BSOD, initially during iPhone5 sync, now during startup

Q: BSOD, initially during iPhone5 sync, now during startup

Hi -

Started getting BSODs whenever I tried to sync an iPhone 5 or 5s to iTunes. Would make it through some of the transfer, then kick to BSOD.

Had to repair the OS to get it to boot a few times, including running bootrec.exe /FixMbr and
bootrec.exe /FixBoot

Errors that were reported on the blue screen generally were either:

IRQL NOT LESS OR EQUAL

or

CLOCK INTERRUPT WAS NOT RECEIVED ON A SECONDARY PROCESSOR

After few to many BSODs, ran memtest (eight cycles) and the appropriate drive diagnostic tools. No errors in either case.

Reinstalled the video drivers. No change.

Had some time today, so tried to run some diagnostics/conduct a repair. Went into safe mode and deleted all the USB drivers. Had to manually install the USB3 Host Driver from Asus. No change.

Ran Driver Verifier using instructions from Microsoft's website. Now I can't even get through a complete boot before getting a screen freeze - not even a BSOD. Having just looked at Sevenforums page on Driver Verifier, I now wish I hadn't done that.

So, in any event, I would tremendously appreciate any assistance you can provide. It's having a severe impact on my ability to get work done.

I've uploaded two .zip files -one from before running driver verifier, and one from after. Thank you!

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: BSOD, initially during iPhone5 sync, now during startup

The zip you uploaded does not contain any crash dump.

Follow it: Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD
Go to Option Two, Point 2. Download the .reg file and merge it in registry by double clicking it.

Now wait for another BSOD. When it occurred, search the .dmp files manually in the default path: C:\Windows\Minidump or %SystemRoot%\Minidump. See if the crash dump is recorded or not (hopefully it will be recorded).Post it following the Blue Screen of Death (BSOD) Posting Instructions.

Dont run any sort of disc cleanup tool before you upload another zip.

Hi,

I am running Vista SP2 on a Dell M1530. I began receiving BSOD a few days ago, complaining about bcmwl6.sys (wireless network driver ). Updating the driver had no effect, so Dell replaced my network card with a new one, new drivers, etc. The issue continues to occur but no longer mentions any specific files or drivers causing the bsod. Dell now recommends reformat or replacing the motherboard - I would like to stay away from this if at all possible so that I can save my applications and data. It is worth mentioning that I get this bsod at seemingly random times, but only when the wireless network adapter is turned on.

I am including all of the minidump files concerning this issue. Please let me know if I can provide any other information at all, or if anyone has any suggestions.

My instinct tells me that there me be some conflicting service with the wireless adapter, but I have no idea what it could be...

Thank you so much in advance,
~Dimitry

Hi all,

I got a BSOD this morning playing BF3. Restarted and got it again--now it's happened another 2-3 times from the desktop. I've attached the data to this post. Suggestions/comments? Thanks in advance.

This is on Win7 Home Premium x64.

A:BSOD (initially playing BF3) error 0x0000001E and 0x000000D1

No doubt the ati driver has gone bonkers on you.
I've actually been seeing this a bit from bf3 players lately, it may be due to a problem in the game or the driver I don't really know. Anyhow typically just removing and reinstalling stabilizes it again

...the driver... not the game.

Hi,
We recently upgraded to Windows 7 Home Premium after having issues w/a yearly upgraded antiviral software that suddenly wouldn't work w/Vista. No problems, then one evening while in an open live video chat forum it crashed, never had a problem with this before. Have gotten the BSOD since then. Currently only works in safe mode. Ran repair, ran restore previous, nothing works. When he loaded Windows 7, he got updates but I don't think he checked for updates with the drivers. Also, he was in the slow process of pulling off alot of family pics as they are taking up too much space.

Attached you will find the SF Diag Tool file. I'm hoping you can help me please. Nothing special on here, no cooling, no overclocking, nothing. Just an older Sony Vaio laptop.

Thank you very much in advance.

I own a Dell Inspiron 3521 laptop. In the very first month I started getting a blue screen and fatal error UNEXPECTED STORE EXCEPTION. There is no error code.

