Problems with Defraging Hard Drives After Problems with Norton 2009

Q: Problems with Defraging Hard Drives After Problems with Norton 2009

Hello,

Hope I am in the correct forum. I am not a "computer geek," so please bear with me whilst I try to explain this.

A few months ago I purchased Norton IS 2009. I uninstalled my old Norton 2005, then I installed 2009. Everytime it ran Idle Time Scans or Automatic Updates, it slowed my computer down to a trickle speed. I tried to ignore it, but it finally got to me. Tech support at Norton has not been too helpful either (I spent several hours a day with them this last week alone). They were never able to turn off Idle Time Scans no matter what they did. They re-installed 2009 twice to no avail. They changed my "paging file," which has something to do with expanding my "virtual memory" or something (I think). Nothing helped.

Finally, unable to stand it any longer, today I told them to get 2009 off of my computer, which they did. They installed 2006 in its place. 2006 does not seem to be slowing down my computer, thank goodness. However, ever since they started tinkering with things these last few days, all of a sudden I was unable to fully defrag Drive C or Drive D.

The funny part of it is Drive D is for CDs and DVDs, and as I recall it used to be 100% free space. Now, there are "unmoveable files" there, and it says I have only 97% free space there. Drive C, on the other hand, not only is unable to completely defrag, it also shows my available space has dropped from 38% to 31%. Before all of this happened, I never, ever had a problem defraging the hard drives.

Needless to say, I am confused, very frustrated, and I have the most God awful, pounding headache you can possibly imagine! Anyone know what is wrong with the OS now? Norton claims it has nothing to do with any of this...uh-huh.

I am using Windows XP with Pack 2 on a Sony laptop that is about five or six years old. Before this, I never had any problems fully defraging Drive C, and Drive D never needed it. I think my RAM Is 256K. I have never added memory to my computer, although it would probably be a good idea, but as I would have no idea what I need or how to do it, I have not made any attempts.

Thanks very much. : )

Preferred Solution: Problems with Defraging Hard Drives After Problems with Norton 2009

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: Problems with Defraging Hard Drives After Problems with Norton 2009

I suspect you're low on RAM (memory). Virtual memory is hard disk space that is used as if it were RAM. The file used for that is pagefile.sys, and is also called the page file (no surprise there). Naturally hard drive reads and writes are MUCH slower than from RAM, but if there's not enough RAM to run your apps, you don't have a choice. A hint of lots of pagefile activity is you hear the hard drive grinding a lot from all the reading and writing. I suspect Norton 2009 might take a lot of memory to run.

One thing about defragmentation is it's probably best to do it while your computer is idle. No reads or writes. No background processes (including background scans for antivirus or windows defender, or file sharing downloads/uploads). Close all programs (including tasks in the system tray), then do your defragmentation.

I'd recommend getting additional RAM if you only have 256MB. You can probably get a couple of GB for a reasonable price. Putting it in is pretty straight forward (you'll just need to look in the manual, and most important, protect yourself from static discharge). If you need guidance, get back to us.
I wrote a couple of posts on picking memory here
http://www.techsupportforum.com/f210...ml#post2165287
For XP I'd recommend at least 1GB (if you can afford it, go for 2GB; the more the better; if you're short on money, go for 512 at least)

I recently tried to defrage my C drive, but before an analysis could even take place a error occurred in file "C:\I386\AGTSCRP2.JS_"
I know this is in the processor folder, and therefore must have something to do with it, is there anything I can do?

Which OS are you using? XP or Vista?

You can use System Restore but that may reactivate the virus.

Try choosing Safe Mode with Networking, Can you get on the Internet that way?

If so download AVG Free 8.0 from http://www.filehippo.com/download_avg_antivirus/

and do a full scan after updating

I have a 640GB hard drive, a 250GB external hard drive, and a recently purchased 1TB hard drive. The 640 GB hard drive has been giving me some troubles.

Here's the screenshot from disk management.

I was using Linux Mint live CD to boot up my computer for some time and at first it was working properly then it stopped showing a partition (other partitions worked without problems). And when I installed Windows the hard drive didn't show at all (this is after I got the 1TB hard drive where I installed Windows XP). I checked disk management, where the hard drive was shown. I tried some option called ''convert to basic disk" or something (I don't remember exactly) and the hard drive then worked!

