WiDi can't connect, found Wireless PAN DHCP Server can't start with error 1067

Q: WiDi can't connect, found Wireless PAN DHCP Server can't start with error 1067

I purchased a Netgear Push2TV PTV3000, and updated the firmware, downloaded the latest Intel WiDi, and tried to connect. The search for WiDi adapters found the PTV3000, so I double-clicked to install it. Add a Device ran, but could not find the PTV3000.
Searching the Web I found I needed to insure WiDiApp and Wireless PAN DHCP Server were allowed through the firewall. I found that the WiDiApp was listed in, and allowed through the firewall. I could not find any mention of Wireless PAN DHCP Server in the firewall.
I found the entry in Services, and it was listed as Manual. I set it to Automatic and tried to Start the service. I received an Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly. I am running Windows 8 on a Sony SVS15118FXB.
As a possibly associated issue, since I believe Bluetooth also uses the Wireless PAN DHCP Server, I cannot get Bluetooth to function on the same computer. Attempts to connect Sony Bluetooth speakers also fail. Maybe the same issue?
Any help would be most appreciated...

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I am running Windows XP Home SP3 on a Lenovo SL500.
The laptop suddenly stopped connecting to the internet (stuck on acquiring network address). Then suddenly sound stopped working (even though I have the correct drivers installed).
I have tried the following:
1) going to the previous working version - no luck
2) I went to services.msc and found the DHCP client won't start. When I try to force start it, it gives me error 1067. ipconfig gives an error saying "an internal error has occurred. the system cannot find the file specified". I have no idea what file this is. Also, in services.msc when I restart windows audio to get sound back, it starts and then stops again. I also noticed other services like Wireless Zero that should be running are stopped. When I turn them on, they stay on for a short while before stopping automatically.
3) I ran winsockxpfix.exe, sfc.exe /scannow - no luck
4) I did a registry clean - no luck
5) I did a repair install of Windows again and still no luck.
Does anyone have any clue what's wrong and how I can fix this? I don't want to have to format and do a fresh install if possible.
Thank You.

A:DHCP client will not start - error 1067

Try running these at a command prompt restarting after each to see if DHCP will start.  Make sure you have your XP CD handy for the second.

I'm having a issue with the wireless in the past couple of days before it has always connected in seconds. when starting up the laptop it takes 1-2 minutes to connect (blue circle loading) but the connection is not stable such as random times disconnects (turns off itself) and the signal strength is pretty weak(looking at task manager 10-15mbps). Once the wireless stabilize which is around 15 minutes it can reach back to normal speed.

I went into the event viewer and noticed the laptop has this warning message + error message

Error message: The IP address lease for the network address 0x001D0981E03A has been denied by the DHCP server DHCP server sent a DHCPNACK message).

Another message:Router Advertisement settings have been changed on the network adapter 13. The current M - Managed Address Configuration flag is false and the O - Other Stateful Configuration flag is false. User Action: If you are seeing this event frequently, then it could be due to frequent change in M and O flag settings on the router in the network. Please contact your network administrator to have it resolved.

I have recently installed Windows 7 on my new computer. My sound drivers are all up to date, and the Device Manager knows they are there and working. However, the Volume Adjuster has the speaker with the red and white cross, and when the audio troubleshooter pops up, it does nothing to fix the problem, just acknowledges that there is one...

So, I looked up solutions, and was told to enable the Windows Audio service. I tried, and got a 1067 Error (Unexpectedly terminated). I have started, and successfully run, all of the dependencies, yet Windows Audio still won't run. I ran the 'sfc /scannow' as I was told that might work, but no luck. I also uninstalled and reinstalled my audio driver numerous amounts of times, still no luck. I'm running out of options, so I came here.

Please, any help would be appreciated.

Hello! This is my first time asking for help; thank you for your time.

I have an Asus N550JV laptop with windows 8. It has been working great the last year, but after a recent windows update, my audio completely stopped working. After running the troubleshooter, it stated the following:

One or more audio service isn't running
Not fixed

Both the Windows Audio and the Windows Audio End Point Builder services must be running for audio to work correctly. Atleast one of these services isn't running.

After doing some research, I was able to view the local services running on my laptop. I found that Windows Audio Endpoint Builder is running, but Windows Audio is not. When trying to start Windows Audio, I got the following messgae:

Windows could not start the Windows Audio service on Local Computer.
Error 1067: The process terminated unexpectedly.

How do I get my audio back? I have Online Lectures I need to watch for school, so any help would be great! Thank you for your time

Do you have a System Restore point that is BEFORE the last update?

Sadly, you may have to do a reinstall or if you have a backup a restore from the backup. My Windows 8.1 was corrupted by the last update (my suspicion). Fortunately I had a recent full backup and restored from the backup.

Hello everyone!

