Q: online pc purchase...

Anybody had experience with dellauction.com???

Any other authorized dealers who sell refurbs - HP, Acer, Gateway, etc. ???

Preferred Solution: online pc purchase...

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I want to buy the upgrade version as a download, but I have some questions? Can you please help me? Thanks

a) Is the downloadable version multilingual?
b) Can I use the upgrade version as a new clean install?

A:Plz help with question on online purchase

All versions are multilingual in the sense that you can choose what language to use at installation, but only Ultimate (and Enterprise) can switch back and forth among different languages, is my understanding.

The upgrade version can do clean installs, but you are supposed to have the appropriate qualifying prior version of Windows installed. Once it sees that, you can go ahead and do a clean install with the upgrade version.

Though I heard from one of my friends in the States that Woolworth went under there some time ago - it thrives here. However if you check out the link to Top 100 Albums, you can see that they are around the £12.99 mark. Not much cheaper than buying the original CD ... considering that you don't get the album cover, the CD Media, the Case etc Not really the way to wean people off illegal filesharing.

You might also Google Virgin (as in the so called Megastore) - my searches merely came up with the Radio Station of the same name.

How could I purchase a new Win 8 product key? I freshly got a new computer and want to install it but my family is already using copies of the activation key. Is it possible to get a new one without purchasing a new copy of Windows 8? Has anyone bought online? I found a site, they are wholesale supplier of genuine Windows product keys and offer them very affordable price.

A:Windows 8 activation key online purchase

I'd be leery purchasing a Windows Key unless it was directly from Microsoft or a known reliable seller such as Amazon or Newegg. Also, check out this article:

I believe I have a strong case that I have a malware infection that has repeatedly successfully discovered my debit card information when I'm making purchases online through my web browser using last pass to fill in the fields. I was not using a secure VPN line or private browsing or a browser sandbox explicitly, but was using the latest Mozilla Firefox. Even before the first attack, I had regularly used the free Avast, MalwareBytes, and CCleaner. Also, I had never had problems when I was doing online purchases using Bank of America as my bank in the past with the same tools, but when I switched to a local credit union (obviously smaller with less captital and spending power to make their servers "tighter") the problems soon began.

They have performed multiple sessions of fraudulent debit card activity after reporting it (to bank) and cleaning with CCleaner, scanning deeply with Avast and Mal-wareBytes, still it happened again and again.

Thank you in advance so much for all your help!

need some nice recommendations please as on a tight budget, obviously only legitamate sites please.

A:Windows 7 x64 upgrade - Online purchase recommendations please

The best value for Upgrade is Win7 Home Premium Upgrade Family 3-Pack which regularly goes down to $99-$120 on Amazon, buy.com and newegg.com, making 3 licenses cheaper than a single normally-priced Upgrade license.

Hopefully it's available if you're in another country by googling the name and searching around a bit for online or big box retailers.

It seems Lenovo just rolled out new plans for  Thinkpad customer to choose their warranty add-ons. It moved from old optional plans with different extent of bundled products (e.g. ADP, KYD, Sealed battery) into an a-la-carte item model for the customer to choose. I compare Lenovo online sales website in HK, JP, SG and US and have the following findings: 1. Not all countries have rolled out the new warranty options scheme yet (e.g. Lenovo HK and Lenovo JP is still using old "bundled" warranty plan option) 2. Inconsistencies on the choice of additional warranty services available for Thinkpad customers (For Levono SG, Seal Battery, Keep Your Drive are not available as add-ons if the customer chooses Depot Warranty plan, while Lenovo US offers these add-ons to both Depot and Onsite Warranty. Meanwhile, Lenovo US customer need to buy an add-on for international warranty but Lenovo HK, SG offers the international warranty to all new Thinkpads they sold. 3. Lack of transparency on warranty add-on pricing. I noted Lenovo SG priced Seal Battery Add-on for T480s at SGD330 but same Add ons in Lenovo US is only quoted at USD$26. Can Lenovo explain why such discrepencies happen? And welcome you all share your findings on the Thinkpad warranty add-on offerings in your home country.