I installed Windows 7 and ran disk management again and it showed the drive as "Online" (Errors) or something (this might have been the case in XP as well, I don't remember exactly). The hard disk has been working fine until now.

But I suspected something wrong so I got this software called Hard Disk Sentinel to be sure.
Here are the results for the drives.

I have a toshiba laptop from 2010.

I asked someone to come over to back up my nearly full hard drive but after a serious of unfortunate events I didn't get what I wanted and somehow what happened is my hard drive never got backed up and a new hard drive got put in. After the person left I was very upset because I have no backup of my old hard drive. On the new hard drive there are files from my old hard drive, so the new hard drive is not empty and I don't want anything bad to happen to it. The person did a cloning of my computer but what I had wanted was all my files put on an external hard drive so I could view the files on other computers. The cloning backup was done on an external hard drive that is not mine, so I don't have my own backup on an external hard drive like I wanted.

So here is my question: is it okay to take out my new hard drive and put the old hard drive back in? Then I will have a backup done of the old hard drive onto my own external hard drive--is that okay? And then is it okay to take the old hard drive back out and put the new hard drive back in? Will all that in and out cause damage or problems? Will it cause any sort of file corruptions or for any files to get deleted or go away? I absolutely cannot risk anything bad happening to any of the files on my old hard drive. I am very nervous about putting hard drives in and out so many times. I don't want anything bad to happen. A:Hard Drives not recognized but no problems are said

Just plug the Master HardDrive in and remove the Slave and any CD/DVD drive

Note: sometimes just unplugging the drives, and the system power cord out.
Then holding in the ON switch for 30secs (dispersing all internal voltage)
Then replugging in the drives and power cord will work.

Hi,

I recently replaced 2 of my internal 1tb drives with 2tb drives, since then I've been noticing some strange behaviour.
The system randomly 'stutters' for less than a second at a time, it's most noticeable when video is playing as you hear it in the audio.  I've observed that during these stutters, if I go to My Computer the Free Space and Total Size values have disappeared, although the drive names remain, and the green progress/path bar is refreshing.  As per the below, although I've observed drives C, F and L all go blank at different times.

This has been doing this for a few days whilst I've been trying to fault find and this evening when I tried to turn on the PC I got a MIssing Bootmgr error which I was able to resolve by restoring to a previous system restore point.
I've spent a couple of days googling this but haven't been able to find anybody that seems to have had the same issue, so I'm hoping someone here can point me in the right direction.
Many thanks.
Matt

Last night at the same time that I docked my iPod (connected to my PC via USB on a new off-brand dock), I received a “Delayed Write” warning on the file $Mft on my Seagate FreeAgent 250 USB external hard drive that I keep connected to my PC at all times for additional storage.

I am assuming that the two events were related, as 1) I have never had any issues before I connected the dock to my PC (its been connected for about 3 months straight now) and 2) the dock also tends to freak out my USB scanner when the iPod is connected. I had to unplug and reconnect the scanner to wake it up.

I Googled $Mft and learned that this is the NTFS file table. That would explain why I was able to browse the root of the external drive, but not find any files with the folders in the root.

I shut down and unplugged the iPod dock, returning my PC to its previous state. Upon reboot, everything appeared normal with the external and continues to look fine since then.

I checked the Event Log, and at about the same time (some seconds before, some after the popup) as all of this there are a BUNCH of Warnings "An error was detected on device \Device\Harddisk1\D during a paging operation.
"

They stopped for a while after I rebooted, but I see a few more in the log today. What drive is this?? It sounds like my main hard drive!

Is there any way to find out for sure that the events were related and the dock was the culprit? Could anything on the external have been damaged permanently? I us... Read more

I am *really* hoping someone can help me with this!!

It was too hot in here and everything was overheating a while ago and my system crashed. I was able to get my master up again no problem after just giving it a little rest. I also found another old drive I was surprised was able to boot. So once I got my master going again I didn't really worry about it.

Then I tried to hook up the slave. The slave had a corrupted WinXP ages ago and I eventually deleted all the windows files to make more room since I was booting off the master anyway. I was able to boot dozens of times this way before.

But suddenly I get the error message
Windows could not start because the following file is missing or corrupt:
<Windows root>\system32\hal.dll.
Please re-install a copy of the above file

So I tried it with another master. Same thing. Tried cable select and tried jumper settings. Same thing. Tried each master on it's own and it booted fine.

