Microsoft Windows section is not showing up in Installed Updates

Q: Microsoft Windows section is not showing up in Installed Updates

Hey all,

I am trying to uninstall IE10. When I go to control panel, program and features, installed updates, the Microsoft Windows section does not show up. The only sections I can see are Adobe Reader XI, Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Client Profile (10),
Microsoft .NET Framework 4 Extended (7), and Microsoft Office Home and Business 2010 (36). I have no idea why it isn't showing the Microsoft Windows section, but any help would be great appreciated.

PS - I am an admin on the system. I also took it off the domain and logged in as a local admin. Same results.

Preferred Solution: Microsoft Windows section is not showing up in Installed Updates

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I am having a problem uninstalling some updates that were automatically installed by windows because the section that contains those updates in "Installed
Updates" is just missing. Normally you would go to Control Panel > Uninstall a Program > View Installed Updates then you would see a list trees with updates in each section. The section for Microsoft Windows isn't there. I'm not skipping over it,
it's just not there.

Example of not showing the section for Microsoft Windows:

Example of showing the section for Microsoft Windows:

I am running windows 7 on a domain environment. I am trying to uninstall IE11 update to revert back to IE9 (this was previously installed). My hunch is that this is a group policy setting somewhere, but haven't found anything pertaining to this yet.

I am one of two admins for the company. This is actually happening to all the computers that I've checked, so I assume it's a systemic

I have been working on a new pc today that I needed to create an image for and noticed it isn't having the issue yet. However, a computer I recently imaged (Tuesday) is already having the problem.

I did gpupdate /force on the new pc without the issue, and it still is working fine. I'm starting to wonder if it may be a side effect of using sysprep on the machine before putting it into service. Once I'm done with this new pc image I will sysprep it
and watch for any changes.
Any help is appreciated.

This morning I saw the latest Windows 7 updates on an old computer I have (A VM running in XCP-NG) to run an old version of Confluence Wiki but that's not really important.
After installing the updates and rebooting the VM is so slow that it looks frozen at times. I restarted it in safe mode to remove the updates but when I access the Windows Updates list from Programs and Features it shows "No updates installed."
Has anyone else seen something like this? I have backups of this VM so I'm working to restore from a backup and before you ask, I know - I have to update that Win7 machine to a more recent version of Windows.
Thanks in advance and best regards.

I've always used windows movie maker to make videos using clips that I take from a point and shoot camera. The files are .AVI and .MTS. I've never had problems before. Then I installed the latest window update which "upgraded" to a "better" version of movie maker.

Since the update, I get little yellow error signs in my video clips (different clips every time - not like just one is defective) and it says I must remove the defective videos before I can save the movie to a DVD. When I click on help, it says there is a problem with the codecs. On a seperate similar note - I am not able to open photos that were shot in RAW and the computer won't let me download the codec for RAW! All this codec crap happened after the windows update!

PLEASE HELP! I want my videos and pictures of my baby!! What codecs are needed? How do I get them? AARRGG!

XPS13 with Windows 10.  See screen shot below.  Dell Support Assist program says the two driver updates are recommended.  clicking "install" it shows progress to install, then says installed, but on refresh or re-entry to the program it still shows them as needing to be installed.  No errors generated.  Other driver updates done the same way without issue.  Suggestions?

A:Dell SupportAssist - says driver updates are installed but still showing need to be installed after refresh?

Don't use Dell Support assist with windows 10. Windows 10 will install generic drivers if Dell doesn't have win 10 drivers. You should mention the full model name of the computer. Does Dell support your model for upgrading to win 10? If so, get the win 10 drivers from Dell Drivers and Downloads.

This is my first post, so please be understanding.
When I run Dell System Detect on my XPS 13 9360 it tells me there are two downloads available, Chipset: Intel Management Engine Components Installer and Chipset: Intel Chipset Device Software Driver.
I have on a number of occasioins installed these components and received the messages:
Installation complete Restart required 2 drivers downloaded and installed successfully. I have installed them from a browser and by downloading to a local drive and running the install from there.
The O/S is Win10 64 bit and I run the install as a local admin.
Any ideas why it presents the S/W every time I run System Detect?
Thanks in advance,

Recently, I received updates from microsoft which updated my graphics driver.  Since then, it causes my screen to turn sideways and I can't use the comptuer without going into the device manger and uninstalling it.  This will change periodically while using my computer and its very frustrating.  For days now HP had been saying they are updating their websites for support with drivers and software, now that message has gone away but my system no longer shows updates for windows 10 OS.  How can I get new/correct updated drivers for my system? Hello, I would be grateful if anyone can help with this query.

