I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: How can I get sound output from sound card when streaming video?

Hello green,

You get sound from your microphone? I don't think I am understanding. Sound should come from your sound card. You plug the speakers into the back of the computer and into the sound card (green jack). The mic receives sound. My mic is USB so it doesn't use any jack other than the USB port, but if you use the sound card, it goes into the purple jack

Do you have the audio driver installed? This should be right: http://support.acer.com/product/defa...x?modelId=2192

Recently my desktop decided it wasn't going to co-operate anymore. After a lot of googling and many patience lost I decided I would throw in the towl and ask for help lol.
I have no sound whatsoever, not from mp3s and not from streaming. Streaming video chops every half a second, but I can play downloaded avi video, still with no sound.
I ran malware bytes, no infections. and nothing from avg.
I tried system restore, both times it failed for some reason, at 2 different restore points.
my video card is working and so is my sound card.
im a do it yourself type person but this one has me beat, any help would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

A:Suddenly, no windows sound and no streaming video/sound.

I have the same problem.  Yesterday morning I booted up and all of a sudden there is no sound.  And Windows media player will not work ... no video or audio.  I have checked all cables and connections...plugged in different speakers and checked for system sounds which don't work as well.  I get video  from movies and videos with GOM player and internet videos but no sound.
About concluded that motherboard may be cause, but really don't want to install a new one.
Does anyone have a better idea?

It's the most suspicious sound I've ever heard. It sounds exactly like fat, felt tip marker making a quick check on paper. It can also be compared to a rat sniff or a piece of paper being turned. I wear headphones and can hear this noise occasionally for up to 15 minutes. It likes to happen at night, when 'they' are active ( humor me ). Because of the sneaky, low volume, discreet, low down, creepy, stalky, shifty sound I am disposed to imagine that someone is looking through my files for credit information and they are unaware of these sounds from my sound card, or they don't care about the sound because they are safe from being caught.

Sound like I'm crazy? Just paranoid. I did say it makes me imagine. The kind of person I am is the same kind that will run system restore at a moment's notice for anything that looks suspicious or a NoScript violation. Because that sound is clearly designed to resemble a sniffing rat doing something sneaky on my computer. I tried to record the output with Audacity 1.3, but it had stopped before I had recorded anything.

My setup:

Windows XP Pro 64 bit Service Pack 2
Verizon High Speed Internet
Marvell Yukon 88E8056 PCI-E Gigabit Ethernet Controller
LinkSys Router routing to a Windows 7 laptop, WPK-PSK, TKIP
Soundblaster Live!
Mozilla FireFox

A:Solved: Suspicious sound coming from sound card output.

It was that Windows XP search dog. When you ctrl + f to open the search side bar in a window there is an animated dog that seems innocuous. Every 15 minutes or so it will scratch itself and make that noise twice. As long as that search side bar is open, minimized or not, that noise will persist.

Been having major issues playing GTA IV.

First, the sound kept getting cut during gaming. When I exited the game, there was no sound in Windows either. I had to reboot to get sound but after a couple of minutes, the sound cut off again and I wasn't even gaming then. Video playback became really laggy (YouTube played videos as if in slow motion) and there was no sound.

I had to reboot the PC several times. Unisntalled sound card (through Device Manager) and then reinstalled it as well as the latest drivers. Still had same issue when I tried playing GTA IV.

Today, I got consecutive BSODs while playing GTA IV. I've had several issues with GTA IV like missing textures, no sound, freezing (at loading screens), CTD (crash to desktop) etc. Tried reinstalling the game several times from scratch and even tried different hard drive but none of them work(ed).

I'm playing GTA IV heavily modded (Gionight ENB mod with several custom cars/weapons etc.) but my computer is a beast and it should be able to handle it easily.

My specs:

CPU: i7 990X
Mainboard: Asus P6T7 WS Supercomputer
Memory: 12GB Corsair Domintar 1600MHz
Hard Drive: 32GB SLC SSD x2 (RAID-0)
Video: EVGA GTX-580 3GB Tri-SLI
Sound: Creative SoundBlaster X-Fi Titanium HD
Power Supply: PC Power & Cooling 1200W
OS: Windows 7 Ultimate x64 SP1

The first BSOD was STOP code 0x124 and that was with stock clocks for the GPU. The second BSOD was STOP code 0x1000007e and that was with GPUs OC'd to 850MHz.

