Forever loading web browser

Q: Forever loading web browser

This always happens when after i watch couple videos from youtube and then the internet stops working. The browser takes forever to load. The loading bar just keeps spinning doesnt load the page at all. This happens to all the web browsers. The internet is connected but it doesnt work at all. Its not only the browser, the online games i play take forever to log in. It runs for 3hours and nothing happens. When ever this happens i have to restart my computer to make the net work again. I have already tried re installed windows since it thought it was a malware but problem is still there
Could you please help me fix this...
Thank you

Preferred Solution: Forever loading web browser

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi. I have an old Compaq laptop (says Presario A900 on it) running on Vista. A while ago, it froze, so I had to press the power button until it turned off. Now, when I turn it on it starts up normally with the black screen and the 30 secondseconds to start Windows regularly. I can log in fine, but if I click on Chrome and search something, it freezes. Sometimes I don't even get that far. I click on the Start button and the blue loading circle comes up. It doesn't do anything after that. The circle keeps going like something's loading. Occasionally it will freeze and I have to manually restart it. What's going on? Thanks.

I have windows 98 with ie6 and firefox 2 installed. My problem is that oftentimes it takes 2-3 minutes to switch from one open window to another or to open a new web page. My computer whirs and clicks forever and while it is doing this I can't do anything else ecept press alt-ctl-del to end the process and even that takes a long time to accomplish.
At first I thought it was a problem with ie6 so I installed firefox. Firefox worked fine the first few days but then it began behaving like ie6 taking forever to navigate between open windows. I tried disconnecting from the internet by turning off my dsl modem but the 'puter just kept whirring and clicking.
I ran a reg scan with cc and it reported no issues.
Any ideas?

Ok.well my ASUS laptop with Vista home premium is having some trouble.. first notice windows freezes ... next vista welcome window stays on loading.......... till I turn it off and restart in safe mode with network... Then the unthinkable ... all my pictures, all my documents, all the restore points, ALL anything that I added to this hard drive for the last 4yrs.... IS GONE!!! and now nothing is saved after I reboot.( ok Im in safe mode) I have reloaded the service pack 2... found out some drivers can not update. I looked at the event manager ... OMG that list is too long. I remember sometime last year their was an Microsoft update that wiped everything off like it was a new laptop...But I had a restore points to go back to fix that one. 2 days ago my laptop appeared to be ok. Turned it off that night and in the morning all was gone. But I am hoping the light is still on at the end of the tunnel for this hard drive.

Please note, I am typing on a DIFFERENT computer (IP address) than my other PC that has the problem - specifically a Windows 10 "Forever Loading" Problem, I believe. It is a 3 year old DELL, with Windows 10, so I cannot run the above suggested SysInfo Utility.

That said, I had an automatic regular Windows 10 update, which took forever and ever. While it seemed to be finishing; my DELL logo appeared, then I get my welcome screen and it allows me to very S-L-O-W-L-Y type my password; then my center screen wallpaper appears, but never any of my desktop icons. After much passed time, my task bar appears but no icons on it. The time appears in right hand corner of task bar, but the real time never advances. Lastly the dreaded spinning blue circle remains in the blank Task Bar. I have tried unplugging overnight, restarting, and the same thing. The Windows start button appears on task bar, but nothing works, because nothing has loaded on task bar or on my desktop. I have left it on overnight in hopes of a wishful escape of this endless loop it is stuck in.

Checking online, I have tried various suggested processes (getting to Task Manager, trying to restart explorer.exe, running new task (msconfig), tried to get to Safe boot to reboot, but cannot do any of those things due to the dreaded spinning blue circle. I simply can't get anywhere except to Task Manager, but nothing actually works within there either. Help Please?

I just recently upgraded my computer to Windows 10 but I noticed my Outlook 2010 emails have been a bit slower and then today it says loading profile when I try to open it but my emails won't open. This is not the first time that it has happened. Anyone know what it could be? I'm thinking there is something running in the background that is preventing it from opening it up.

So i got this Dell Laptop to fix...weird thing is

it will be stuck on the load-up screen for 15-20 minutes or more, then logging in will take another 10-15 minutes...

