I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

An SMS site recovery occurs whenever an SMS site is installed with a site code or site server name that was previously used in that SMS hierarchy. Repairing and re-synchronizing data are the core tasks of a site recovery, and are required to prevent interruption of operations and corruption of data.

Install the SMS Recovery Tools on any recovering site server before you start performing recovery tasks (you can install it at any time, but it is more convenient to install it before starting recovery).

Tool functions:
Preinst.exe: Diagnoses problems in a site, repairs a site, or stops all SMS services at a site.
ACLreset.exe: Resets access control lists used by the SMS Server Connection account.
Unenforce.exe: Turns off software metering enforcement.
System Requirements
Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000, Windows NT, Windows Server 2003

Disk Space: Approximately 3 MB available hard drive space for i386, approximately 4 MB for DEC Alpha platform systems.

Note: When upgrading a Windows NT® 4.0 domain controller running an SMS 2.0 site to Windows® 2000, the ACLreset.exe tool must be run on that computer before the site can continue normal operations. See the Microsoft Knowledge Base for more information before attempting a domain controller upgrade.

Hiya
Networked, distributed computing environments require continuous maintenance, including the application of patches and fixes. The need to apply patches is not necessarily the result of flaws or deficiencies in operating systems or applications. Patches may be required to maintain a viable IT environment in the face of software updates, to block opportunities to exploit extended technologies, or to neutralize emerging security threats. These factors exist in all development and production environments. The critical question facing IT managers is how well their organizations will manage the inevitable patch management process.
This solution accelerator is designed to help consultants, partner organizations, and internal IT support staff develop a comprehensive patch management solution for their organizations

I've installed Windows XP service pack 3 on several systems but no HP or Compaq until the last few days. On one HP and one Compaq so far, I have experienced the same result: When installing SP3 from a downloaded copy, it crashes with a BSOD boot loop. This happened on several attempts so it is consistent.

Doing SP3 via the update site, however, works okay.

Thinking my copy of SP3 may have been compromised, I downloaded it again with no change in result. Then, I got out a copy of SP3 I had burned to CD and had used previously and successfully on Dell systems and tried it--same crash on HP and Compaq.

The upshot is that it seems when I do SP3 from a download, it crashes the system. When I do SP3 via the web update site, it works. At least that is the result I have gotten on one HP and one Compaq system.

Any thoughts on this? Anyone else seen this anomaly?

First I tried the standard install from windows update
got the error code (800B0100)
clicked (get help with this error hyperlink) in windows update.
downloaded the System Update Readiness Tool? fix from Microsoft
Ran it all installed OK.
Then went and tried the updates again.
Wow still the same error code.
Have disabled Avast Anti-virus, uninstalled malware programs Super anti spyware and Malwarebytes.

Tried another fix downloaded (Fix it) again from windows updates link and installed it all OK
Tried again to update and still getting the same error message

I have also read the post at the address below and as anyone can see I have had the machine protected before giving it access to the internet. I will now rebuild as that seems like the only option left according to post.

I will try and keep this post updated so that if this solves the problem then i hope its of help to others.

When will Windows 7 RTM support end?

I think after end of support date, Windows will state my PC as not genuine (even Windows was activated in earlier time), black desktop and restart every hour.

A:Windows 7 (no service pack) end of support date

Windows XP, to date, after several years of being released from the market still has updates support from Microsoft but is scheduled to be stopped any year from now. I bet that won't be the same issue with Windows 7 though as many people still uses it even when Windows 8 is officially released. I'm getting this as not just an updates support from Microsoft but rather a full support to a particular OS overall.

Hiya

This QFE applies to Microsoft® Windows® XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 only.

This is the component update to address a scenario when you build a Windows XP Embedded with Service Pack 1 runtime for a headless device and the device fails to boot properly. Since the device is headless, you have no way of knowing it is not booting. In order to boot, Windows XP Embedded requires a display driver. Headless systems have no display hardware, and therefore do not load display drivers, causing Windows XP Embedded to fail during the boot process.

This update includes a new component, called "Virtual Display Driver", which provides the display driver Windows XP Embedded requires, but does not require underlying display hardware to load and run successfully.

YOU MAY NOT PROVIDE THIS UPDATE OR THE LOCATION (URL) OF THIS UPDATE TO ANY THIRD PARTIES.

I am unable to load the above-mentioned update and get error code 0x737D. I gather it is because I need to load an update prior to the above-titled but I am unable to see how to resolve this and would be grateful for some advice in an easy to understand format (namely I am a little simple with regard to computers).

We had one machine in a 2-machine cluster get a stop error last friday. The app support people helped me to shift all services over to the other server, but then I wanted to load balance again.

They told me I would have to install SP2 and all the updates on both before we could. So I did, and we restarted.

Then once he tried to activate the other server in the cluster, the failed one would not cooperate. They kept reporting duplicate IP addresses, and thus would not work.

So we put it back the way it was, and looked at the failed one. I could not access the network connections to config the interfaces and I could not uninstall programs. I booted into safe mode, and I can see the adapters, but I still cannot roll back the SP2 or uninstall programs. When I try to uninstall SP2 in safe mode, it tells me that there is a file missing. It doesn't specify which one. When I try to re-install SP2, it tells me there is a file missing. It doesn't specify which one.

When I try to uninstall SP2 in normal windows, it just hangs at inspecting configuration. Same w/re-install. I have tried uninstalling through the command prompt also. Same thing. If I stick my thumb drive in there, it hangs at installing that.

So there is something terribly wrong with this machine. Reinstalling windows from scratch is NOT an option right now because there is Oracle software and settings on here that the vendor will charge out the a$$ to reinstall.

Any ideas of what I can try? Besides wipi... Read more

Hiya

On January 13, 2003, Microsoft released Service Pack 2 (SP2) for SharePoint Portal Server 2001. Soon afterward, continued internal testing revealed a previously undiscovered problem in the service pack. Microsoft immediately discontinued downloads of the service pack and is completing the required updates, which will be made available soon. In the meantime, Microsoft has provided this patch for customers who may have downloaded and installed this service pack.

This problem involves the way that indexing is performed. Indexing is a process initiated by content sources set up by the administrator, through which the content on the server is made searchable. This problem may, in some cases, cause the indexing process to be incomplete, therefore preventing portions of the content from being exposed to searches.

Microsoft recommends that customers who have downloaded and installed SharePoint Portal Server SP2 apply this patch, or avoid performing indexing (also known as crawling) until the corrected version of the service pack is made available. Customers who downloaded SharePoint Portal Server SP2 require either this patch or the updated SP2 to correct the problem

Supported Operating Systems: Windows 2000

A:Error Update SQL Server 2005 Service Pack 3 (KB970892)

This update also failed to install on my XP Pro SP3 machine at work. Google searches reveal that at least a few others are having this problem on both XP and Vista, but there are no solutions posted anywhere that I can find yet.

My Win 7 machines at home weren't offered this update when I ran Windows Update yesterday or today so I don't have anything to offer on that front.