Dell support replaced the hard disk and then for a few months the error did not occur. Again I'm facing the same issue after warranty has expired.

I upgraded to windows 10.

Now, This is happening too often and I lose the work that is unsaved. Please help.

I don't remember seeing actual BSODs caused by a Store situation.  But since it seems to be happening, can you put the dump file on your OneDrive and give us a link?
We might be able to gain some insight into the situation.
If someone were to suggest you do a Clean install of Win 10, would you consider it?  I assume there are Win 10 drivers for that system?  Is there a Win 10 Recovery image available for download?

I was trying to clean up my PC a year ago and somehow deleted a file called CoreFoundation.dll. Since then, every time I restart my PC I get an error message saying "AppleSyncNotifier.exe - unable to locate component. This application has failed to start because CoreFoundation.dll was not found. Reinstalling the application may fix this problem". But I have no idea what this is or how to fix it. Is there a simple way to get CoreFoundation.dll back on the computer? I tried to do it myself online with a free download but nothing seemed to happen as I still get the error message every time on start-up. This has been going on for about a year now so I'm reluctant to do a system restore going back that far as I'm not sure what other programs I might lose that I've loaded up since then. The system I'm using is Windows XP. Any help would be much appreciated.

I also have another error message on start-up which says "Error starting Autosync Launcher. Autosync Launcher could not be launched. Please make sure that Autosync Launcher was properly installed and try again". I have no idea what this is either, so any help here too would be much appreciated.

I was trying to clean up my laptop and somehow deleted a file called CoreFoundation.dll. When I restarted the computer I recieved an error message saying Apple Sync Notifier.exe could not run because the file CoreFoundation.dll was missing and I could reinstall the file to fix the error. I went to the Toshiba Troubleshoot/Help menu and it instructed me to turn off the program having the error by unchecking the box. I did uncheck AppleSyncNotifier.exe and the error box went away, but I dont feel like I fixed the root problem, and Im not sure what this Apple program does? Is there a simple way to get CoreFoundation.dll back on the computer? I tried to do it myself online with a free download but I couldnt figure it out. The system restore function on this computer had been turned off so that is not an option either. The system Im using is Windows XP Media Center Edition 2002. Thank you for any advice!

Hello Folks,

however getting confused doesn't take much for me lately. :-)

I originally found Bleeping Computer running a Google Search for Antiviirus.exe

Anyhow, a couple days ago my wife told me there were issues with our computer

that is when I found your site. I believe I followed the flow of things and
ended up having to perform a regedit procedure, downloading and running Kapersky Anti-Virus,

believe one or both were in safe mode. I believe I then booted up normally and things
seemed fine but could not connect to the internet, I ran the diagnosis and it reported
that I had to Reset WinSock catalog and needed to execute netsh winsock catalog
I did so and everything seemed to be ok..

Until today, my system shut down a couple times for no reason, another time I got a Restore Active Desktop

On any website, it takes 5 or 6 clicks to get a response from a hyperlink or button/interface - the hyperlink will not be "active" when my mouse is over it until 5 or 6 clicks later. Often, when the click is finally registered, a new tab opens up with some junk commercial page that is unrelated to the hyperlink I just clicked - such as http://homebasedbusinesshelper.com/ and http://www.fatlossfactor.com/new/index2.php. I also note the texts "waiting for adserving.cpmgo.com" and "waiting for mdsad.com" in Chrome's status bar down the bottom left of the browser while any page is waiting to load. Hi, I am new here and I would like to thank you in advance for trying to help me. I'm new to a lot of things, so I will try my best to explain the problem.
I own a Dell Inspiron E1505 that runs on Windows XP Home Media Center Edition.
It has 1.66 GHz, with 0.99 GB of RAM. My web page browser is Internet Explorer 7. Please let me know if you need more information.

The problem occurs when I try to open a new web browser. The page opens, but it takes 5 to 10 minuets to load. Once it has loaded I can navigate around a whole site without it being slow at all, until you hit a hyperlink directing you to another web site. Then it has to take a while to load again. This happens every time I try and open new "tabs" on the web browser too. It also happens with every type of web page I try to load, even if I had loaded it before, exited out, and tried to revisit it.
Occasionally, when I try to open more than three tabs at a time, the web browser closes on itself, which means I have to open a new one and wait for everything to load again. This was never a problem before, as it may have taken a few seconds to load the page, but never more than a minuet or two.