On 1 June 2013 I took my pc back to Factory Settings and did a clean install of Windows installing all the relevant important updates for Vista. My pc is now up-to-date but one thing puzzles me. My list of installed updates lists a significant number of updates installed in 2008. (Two installed on 21/01/2008 and 39 from 21/10/2008). I would have expected that all updates listed would have an installation date on or after 1 June 2013.

I would be grateful if someone could explain this for me.

A:Why do my installed updates list updates installed prior to date of clean install

One important question, when did you buy the computer?
Was it after the installation date that shows, now?

There is a lot of Microsoft spy ware included in certain updates nobody wants on their computers and if performing a Dist-Upgrade will embed them without an option to remove them later, then we would rather do the installation without them; and choose what
we want to upgrade later.
Examples of Windows 7 Native Telemetry/Spyware updates and the necessary steps to harden your PC against Microsoft (TM) spy ware:

For windows 10 users, I recommend blackbird www.getblackbird.net/ , (also works on windows 7) O&O Shutup 10 https://www.oo-software.com/en/shutup10 , and Spybot-Anti-beacon   https://www.safer-networking.org/spybot-anti-beacon/
For windows 7, Ancile, Blackbird, Spybot Anti-Beacon

Also make sure your Persistent routes is clean under TCPIP parameters, I had 329 embedded entries the majority of which were pointing directly to Microsoft servers.

Will an in-place dist upgrade of a Windows/OS with Updates included embed updates in such a way they cannot be uninstalled later?

I am working with a new DB that someone created for our small business. It contains a form that should allow us to enter our inventory into the database. I can open the form (and subforms) in Design view and see everything fine. Once I try to view this form in Layout or Form view, the Detail section of the form will not appear. If I change the Detail sections background color, just that color is displayed in the Detail section. I have searched for the last two hours through forums and nothing has given me a solution. Here are steps i have taken so far:

The form's Data Entry property is set to NO.

The form does not have a Filter applied (or is opened with a WhereCondition) that yields no records.

The form is based on a table that has records.

The form's Allow Additions property is set to Yes.

The form's Recordset Type property is set to Dynaset.

After all of these verifications I still can not view the form. Are there any other suggestions out there?

This is a weird one.

I rebuilt my windows 7 PC after upgrading my mobo and adding an I7-3770k. After getting everything the way I wanted it I created an image using Macrium free.

Recently, after installing the June set of M$ patches I started having problems with IE8 becoming unresponsive, so I restored my system from that image.

Since doing the restore, Photoshop and ONLY photoshop will lose it's icon when I pin it to the top section of the start menu. If I then click "remove from this list" it drops it back to the recent programs list and the icon shows properly.

I cleared the recent programs list and reset the start menu to use default settings but neither of these work. I edited the properties and reselected the icon, even tried different icons. This did not work either.

I am positive the icon displayed properly before I took the backup.

Any ideas?

A:Program icon not showing in top section of startmenu, only bottom

nvm, I have accidentally found the answer...

The icon is stored here...

C:\Users\Tanya\AppData\Roaming\Microsoft\Internet Explorer\Quick Launch\User Pinned.

It had somehow become corrupted.

Manually re-selecting the icon and rebooting resolved the problem.

is it a good idea to install the 26 "update for Windows 7" "kbxxxxxxx" updates that sit in the 'optional updates' section of my Windows Update notification bar. are they needed for anything? do they make my computer work better? what are they there for?

A:"Update for Windows 7" (in optional updates section)

Some optional updates are useful and should be installed, some like Bing related items, Silverlight aren't, since you don't mention the KB numbers it's really hard to answer that.

Until the October 2014 updates I would always receive a sytray notice of which updates had been installed. To clarify, after new Windows Updates were installed and with or without a reboot of the system, I would receive a systray notification that new updates had been installed and upon clicking that notification a window would open and show the updates that had been installed and success or failure status.

I no longer receive that notification. This was true for the October and November patch Tuesday updates. I can open Windows Update and select View Update History and see that the updates were installed but the systray notification only showed the latest installation history and was more convenient that having to open Windows Update to view the update history.

Anyone have any idea as to what caused the systray notification to stop working after updates were installed? OS is Win 7 Home Premium SP 1.

TIA for any replies.