I put in the XP CD to try recovery console. It got me there but then said that windows couldn't detect the drives at all.

Then I tried again and finally got the drives visable in the right order, but still not working.

Now a variety of things are happening. If I hook up either drive with the primary, it gives me that error message. If I boot up each drive on it's own it may do one of several things - hang at detecting IDE drives. Not see any drives or see them in a weird order. Hang at detecting DMI pool data. Say "di... Just installed Windows 7 pro 64 bit clean, full version on a brand spanking new WD SATA drive.

It seems to have lots of problems with hard drives though.

First it wouldn't instal unless I disconnected all hard drives except the destination and the DVD. Gave me format errors.

Odd thing was that I formated it on my old XP OS drive then nothing, then the big disconnect and voila.

I use a lot of music recording software, and have always used a leaner OS drive (100-250 GB) and a secondary for storage and back up (1 TB atm)

At first windows seven didn't see the other drives although bios recognized them, but the 1 TB SATA drive showed up under device manager.

After updates and who knows what, after a new start, it gave me an error message that it found a new HD, but it needed to be formatted in order to use it. This is the 1 TB SATA drive.

I also have my old IDE drives, one, an another back up and the old OS XP pro drive, that I thought I might be able to run and import emails and passwords and such from, but they only show up in Bios.

1st question, can windows 7 read and xp drive, like u used to be able to with xp, if it were a slave drive? I used to when upgrading to a bigger drive, do that and import old emails and passwords and bookmarks and so.

2nd, since I formatted the new drive with XP and installed win 7 on it with no problems, why won't it recognize my back up drive that was formatted with XP?

It may be a SATA issue? With old IDE drives you could... Read more

I have an old computer (AMD Duron 800 MHz) that my kids use for their computer games. ME is installed on it, and it has a 30 GB hard drive. I had an even older computer that I no longer needed that had a 10 GB hard drive on it with stuff we didn't want to lose, including more games that my kids like to play! Anyway, I installed the 10 GB hard drive in the AMD computer as a slave. Now, not surprisingly in retrospect I guess (but I'm new to these things), the programs on the slave do not appear to work. What do I need to do to make it possible to use the programs installed on the slave hard drive?

I don't know if this is at all related, but the HDs are installed as primary master and primary slave. I had tried to install the 10 GB as a secondary slave (with the CD drive as the secondary master), but when I did that the computer would not boot.

Thanks for your help!

Well those programs probably require registry keys. And they were installed on your old computer. The only way you will be able to get those to work is to reinstsall them on the new computer.

Hi Guys,

Looking for a bit of help with a storage problem I am currently having. Im trying to turn an old PC of mine into a media server, and therefore trying to install a couple of 500GB IDE hard drives to it. Because the PC is old (a Compaq Deskpro EN P3 733) I am pretty sure it only supports 28-bit LBA. So, for what I thought was a solution I purchased a PCI IDE Controller Card / RAID Controller (http://www.ite.com.tw/product_info/PC/Brief-IT8212_2.asp), and while the RAID BIOS sees the 500GB drive on startup, it doesnt show up within XP.

I tried hooking up an older 80GB hard drive that I know works with they system (and works when hooked up to the on board IDE controller) and that WAS seen by XP even though the 500gb wasnt.

So the questions:
- Do most PCI IDE controllers have built in 48-bit LBA support, even if the motherboard only supports 28-bit LBA?
- Is there a software workaround for this? A little research turned up this - Intel Application Accelerator - http://www.intel.com/support/chipsets/iaa/ - which is supposed to offer 48-bit support on a 28-bit. Anyone used it? Is this likely to fix the problem?

And just to throw another variable in there, I am not sure if the drive was formatted correctly as I did it using the 28-bit system - would this make a difference?

Any help would be brilliant - I have been tearing my hair out with this one!