These things started two days ago by themselves, and I have added no new programs or hardware since then. It took me by surprise, as it was all working fine, and has been for a while. It is only my web browser that is working slowly, the rest of the computer is working up to its usual speed.

Two days ago, I got a VirusMelt virus. I looked up potential solutions on this website and subsequently downloaded MBAM, ran it and it found infections that it cleaned. After that I was unable to search from Yahoo or Google for several hours. When I was finally able to search, the links returned in search results would redirect to other sites when clicked on. I reran MBAM, but it found nothing. I came to the forums here again, and was planning to run this process (DDS), so I was backing up my data. During backup, I got a ShieldManager threat warning for a sHeur.VOI Trojan. I selected the Heal option, not know whether this was correct or not. I did not complete the DDS process, but the redirects continued. I came to the forums yet again, and subsequently ran a Kaspersky online scan, but it found nothing. I, once again, came back to the forums and subsequently ran ATF Cleaner and SuperAntiSpyware. Super found 13 threats, which it quarantined. Still, however, the redirect issue remains, and below is my DDS process text file.

Hello,

The Windows Debugging Tools aren't able to access symbols for your operating system files (in particular NTOSKRNL.EXE / NTKRNLMP.EXE / NTKRNLPA.EXE / NTKRPAMP.EXE) from the Microsoft Symbol Server - so that makes debugging them difficult if not impossible.

Please do the following:
- activate/validate the Windows installation at Genuine Microsoft Software
- run sfc.exe /scannow to replace any problem files
- open a support incident with Microsoft to see if they can fix the missing symbols issue ( Windows 7 Solution Center )
- If that doesn't fix it, then wipe the hard drive and reinstall Windows
- don't use "leaked"/torrent builds

Hope this helps,
Captain

Hi
I got a Vundo Virus on my XP desktop (currently using my Vista Laptop) and it took some doing, but MalwareBytes seems to have cleaned it up.
I have notice two seemingly residual problems (at least I never had these problems before)

1. Live Sync doesn't sync the files.
I have been syncing the XP desktop to the Vista laptop and never had an issue, in fact it was one of the MS programs that I thought actually worked really well.
Now, everything says that it's working but nothing is syncing.
I checked the Port Status, Initiate Connection shows OK on all 4 ports, but Accept Connection has Blocked on all 4.
When I stop and restart Live Sync, I can see the Vista laptop goes thru all of the files, but does nothing after.
If I do the same on the XP, it seems to look and find no files to sync.
I have tried uninstalling and re-loading on the XP, no help.

2. My Windows 6.5 phone would not sync with ActiveSync either.
I found a troubleshooting post that said to uncheck in USB->PC "Enable advanced network functionality", so I did and the phone did sync, but before it did a warning came up on the phone saying that this would completely delete all contact, calender and mail data and they would be re-loaded with the sync (which IT did - took forever).

Did this Trojan screw with my syncing ability in a general way?

Thanks
Randu

Last week my 4 year old Dell Dimension 2400 (running Windows XP, Service Pack 2) got infected with a virus called AntiSpyware Master or something like that, which was apparently some kind of "rogue" program that subsequently let a hoard of viruses in. I ran Spybot-Search & Destroy and Ad-Aware 2007 a bunch of times, installed Norton Antivirus (too late, I'm sure) and removed/quarantined whatever they told me to, but not only would it take really really long, but they didn't fix all the problems.

The computer got ridiculously slow (sometimes when I'm trying to run a scan it fails at the end because of a lack of memory) and sometimes would take more than 15 minutes for the desktop to load. Right now I have a blue and yellow desktop image saying "Warning! Spyware detected on your computer! Install an antivirus or spyware remover to clean your computer." My files all appear to be fine, though.