Hi, I am from Malaysia.  I purchased and paid for Hp Envy Notebook 13-d045TU online (Philippines Office-order confirmation no. SCP0661162) on 02/06/2016 of which I was told that stock was available and delivery will be within 6 to 10 days. As it has already been 6 days from this note, I contacted Mr Mark Ian (person who placed my order) on HP web and had a chat with him on the delivery status.  Mark told me that delivery can only be made in between 6 to 10 JULY 2016..a month away. Very very disappointed..1. At least have the courtesy to call or mail me saying that there's a delay. If I did not chat with him, I would still be waiting.2. My current HP Pavilion g4 has gone obselete and looking forward to be replaced with another HP product - really disappointed with the service.3. My money is already in HP bank and really hope someone take the trouble to refund..surely buy another brand with better service.4. Mark recommended me to replace another model for an additonal RM300..hmm..no deal, difficult to trust and asked for a refund. I also asked Mark to arrange for the replacement model at the same price (RM4,557.12) but he chose to refund rather then working on my request. HP management/sharholders should look into this issue for it to be competitive in the market. Someone told me to get Dell, but I like Hp better as I have been using Hp since I was young. Otherwise my next product is Dell. Thank you.

Hello, folks!
I come to you with quite a problem.
My internet doesn't work, but only so far as browsers go.
I am on an HP Pavilion laptop running Windows 7. In Normal Mode, I am able to swiftly and easily use things like Skype and even Steam; video games that go online or have an online component also seem to work, and can patch themselves or download updates. However, I absolutely cannot use any of my browsers. I have three of them installed: IE, Chrome and Firefox, and when I try to use any of them I get the same error.
My main browser is Chrome, and when I attempt to navigate to a page, the browser hangs for a little while and then displays the error, "This webpage is not available."
Sometimes I will see this error flash in the page for a split second before my default 'start' page (which really isn't a website) turns up.
All of the browsers lag. Chrome in particular says 'Loading...' for some time before it even loads the start page.
However, in Safe Mode, all of my internet functionality is present and flawless. My browsers open speedily and connect to the internet in seconds without any problems.
I am not on my home network; I am on a Verizon network at my cousins' house. Obviously the issue is not with the network, and believe me, I checked and checked and checked again to be sure of that, but I did not start having this problem until I got here and tried to log on. Initially, when I did so, I had the ... Read more

Ok, turning to you guys for help on this one. I am trying to play Anarchy online, nice game haven't played it in a LONG time, last time I played it I had my computer running Vista.....now it's running windows 7. I downloaded the small client, simple normal game client downloader from the main website, when I run it it gets to about...somewhere between 45% and 60%, not sure which, then I get the blue screen where windows detected a problem and it's dumping physical memory and shuts down. It restarts and the client downloader failed, leaving a partial file, I've tried this with the large client downloader as well, same results. I've tried other online games, sometimes the game won't start up or the installer fails, one of the two, and I'm looking for answers as to why windows 7 is so horrible with online gaming. I play a game called second life, nice game, it was having texture problems and had trouble running, so I ran it under windows xp compatibility and now it's ok except for the occasional texture glitches.

I'm considering going back to windows vista, if that is my course of action I need to take, how would I go about getting windows 7 off and vista back on? If there is another solution I can follow someone please help me with this problem, I'm tired of fumbling around with these online games and finding myself limited to very few because of windows 7 beta. Hi guys,

I'm a new member here and require help. I've put my specs up in profile so hopefully you should be able to see that.

I'll explain the sort of problems I've been getting recently. I used to get BSOD randomly about a month or so ago. Someone told me to do memory test and hard drive check, which I did. My pc was working fine for sometime after that, not sure if it was because of those tests. Anyway, so recently now when I watch video online within about 10-15 minutes computer freezes, screen freezes and I get weird noise from speakers. I suppose the noise might just be because everything froze. Funny thing is computer only crashes when I watch videos from one website. If I watch from youtube or somewhere else it doesn't, neither from any media player, vlc or other. That's one issue.