Thanks,
ALEXIS

Yes it sounds foolish BUT, I was able to fix an OS (operating system) on 1 disk infected by a ransom virus from an OS on the second disk. Here's my dilemma, because I almost lost some very important data, I would like to protect certain data from damage or viruses in the future so -  I want to have 2 hard drives with a total of 5 OS's on them. First disk would have XP & Win7 on it. Second disk would have XP, Win7, & Ubuntu. My reasons are I would like to use one XP OS for financial transactions & nothing else. I use 2nd XP as a backup/recovery for the 1st XP. Then I use 1st Win7 for general surfing & research. I use 2nd Win7 for backup/recovery of 1st Win7. For the 3rd system I would like to install & try Ubuntu for a few months to see if I would like it.
So far I have installed XP & Win7 on one hard disk. I have created 3 partitiones on the second hard disk, formatted 2 of those partitions & installed XP on the first partition & planned on installing WIn7 on the next partition then Ubuntu on the final partition. Now when I boot up the only OS's that appear on the list are the 2 XP systems. The Win7 system doesn't show up as an option to start. So at this point I'm not sure how I should proceed from here to have the Win7 OS to show up as an option to start & be able to continue installing the next Win7 & Ubuntu systems... Read more

A:1 computer, 2 hard drives, 5 operating systems, having problems

Well one way to do what you want is to use a boot manager. There are a bunch listed when I Googled with "partition boot manager"

Using one XP OS for financial will not be enough protection. If you were to get a Remote Access Trojan (RAT) for example they would be able to see and access all the drive letters in the computer. There are ways around that but I went for the simple method in my case.  One method to be secure is use removable drive trays and only have one OS inserted at a time. One OS for financial on its own drive, One Tray for the other OS's. The other way would be to use security software that encrypts the OS drive to be unreadable until you boot it and enter the password, Another possibility would be Virtual Machines holding the OS's.

One nice desktop for everything except for financial use. Then a inexpensive laptop that gets used for online banking, Billpaying, Income tax, Shopping at known good sites such as Amazon, Newegg, Tigerdirect and clothing/shoes. No Email, No surfing the web. Nothing else. I pull it out twice a month Bank, pay bills, Make an order, if needed, Then I shut it down and put it away again.

That is about the best I can think of for my peace of mind.

Good Luck

My daughters Dell 4400 is not in good shape right now. It has multiple issues--the computer is no longer recognizing the cdrw and DVD drives; also the hard drive (20 gig) has only 3 gigs free and won't defragment properly. Her system is running very very slowly.

First, the CDRW and DVD drives. I called Dell today because the CDRW wasn't working. He had me try to read cds (which didn't work) and then had me open up the back of the computer and switch 2 sets of plugs between the CDRW and DVD drives. One set of plugs a white base and 4 wires--the other set had a wide ribbon attached. I switched both sets and he determined that the CDRW needs replacing. When my husband was trying to replug the ribbon type plug back into the DVD ROM, a pin bent. He managed to unbend it. We attempted to switch everything back, but now her computer only recognizes the floppy drive in the device manager. I'm going to try re-opening the case and unplugging and reinserting both sets and see if that helps. If I can download the correct drivers from Dell, would that help?

The other issue is the hard drive. The tech told me that ideally the drive should remain 50% free. Right, like thats realistic. I did purchase a SimpleTech external hard drive (not installed yet), thinking that we could at least store her music and the "my documents" folder on it--together they total 8 gigabites.. But I don't think thats going to leave enough space on her internal hard drive. Can so... Read more

Its a good idea to keep your storage seperate from your OS and a seperate partion on the 60 gig should be fine. If you have a recent version of ghost 2003 or better it has cd support and you can create a bootable cd rom, if you have a burner of course.

Hi recently a client purchased three Dell Precision 380 workstations with Wiin 2000 professional.
To speed my installs I attempted to use Norton Ghost 9.0 to image the first PC before I set it up with all the software they need on it.
I can install Ghost 9.0 and do Backup of the drive while its running (OS partition too) without any problem.

My problem is this: When I boot up on the recovery CD that comes with the disk it won't recognize the SATA hard drive. Has anyone come across this problem?
I went to their knowledge base and found nothing regarding this issue but I did find my interim workaround solution there.
In the knowledge base they acknowledge a problem with Ghost 2003 and SATA drives.
The workaround is this: Run the ghost program from the ghost 2003 cd in dos, the command should be this: ghost -fni. This forces it to recognize the SATA drives and I was able to use ghost 2003 to do my imaging and restore those images to the other PC's.
I'm hoping you smart folks may have seen this issue before and help me solve it.
Thanks in advance for your help.