I'm new to this site and I've searched for a topic related to my problem, but couldn't find anything.

I had Norton Internet Security 2005 installed on my computer, but when I added a new hardware item to it, I had to uninstall NIS and re-install it because it wouldn't work. After rebooting, I couldn't establish an intranet connection that did work on the comp before. I managed to find out that there is no default gateway on the LAN, because "no DHCP server was found". To be honest, I don't even know what this exactly means, but anyway. Here's what I tried so far, and didn't work:

1. Restore the default winsock settings, with the netsh winsock reset catalog command and with downloaded winsockfix programs too.

2. Try to renew the IP-address by right-clicking on the LAN settings.

3. Reset TCP/IP stack to installation defaults, with the netsh int ip reset reset.log command.

I've got Windows XP Sp2 and a D-Link DSL-360T modem/router, with ethernet.

I would appreciate any help, but please write it in an "advice for dummies" way, I'm quite a newbie with technical issues. Thanks in advance for your help!

WLAN AutoConfig service gives error 1067 when trying to start it.

What I've tried:

Reset winsock settings
Ran SFC /scannow
Did system restore
Uninstalled and reinstalled drivers

I tried all of these in normal mode AND in safe mode. None of it worked.

Then i thought the service dll (C:\Windows\system32\wlansvc.dll) itself might have been damaged/outdated, so I decided to delete it and put a new one from donor pc. NOPE.
It wouldn't give me access to the file. No matter what i tried, safe mode, unlocker tools, auto rename it on startup, doing everything in administrator or even messing with permissions under file properties. It just wouldn't give me access to the file.

Wi-Fi was working smoothly few days ago and i literally have no idea why it stopped working.

Any idea how to fix it? Thanks in advance

I have an HP S5000 series desktop computer. I bought it in 2011.

I recently bought Kaspersky Internet Security since I knew I had a virus or something. I installed it successfully. I then performed a disk clean up. I restarted my computer to find I could no longer connect to the Internet. There is no connection found. When I try to troubleshoot, it says,

"The Realtek PCIe FE Family Controller adapter is experiencing driver- or hardware-related problems."

I contacted Kaspersky and they walked me through some steps that did not solve the issue. I contacted HP and I would have to pay on a warranty before being able to get help on my problem.

If anyone knows how to solve this, please help!! It will be greatly appreciated!!

A:Windows 7- No Server Found/Realtek error msg/Can't connect to Internet/

I'd start by uninstalling Kaspersky and run the following repairs. You can reinstall Kaspersky after getting a successful connection.

TCP/IP stack repair options for use with Vista through 10.

Start - All Programs - Accessories and right click on Command Prompt, select "Run as Administrator" to open a command prompt. [For Windows 8 thru 10: <Windows Logo> + x - Command Prompt(Admin)]

Reset WINSOCK entries to installation defaults: netsh winsock reset catalog

Reset IPv4 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv4 reset reset.log

Reset IPv6 TCP/IP stack to installation defaults. netsh int ipv6 reset reset.log

Reboot the machine after all three commands; no need to boot after the 1st and 2nd.

I just got Cox cable and it hasn't been working right.

I have a netgear WG602 wireless access point. I can connect to it but it has limited or no connectivity. Repairing the connection doesn't work and doesn't give me an IP.

I connected the ethernet cable directly to my laptop and it didn't work at all. I called them and it worked by directly connecting, but the wireless still didn't work.

Then I messed with wireless settings to try to connect, and I finally got online but my ip is 70.x.x.x, the apparent IP for all Cox subscribers.

But I got that 70.x.x.x through my router instead of a 192.x.x.x so I have no idea why it's doing that. It's really weird and I still can't get a dynamic IP.

Thanks for the help.

BTW, other pc's at home are connected to the router, so the router is OK.

Check the setting on your Router which served as your DHCP as well. Make sure that the Router provides enough IP addresses for your home network.

Nothing really comes to mind, but if you're using Window's Wireless Zero Configuration maybe you need to reconfigure your wireless connection; especially if your network is protected with encryption.

I use the utilities from my wireless cards' manufacturers to connect to my WPA protectecd network and had no trouble today after the same reboot (two notebooks). Well, same reboot if you're talking about the critical update released yesterday.

Hi Guys,

I have been experiencing some irritating problems with my internet and creating a hosted network for my mobile devices. creating a hosted network was easy and has worked for quite some time until this weekend. Doing some quick google searches almost all the results said I should release then renew my ipconfig, and this is where all the real problems started. It won't renew and from there my problems keep coming.

My connection is provided by my university so there is no way for me to quickly reset the modem.

So I'm having an issue with my Ethernet connection. Here is the issue(s), and the steps I have already taken.

1 - I am connected to ethernet but have no internet access.

2 - Ran Diagnostics getting the error "Ethernet doesn't have a valid IP configuration"

3 - Went into admin CMD and typed ipconfig /release. Then ipconfig /renew.