Second similar issue when I play online game (Cross fire), same thing happens. Within about 10-15 minutes it freezes, the weird noises don't come all the time though after it freezes.

Third problem, once the pc crashes and I shut it down directly, then I turn it back on, it turns on but doesn't respond, doesnt start windows or the screens that come before, monitor also doesn't turn on so just doesnt boot up the system. Sometimes it makes some kind of noise (not all the time), can't describe it really. After some time though when I turn it on it starts up normally.

I've tried to search and try to solve the problem but couldn't really understand what is causing the crashes. I looked int... Read more

I'm looking for a basic typing program or note-taking program similar to Google Docs.

Must be some other companies out there like Google Docs that has typing program or note-taking program.

I tried EverNotes but I did not like the program. The free one you can only have it on two computers. And it saves it every where not just the cloud!!

May I ask you some questions before we start?

Earlier you had a nvidia GPU? The crash dumps upto 01.04.2013 indicates to nvidia GPU (a very known issue it was).

Probably due to those crashes you changed the GPU? The crashes of 24.04.2013 onwards are indicating to ATI GPU. This is also a very known issue, but a worst one. Let us discuss.

BugCheck A0000001, {5, 0, 0, 0}

It is a bugcheck inherent with the ATI drivers. Universal. We dont know why it happens (AMD keeps it private). But we may try to troubleshoot.

Have you updated the display driver in between? If so, roll back to the earlier driver that worked good there.
Device Manager - Roll Back Driver

If not, uninstall the ATI/AMD display driver in Control Panel > Programs and features. Then follow Drivers - Clean Left over Files after Uninstalling

When done, download an earlier version of display driver from AMD Graphics Drivers & Software . Dont install CCC.

Does it work? If not, better you RMA the ATI GPU, as it is a new one.

On a serious side note, using two real time protection programs are harmful.

I don't know of any sites that offer on the spot financing for purchases, but I do know of some that will allow you to pay them through Western Union. (i.e. Footlocker, NFL Shop, Champs Sports) You may want to check with your local Western Union office to see if they have a list of companies that they deal with using their Swift Pay service.

I wonder how can you make sure you will be safe doing these online with any softwares that will help protecting?

I found these from googling, etc

1. KeyScrambler
2. LUA- I am not sure what it is or where site to download, but someone mentioned this on other forum when someone asked for safety doing online banking. But, I googled it online and am not sure which one. https://www.google.com/search?q=LUA&...O1rYHIDQ&gbv=2
3. OpenDNS
4. Sandboxie
5. Secunia- it is not relating but it looks for updates that you had softwares installed.

Of course, along with an anti-virus software, and malware softwares.

Are those the one to use and what else to use as well? Much thanks!

A:Online banking and shopping online

The best way to protect your computer is subjective, there is no right or wrong answer.
I feel very secure using the following techniques.
I use Security Essentials and Malwarebytes to protect against Malware and virus.
I also use web of trust. It will tell you if you are on an unsafe site. This will protect you from look alike sites, etc
Safe Browsing Tool | WOT (Web of Trust)
Secunia is great software that I use
I always make sure that when I am at the site, the address, begins https and not just http. The s shows that it is a secure site
I never go to my secure sites at public places using wi fi, etc. This can be easily hacked.
Change your pass word every few months.
It is my opinion that this is all that is needed.

I have no idea, but I would think that you download the installation stuff from them, and you can burn it to a CD if you want, but you can run it right off your hard drive, and then they email you a CD-key or something. I would try emailing them to find out for sure.