Hello to everyone.

Currently I am trying to use WMP 12 to stream video files from my PC to my PS3. On a minimal install of windows 7 x64, I have ffdshow x86 and x64, as well *** haali x86 and x64, so I am able to stream mkv video files.

The PS3 is only receiving the video from the mkv files, the audio is not being streamed. I have tried streaming avi files, and both video and audio do stream. As well, the mkv files play with video and audio on the pc without any additional codecs.

Looking for any help on this issue, as I am stumped beyond belief. Thanks in advanced to all

In the last few weeks I'm having problems with hearing the sound of streaming videos (such as youtube).

I have already tried uninstalling/reinstalling flash, this helped for some time and then the problem returned again. Trying to reinstall again did not solve the problem.

The problem is in both IE and firefox (windows 7 64 bit)

Does anyone have any idea

Hey, after a leap of faith I finally made the shift to vista. But for some reason, I have sound when I play a local video/music file, but a video, on say youtube/stage 6, will have no sound output. The same problem is happening on both firefox and opera, and both of them have played both sound and video at one point or another.
I have tried:
1) Reinstalled sound card driver, then found and updated version and tried that as well.
2) Reinstalled flash on more than one occasion.
3) Tried the old fix with CCleaner's Adobe Flash scan.

I'm about to buy a Windows 8.1 touchscreen laptop to control a digital mixer from the Front-of-House position. I often find it useful as a FOH engineer to use a "talkback" mic to communicate with the people on stage and to use the PFL/Solo function to figure out exactly who it is that's being annoying or wonderful so I can adjust them accordingly.

For this particular application, I'll have a USB sound card connected to the mixer's Aux input and Headphone output and made available to the laptop via VirtualHere or similar USB sharing software. So my question is:

How can I stream my TB mic to the remote sound card's line-out, and likewise the remote line-in to my headphones?
I don't need any processing, just a raw, continuous stream in both directions with preferably low latency.

Hi guys,

Not sure if this is the place to post this issue but here goes:

When i try to watch videos (streaming from websites) the video and sound are in sync with each other. However after about 15 minutes in, they start to get out of sync and it gets progressively worse as time goes on. (The sound comes through about 2-3 seconds before the video). Is there anything i can do about this problem? i'm fairly sure my laptop is up to the challenge as it is a brand new Dell Inspiron with dual-core processor running Vista.

Any Suggestions would be appreciated.

Going by the DevID in that screen shot it is the Dell version of the Live 5.1, which doesn't work with the regular Live drivers. For that card (at least on XP) you need the one here,

Do you have two separate jacks labeled center and subwoofer or a single jack labeled "center/subwoofer?

If it is a single jack, it probably has two outputs, one for the front center audio and the other for the subwoofer audio.

So here's my problem

When I watch YouTube videos I get random stutters where the sound skips. The image doesn't seem to freeze though, just the sound

I also get issues with the sound streaming music online, where it pauses for a second and stutters even though it's not buffering.

When this happens, NT Kernel & System shoots up in task manager and uses more CPU than the browser. This by the way happens in every browser, IE, Chrome or Firefox.

It doesn't happen when playing music in iTunes or watching videos from my hard drive.

That being said I'm not posting about a buffering type stutter, I am aware of that and this is not it. This is like basically suddenly the computer has a big spike in memory or cpu usage and the video/sound clip stutters for a sec. But it happens often enough to be very annoying. In a 15 min YouTube clip it happened 10 times.

I have reinstalled my IDT High Definition Codec and my Intel HD Graphics 4000 driver, but still the problem persists.

Any thoughts of what I can do?

A:Sound stutters when streaming video or audio online.

Try this test: Start a Youtube video and immediately hit the pause button. Watch the movement of the red progress bar until it fully loads the video. This obviously eliminates any buffering issues if the problem is still there when you try to play the video this way. You might also want to do a speed test on you internet connection. Here are my results:

Now, I know you are convinced that it is absolutely not a buffering issue and you have done nice testing to that end; however, I would still try the tests as described above. Good luck.