I read the 5 steps before posting and downloaded the applicable programs and ran the scans, and the computer seems to have gotten a little faster but it's still verrry slow and I get popups from Internet Explorer even when I'm using Firefox, and Spybot Search and Destroy keeps on popping up to say that this or that important file has been deleted (I usually click Deny).
I tried to install the Windows update as instructed, but it failed.

First and foremost I'd be very grateful for some advice as to what to do about my computer. However, in the case ... Read more

Hey there,

I have a HP Compaq nx6125 laptop and it recently began shutting down itself on me whenever I started it up.

I left it for a day, and the next day it started up but went extremely slow.
I have done my cleanups and defrags, even cleared out a whole load of unnecessary files. It's still running extremely slow and lags.

Hi,
I've got a problem with Windows 7 service pack 1 machines that were installed between 2011 and 2015 using Sync Center.
On these machines, I do not get either
1. Sync Center icon in the taskbar
2. Sync Partnerships shown in Sync Center (accessed through Control Panel).
Sync does run, and the CSC cache contains an offline copy of the files. I simply need access so I can identify and troubleshoot Sync issues as the user.
A new imaged machine since 2016 does not have this problem.
We are running Lenovo machines and am aware of the Rapidboot issue, however that software was only installed on laptops and the problem is with both desktop and laptops.
I believe it may be down to Windows updates applied between 2011 and 2015.
From a machine that is NOT working, I have listed all the WSUS updates below that were install. This list however is approx. 150 updates and I do not want to have to remove each individually to find the problem. It may also not resolve the problem once the
update has been removed if I could even identify the update.
I have read that the following updates could cause problems, however after removing these two it made no difference.

Yeah, hear me out dudes. I tried the original 8 DP release and hated it. Deleted in 10 minutes. I now have Consumer Preview. I originally hated Metro more than ANY of you - even the SW dude.

It really is faster than the old start menu. The trick is only to put a small amount of items on it and use Rocket Dock for the rest.

In my Rocket Dock, I have all major apps and then also a folder with tons of minor apps. It all works lovely now and like I said, things are definitely faster here than no Metro.

I leave you with 2 screenshots to give you an idea of what I mean with all this:

I initially thought MS was crazy but if you delete ALL the included Metro apps, do NOT use ANY Metro apps and copy or set similar to how I do - it IS faster than legacy Start menu.

Hi there,

Handy with the computers and know how to run tools but can't read hijack this, gmer, or dds logs at all.

Symptoms:
Lots of browser pop-ups and redirects

Problem:
Initially ran a spybot scan and removed a whole whack of stuff including Trojan "FakeAlert".

Malwarebytes and SuperAntiSpyware scans were run as well and the trojans sshnas and null(short) noted by myself.

After disabling system restore and running scans it seems as though the 'infections' aren't being picked up anymore by spybot, MAM, or SAS.

Finally shook off the browser redirects with the IE8 'reset' button on the 'advanced' tab of 'internet options' applet.

However Spybot keeps reporting the "Start" value of HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Services\wscsvc as being !=2. Sure enough I go there (regedit) and it's "4" which, according to technet, is meaning "don't start for any reason at all". I change it to '2' and it gets changed back to 4 shortly thereafter. If I change it to '2' and then quickly go to 'services.msc' I actually get an option to 'start' the security center service but upon attempting it get an "error 1058: The service cannot be started, either because it is disabled or because it has no enabled devices associated with it"

Also Windows Defender can't start its' service either.

I think it's only a matter... Read more

I'm new here and am not a computer whiz. When I first turned on my computer, an older Gateway, the message of needing to reboot and select the correct boot appeared and wouldnt leave the sreen. A media file couldnt be found, either. Now after shutting down several times all I get is the power saving box that lasts only a few seconds. What do I need to do since I'm stuck? How do I get to the correct boot if I cant get past that page? I dont have my start up disc for XP as it wad stolen.

A:Reboot and select correct boot displaying initially

The exact errors would be helpful.

The "reboot and select the correct boot" was likely referring to selecting the correct boot device. This would typically infer the primary boot device (ie: usually HDD) is not found.

As it's not even getting that for now, I'd say there is a hardware fault with the system. Could be as simple as a loose cable or card, or something has actually failed.