I am considering buying/installing an SSD, probably 240gb. I currently have a very well functioning machine with a 1tb HD and all my OS and software is installed on that HD. I am using Windows 7, with all the latest updates installed. I have never used an SSD or installed one so I have some questions:
1. Is 240gb enough or would 128gb be sufficient? I believe I only want Windows 7 (likely upgrade to Windows 8 when released) on the SSD and leave my current HD alone with all my software as it is currently installed.
2. What/where can I find a step by step for installing the SSD and directing the OS to read everything else from the current HD.
3. I usually use the Hibernate feature and only completely power down every few days. Would that still be acceptable?
4. I assume I would have to purchase a new copy of the OS therefore I may wait until Windows 8 is released before making the change.

I am going to get a CD re-writer for back-ups. My computer place stocks Liteon 40x12x48 with Nero Software.

Have never used a burner before and was wondering if this is an OK brand. I looked it up on the Internet and it seems quite popular. I only want it for basic stuff. I don't really want to go elsewhere as this place has looked after the computer very well since I got it.

Just thought I would check out the views of this forum.

A:Purchase of CD-R/RW

The Lite-On is an excellent burner for the money. Lite-On has been good about their firmware updates. The 40X burner you mentioned was released without Mt Rainier support and with P-CAV recording mode. They added both Mt Rainier and true CAV recording through firmware. You don’t have to know what all that means. Just go to their site and get their latest firmware and you will have the fastest 40x burner on the market.

Ok so I am in need of some new RAM, currently I have 2x2GB of DDR2 800MHz Corsair Gaming Memory totaling 4GB, but one of the RAM sticks is bad and doesn't work. And I don't want to spend $95 on a 2GB RAM stick. So I have $90 left that I had gotten on my birthday, and was wondering what is the best, highest amount of DDR2 RAM I could buy. I want a lot of DDR2 RAM, but not only do I want a lot but I want it to be good quality RAM that will last a long time, and has a fast speed like 800MHz or higher for $90 or less.

A:New RAM Purchase Help

Dont really have an answer to your question, but have some advice. If you are not going to replace all the ram at once, be careful with the purchase. Make sure that all the sticks are identical, especially the frequency. Many, who replace, ram, buy all that will be used at the same time.

BTW a belated happy birthday.

Since it is still a long time before 'Halo' or 'Half Life2' or 'Doom 3' will be released I need another FPS to tide me over until then. Are there any other FPS's out there that I am overlooking?

Ok so I am looking to purchasing my first NAS and I am having trouble trying to understand what I should purchase based on my needs. Here is what I am looking for:

-HDD indicator for each drive
-Gigabit Ethernet
-Hot swappable
-Compatible with OS X and linux
-Capable of showing up as a Network drive for everyone to access

Most that I have researched involve a web interface to set up and can only be access through there such as QNAP. Any chance that there are any that don't involve the web to constantly access? I plan to have like 8TB in the nas.

Thanks in advance!

A:NAS purchase need help

I think they pretty much all use a browser to access settings, but its jut by local I.P. address, nothing Internet involved unless you're coming at it from the WAN side, then you need a NAS with web-access.

NAS drives are usually tucked out of the way and rarely looked at, better for the NAS to email you periodically about it condition. Gigabit is important but so is the underlying power of the NAS itself. Cheap NAS drives with gigabit ethernet can still be slow--usually the more expensive they are, the faster and even more robust ones have a second gigabit port as a failsafe.

Don't know about hot swappable. Mine are in RAID 1 and they'lll email me if there's a problem (hopefully).
Compatibility, some would have thier own format like RiserFS, and I think all mine are now just good old NTFS so there is no need for translation at all with Windows so I'm not sure about standardization when it comes to sharing with those three main OS flavors.
All NAS drives show up on a network once properly configured, with their own I.P. address and name...that's the N in NAS.

I am thinking of purchasing xp. I have built this system of mine and most of it works most of the time but all of it never works all the time. I have a dual boot dual hard drive system. The reason for two os's is because I couldn't get everything to work in win2k pro. Now I am having video difficulties. I have a very full system. I have a modem, network card, sound card, dvd decoder card, scsi card and video card (ati all in wonder 32mb pro), cd rw, dvd,zip drive, usb hub, compact flash, It is my dream to have everything work with one operating system. I would like to be able to watch movies,tv,record cd's at 12x,download network etc. I have been thinking of getting win xp pro in hopes I will be able to use all my hardware and all my software. I don't have any old dos games. I don't even care about games to tell the truth. But I do like music and movies etc. Do you think xp will do the trick or will I just be wasting my money? Also do you know what is involved in becoming a licensed system builder from Microsoft?