I have an HP pavilion Slimline computer, (running Windows Vista) with a realtec sound card. I am trying to use the digital coax output from the realtec sound card, to connect to my Roland VS2400cd music studio recorder's coax input. The Roland studio coax requires PCM (2 channel) digital input. With the current drivers, the Realtec supported formats are DTS Audio, Dolby Digital, and Microsoft WMA Pro Audio. Because my roland recorder only accepts PCM format, I have set the realtec card options to the needed parameters, I.E. selecting Realtec digital as default, matching sample rate of 44.1K, and setting the format to "Microsoft WMA Pro Audio" (I thought WMA was a PCM format?). I still can not get any sound into my Roland recorder.

My question is: Am I doing something wrong, or are there any drivers that would make the Realtec card produce PCM digital output? And compatable with Vista!

Very frustrated..bought this computer to use in my studio.

Thanks for any help!!!!

A:Coax output from realtec sound card, (PCM?)

The only audio I know that is for sure, 100% PCM is the PCM audio codec in raw wave. All the formats you mentioned sound like they are being processed but I only work in raw wave PCM so that's the only one I know about for sure, like I already said.

Please help!!!! I have that horrible problem of" No audio output device installed" and the red x over my sound icon, which means no sound. BUT I also have another problem.

Many say to fix this problem with windows 7 by going to device manager and fixing it under the catagory of sound video and game controller. Problem is, I DONT HAVE THAT OPTION!!!!!

I have no line that says sound video and game controller at all in my device manager. THAT is the major frustrating part.I have no idea where to go now. It seems like an easy fix, but i cant even get started because i dont have the selection available. WTH??

I downloaded realtek hd for 7 already and ran it. No luck. Still red x.

All it tells me is "hardware changes may not have been detected."

Ive updated all new windows updates and went through the recent updates to see if anything could help, something I could to tell to run, but no avail.

All help is appreciated, BUT please take note that i dont have the option of fixing this problem via the sound video and game controller settings in the device manager because, again, i dont have that listing.

Also, i've considered that it may be a virus, seeing that the common option of sound video game controller in not there and the virus may be trying to protect itself by hiding it. But i ran a Malware scan and nothing came up.

Hi guys,

"DIGITAL OUT (Front and Rear SPDIF digital outputs) via 4-pole 3.5mm minijack on rear bracket"

Here's the manual:

The guy at Radioshack says to use a 3.5mm to RCA left and right speaker output. But I'm not sure that's right because how would that give front and rear sound? I want to run this to a Receiver.

Anyone know what kind of connection cable to use for that? Can you give me a link with a picture.

A:AMD HDMI output not plugged in,no sound card detected in dxdiag

The AMD HDMI is ONLY for HDMI audio and not for regular PC audio. Unless there is an HDMI cable plugged in, you will get the no cable plugged in notice.

Please post the motherboard manufacturer and model number. Without that I can't say what sound is on the PC's motherboard (for regular PC audio). But, if the PC audio is enabled in the BIOS and is Windows 7 compatible, Windows would install the generic, basic function, HD Audio Driver (Codec) and the PC sound would work. If the sound chip on the motherboard is not Windows 7 compatible (an old Win XP hardware) you will have to install a sound card to have PC audio.

The DX Diag, because the sound is not there, does not help.

My laptop's sound isn't working, and when I mouse over the speaker icon in the corner there's a red X with the message "No Audio Output Device Installed." I've looked on other forums for the solution and here's what I've tried so far:

-I've been told to disable and enable the sound device in Device Manager, but there's nothing under "Sound Video and Game Controllers"

-I've tried to reinstall the audio drivers (Realtek HD Audio and Conextant HD Audio). The Realtek driver says it installed correctly, but it still doesn't show up in device manager or anywhere else and the "No Audio Output" message still persists. The Conextant driver gives me the error message "Cannot Find Device" when trying to install it, but I've noticed something weird: I can see a Conextant HD Audio thing under "Add or Remove Programs".

-Windows Audio is running under Administrator Tools, I've checked.

-I've done a system restore back to factory settings and it still doesn't work.

My laptop is a Hp Pavilion dv6700z with Windows Vista Service Pack 1. I think a windows update might have screwed it up; I can hear a popping noise when plugging in my earbuds and I can hear the error beeps under system setup, so the speakers themselves work. Can somebody please help me out?

The problem with mine is that i dont even have that kind of tab on my device manager? how come?

