I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi, can someone please help as EA aren't helping me!

Origin was working fine until yesterday. Then it came up with this error code:

The procedure entry point _except1 could not be located in the dynamic link library C:\Program\Origin\Origin.exe.

So I uninstalled Origin, several times and followed EVERYTHING they told me to do, manual uninstall, do it with no anti virus etc. I even tried to download from a third party website, which did progress more in the installation but still failed with even more error messages!

I have had Microsoft access my computer and they have also tried everything and have confirmed that nothing at all is wrong with my laptop (which is what EA was trying to say).

Its really frustrating now and I hope someone can help please!

I have a Toshiba laptop and I am running windows 10.

It was compatible with windows 10 as it was working for a week or so. It did keep crashing but I changed screen resolution and was fine.

I will appreciate any help, Thanks!

A:windows live vs steam vs Origin ?

Doesn't windows live work with steam games? I got the steam version of GTA 4 and it would sign me into windows live so I could see when my XBox friends were online. (Bonus XBox points for playing on PC. )

Never really used it much so can't say for quality, but I imagine Win Live would be for the XBoxers to stay in touch.

Monday night after returning from work, several problems cropped up on my computer all at the same time after I restarted it. My computer had been running somewhat slow before then, but virus scans didn't detect anything wrong. Here are the problems that I've been having since I restarted my comp:
The first thing I noticed was that my monitor's resolution changed from its standard 1024x768 to 800x600, which made everything appear big and wouldn't fit my wallpaper properly. Also, all my icons were reset to their default positions. I managed to fix these problems and my screen resolution and icon arrangement has stayed normal, except from when I tried a system restore.
My computer has been running very slowly, far more so than before Monday night. It seems like it takes five times as long to load anything (programs, web pages, etc.). It also takes far more time than normal to restart my computer (it even failed to reboot once, and I was forced to unplug and replug my computer to get it to start up).
Whenever I scroll down the page in any window (in IE, Word, Frontpage, or any other program, it does so slowly and there's this weird "ripple" or "wave" effect to the scrolling motion. It does this whether I use a window's scroll bar or my mouse's scroll wheel. Also, a similar problem happens whenever I drag a window across the screen.

Okay, the title sounds vague, but I can give more information.

I am currently running Windows Vista on my HP Pavilion laptop. About a month ago, I started having an issue when Vista launched. After all of the pre-load process had finished executing, I got a message that said that Windows Explorer had stopped responding, and was restarting. Then a whole slew of programs and Windows services went through the same process. Everything from McAfee to my touchpad management software either restarted or stopped all together, and then the computer rebooted.

Now whenever I start up the computer, I still get the same problem with the following two processes: Windows Explorer, and Task Scheduler Engine. The computer does not go into a forced reboot anymore.

Certain programs have not worked properly since. The most notable are IE, Windows Live Messenger, and Yahoo Messenger. IE behaves like I have no active connection, and I can't sign into either of the messengers. Oddly enough, Firefox works just fine - no problems connecting to the net and opening pages.

As I am the only one who uses this computer, I have no idea where this could have come from.

If anyone has any suggestions, please let me know.

Lately I've had a few issues with my computer, it got slower, and some games didnt install properly due to directX errors. So after looking at some forums for battlefield 3 directX errors I read that uninstalling Origin would be a good idea to fix the problem. While that was going on, first the mouse stopped working (keeping in mind it does that sometimes without there being a problem with the computer), then the screen froze entirely. It came back for a few seconds afterwards, then it froze again and i got the BSOD.

It was set to automatical reboot, so I couldnt read what the error was.

Now the problem I'm having is that, when I start the computer I get these options: Start computer in safe mode , Safe mode with internet, Safe mode with leadtext or whatever and Start windows Normal. Which ever I choose will fail.

Choosing the Normal startup will cause the computer to get stuck on the windows login screen with the wobbly win logo.

Choosing the Safe mode (with and without internet) causes it to stuck, it seems to not be able to load some files.

I've tried running the repair windows option, but the screen went black and nothing else happend.

My thread was closed and I was told to follow the new instructions which I had read already. I am using Windows Vista 64bit and DDS is not compatible with this OS. I did a GMER scan only being able to select the three default options and results turned up with zero results and no log.

Here is the original message for review unless there is another set of instructions for 64bit users.