I tried looking into the system configuration through msconfig

disabled most of the startup programs down to the two most important ones
also played around with the "system services", but no luck...both will still startup the laptop really slow...

it has a 1gb ram and all updates/drivers are installed...

i also tried swapping the hdd with another laptop, still the same thing. I do not suspect it to be a bad hdd

but even after swapping the hdd, it will still take a very long time to load up and login....

occasionally the explorer.exe will shoot up to 50% CPU usage without me doing anything...

i believe these two are related in some way...

any ideas...thanks in advance

IE, Opera, FF Chrome, all have problems loading the same websites while other sites load right away.

Just for an example... racerxonline.com will not load on any browser, but only on one of my windows 7 pc. My second win7 and linux pc work fine using the same router and all three computers are hard wired to the router as I don't have or use WIFI.

Here are the steps I have taken to resolve the issue with no success over the last couple of days:

1 Deleted and reinstalled all browsers with no add ons.
2 ipconfig /release..... ipconfig /renew
3 I use ccleaner all the time
4 swapped ethernet cables with the two other computers
5 swapped ethernet ports on router that other two computers work fine with
6 checked all start up programs in start up folder and all basic nothing new or odd
7 ran full scan of malwarebytes, awdcleaner, avast, windows defender on and updated
8 said on occasion %&$#@ but that didn't work either

Could I possibly be infected? I am having problems with accessing any and all webpages. At first, I thought it was just a Mozilla issue, but the same problems occur in Google Chrome and IE. I will type in a URL and press enter and sometimes it will take forever to load, and if I click on the link again, it will bring it up instantly. It seems as if it is stalling. And other times, if I click on the link for a second time, it will say "done" on the bottom left hand side, but it will certainly not be done! I have been having this problem for weeks now and it is driving me crazy!
I have run Spybot, Adaware, Spyware Doctor, Malwarebytes, my AVG antivirus scan, and the free Symantec one on the website. Nothing has been found wrong!
I tried restoring my computer to 4 different restore points but they were all unsuccessful.
I tried uninstalling Zone Alarm, thinking that was causing the problem, but nothing changed. I had k9 web protection on my computer, but uninstalled it weeks ago and I am still having problems. I have the same problem running my wireless or using an ethernet cable; on my network and at a friend's house.

So i'm having an issue where my cover photo and profile picture won't change on my laptop (aka lockscreen). The pictures currently on my lockscreen were my old cover photo and profile picture on facebook, and have since changed on facebook. I uninstalled and then re-installed facebook. I made sure profile sync was turned off and everything. Now, I changed my profile picture for microsoft, and that worked, except on the lockscreen page it is the same old facebook picture.
With the lockscreen wallpaper, it will not let me change it at all. In the personalization settings, it will let me browse for a picture, but will not load the preview.
I have tried everything. I've spent two days on the forums trying to figure this out. I have done the sfc /scannow several times. I have checked for virus. I checked to see if the new update messed with it, and I couldn't find the exact update everyone else was referring to; it didn't exist on my computer. The only thing that worked at all was when I did the registry editor, and disabled the lockscreen altogether. (computer>HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE>SOFTWARE>POLICIES>MICROSOFT>WINDOWS) I didn't have a personalization file, so I made one and added the NoLockScreen option and set the hexadecimal value to 1 to turn the lockscreen off.

About a week and a half or so ago loading media files takes forever. Whenever I click on a MP3 or AVI file it takes about 30 secs before it loads. In the meantime I get a Windows Explorer has stopped responding dialog and I can either shut it down or wait for it to load.

I've run Spybot, Adaware, and installed ZoneAlarm. I keep getting a message that my computer is trying to access another comp on my network.

I've also tried restoring to an older restore point with no luck. I have no idea what may be causing this. Any help would be massively appreciated.

Hi guys. I'm having some wierd problems with firefox. I don't recall/remember these ever happening when i first used it. But I notice that in forums, for example, if one image is repeated multiple times, it will actually go through the trouble of loading each one, one by one.

In internet explorer 6 and Opera, the very same pages load HELLA fast.

As the title says bringing up a YouTube page doesn't load all thumbnails including my own in the top left and users/videos ones. Page looks like this:

This happens in Chrome and Firefox. It started about a week ago apparently when some script froze and I forced it to stop running. It's really annoying since it usually stops comments loading and videos too sometimes. I did try wiping everything and reinstalling FF if you're wondering.