4 - Received the error "Unable to connect to your DHCP Server. Request has timed out."

5 - DHCP service is running and automatic.

I have had a network for almost two years with no problems, and for some reason my laptop has not been able to get online for about a week. It did this once before last year sometime, and I phoned Bellsouth; they said to shut down all the computers and then restart them, and that fixed the problem. It did not help this time.
I have tried everything I can think of.

My laptop is a Sony Viao with Windows 2000. I am using a Linksys router and wireless card with my Bellsouth Westell DSL modem. Someone else set up the network for me, but I don't have contact with that person any more to help me. I will probably phone Bellsouth again, but thought I'd try this, too. I tried Linksys' live chat but they kept getting disconnected.

When I type in ipconfig /release it says it's already released. When I type in ipconfig /renew it hangs a long time and then tells me that the DHCP server is unreachable.

I have three computers. One is this Dell I am currently typing on, with XP, and it is connected directly (wired) and works fine. Sometimes the connection goes out and I have to unplug the modem and plug it in again and then it works fine. That has always been true, though.

I have another Dell, an old one with Windows 98, and it is wireless. We don't use that one very much because it's slow, but it has a wireless connection and sometimes it can't get online, either. It has troubles but sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't. That's been for ab... Read more

I have had wireless set up and working on my home system for more than a year. My laptop is configured to automatically switch between wired and wireless mode depending on whether I'm connected to an ethernet cable or not. I use comcast as my ISP, and have a netgear router. On Thursday (last week), I was working away connected wireless, when my network connection dropped. Tried to reconnect, and got the following message:

The DHCP server on this network failed to respond to the request your system made for automatic IP Address configuration.

I've tried everything I can think of to resolve this:
1. turned off and on the Comcast modem, disconnected the ethernet cable
2. reset the Netgear router
3. ran the /ipconfig release, renew, flush commands
4. unplugged everything from each other, (comcast, netgear), waited 30 seconds, re-connected everything

Nothing works. I'm currently connected via ethernet cable, so I know the connection is good, and this was after I flushed all the IP config information, so I know comcast served up a new IP via DHCP. It seems very strange to me that this happened out of the blue, while I was actually connected via wireless.. Any suggestions?

It's take time to connect wireless thru ADSL DHCP... you need to release and renew.. the IPCONFIG

is there any way to connect immediately?

A:Solved: HELP: It's take time to connect wireless thru DHCP

With absolutely no information about the environment, it's really hard to answer.
Please supply the following info, exact make and models of the equipment please.

Name of your ISP (Internet Service Provider).
Make and exact model of the broadband modem.
Make and exact model and hardware version of the router (if a separate unit).
Model numbers can usually be obtained from the label on the device.
Connection type, wired or wireless.
If wireless, encryption used, (none, WEP, WPA, or WPA2)
Version and patch level of Windows on all affected machines, i.e. XP (Home or Pro), SP1-SP2-SP3, Vista (Home, Business, Ultimate), etc.
The Internet Browser in use, IE, Firefox, Opera, etc.

Please give an exact description of your problem symptoms, including the exact text of any error messages.

If you're using a wireless connection, have you tried a direct connection with a cable to see if that changes the symptoms?
For wireless issues, have you disabled all encryption on the router to see if you can connect that way?
Have you connected directly to the broadband modem to see if this is a router or modem/ISP issue?
If there are other computers on the same network, are they experiencing the same issue, or do they function normally?

On any affected computer, I'd also like to see this:

Hold the Windows key and press R, then type CMD (COMMAND for W98/WME) to open a command prompt:

Type the following commands on separate lines, following each one with the Enter ke... Read more

I don't know much about computers, but I am having lots of problems with my wireless internet connection. It was working fine up until a few weeks ago where the internet would connect and then disconnect and the usual error message would come up. I'm not sure what techinal mumbo jumbo info you need, but I do know that you at least need that I have windows XP Service pack 3

The system restore is simple. I start it up, it runs, I log back in, and then I get a message without any error codes that it could not be compleated, and that no changes were made. When checking what is affected (since, when attempting a system restore, I get a message that says "Changes made to drive(s) E: after this point cannot be reversed because the drive was either excluded from System Restore monitoring, or was turned off or removed"

In any of the lists I find, it seems system restore only affects C: anyways.

I have a feeling that if I turn the restore points off then on, therefore reseting them, or create custome restore points, it would be fine, but I also have a feeling that a good system restore would fix my other, more complex problem. And if I can do a system restore in the end and fix this, I need those old restore points.

(Also, I have attempted system restore from various points from both normal and safe mode, and at no point was there a change in what happened.)

When going through run to the event veiwer to check system restore errors, there was one for each attempt at a system restore, all with the Source: SRService, Event ID: 111, and the message in the description :

"A restoration to "Software Distribution Service 3.0" restore point failed. No changes made to system.