I tried looking for sound programs in my computer (through search, through dxdiag, etc.) and i cant even find a sound driver. Because of this, i go to Realtek and installed the newest high definition audio codecs for 64bit windows 7 which version is R2.71 update 2013/4/8. Feeling confident that i can now install it to my device manager...i tried doing it. To no avail, i cant install it...this is the procedure that i am doing...

1. Device manager
2. Add legacy hardware
3. Next>choose Install the hardware that i manually select from a list. Next
4. Choose Sound, video and game controllers
5. choose Realtek. Next, Next
6. THEN...after installing...it will say...."An error occurred during the installation of the device. The extended attributes are inconsistent" FINISH

I really dont know what to do about this. If anyone can kindly hel... Read more

The first approach, since it worked and then the next day didn't is to use the System Restore and restore the PC back to an available restore date that is Prior to having the problem. This fixes many problems, including your problem many times.

System Restore can be accessed from Start/Programs/Accessories/System Tools. System Restore will not delete any user data or e-mails.

BTW, please fill in the "My System Specs" rather than try to list them on a post (along with much of it not needed).

I am getting a laptop. Right now I am deciding between regular "High Definition Audio 2.0" and a "ExpressCard Sound Blaster X-Fi Laptop Sound Card with Wireless Receiver Bundle". The latter is 134 dollars more. Would the latter make the output of sound better on external speakers. Say if you're a DJ, and you use the laptop, would the sound coming out of the speakers at those high volumes be much better if you have the better soundcard? Or does it not have any effect on the output sounds? Thanks!

A:Do Sound Cards Effect The Output of Sound To External Speakers?

It affects the external output even more than the one from the integrated speakers.

Help would really be appreciated.

A:No sound on start-up, Win8 needs time to output sound

For start up sound go to personalize>sounds>at bottom of box place a check for "Play Windows Startup sound. With a laptop you probably are using realtek HD sound driver... you could look in task manager and see if it is turned on at startup, also in event viewer>windows logs>system and look at the time when you booted and see if there are any audio errors.

I would like to share my experiences how to fix noisy audio output on Dell Optiplex 755 under linux. I did try changing power supply, better video card, adding separate sound card (front panel audio output doesn't work then) updating drivers and even changing the whole computer. I was first sure that the reason for the noise must be old capacitors somewhere in the system board or in the power supply. It took me months to find the solution.
The symptoms are: static noise on audio even if there should be no sound at all. The noise doesn't depend on the audio volume.
The solution: open terminal, start alsamixer. HDA Intel Analog Devices AD1984 should open. Use right cursor key to scroll the screen until Beep audio level adjust is selected. Lower the volume of Beep down. This should fix the noisy output.  I set the Beep volume to 6%.Apparently Beep sound output produces low level noise even if no beep sound is produced. If Beep volume is adjusted to high in alsamixer, this noise is amplified and added to the audio mix.

GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 3.1)

GIGABYTE - Motherboard - Socket AM3+ - GA-890GPA-UD3H (rev. 3.1)

(Note 3) Simultaneous output for DVI-D and HDMI is not supported.

What I'm trying to do is output just my sound to the receiver via HDMI cable, but still use the DVI to my monitor for video. From the note above taken from the MB specs, sounds like this is not possible.

This is new business to me and wondering how others do this, seems little information I can find. I am ordering a HDMI to DVI cable so I can disconnect the DVI cable from the computer and instead run both video and sound through HDMI to the receiver, then the video to the monitor. Hoping this works.

If all fails then I am relegated to separate digital through S/PDIF optical link, to my receiver. According to the experts this is less than ideal since now, the multi-channel dolby and DTS signals can only be received via HDMI.

Wondering if I get a Blu-ray player for my computer how this is going to all work out. Hoping that HDMI to DVI cable does the trick.

Anyone with experience with this kind of set-up and the aforementioned hardware greatly appreciated.

And Happy NEW YEAR!

A:Gigabyte HDMI output to Yamaha receiver - no sound output

As you have a separate video card, its capabilities should determine how the video works, not the motherboard. The video is routed to the video card.

If you had some type of integrated Video on the motherboard then the motherboard's specs would apply. For example, I have an Intel i7 3770 CPU and this model has built in Intel HD4000 video which is routed to motherboard video connectors and thus the motherboard would determine how the video is distributed. However, I'm using a separate video card and thus that determines how video is distributed.