I have been testing a small application called Alpha Blender which enables me to set windows transparency case to case. I originally did a single file scan on Bit Defender and Kaspersky and both came up with clean results. However, I just used TotalVirus file scanner and it came up with the results below:

http://www.virustotal.com/analisis/6...994-1243064377

Do these results mean that I do in fact have a keylogger on my system tracking my strokes? I am using BlackViper tweaks minimum config so I know it may have helped. Just need insight on weather or not my passwords may be compromised.

I have attached an HT log for review. If any more information is needed I can help.

No, not necessarily.

Programs, often do not produce the desired results on 64 bit systems.

Lets do a couple of scans to make sure you are clean.

Please do the following:

As a Vista user I will require that all the programs I ask you to run, be run by right clicking the icon and selecting Run as Administrator. Otherwise some programs may fail to operate correctly

Download OTS**to your DesktopClose ALL OTHER PROGRAMS.
Double-click on OTS.exe to start the program.
Check the box that says Scan All Users
Check the box that says 64 bit
Under Additional Scans check the following:File - Lop Check
File - Purity Scan
Evnt - EvtViewer (last 10)

Now click the Run Scan button on the toolbar.
Let it run unhindered until it finishes.
When the scan is complete Notepad will open with the report file loaded in it.
Click the Format menu and make sure that Wordwrap is not checked. If it is then click on it to uncheck it.
Please attach the log in your next post.

Please download Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware Double Click mbam-setup.exe to install the application.
Make sure a checkmark is placed next to Update Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware and Launch Malwarebytes' Anti-Malware, then click Finish.

Hi all!

Just starting out on this forum, so I hope you can help me out.

I have a program installed that uses a dll. Recently, I started getting the following error message:
"The application or dll xxxx is not a valid windows image. Please check this against your installation diskette." (xxxx being my dll path and name; message translated from french, but I'm sure you'll recognise it, I've seen the same kind on the forums elsewhere)

My issue is not to replace the dll, I know it's not corrupt, but it is in a weird format, which might explain the message.

However, what I'd like to know is why windows is suddenly so worried about this dll, and if there's anything I can do to simply tell windows to ignore it. At which point does windows decide to check this local dll? (the program is installed locally in it's own folders, nothing in system32 or elsewhere)

Hope you can help me out!

Thanks in advance!

A:origin of message : "xxx is not a valid windows image."

Generally this error means you got the wrong version of the dll installed. IE you are running XP and installed one for Win98 and the one for XP is slightly different.

Sometimes this is a path issue and all you need to do is to copy (not move) the DLL and put it with the others in System32

In addition there are a few specific problems which cause this type of error
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/907300

Autocad also has a similar problem for which there is a patch.
So please be more specific.
Is this just one dll? If so what is it?
What application and what consequence?

You should also try reregistering the dll
using your example
go to start / run and type
regsvr32 xxxx.dll
hit enter and wait for it to say success

I had a recent attack by something called Vundo, among other names. Very frustrating. I hired an online expert to get rid of it and she did. Now (three weeks or so later) it has attacked again. My McAfee Security Center spotted it and took it down, so I guess I'm okay. The question is, is there a way to find out where it comes from? I do not open unsolicited email attachments, do not go to porn or gambling sites, use a strong password, keep my firewall up at all times, and so forth, so I am not doing something stupid. I do go to a lot of sites. Is there a way to tell which one has this trojan lurking?

I have written our own little website, which is hosted by our ISP (AOL).

Among the features I incorporated was a guestbook which is driven by software originally supplied by AOL, but the application is no longer available and support for member guestbooks has been apparently terminated.

When guestbook entries are made the following actions are taken, probably standard for guestbook features:

1) an html file within the guestbook folder of the website structure is updated with the entry posted,

2) an email copy of the guestbook entry is generated as a notification to our AOL screen name account. The visible ID on the email appears to be both FROM our account TO our account ([email protected]).

Lately, someone or process has been generating noxious entries; about illicit drugs, sex, or gambling opportunities. I have, by a simple change, "buffered" the posting process by pointing the posting process to one file while pointing the display function to another file. This enables me to "harvest" the innocent entries posted and manually add them to the viewable file.

The question...Can the header information on the email sent as part of the posting process be used to backtrack to the true source of the noxious postings or is that header ID thoroughly hosed for that tracing because it appears to always originate from an AOL server?