I hope I'm in the right forum?
I 'm going to buy a new computer, $400 is my limit. "Tigerdirect" has several that looks like they would fit my needs.
Systemax Ascent KMA3500 ($399 + &19.95 shipping)
ADM Athlon 64 X2 4400+ 2.30GHz
160GB SATA 7200 HD
Memory DDR2 2GB
GeForce 6100 GPU
350 Watt Power Supply
Operating System: "Windows Vista Business"
Startup OS: "Windows XP Pro"
I'm leaning toward this one because most of my software is old and may not play on Vista, and I like XP it has done me no wrong. Besides I'm 84 years old and I don't want to learn any new systems.
WS Office97, Lotus 123, and others. I am not in position to replace my software with the latest editions.

The other is:
Compaq Presario SR5710Y (Refurbished) ($299 + $19.95 Shipping)
ADM Athlon X2 4450e 2.3GHz
250GB SATA 7200 HD
Memory DDR2 3GB
GeForce 6150SE
250 Watt Power Supply
Operating System: "Windows Home Vista Premium"
The Vista is a drawback, but this looks like a great buy.

Any suggestions , comments or pertinent information on these two machines , or others in my price range?.
Has anyone any info. on machines like the Systemax with 2 OS?

I am building a computer for my first time and after choosing a motherboard, have no idea what RAM to buy. I know that I want 8 gigs of RAM, and the motherboard has slots for 4 RAM cards, but I don't know how to figure out how many pins should be on the RAM that I buy. The motherboard that I chose is an MSI ATX DDR3 2133 Motherboard 970. I would prefer a RAM card from Corsair, but thats just personal preference, not necessity. Help anyone?

Also, in case you need more info about my motherboard, I got it at this URL: http://www.amazon.com/MSI-DDR3-Moth..._n_feature_keywords_two_browse-bin:6159420011

A:What RAM should I purchase?

As described in the motherboard description - Memory: 4x DDR3-2133(OC)/ 1866/ 1600/ 1333/ 1066 DIMM Slots, Dual Channel, Max Capacity of 32GB.

This means your motherboard takes DDR3 memory. When an OC follows a number it means that in order for you to run 2133 memory you must overclock, I.e. add more voltage to get it to function at this speed. This is something you don't have to concern yourself with.

Before we move forward why this motherboard? Here are 2 questions that will help you in the process of building a PC:

1. What do you want your system to do?
2. What is your budget?

My Budget is ?40-50, and was just really after some opinions, or whether anybody as any alternatives which are possibly better?

Thanks for any help in advance

A:Help with new RAM purchase

The only specs for RAM that you want to be careful to match are:
Although I must mention that you should not expect to see a real world noticeable increase in performance by jumping up from 1333 to 1600 (or even 1866). Running faster RAM can be important in overclocking in order to get a stable overclock.
Alternately, you could play with overclocking your current RAM to 1600 and save the money. Some 1333 sticks (but not all) can handle it.

...a hardware firewall for an office network. We have about 15 computers connected through a DSL modem plugged into a switch. I was wondering what exactly "unlimited nodes" stands for on firewalls such as our old sonic wall? Will this firewall protect the amount of computers we have? http://www.zipzoomfly.com/jsp/ProductDetail.jsp?ProductCode=251800

A:Looking to purchase...

"Unlimited nodes" means exactly that - the firewall will work with any number of hosts behind it. This is opposed to products that will work with only X amount of computers at a time.

As for which device to get.. This depends on what you want that firewall to do and how much traffic it should handle.