A:No systray notice of installed updates after Windows Updates

Should I post this in the Windows 7 General Discussion forum? Doesn't seem to be much response here.

This is an inconvenient delay, not anything serious. Running Windows 7, if it makes a difference.

Issue: Microsoft Security Essentials auto-updates block Microsoft Updates until MSE is finished.

Description: I have Microsoft Update (or Windows Update, whichever it's known as in 7) set to automatically check for updates but not download or install without my approval. I do this so I can review what's being updated, (I'm a little wary of Microsoft putting an anti-piracy app in as a "critical" update in the last year or two). Anyways, when I boot up the computer, it checks for updates and alerts me of them.

However, Microsoft Security Essentials also auto-checks for updates upon boot, and if it has an update it will automatically being downloading and installing it in the background. Which is all well and good, except whenever that's happening it causes MU to "fail" updates until it's done updating. Thus, I have to remember to wait until the MSE update is done, then run the MU update.

Question: MSE definition updates are included under "Optional" updates in MU, is there a way to make MSE stop updating independent of MU so I can queue all the updates together? I feel like this would be the easiest way to prevent this annoyance. I don't see an option, and I'd rather put up with this annoyance if the only solution is to put all updates back into Microsoft's hands completely.

A:Microsoft Security Essentials updates blocking other windows updates

My understanding of MSE is it will check several times during the to make it has the latest updates. Most GOOD VA programs will do this as there are several releases daily for AV definitions. This is the only way you and your machine will be aware of these releases.

When some of these attacks happen, a definition is released, but as the infection is refined, the the definition must also be refined and/or improved. I use F-Prot on my machines, but I install MSE on the kids and grand kids machines. I have seen as many as 12 releases in one day from F-Prot, this is what is call" being on top of things".

So I would not want to rely on ME being the one to check several times daily on all of my machines to see if a new release has been made.

Previous issue

I have found a new flaw on this issue. It turns out that if IE is NOT the default browser, the option to move from Windows only to MS Updates will be missing! I guess this is part of the improved customer experience. This is after the site is added in compatibility
We were unable to get Office updated with Chrome as the default brower. Even using IE and pasting in the Windows update link directly in, the option to use MS Update is hidden. For what possible purpose?
Simply by setting IE as the default and using the EXACT SAME LINK, the option is now present. Wow! Really?
I hope this saves someone some time as it wasted about two hours today.

Yesterday I serviced a Win7 Toshiba laptop that was in tough shape: it's performance was terrible. A big part of the problem was that the computer was umpteen behind in Windows Updates plus the owner had just about every Microsoft Office product and all of them needed Windows Updates, both security and updates. OK that's not the first time I've seen that; however, the owner uses Google Chrome as his browser.
My questions are
Aren't Microsoft's Windows Updates supposed to be kept up to date even when a different browser is being used?
And doesn't Google Chrome or other browsers have a method for that to happen?
Fortunately the good news is the computer is back to running like new again.

A:Do non-microsoft browsers have a method for Microsoft's Windows Updates?

Only Microsoft products (and certain drivers pushed via Windows Updates) are being updated via Windows Updates. Other products and web browsers uses their own update process/program. Google Chrome uses the Google Update Program, while Mozilla Firefox uses the Mozilla Maintenance Service (I think). So no, Windows Update isn't responsible for the update of other web browsers, other than Internet Explorer and Microsoft Edge (on Windows 10).

First off, brilliant tutorial section... though I couldn't find the solution sorry.

OS was reinstalled from Dell download (apparently, a techie did it). Win7 x64 Home Premium

(1) Control Panel>Win Updates>Important Updates
It's impossible to change the when/how option for Win Updates as it's greyed out, as is the timing option. It's stuck on 'check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them'. I can live with that option but would prefer to change to auto, and more than that would like to feel I am in charge! It happens even in administrator mode.

(2) Control Panel>Default Programs>MicrosoftWindows>Email Program
In the above entry, there is only one option for Email Program which is 'Use my current email program'.

I thought I had uninstalled Windows Live through Programs and Features - or maybe it was through IE9 (as it was then). Sorry I can't recall, it was a while ago. I don't want to use email at all on the Dell (just on this Asus), yet opening IE10 and Favorites, a Windows Live folder lives on. Inside are four pages (Get Windows Live, Windows LiveGallery, Windows LiveMail, Windows Live Spaces).

Unsure if the two are connected or separate issues but would really appreciate any help resolving them please.