Sorry if this is the wrong subforum to post in, not sure where else to post.

Howdy all...

For some reason IE (At times) takes forever to open up a page.....in fact, whilst I was trying to get onto this site it took long enuff that I cancelled it and now I'm on Netscape (which I'm not real crazy about). I've cleared out my Temp. Internet files, cookies, done an IE repair....etc, etc.. but sometimes IE just crawls like a snail. I have DSL and it seems to be functioning just fine.....

I have noticed in the past that when I run a Broadband test with Broadband Wizard, and then I click on IE, it'll open up my homepage very fast....but the next time I try to go to a different page it'll just sit there with the little globe thingy spinning, and then
eventutally it'll open up the requested URL. It's not the URL ...because I've tested it with Netscape and it'll open up very fast.

I don't wanna change browsers....I've tried that before. I just want my IE to work correctly. Can any of you sage's give me a hand with this problem ????

PS My ADSL upload is 320 and down is 480........in case you need to know that..I just checked it

So, it started with FF not loading pages very well, "waiting for www.google.com" and such. Switched to IE and google Chrome, same problem. Hi all. I have four pc's at home, two desktops and two notebooks. Suddenly, one of my notebooks takes forever to open IE. I'm running Verizon DSL and the notebook is a Lenovo ThinkPad Z60M, WinXP Pro. When I open a browser, it says at the bottom "detecting proxy settings." It sits like that for at least 10 seconds before opening my home page. Any ideas why this machine has to detect proxy settings and how I can make it do that faster? I know, I know, 10 seconds, gee, what a pity. I'm just used to instant browsing and the 10 seconds is very irritating.

None of my other systems takes more than 1 second to open my home page.

Thanks in advance for your suggestions.

I'm having problems with what seem to be affecting all the browsers I use (Opera, IE, Chrome, Firefox). Most pages seem to load normally, but in many cases, when I click a link, it can take up to nearly a full minute to load. Sometimes I can re-click the link and it will load...but usually the browser will continue to think and think and think. We run a full scan every Friday and nothing comes up. I've cleared caches and and histories and such...but to no avail. Per the suggestion if bleepingcomputer, I ran a scandisk but it appeared nothing was wrong. Is there any hope for browsing normalcy for me?

Hi, Does anyone know why it would take 15 minutes to open an Internet browser, and then another ten minutes of getting the "Page Unresponsive" message before my Internet will work on my laptop? It's only a year old. There's nothing wrong with my Internet connection- it works fine on my phone, very fast. This happens on wifi and when my laptop is plugged in, and it's only been happening for the last month. It happens on Chrome and IE.
After waiting the 20 minutes or so, then the Internet will work perfectly fine, but I'm not keen on waiting 20 minutes for my browser to open :(
Can anyone suggest anything?
Thank you.

Annoying, isn't it?
HOW do we forever get rid of this pox upon humanity, oh woe?
Even after installing the certificate into the root store, and shutting off all the suggested "fixes" in IE Options (mixed content off, server revocation off, check this and that off, etc etc etc)
this stupid pointless annoying message (THEY ARE INTERNAL SERVERS HELLO GO AWAY STUPID RED BOX) won't leave.
Please don't waste everyone's time by suggesting putting the sites into trusted servers (like anyone wants to continually answer the also annoying popup asking if we want to open a site in the trusted zone
THAT'S EVEN WORSE).   THE QUESTION is how to shut off the warning on all browsers on all OS (except for Edge in W10 of course, they made it even worse there)   Like you know, in the registry, for example.  On Windows 7 IE 11, for example.
Hey, thanks ahead of time, you're great.

When I have a few webpage tabs open and open a link into a new tab I often now get the message loading and the browser hangs - so I have to exit all tabs and restart the browser

This started a few weeks ago, and I have just looked into - I remember downloading some drivers to support a forum poster and as with a lot of sites - the download link was for a download manager (which I usually avoid)

In the past having 3 or 4 sessions of google chrome open each with 10+ tabs
Internet explorer open with 6 tabs
was not an issue and the PC worked really well

I have removed all unwanted programs and also all unwanted startups

Cleared Internet Explorer and Chrome temp files/etc

restarted the PC and posted the logs here

Looking at HJT this I seem to have a download manager of

Anyone else have difficulty with web browsers (particularly those that operate on port 80) not responding for a while (like 5-10 minutes) when Windows starts? The browsers will say LOADING but after 5-10 minutes, it will fail as operation timeout. Then when I refresh, it will load properly immediately.