Greetings everyone.  I've been dealing with this annoyance for two years.  I've been in contact with the support staff for the application, and have tried everything suggested, but the issue still stands.

The application is League of Legends.  The issue is when the game tries to launch lolclient.exe, I get this error: "Unable to connect to the server.  If you have a firewall, it may be blocking the connection.  Please refer to your firewall's documentation.  Would you like to retry the connection?"

If I click "Retry," I'm stuck on a black screen for ~30 seconds and then it loads successfully.  Sometimes it waits for ~30 seconds, prompts the error again, and then it's successful.  It always eventually succeeds, but it takes a while to get there.  Besides using a VPN and replacing hardware, I've tried literally everything suggested by the community and the staff.  All necessary ports are forwarded and confirmed as open.  I do not experience any persistent network issues besides this one.

I know that it's not actually related to my firewall for two reasons: 1. it happens on ANY computer on the network, regardless of software.  If I use the computer on another network, it connects immediately, and 2. I've completely uninstalled my firewall software, disabled Windows Defender, and ensured that all firewall-related services were stopped.  The router's internal firewall is disabled. &#... Read more

Hello,
I've just put an old but working 40gb Western HDD with Windows on it already etc and a DVD drive into a newer machine whose HDD and DVD had gone kaput. (Primarily to check that is all that was wrong it and then I intend to buy a new HDD.) When the BIOS first boots up and does the initial memory, drive, chipset test and checks the Primary and Secondary Master channels it sees the HDD and DVD drives fine so no problem I thought. (CMOS also appears to autodetect the units correctly in Setup mode.)

However when it then goes (the Bios is GigaRAID BIOS V1.41 F/W Ver 02093030 btw) to do the IDE scan in the next part of the boot sequence I get the message 'not detected' on all the IDE Drives 0,1,2,3.

The SATA Raid Controller Bios then starts and I get the message Primary channel not found and Secondary channel not found.

Then the boot-up continues to the larger tabular part and I get the message below that information 'Primary Master Disc HDD S.M.A.R.T. capability disabled.

Then I get the standard Windows has failed to load probably due to a recent hardware or software change message. Obviously it won't start normally, in safe mode or in any other sort of mode. So it goes into a boot loop.

I can't understand why the drives would be detected without problem in the initial part of the boot-up sequence (and there is nothing wrong with HDD drive, I just stuck in back in another machine to check) but then not detected in the IDE scan in the next... Read more

A:BIOS initially detects HDD and DVD on primary channels but then the IDE scan doesn't

First of all, you are NOT going to get windows to boot when you put a drive with windows on it already in another system. There is a procedure for doing the above however in this case it was not followed.

Next it would help if you posted the exact system specs on the system you are attempting to repair; ie make and model of mb, etc, etc.

From the limited amount of info in your post, it would appear that you have the drive connected to a standard ide type connector and what you are seeing is a raid bios that does not have any drives connected. That would be normal.

Again this is from the limited info in your post. It may not be the case however that is all I can tell from the posted info.

Hey all,

This is a strange error.

Two days ago I booted up my laptop, went away fora few minutes, then came back to notice it was still on the HP Logo screen. My first thoughts was something was seriously wrong with it as it would not advance...or so I thought.

I powered off the device, then powered it back on, and tried again. Same deal.

I powered it off once more and then powered it up, and this time in desperation pushed a key. From that, I noticed it automatically loaded into Windows.

I have tested Windows, no problems. Everything works fine, I can make CDs, using my external hard drive, etc. I checked my device manager and nothing was reported that was an error.

So, I turned my laptop off again, turned it on, and STILL had the same issue. I tried several more times, and generally what happens is it will first boot up to the HP logo screen, and then SOMETIMES will show the message 'Press F2 for setup, Esc for Boot Options, F12 for Lan Boot'. That's the weird thing though...sometimes that message will be shown before I press a key, sometimes it will not. One time, only part of the message showed up and I had to press a key for the rest of the message to be displayed and Windows to continue.