Also unsure if relevant but maybe better to mention... BufferZone and MS LiveEssentials were supplied with OS reinstall by aforementioned techie. Being uncomfortable with former but wanting a sandbox environment f... Read more

Hi, I have a Samsung R519 laptop, after installing windows 7 the dvd drive is not working. It is not shown in the device manager. Sorry if this is a re-post but I tried searching for this problem but haven't found one exactly like this.

I recently deleted, reformatted, and installed windows 7 ultimate on my hard drive. Everything installed great and seems to run okay but I noticed there are two copies showing up in "My Computer" and Drive D: Local Disk is an exact copy of my old systems windows and program files. I can still run the programs installed on this disk. What is really odd is that my computer is showing the hard drive which has both installs of windows at 1000GB, when in reality it is only a 500GB drive. This old windows copy seems to be living on a disk that doesn't exist.

I suppose I could have reformatting wrong but I have done this many times. I deleted the old partition and re-formatted. I have no idea how this information is even still on the drive.

I also noticed that as my C drive (new install on win7) begins to be filled up with installing software the D drive is depleting. As if they are sharing the 500GB drive and windows somehow is confused and showing them separately - doubling up the hard drive space that really isnt there.

If this makes any sense and you think you can help it would be much appreciated! I figure I'm going to have to re-install windows again but if I somehow missed something I don't want to run into a system with 3 installs of windows 7. Thanks!

Ok......I had an excel document that i used to replace data in monthly for agent statistics records. I have since attempted to put this into a database for track ability and ease of use. However, when I have multiple detail records in a query, I cannot seem to get them to show in my report correctly. Please take a look at my examples below.

Excel Document: One On One.xls
Access Database: One On One.zip

If you take a look at the excel document, this is what I would like the report to resemble, with the past six months of data. And the table and report are in the access database. The report is not even close to being done, i have tried five to six times and cannot get it the way I want it. Everytime, I run the report it only shows me one month of data.

Hello I'm new here.

I had Windows 7 on my hard drive and I partitioned it using the partition tool built into windows. I installed Windows XP afterwards and now when I got to My Computer > Properties > Advanced > Startup and Recovery > Settings (while I'm in Windows XP) under default operating system it only shows Windows XP.

After I partitioned the drive for 7GB I installed Windows XP on the new partitioned drive known as E drive, I still see C drive in my computer, and all the files and programs I had on Windows 7!!

How do I get back to Windows 7!!
Please please tell me I didn't installed over it!!

A:Dual-Boot: Windows only showing One OS Installed! HELP!

If you use the windows partition tool it deletes the hard drive... so I don't understand what happened here.

Assuming then that you used a partition tool that doesn't delete the hard drive then check your disc drive. Does it have a disc in it?

A third thing is this: you partitioned it but the drive you intended to install xp on was too small, so the installer by default selected the bigger one and you accidently installed xp over windows 7.

I really don't understand what you are saying. Those are three posibilities from what I get out of this post. please rewrite it so we can narrow down what happened.

When you receive it again, do not install. Set it to hide, just right click on the update and choose hide.. You should not be bothered again.

Hello All,

I was referred here by NeonFx from the TechGuy Security forum. He had me run a slew of anti-virus/anti-spyware diagnostics. According to NeonFx my system is currently infection free and he states the problem lies elsewhere.

He also had me run the Windows Update FixIt tool in both Default and Aggressive mode - both of which did not fix the problem. So what is the problem??

When I run the install Windows updates, the updates do not install, and I receive the following message (not verbatim, but close):

"Some updates were unable to be installed..."

This problem "came out of no where" and there has been no suspicious activity prior to it starting other than an IE7 redirect rootkit that NeonFx helped me remove (if I recall correctly an infection of agp440)...

Stumped, stumped and stumped...

Hi try clicking " Restore hidden updates" which can be seen in your screenshots.
If that does not work follow this : Windows Update - Reset
If your problem still occurs Try pressing "change settings" under windows update change it to never check for updates, then press ok. Next change it back to recommended settings, always check.... and so on, then press ok.