It happens in all the browsers (IE, Chrome, Firefox). And it's not a machine problem because it happens in both my desktop and laptop. And desktop runs in x64 while laptop is in x86. So completely different environments having same kind of response.

I really wish I know why it's happening. It's really annoying. Internet is fine (both wired connections) and other ports are fine as well because my email softwares (outlook and WLM) and my gtalk works fine during that period. So does my Google Drive and Sky Drive. Only the browsers seem to have this problem.

I would appreciate any kind of suggestions on fixing this issue. It's really annoying me especially on the laptop when I boot it up to do something and have to wait 10 minutes to browse the Internet.

Kind Regards,

A:Browser Not Loading

I've had maybe somewhat of the same issue as you. Not sure if this helps but its worth a look. Anyways I've had the situation where I go to a website, but my browser says its loading but I only see a blank page. When I pressed the refresh button, it worked. I called Time Warner Cable (my ISP provider) and a technician came by and inspected my internet connection. He said the problem was that the cable modem was receiving incomplete data and that in the modem log showed errors in receiving data. A new modem was replaced and everything was fast again.

It could be your router, DSL, or cable modem because both of your computers suffer the same issue.

A month ago, I was using internet explorer, and it started crashing every 5 minutes. THis problem got so worse that whenever I tried opening it, it would close the window automatically. I downloaded Mozilla FireFox, and its been all good for a month until 2 days ago, it stopped working as well. Whenever I bring up the browser, nothing loads, when i enter in link, at the bottom left it says "STopped." INternet Explorer exits out itself when you bring it up, and it keeps on popping up messages such as "interent explorer has detected a problem, send error report...etc."

I know this has something to do with virus/spyware/malware/whatever, becuase my dad accidently clicked some pop ups, and we got all tehse ad programs, which i deleted, I ran Ad Aware, Virus, and cleaned up everything, however every time i reboot the computer, stuff that i deleted previously reappears etc.

Help would be greatly appreciated

Why not try uninstalling the Adobe Reader 5.0 and installing a later version of the software such as adobe reader 7. This might be more compatible with your operating system and drivers and hopefully should resolve the problem.

Hey guys, awhile back my laptop started becoming "slow". Upon startup it can take brower windows up to 5 minutes to load. It will freeze randomly without any notice. I can be watching a movie on the computer it will studder, and then everything freezes. About a week ago, I left for class, and came back and it had shut off (battery went dead) Upon turning it on it said "Windows failed Startup" So I restarted it in safemode and it worked fine. So I restored it to a point about 2 months ago hoping that would fix it. It did, but I'm wondering if that has something to do with the problems I'm experiencing now.

A:Browser Loading Issues

I am trying to access one of the website from our client computers. On some computers i am getting the error 'This site can't be reached' 'Err_connection-refused'. Please
find below points for your reference,

1. This web site is working fine in internet explorer. However sometimes it will not load and it will be working again after resetting the IE settings. Where as in chrome it
never works and either reset of chrome doesn't make any changes.
2. I have already updated the chrome to latest version and tried to reinstall.
3. Uninstalled antivirus and disabled windows firewall.
4. This website is working on some clients in chrome without any challenges but the same website is not working on computer beside that on chrome.
5. Cleared the browsing history and cache of chrome.
6. Resetted my IP address cleared the DNS cache as per below,
netsh winsock reset catalog then press enter.
ipconfig /flushdns then press enter.
7. Used Chrome Cleanup Tool and check for any errors and nothing found.

FYI: Sometimes the webpage will not work on IE also with the error 'page cannot be displayed' however the same will be fine if i reset IE settings.
Please note that in some computers it is working fine in IE and chrome which is located beside the affected user.

Please note that we are using Forefront 2010 proxy and its website is already allowed on proxy(as mentioned working on all clients with IE and on most of the clients its not
working in chrome).

I am having issues with both Firefox and IE with very slow loading of pages - I ran multiple bandwidth tests and are averaging anywhere between 15 & 23 Mbps yet in both browsers, pages seem to take 10 seconds to load and then come up all at once. When I ping both my router and any website, no losses occur and very very short latency time. Any ideas here?