Here is the header info from one of the latest entries received:

Return-Path: <[email protected]>
Received: from... Read more

Well,

yesterday i began using google only to notice that when i clicked on any link, it went to a random redirected link where they would be selling something etc.

with that i went to avg and tried to update to test for viruses and the connection to updates was completely unavailable, i uninstalled avg and installed bitdefender for the same outcome.

today to address the problem i went on a forum much like this one and it tod me to use malwarebytes anti-malware, i did this and whatever i have also refused to allow me to even open this.

i then changed the names of all the .exe files in the program folder and was able to open and run the programs, i removed the threats as the forum advised me to do and now when i restart my desktop i am getting recurring svchost.exe application errors.

I attemtped a system restore but it appears to have gotten their to as it assures me that i need to restart my computer which inevitably leads me back to the same error message.

if anyone could talk me through the repair of my pc in terms that i am an outside chance of understanding that would be absolutely brilliant.

forgive my naivety in advance as i may struggle.

I'm using uBlock Origin, it's light and simple to use. I used in the past all of these adblocker and I think uBlock Origin is the Best. What is your favorite ad blocker? The light is more uBlock Origin also in your opinion?

A:uBlock Origin Vs Ghostery Vs ABP

I have mixed experience with uBlock O. Not all pages render properly. ABP works fine out of the box. Ghostery is not an ad blocker. You can use some of its features but basically obsolete if you are using an ad blocker already.

ABP is a bit heavier than uBlock O but then again, hardly noticeable unless you running 10+ tabs and have a mid end or low end system.

Ghostery I would just steer away from it, plain and simple, due to their policy (google it for more info).

Voted ABP based on 3 options above.

I have an infection of unknown origin. Problems just started to appear when I logged in this morning.
Attached are the requested reports from the Preparation guide. (attach.txt, DDS.tct and RootRepeal report.txt

My system was already equipped with AVG antivirus, Malwarebytes, and SpyBot Search and destroy.
However, this morning my computer was acting extremely sluggish so I started Malwarebytes. As was killed as soon as it started. I tired to start it again but is received the windows message stating that I do not have permission to run this program.
The same thing happened with Spybot and AVG.

I uninstalled Malwarebytes and reinstalled. Then I rebooted in safe mode and ran malwarebytes which found a bunch of problems that were quickly fixed.

I rebooted into windows (not safe mode) and installed Spybot S&D. After install it will not run Update. I manually update from safer-networking web site download. Spybot did not find any problems.

Then I try to reinstall AVG free 8.5 (build 409 - 8/7/2009) but I get and error during installation..
Error: Action failed for file avgwdsvc.exe: starting service....
Error 0x8007041d

Then I tried to install 30 day trial of Kaspersky but after installation the software will not run...
From Event Viewer:
EvenID: 7000
The Kaspersky Anti-Virus service failed to start due to the following error:
The service did not respond to the start or control request in a timely fashion.

AVG installs and runs properly. SpyBot S&D can do updates. If I could only figure out how this Trojan got past my defenses in the first place then I could close that door also. This problem is solved. Hi, i am new here, sorry if i am violating some rule, but my problem is urgent, because if this problem is caused by my new HDD i need to send it back to Amazon. So, let's talk about my problem:
I have my PC since 2011 and never had problems, in May my hard drive is gone and i had to buy a new one (This: Western Digital WD10EZEX Caviar BLUE 1 TB), yesterday i was downloading a Linux distro using Internet Download Manager, i went to the kitchen and when i back to the PC i had a BSOD, i thought it was only a case, so i just rebooted and tried to download again and no problems. This evening, i was download a game in origin, happened the same thing but i forgot to make a photo... and now i am here, someone can help me?

Attacched you can find my log, thanks in advance.

I Have 3 partitions in my HDD (4 if you include Windows extra partition with 100 MB) 1 for Windows, 1 for Linux Mint and one for general data

A:BSOD While downloading (Don't Know if is due to origin)

There are no dump files.

Follow these instructions and choose Small Memory Dumps.

Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD

Make sure you don't use any software cleaning programs like CCleaner for the time being as they can remove .dmp files.

Check in these directories.
C:/Windows/minidump
C:/Windows/memory.dmp

Minidumps can be compressed in a zip file after being copied to the desktop then uploaded to Seven Forums directly.

