major component such as power supply or motherboard).