Ok, so basically videos coming from youtube and a few videos on failblog will load, but there are loads and loads of videos in which the player itself does not appear to be loading. If I open a page with a video on it, most of the time (unless it's a youtube video) it will just be a white rectangle in place of the video player. this began occurring a few weeks ago, it also happened a while back before I formatted, once I formatted they seemed to load again, and after some time stopped. I tried adjusting some settings with flash player but I haven't had any success. I tried uninstalling Chrome, I tried installing and using firefox, I re-installed flash player, IE doesn't work. Tried updating my graphics drivers, still nothing. Any suggestions? this is extremely frustrating.

My XP PC recently had a Trojan problem hijacking URLs which I removed. Performance has been a bit sluggish since then and now browsers just refuse to load any page. I have a laptop and mobile devices which are all connected to the same connection via wifi running as normal. The PC is connected via ethernet, ping tests with the router and popular sites return about 14ms and yet no sites are loading. I usually use FF but tested with Chrome and IE with the same outcome. The status bars at the bottom show no message (e.g. connecting, transferring, waiting etc) and the loading circle symbol just goes round and round. Tried the obvious stuff rebooting PC and/or router to no avail, ran Malwarebytes with nothing found. Considered reinstalling browsers but didnt make sense with all browser behaving the same way and laptop working fine.

I have no idea what to do. Help is urgently required and enormously appreciated.

UPDATE 1: Tested router and ethernet cable with laptop and ran as normal. Internet works and so I think there is no problem with the hardware. Connecting back to PC left the old problem in place. Checking Network Connections showed as active. I disabled and reenabled the connection and it now shows as having "Limited or no connectivity". Status check shows around 50 packets had been sent and 2 received. Selecting the repair option had no success because it could not "renew the IP address".

UPDATE 4: I considered formatting my PC and reinstalling Windows for a fresh start. As a test to make sure it would work I attached a spare Linux drive I had and booted into an old Ubuntu installation. The same issue was happening there which leads me to believe that a reinstall probably wouldn't help. Does this mean the problem is hardware based?UPDATE 5: I was told to try reinstalling ethernet drivers, so I checked the Compaq Support site for downloads. There was no listed option for ethernet but I tried the modem driver update as a last hope. Running the installer looks like it completes but then gives out the following error:This seems to have had a positive effect. Since then internet pages have started loading again. However, they are still loading very slowly. Not too noticeable on sites with mainly text but pictures are slow, media takes ages and java/videos/games just leaves empty boxes within the site. Its been a week since my initial post and I've run out of ideas. I can't believe an issue like this would force me to have to buy a new PC but I'm starting to get desperate. Any suggestions would be hugely appreciated.UPDATE 6: I've discovered that on rebooting, the Loading problem persists again as before. Then when I run the modem update I get back partial usage again as described in Update 5. Is it possible that if the modem update ran fully and completed then the problem would be solved?

I know this has been covered here before which is how I found the site but the resolution for solving it isn't working for me.

My problem is that facebook will not load any part of it visually on any browser on my computer while it works fine on my other two laptops, ipod touch, SG3, HTC DNA and Nexus 7 tablet. The desktop is an HP Envy H8 1417c with a gtx 650TI card as the only upgrade. All devices go wired and wirelessly through motorola surfboard SBG6782-AC modem router combo with the firewall set to medium, the HP is hard wired along with the Sony blueray and the 360. The network adapter driver is up to date as is java and quick time and Win 10 is probably the issue as it keeps hanging on updates for a 2003 version of office that I have and the updates always fail to load which causes the other updates to not be moved up. Still facebook is the only site affected and I'm at a loss as I've done a flush of cookies and history and cache and this is still a problem on Edge, Explorer, Chrome, Firefox, Vivaldi and Opera.

If there's a way to take control of win 10 updater so I can bypass the office update issue please let me know, if not then can I downgrade back to win 8.1?

A:Facebook not loading on any browser

And to be clear, when I mean nothing visually the window is completely white, there are no banners or window outlines at all, its like looking at a painting of a polar bear in a whiteout blizzard at the north pole eating vanilla ice cream out of a white bowl using a white plastic spoon.