Kernel Memory Dump (memory.dmp) requires being uploaded to a file sharing website like OneDrive.
Then post the download link in your next reply.

It started happening after the Nvidia display driver auto-updated. I rolled back to the older driver version with a clean reinstall. The frequency of BSOD decreased from once per hour to once per day. The zip file is attached as advised to help with debugging.

BTW, Avast thinks that the zip file making exe is a virus.

A:BSOD playing Dragon Age Origin

Hi DKSSG & welcome to the forums ^_^,

I am really sorry for the delayed response. Every one of the BSOD Analysts are very busy with life

Unfortunately, the ZIP file does not contain any Dump files and there is no event in Event Logs as well that a dump file was generated. Kindly follow the below guide and make sure that your system is setup for generating the dump files (Minidump Files) -
Dump Files - Configure Windows to Create on BSOD - Windows 7 Help Forums

Also, see if you are able to find any dump files at the path - "C:\Windows\Minidumps". If there are any dump files, kindly ZIP them up and upload with your next post.

Does the BSOD occur only while playing Dragon Age Origins?

And regarding the Zip File making EXE a virus, that's a false positive

On this computer, we have Origin (if you don't know already, it's EA Games' equivalent of Steam), and two accounts we use it with. One is my friend's and the other is mine. And he recently downloaded Battlefield 1942 to his account. Thing is, our internet is painfully slow (I know, sucks to use it) and it took him about 13 hours to download it. I wanted to put it on my account also to play it, but I can't figure out how to put it on my account and play it from Origin without re-downloading it.

PS: This isn't a piracy act. If you haven't heard by now, BF1942 was made free for its 10th anniversary in November

I originally posted this in the Web and Email forum, but I have received no responses, so I decided to post it to this forum.

OK, I have a Windows 10 Pro 32 bit HP touchscreen computer, Intel Core 2 processor, 4 GB RAM.

Supposedly, uBlock Origin is available for Edge. When I search the internet I see many articles saying so. However, when I try to install it (Edge/Settings/Extensions), all I get is:

"Something happened on our end. Try again later." No Numerical error message.

So my question is, is UBlock Origin really available for Edge? I haven't found anything using Google or anything in this forum (or the Web & Email Forum) that describes this problem.

I've been using uBlock for the past year and I've had no problems with it. It is in my opinion better then Adblock, It really does use less resources and has lots of configuration options. Although i did just stumble across another Adblocker called 'Adguard AdBlocker' which advertises to use even less resources then uBlock Origin and has a larger tracking filter then Ghostery and Disconnect. It really caught my eye, and i was wondering if i should switch to Adguard. Has anybody else used this extension before or is currently using it that can clarify that this is in fact better then other Adblocking extensions?

A:Is Adguard AdBlocker better then uBlock Origin?

I gave Adguard a test a while back but returned to using uBlock which worked better for me.

My computer is running unbearably slow - so slow that I cannot even download email without it timing out. Hopefully I'll see a reply to this message on your website since no guarantees of getting to email (I had to go to a neighbor's house to send back initial registration email). This all started with a persistent and consistent address suddenly appearing in the Automatic Configuration option under LAN settings in the Internet Options portion of Explorer. Hello,

Windows 10 machine on home wired 'Powerline' network.

I was recently trying to start my streaming software (Universal Media Player) to stream a video from the Desktop PC to my PlayStation 3 via wired network. I had various issues connecting when I noticed that the IP address of the application broadcast looked odd. The IP address was 169.254.99.243. I started searching around the network properties and found that I had two network adaptors. One I don't recognise: "Cisco AnyConnect VPN Virtual Miniport Adapter for Windows x64".

I immediately disabled the adaptor and the media server began working again.

I re-enabled the adaptor and restarted the computer. I checked the 'Network' section of My Computer to find a 'Phone' called 'angler' listed the properties of which stated it was a Nexus 6P - and my household doesn't have a Nexus 6P in it. I presume this could be related, or it could be another problem with an intrusion into my wireless network. The phone disappeared within a minute of me spotting it in the network and double clicking on it.

I haven't heard of something elaborate like this before - but at the moment something feels very off with this. To the best of our knowledge we have never used Cisco VPN software and we cannot trace the source of this network adaptor. There is no Cisco software installed on my machine.

Have I been hacked/infected with something?