I really doubt that you would have functional internet with lots of computers plugged into a DSL modem. Are you sure that this "DSL modem" thing does not already include a router and therefore also a firewall?

Hello all, i'm planning on purchasing a new computer for christmas from an online store that i feel is fairly reputable. i'm just not sure what type of processor to shoot for though. i currently have a 1.3 ghz Intel Celeron from gateway that i bought off my sister not too long ago. This system is fairly outdated that i know, and i am wondering if I should go with a quad or dual core intel that is 1.8ghz or am i better off with an intel celeron D 3.6ghz. from what i am hearing the dual core is (2) 1.8 ghz cores, so in essence a 2.6 ghz right? on one hand i think that the 3.6ghz would be pretty damn fast, and yet i read articles that would lead me to believe the 1.8 ghz dual core would be faster. i plan on using my computer for normal internet browsing as well as some gaming. i play some mmorpg's like guild wars and plan on getting into playing some half life and gears of war. which of these two processors would be best for a gaming system. These are the two that i am looking at here.

Intel Core 2 Duo 800 / 1066Mhz FSB
Intel Celeron D365 3.6ghz Lga775 533fsb

which is the best for gaming?

A:New Purchase, what to buy

two cores does NOT. i repeat. NOT mean twice the power. it simply splits the load between two processors. it makes it a hell of a lot faster even at a slower gigahertz speed.

i just want to clear that up so there are no misconceptions there. that's a key thing.

if you want game and play something like the half life series or gears of war, you're going to want a fairly hefty processor. not to mention a good graphics card.

the processors you'll want to look at are the Intel E6750 Core 2 duo, and hte Intel Q6600 quad core. you can even look up some benchmarks to show you how they perform as compared to other chips here:

for the rest of the system, make sure you have a quality power supply, at least 2 gigs of RAM from a good manufacturer, and a graphics chip that was very recently introduced.

in terms of power supplies, i suggest the Antec Earthwatts 500watt, the Antec NeoHE 500watt, or an Enermax Liberty power supply. those are very powerful for the price, and are certified to give at least 80% efficiency if not better. so you'll get vast amounts of power, and you'll save on your electricity bill.

for the RAM, get some from Crucial, Mushkin, Corsair, G. Skill, or OCZ technologies. those are the top brands in the business. or at least make sure it comes with it. and get at least 2 gigs worth.

for the graphics chip, i recommend at least an 8800gt or better for gaming. or if you're into ATI, go with th... Read more

well i have some money in hand... and i was wondering in wat to spend it on, this is my current system..

AMD anthlon 64 2x dual core 2.4, 4600
2 x 7600Gt Xpervision gpu/Nvidia
550W psu
M2n-E Sli motherboard
3.5gb of RAM

now i have 3 objects that i am wanting..
the 8800gtx 300mgb...
the new amd anthlong 64 2x dual core 3, 6000
a new computer case with built in watercooling -(was suppose to get the other day but had none in stock)

now i think the case wud b the best as i cud overclock my 7600 and my cpu more as they wudnt overheat and i wudnt have to sell my old case like i wud wif my cpu and gpus... (i wud lose a lot of mony tryin to sell them)

A:what to purchase...

Get the 8800GTS 320mb (I think this was what you're referring to).

This would give you the highest performance boost IMO. Twin 7600GT just wouldn't compete, unless you overclock using LN2, and even that, its debatable.

Well if you have an sli motherboard and a decent power suppy its a pretty cheap way to double your framerates in most games.

You will be pretty hard pushed to find a single similar pefrorming directx 11 gpu for that kind of money,

Hi all. Just finished my new build and am hunting for deals on a GPU. Not looking to spend more than $100-150 (pref. less). Im not a huge gamer but I play. I can play Skyrim on medium settings off the igpu so I would hope the money spent on a gpu would improve from there (not sure how much improvement though) . Im looking for the best bang for the buck.
Asus p8z68v-lx
i5 2500k OC'd to 4.3G
Xigmatek cpu cooler

Win 7 Pro. 64-bit

Try a 6870.