Windows Update website, is showing no updates, no optional updates, only 2 optional hardware ones. Also, cant Install IE8, it fails... I explained on the other thread, I'l copy and paste...I tried to install IE8, but it failed. Said that an update failed to install, and that I should install it manually. It linked me to thishttp://www.microsoft.com/downloads/details...;displaylang=enI tried to install this, but received an error message saying that the service pack I have installed is newer then this update.Any idea or should I move this to the xp forums?I do, I think. No updates are shown on Windows Update website, using the Custom option. Restore Hidden Updates button is greyed out. In light of this, I installed Installer 4.5, still no luck. Not really. Im guessing if updates were done, perhaps they were done through Automatic Updates?Under the Windows Update History, it only showed the windows update agent.I tried to reset windows update components using the Fix It fromhttp://support.microsoft.com/kb/971058Used, both options. Still no luck, and now under Update History on the windows update website, it no longer shows the windows update agent. Thanks in advance.

I've been facing this issue lately on this new OS.
Previously on W7 & W8 the updates categorized into 2 column (Important & Optional) where we can select the updates individually and download/install. This way I can get some optional drivers for memory card, printers & etc.

I couldn't find this option in W10. I choose to ignore it but my antivirus keep notifying me that optional downloads are available. I did click the "Run System Updates" but it navigates to System > Update & Security > Message and shows "System is up to date".

Sometimes it only updates the critical updates. The rest (Recommended & Optional) ignored/not notified on windows updates.
Anyone facing this issue? Able to solve? Please help.

Having this same concern. I too am using ESET Smart Sec. I just wish the Windows update was the same back then in windows 7 where you can see recommended/optional updates for drivers.

Please can someone offer some help and assistance? As the title says, I'm having an issue with Windows Update for Windows 7, 64-Bit Home Premium Edition. Basically, this is my Dad's laptop which he mentioned to me that he was having an issue when trying to Shutdown the laptop - that it was constantly showing an update and take an absolute age to close down. I ran an aanti-virus, which came out clear

I did a little research on the web and found that for the hanging update, some guidance to stop update in the in services.msc and to delete 'Software Distribution' folder and deleted it, and then restarted the service for the folder to be replicated. So I expected to see check for updates and updates to installed to say 'Never'. However this was a couple of weeks back and my PC running on Windows 8.1 had received an update in between, so I expected the laptop to have also received one too. I spoke to my Dad said his browser (Internet Explorer 8), was requesting a update for various sites. This is when I went back to take a look on to the Windows Update screens both messages, still saying 'Never'.

When trying to download the browser, getting messages saying from Microsoft site saying some SP's and such is missing and when I have tried to manually make the Windows Update check for updates it just sits there checking for updates for hours and hours until you end up powering down the laptop. My question would be how remedy this or reverse this - so to carry on with updates pe... Read more

A:Windows Updates showing never been updated message

Also from what you said hes still on W7 not W7 SP1.

Any chance you/he can run the MXdiag tool from here, and post the results

Also would be handy to know what his Make/model of comp is and any AntiVirus .

WSUS is handled internally
Windows update settings are configured via GPO
All windows 7 pro machines are identical and behaving the same way
Both event viewer and the windows update log file indicate KB4489878 and KB4490628
are downloaded and ready for installation.  However, only KB4489878 is showing available in windows update client.  The issue is,  KB4490628 needs to be installed prior to installing KB4489878. Both patches have been approved
on the WSUS server
I attempted to add screenshots but could not do so since my "account is unverified".
Does anyone know why this could be happening and how to fix it?  I will add screenshots once my account it verified.

This is a new one for me. Maybe some of you out there have seen this. Windows Update is giving optional updates for HP printers. According to HP's website they do not push printer updates through Windows Update. Any thoughts would be appreciated. Thanks

My HD on my Toshiba Satellite M645-S4045 went bad so I reinstalled a new one and used the Toshiba System recovery DVDs to restore my laptop back to the factory condition (Windows 7 Home Premium 64 bit). Initially Windows Update showed 99 important updates to which I was able to download and install without any problems. But now Windows Update refuses to show any additional important updates (IE9, SP1, etc) and states "No important updates available". I came across the following thread on Toshiba's forum but the recommendations there did not help either - After Restoring to New Hard Disk, No Windows Updat... - TOSHIBA FORUMS

I tried the following:Made sure the Windows install was genuine and activated
Installed the Intel Rapid Storage Tech driver (dated 2012 from toshibas website)
Installed Hot Fix 982018 as recommended on Toshiba's forum
Ran the SURT
Ran a SFC Scan (no errors found)
I've uploaded a few screenshots as well as the CBS folder. I had to split up files in the CBS folder across multiples ZIP files as it exceeded the file size for posting in the forum.