I have checked the CMOS and found no problems. I have reset the settings and the error still occurs. I have used the Ultimate Boot CD and ran Memtest86 and it passed through once suc... Read more

The problem seems to be with BIOS. You might want to get an external floppy drive and download the BIOS flash utility on a floppy (if the file that HP gave you is less than 1.44MB) then flash your BIOS. That should solve the problem.

If you don't want to invest in floppy drive and if you have a USB stick, I recommend this program:
http://h18000.www1.hp.com/support/files/serveroptions/us/download/23839.html

To make your drive key bootable and/or capable of flashing firmware:
Place your hp USB drive key in an available USB port.

Select the 'HP Drive Key Boot Utility' shortcut in the 'HP System Tools' folder.

Complete each step presented by the application.

So, following up on a previous thread (here), I tried cloning my original old hard drive to my new one this weekend.  Apparently, the old drive had some bad sectors, however, because none of the cloning apps I tried could handle it.  The bad sectors must not have been in a critical area - Windows still started up fine when I booted from the old HD - but the cloning programs wouldn't finish.  My last-ditch cloning effort was to try Clonezilla Live.  That failed as well, and when the PC rebooted, the old hard drive would no longer boot up with Windows.  It went to a BSOD regardless of whether I tried using last known good configuration, safe mode, etc.  Dunno if Clonezilla screwed something up or if the HD just had more of a breakdown.
Regardless, that left me with no working bootable hard drives, so I gave up the cloning dream and re-installed Windows 7 on my new drive.  That worked ok, and I could see the old drive once I was in, so I started copying files from it.  I got my highest priority files, and then started installing Windows updates on the new hard drive. During a reboot within that process, that's where things got worse.
When my PC rebooted, it listed two drives in the BIOS.  However, when it got back into Windows (booted from the new drive), it no longer listed the old drive in Windows Explorer OR in Disk Manager.  When I restarted the PC, I also no longer saw it in the BIOS.  However, if I turned off t... A:Drive question - why would it show up in BIOS initially, then disappear, even for later reboots?

Hard drives that have "BAD SECTORS" are dying.  Copying files off now the bad drive is DEAD.
Modern SATA Drives with bad sectors have run out of spares and can DIE FOREVER EVERYTHING LOST at any time after that.
SMART is likely now DEAD aka there are no soft fixes for PHYSICALLY BAD DRIVES.

I have a somewhat unique problem, and I can't seem to find anyone on these forums, or the internet for that matter, with the exact same problem.

Description of the problem:
When I first turn on my computer I can OPEN Internet Explorer. However, it will not load any web pages. It just sits there trying to load a page but doesn't do anything.

About a minute later, the page will load, and the problem is gone from that point forward.

During the minute I am waiting for Internet Explorer to load, I can browse just fine on Firefox, and even play online games without any trouble.

When I first boot my computer, and I let it sit for about a minute before trying to load Internet explorer, it will load up as if nothing is wrong, but it always requires that minute before Internet Explorer will load any page.

Other info:
To the best of my knowledge the computer is 100% clean.

This problem started on or about the same time an additional 2GB of ram was added to the computer. However, this may be completely unrelated.

This problem also effects the program "Samurize". If anyone knows anything about that product, it shows computer stats, and since it calls out network information, it seems to take a minute to load, and will not load on boot.

From what others are telling me it was suggested that "svchost.exe" may be failing to load for Internet Explorer, but I can't verify that.
Any help would be appreciated.

Thanks in advance,

- Bob

1) Mozilla browser redirects from searches even though I deleted what appeared to be a proxy server setup from my browser settings.
2) Firefox has been crashing a lot.
3) Several hundred "intrusion attempts" blocked by Norton 360, which lists the severity as high. The attempts begin as I launch Firefox.
3) Programs that use the internet to download updates (Windows update, Windows Media Center) can't update.
4) Also it appears that sometimes my main toolbar and Outlook have a different appearance & color?
5) Another issue might be a file that runs in my processes: csrss.exe. I find it odd because when I right-click to open the file location it doens't open any folder, though there is a csrss.exe in my system32 folder. Some internet searches have noted that that might be some sort of virus. It currently uses 1412k of memory.
6) Restarts of my computer take longer than usual.

Any help would be greatly appreciated.