I've got a Sony-Vaio laptop with Windows Vista Home Premium SP1 and Norton Internet Security 2007 on it. I would like to upgrade to NIS 2009. I have already talked to a Symantec Support technician, and he has told me that there are basically two ways of removing NIS 2007 if I want to upgrade to NIS 2009: run the removal tool twice to get rid of NIS 2007, then install NIS 2009, or let NIS 2009 remove NIS 2007. I don't know which is the better option, can't make up my mind. Does anyone have experience with such an issue?

Hey Guys, first things first. I had an old hard drive from a crapped out laptop. My uncle gave me an USB Hard drive converter(unsure on it's brand, after it worked i threw out the box). Problem is that I used it several times between a mac and a pc(school and home computer) and now it give me an I/o error when I try to copy stuff and says it can't find the item when I try to delete something. I tried reformatting(all this is on a PC BTW). I tried plugging it into a mac at school, but it wouldn't show up as connected.

I just realised that I had a driver cd for it, but I have lost it and cannot find it(too many CD's to keep track of, lol), I was wondering if there was anything I could do to fix this problem. It is a fujitsu, 30 GB hard drive(though it when I was using it, it showed as a 20 GB) I would prefer not to have to buy a new adapter or hard drive. I would just like to use this, to store all my music on, because the hard-drive on this computer(it's only 40GB getting a new one soon) is getting cluttered with music.
Now for my second problem, which isn't really my problem at all, but I digress. My friend was using her microphone(on an XP Home) and half way through her conversation it cut out. I have got her to check all her sound settings, no low sound settings on her computer. She has tried recording messages but nothing happens as if a microphone is not plugged in. I gave her my microphone to try out with no avail. I had a feeling that it... Read more

I have been using Norton Anti Virus 2008 for the last year and have had no problems with it and actually have enjoyed using it until recently. My years subscription is just about up and I got an email from Symantec a week ago inviting me to do a "free" upgrade to the NAV 2009 which I did.

A week after I did the upgrade the video in my computer started acting wierd with the colors being off and my monitor kicking into Auto Setup mode each time I turned my computer on until finally the video on my computer failed completely and I have had to go out and buy a new computer which really isn't that much of a disaster since my old computer was four years old and in need of some upgrades but I am really pissed that a week after I upgrade my anti virus software it takes out my computer. Granted, this might be some kind of a coincidence but I am inclined to doubt that.

Has anyone else upgraded their NAV and had this happen? I am gettign emails from Norton/Symantic offering me another "free" upgrade but I am thinking in this case their version of "free" is out of my price range.

Also, this new computer I bought came with the free version of AVG anti virus/anti spyware installed. Does anyone know anything about the AVG programs? Do they do an adequate job or should I dump it and install something else? Thanks.

The computer starts and loads, but it freezes right away. On the monitor I see two programs I think are the culprits. Anitivirus 2009 and Clean registry for free. I tried loading in the safe mode, but it doesn't work.
I need some help! Please!

You'll need to get a live windows CD, also known as BartPE or WinPE. You could also slave the drive in another computer although you risk infecting that computer. Once you have access to a the drive, you can run a antivirus program to clean up the mess. Boot, in safemode, run HiJackThis, and post the log in the proper forum to make sure you are virus free.

I've had several problems with "Antivirus 2009" in the past few months, and have never managed to fully get rid of it. I do scans on my computer regularly but problems keep coming up. Currently, my battery bar, volume, network connects, and other icons have disappeared from my systray. Also, almost any program I try to click on whether it is through the start menu or a shortcut is now giving me the error message "specified path does not exist" most of the time. Another problem seems to be that my internet explorer and firefox come up with the message that they have encountered an error and need to close about 10 minutes into using them. Is there anything I can do to fix these problem and finally get rid of Antivirus 2009??

The particulars are regarding a 32 bit version of Vista Home Basic Edition on an Everex laptop. It began giving startup error messages about an imminent hard drive failure months ago, requesting F1 to continue. Eventually the messages began to appear while the PC was running. The user disabled the msgs and the laptop continued to function for months, without any apparent problem beyond the boot msg.

I ran chkdsk 3 times in a row and saw the exact same named cluster errors every time, although the utility said after each pass that they'd been repaired. Then I ran the HDAT2 utility. It ran for about 7 hours, and it also said that it had repaired clusters. Subsequent boots however. always gave the same imminent HDD failure msg, press F1, etc....