I'm at a total loss and have no clue on how to update my machine and any advice would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Please post the C:\Windows\windowsupdate.log file
I can see no problems in either the CBS or CheckSUR logs (haven't looked through the history yet, though)

I recently made a new fresh install of Vista Ultimate 64 bit. I was using it already, but had to format and reinstall, so everything is new and clean.

I have noticed something strange in windows update: optional driver updates for some devices (such as my monitor or the realtek network adapter) are no longer available and they are not showing in the available optional updates list. They seem to work ok but they are displayed in device manager using the generic microsoft drivers.

For example, whenever a new network adapter driver was available, I used to receive a windows update notification telling me that new Realtek drivers were available. Now they are not showing anymore.

Settings for Windows update are "check for updates but let me choose whether to download and install them" and "include recommended updates" is ticked.

A:Driver updates not showing in Windows Update

Did you install SP1? It is possible that the updated SP1 files are more recent than the previously shown drivers in WU.

Also, I have noticed that WU never includes the most recent driver available for a system, just usually an older one that is fully compatible with your OS - I noticed this time and time again with nVidia drivers, for example, WU wants to install 169.25, whereas the newest driver version is actually 170.16....

Hen in doubt, I go with the latest drivers from the hardware manufacturer's site as opposed ot Windows Update.

I've recently built a computer with the aid of my friend with Windows 7 Ultimate (64 bit) installed back in mid August. During this 2 month period I've noticed that Windows hasn't informed be about any updates and whenever I go to check for updates, it says to restart the computer. Another thing to note is that my copy of Windows 7 was bought back in 2011 and has not been used since then.

Asides from this, I also got a notification regarding my copy of Windows 7 isn't genuine even though I bought it.

Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A:Copy of Windows 7 Ultimate isn't showing updates

Let's check the non-genuine problem first...
Please follow this tutorial and post an MGADiag report - then we can see what the problem is.

Ignore errors produced when clicking on the Copy button - they simply mean that the tool could not create the backup files for some reason. The data is still copied to the clipboard for pasting to your response.

Please also state the Version and Edition of Windows quoted on your COA sticker (if you have one) on the case of your machine (or inside the battery compartment), but do NOT quote the Key on the sticker!

Windows Update recorded 25 updates today. I selected Install but got the message above. They have not been installed (not needed) but remain as scheduled updates in Windows Update. Is this normal operation or is there a problem I need to sort out?

A:Windows Updates Installed or Not?

Haven't seen that before. Did you reboot the computer and look in View Update History if any of those were definitely installed.

Then why does Windows Update keep failing? Automatic updates have failed for at least a week now (no I did not install software so don't ask). When I try to manually install updates, this is the message I get:

"Update for Windows (KB977074) is already installed on this computer"

The following updates are listed in Windows Update as "failed" and/or "pending"
978332/978331 (I assume I only need 332)

All of these updates show the same behavior when I try to install them, and Windows Automatic Updates has had no success in installing them either.

Ive just formatted my hd and reinstalled windows 7 ultimate 32bit onto it. This went on fine with no problems. however, when i went on the net i initially found that i couldnt download the adobe flash player as it comes up with "actionlist not found". Also when viewing websites it keeps saying "certificate error" meaning im having to click "show blocked content" on every site i visit! The smart screen filter says its temporarily unavailiable but has been for several days now and not chamnged. And finally, i went into the updates section, tried to search for new updates as i thought this may be the problem, and it come up with "Errors found Code 80072F8F"

Is there something within the install i have missed? or done wrong? Hoping someone can help! Jstguk

A:Installed windows 7 and cant get updates??

Make sure you have installed all the SYSTEM drivers, Video, Sound, Chipset and the like, then do Windows Update as sometime you need them for IE to work correctly. Or try a different web broswer.

Hi All (please refer to entry #4 with updated excel)

Thanks for helping.

Thanks to Turbodante, I am able to sum a range of colunm data in a macro (refer below), but now I need to be able to choose how much of the column to sum using a date that it stops at.
So rather than doing the whole table, I need it to just sum, as per the example attached, from July09 to the top of the table. Also each month additional data will be added, so its needs to be able to keep summing the data from the date to the top of the table as new data is entered each month.
Also different sheets will need to pick up the date where it needs to end. This will be in the worksheet as a manual entry (refer cell E18)

Sub Macro1()
Dim bRow As Long
bRow = Range("b4").End(xlDown).Row
Cells.Find(What:="Cell Name").Offset(1, 0) = "=sum(b4:b" & bRow & ")"
End Sub

Thanks for your help