Before continuing, this is a thread that I currently have going, if you want extra details on what's been going on. I'll try to explain it quickly here:

My laptop won't connect to wireless Internet. Doesn't matter where I am, so it's not a router problem.
I've tried many things (can be seen on the other thread), and still can't get wireless Internet connection.

Before I go any further, I'm not great with computers, so any instructions, please, eaassyyy!

Now the weird thing is, when I'm in Safe Mode with networking, Internet seems to be working fine!
As you can see in the title, my Ping test is showing something is wrong.

I have no idea what to do here. I've been going through forums, tried the following:

- Changing wireless channel
- TCP/IP stack repair options
- Calling Dell (what a joke that was...)
- ran an ipconfig /all (see on the other thread through my forum link)
- removed Mcafee (using Windows Essentials), and when I did that, Internet worked for 5-10mins then crashed again.
- checked the Mac filtering settings on my router settings

Also, my computer crashed the other day (got a blue screen, shut itself down). I posted the details in the thread.

Finally, my great friend the moderator Etaf asked me to post this to see if I have a problem that this forum could help me with ... I read the 1st post, here is the mentioned information (I couldn't do #3 because I run on 64-bit):

Hijiack This (when I ran i... Read more

Hey all!
I am really desperate. I've tried a few things that other people have posted here, especially Cookiegal and Lumpola but this issue persists.

I had a virus. I think I got rid of it. Avast scans and boot time scans and Super Anti Spyware and TDSS killer report all clear. However, the network shield of Avast and the Internet don't work.
Points to note:
1. In services, the DHCP and DNS cannot be started. I get the error 1075: service has been marked for deletion or one of it's dependancies are missing. (close to that)

I've checked the dependancies of both, and reinstated the ADF module in device manager after selecting the 'View Hidden' option.

A:DHCP Server Service -Error 1075 - not starting

2. I've tried deleting the winsock and winsock2 entries in the registry.
3. From the command prompt, SFC/scan now terminates at 82%. thrice.
4. I can see the network, both wired and wireless, I can connect, but it says I have limited connectivity.

I'm running a simple network at home with a Linksys BEFSR41 router. I have two computers hooked up wired and a wireless router acting like an access point that I use for my laptop occasionally. Until this weekend I've been having no problems but I shut down the computers due to weather and now one of them is not able to communicate with any others on the network. The problem computer will get an address supplied to it by the router (DHCP server) but once it has it I cannot get any other connectivity. Of course this is hindering internet access on this computer. I can ping the loopback and assigned IP addresses w/o problems but when I ping the default gateway (router) and/or the other computer I get "Request timed out." I initially thought it was the NIC so I bought another one but still get the same issue. I've moved the cards to different PCI slots but no luck. I tested the cable running from the computer and the router but found no problems. I even tried resetting the TCP/IP stack but still didn't work. The computer in question is running WinXP SP2 with the original NIC being a Linksys LNE100TX and the new one being a D-Link DFE-530TX+.

Any clues on this? If more info is needed let me know--it's been a while since I've posted. Thanks in advance.

Hey all,

I have a simple network at home using winxp pro on both comps. I wish to use simple file sharing but am unable to do so. I have automatically configured IP addresses for both comps, and am able to ping using these ip addresses but cannot ping by comp name. both comps have addresses starting with 169.254.x.x indicating that the dhcp cannot issue a proper address, however when trying to release and/or renew the computer says that it has timed out before the request can be completed.

I have tried uninstalling the devices, rebooting and then reinstalling but the wizard falls short at the end claiming an error has occured.

The error according to admin tools is in the system section saying-

The device, \Device\Scsi\viamraid1, did not respond within the timeout period.

look forward to some responses! ...please!!!

Trying to create and deploy a Windows 7 pro image for Dell optiplex 390s. Getting the dreaded error above when trying to connect to the DHCP. After a couple days of research I've tried injecting drivers, different version of drivers, injecting drivers into
a different boot image, changing the name and/or deleting the setup.exe file from the image, verified that spanning-tree portfast was enabled on the switch, and edited \windows\system32\startnet.cmd. Everything i've tried results in the error still showing.
When running ipconfig it looks like the NIC is not even initializing which leads me to believe it's a driver issue still. I'm out of ideas on this one. Anyone else have any?

A:WdsClient: An error occurred while obtaining an IP address from the DHCP server

Yes, I agree that this seems to be a driver issue.
Please follow the steps below to find the correct NIC driver for the problematic clients and create a new boot image, then add the NIC drivers to the new boot image for a test.
Error message when you start a PXE client to connect to a WDS server on a Windows Server 2003 SP1-based computer or on a Windows Server 2008-based computer: "WdsClient: An error occurred while starting networking"