Although it's an Everex laptop, I have no Everex CD, so I tried to boot using a 32 bit Dell Vista Home disk. I hear a lot of noises. But I never get a thing to pop up on the screen. Same non-result with a Spotmau Bootsuite CD. The only thing I got to work on a disk was the one with the HDAT2 utility. So I put the Vista disk in a disk reader which plugs into a USB port. (It's a Targas DVD-ROM reader). I wasn't sure just how to change the boot order in setup to access the disk in the reader so I simply put the hard drive last. Didn't do a thing - it just attempted to boot from the HDD. By this time it was blue screening with an unmountable boot volume, so I put another hard drive in the laptop. It won't boot from it - although I am offe... Read more

Hi, I have been getting an awful lot of pop-ups on my laptop recently which is running windows XP. I used to use internet explorer as my main browser but when I used it one day I kept getting redirected to a website claiming I had a virus and I should download antivirus 2009 or something along those lines. Images also fail to load now whenever I use internet explorer and I get a heap of pop-ups.

This made me turn to firefox which runs better and displays images correctly but very often a new browser opens displaying a white screen and wont load properly, these accumulate over time and makes my laptop crash if I try to close a lot of them at once. I also get a popup that claims I need to download antivirus 2009 and when I cross this off it opens up a new browser page showing a fake virus scan in progress, this needs to be closed twice to get rid of it and appears frequently too.

I have downloaded malwarebytes as I read this would help. I have run it once where it showed several infected results and I restarted my laptop in order for it to delete the remaining ones. After testing again with malwarebytes it says I have no infections, this lasts for a while but they come back in full force quite quickly.

If anyone could be of any help I would greatly appreciate it because I'd like to get my laptop up and running properly, whatever the infection I have is, it slows it down a heck of alot.

thanks

A:Having popup problems - antivirus 2009?

I forgot to say that I had initially been unable to install malware bytes and ended up having to rename the .exe file, before I had run the program I was unable to update any of my other anti-virus programs and my system restore point had dissapeared.

I'd just like to mention as well that I have noticed there are several other posts that highlight the same problem I have mentioned. I have been reading these but the final solution always seemed to be specific to the posters computer. I am willing to download programs and produce log files if anyone thinks that would be of any use.

Hp computer, Windows 7 added recently and removed Vista.

Roxio loaded on computer and it shows the Roxio files on my desktop.

It is located on c drive in Program files. I can see all the files...but the Icon for Roxio on My desk top when you click on it just open to the files.
When I click on the Icon the program will open not properly where I can use it.

When you click Start and click on Programs you can open the Cineplayer part of Roxio and it opens up ok but the other part of Roxio don't open up like Cineplayer...like I said the rest of Roxio opens to the folders which all make up Roxio. Any suggestion on how to make Roxio work correctly?

A:Roxio Creator 2009 problems

I believe Roxio Creator 2009 software requires an uninstall, reinstall if you upgrade from Vista to Windows 7. If you had the software installed before you upgraded, you'll have to uninstall it, then reinstall it in order for all parts of it to work correctly.

If you did not have it on the computer when you had Vista, or if you uninstalled it before you upgraded, I would still perform an uninstall, reinstall of the software, just to make sure something didn't get screwed up in the installation.

Check and see if it has a restore type option somewhere - it may have made backups which can be restored.

Otherwise, try a system restore to a point before the problems started.

However, I am still getting the warnings at the top of my browser window that say I am infected and that my system is at risk (such as: "Warning! Your system is in danger. YOUR COMPUTER IS IN need OF full scanning." or "18 Trojans WERE found on your machine! !!!FREE VIRUS SCAN!!!"). AVG scans (the free version) tell me that there is an infection that it cannot clean, "userinit.exe," because it is a vital system file, but it is infected with a trojan called SHeur2.<file-extension> or something very similar. There's also some kind of "Speeddial" file called "win32hlp" that keeps coming back after I tried deleting it before.Along with this infection, there are some other infection, but they have apparently been removed. Despite that, side effects from the infections still linger. For example, my normal NOD32 anti-virus was disabled, and I can't get it to run even after trying to use the "Repair" option that came with the installer.