Hello! Just as a disclaimer this is the first time that I've used this cite, so I apologize in advance for any informalities, or just overall dimwittedness. So for starters, I am not a technologically illiterate person, having been a computer user for the majority of my life. My current set up is the Levovo Y50 gaming laptop, (i'll include the specs below) which is running windows 8.1. So let me explain the situation to you; I have an hdmi output to my monitor, which is being used to transmit audio and video to my external speakers, which are connected to the aux imput on my monitor. So essentially, i never both the intergrated speakers and touchscreen display on the laptop itself, rather I use the audio output to my speakers and the video output to my monitor. However, occasionally, when I hop on skype or use spotify, I feel the need to use my PC headphones, which are the razer kracken headset, which has an integrated microphone, and therefore is connected to one sole port on the laptop itself. Basically, when I choose to use the headphones as an audio output, I go to the playback devices under sound management, and change the default communications and default device to the newly-plugged in headphones, which is listed under the playback devices as the standard "SPEAKERS - REALTEK HIGH DEFINITION AUDIO DEVICE" which, I presume is the output for the laptop itself. Previously, upon changing these options, the audio would then come out of the headphones, as ... Read more

A:Solved: No output to headphones - even though sound manager shows an output

1 Welcome to Tech Support Guy
2 re your disclaimer - no need for any apologies, but your post is a little difficult to read, we would have been better with separation of the main points by paragraph spacing. However I think I have the situation
3. Lets start with the basic possible causes.
4. I do not know that monitor but the jack for the speakers is connected to the audio from HDMI input is it the 3.5mm just in case there is another jack socket
5. Please see screenshot and check levels
as if volume is right down there will of course be no sound
6. I cannot understand why the headphones are shown as the Realtek speakers they are I thought usually shown as second ouptut

I'm helping a friend with his comp and have gone brain dead. I need to figure out what sound card and what video card he has in his computer. I'd prefer not to open it up and neither of them are showing up in the device manager. I need to find them to install drivers. Any suggestions?

Go to CNET and download SANDRA Standard 2004. It will tell you more about your machine than you really need to know. There are a couple of other programs that will do much the same. Sandra is the one whose name I can recall at 02:38 in the morning.

I'm going to try to give as much detail as possible but I didn't write down any of the errors unfortunately.
I had a freeze on my computer as I was switching my sound card (a pretty old sound blaster live gamer) from entertainment mode to game mode. I had to reboot as nothing else was working. When the computer came back up it was in VGA mode. I looked at system manager, showed an exclamation mark next to the video card and the sound card (although it was displaying their names). I tried uninstalling and re-installing, and nothing will do the trick. After I installed the video card drivers it gives me some kind of error, like its not identifying the card correctly, it thinks the driver is from a different version of radeon hd. I had this a while back and fixed it by reinstalling windows (which at the time I needed to to anyway, so I didn't pay much attention to it). I really would hate to have it reinstalled again as I would have to install a lot of software that I currently have on it.
Any thoughts? I didn't create a restore point, I tried restoring, it won't help. Any thoughts? I'll give you more info later if you request it, this is all I can think of from the top of my head (and I don't have the computer next to me at this time since I'm at work). I also had a weird error, now that I think of it, that was saying something like "could not read from 0x89489 (I just put some random digits there, it looked something like this, can't remember the exact combina... I have a computer running Windows XP SP3 on an HP Pavilian a1430n stocked with an integrated Video Card and Sound Card. I'm trying to upgrade my systems video card to a newer GeForce 210 which works great with the computer once its drivers are installed. The problem though is that my integrated sound card stops working and Windows begins asking asking for four "high definition audio bus"'s. The original drivers are in my computers recovery but for some reason, the sound driver is unrecognised by the device manager and even updated drivers from the manufactures (HP, Realtek) don't do the trick. Funny thing is, when I remove the new video card and revert back the the original integrated video port, the sound card begins to work again as if nothings been changed. I've tryed multiple times the remove and reinstall the hardware but get the same outcome. (even tryed to introduce a non-integrated sound card and still no luck). So if anyone has any clue as to what the fix might be, I'm all ears.
