Lenovo X270 Batteries

Q: Lenovo X270 Batteries

Hi I have purchased an additional external battery. On my battery monitor it shows Battey 1 and Battery 2 I believe it's referring to the actual battery and the external battery When I charge with the AC mains it says 50% charging. When I remove the AC charger it shows both batteries 100% charged Sorry it may be a stupid question but I am confused why it says 50% charge when I use the AC charger when both batteries are 100% charged Thank you

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Periodically, such as yesterday, my batteries stop charging while plugged in. My Thinkpad X270 HN is not even two years old, and I haven't read about any battery issues. I don't understand why this happens or what to do about it. Moreover, I'm not sure where my two batteries are or what is used first. It's quite confusing. Battery #1 will not charge beyond 51%, as I see the icon half-full and the number, yet underneath the 51% it states that battery number #1 is acutally charged at 100% already. And underneath the information about battery #1 is info on battery #2, which states 5% full and not charging at all. I don't understand why these batteries either don't charge at all or only charge up to a certain percentage.Again, I'm not sure how these batteries work either apart or together. I'm assuming the battery icon on the taskbar is battery #1, and when it's lost its charge, or juice, I assume battery #2 kicks in, but, again, I'm not sure how it works. I have no idea where to find the icon for battery #2.Finally, in order to change the batteries -- if need be -- do I have to change both at once, and can they be changed without bringing the laptop into a repair shop? Meaning, if I try myself, do I unscrew the bottom and simply replace them? Thanks,PPenguin

What's the difference between a Lenovo 77+ and 77++ battery?
My P52 laptop came with a 77+ battery, but Lenovo says that it the 77++ will also work.

When I look at the online specs at Lenovo they are both described as 90 Wh.
Is there somthing special about the 77++ battery that would be worth paying extra for?

Thanks! -FRANK

Which version of Windows you have shouldn't affect how your battery is charged up so it's probably just coincidence.

You may be needing a new battery. Do you have anyone nearby who can check the battery for you?

Hello everyone,I have an X230 and I need to upgrade the laptop to something with an i7 and 32GB RAM.I am very happy with my X230, but I have to change it. Dear, I am an IT guy at a MNC and I ordered three X270 in Auguest from a Lenovo re-tailer.after I received them from the vendor, I noticed that I could hear loud fan noise that was usual compared to x250, 260 and even x270 that I purchased a few month ago while I was configuring outlook,. The 3 laptops have been making almost the same level of noise while it's running just windows.  I did not install anything and I ordered them with win 10 pro and outlook was installed as default. Users keep complaining about it cause they used to use x250 but it didn't make the noise like this. the bios update did not make a difference so I could help them so far. Today, I received a X270 that I ordered a few weeks ago from a different vendor and it's definitely making fan noise but it's a bit quieter than the above 3 laptops.  I searched about this issue in this forum and found nothing helpful so I am going to call Lenovo Service Center to send an engineer to compare the fan noise. If you guys have any suggestions, please let me know. I will also keep posted.

I need to buy a battery for my new used X230 and I was researching the 44++ 9-cell.  There's lots of "Genuine Lenovo 44++" batteries listed on eBay and Amazon, but I notice that in the listing photos that are clear enough to read the text, you can see a typo in the text on the battery  on many of them. I assumed that is an obvious indication that the battery is fake. Now, reading through an old post here where someone asked about this kind of battery, a mod says it's genuine. What should I know about buying a good battery for this laptop? None of the 44++ "Genuine Lenovo" batteries on Amazon have particularly good ratings and a lot of reviewers say that the battery loses capacity over a few months.  Is that because they're old stock.  Is there any guarantee that if I buy one directly from Lenovo (the most expensive way to buy it) it won't be old stock?  They don't have very enthusiatic ratings. Are there any generic/non Lenovo manufactured 44++ batteries that perform well? Thanks for any help

Hi all, I have recently purchased a Lenovo X270 with the 1080p IPS display. I like the display however, I have noticed that both the left and the right edges of the screen seem visably darker. My previous X220 did not suffer from this issue so i'm wondering if this is a model centric fault, or have I been unlucky and recieved a poor display?  One other observation was that the display should appear to be brighter than my X220 as the 220 was rated at 200 nits and the X270 is rated at 300 nits, however both seem to be as bright as each other. Maybe I was lucky with my X220? Both are bright but its the banding issue that's concerning me. Any advice appreciated.

First decent review of the X270. All looking good.Lenovo ThinkPad X270 Review by MobileTechReviewhttps://youtu.be/PxGL1vIX_dw"Lisa Gade reviews the Lenovo ThinkPad X270, the refresh of Lenovo?s smallest traditional business laptop. The X270 replaces the X260 in Lenovo?s 12.5? Ultrabook lineup, and it?s been refreshed with Intel 7th generation Kaby Lake dual core, 15 watt CPUs and Intel HD 620 graphics. It gains a USB-C port and for a portable this small, it packs a lot of ports including Ethernet, HDMI and a dock connector. The 2.9 lb. /1.3kg notebook has Lenovo?s usual excellent backlit keyboard, an MS Precision trackpad, optional LTE 4G and a fingerprint scanner. The Bridge battery system is back with an internal 23 WHr battery and your choice of 3 removable batteries, the largest of which is 72 WHr and allows for extremely long runtimes. The machine is available with a 1366 x 768 TN panel or a 1920 x 1080 IPS display (both are matte and non-touch). Pricing starts around $800, depending on current Lenovo specials."

Lenovo is out of x270 systems ? can anyone recommend a reasonably priced alternative source for these? (I had received an educational discount too). I spent quite some time over Memorial weekend configuring and then ordering a x270 to replace my current x240. The order was acknowledged by Lenovo. This morning I received an e-mail telling me that they couldn?t honor the order since they were out of parts  (well the e-mail wasn?t very clear, it took some time and talking to three different people at Lenovo, several disconnects included, until I was told no more x270 Thinkpads). I was told the units were oversold .. I thought I was buying a laptop, not an airline ticket :-/  I am very disappointed that Lenovo would accept an order and then not fill it. I?ve been buying Thinkpads for the last 20 years (starting with my IBM T560 in 1998) and always had good experiences with the process. They offered a T480s (somewhat similarly configured) for $400 more, or x280 for $500 more  .. not what I?m interested in. Also, I don't have a money growing tree sadly. Any suggestions where I could still get a good deal on a new x270? Should I be considering Dell?s XPS 13 or some other systems? This experience has soured me a bit on Lenovo, sufficiently to consider an alternative manufacturer for the first time. Thanks.

Hi,

Sorry to hear that   I checked the Lenovo outlet and no joy there either.

I see quite a few X270 models available from Amazon sellers - some fulfilled by Amazon.

No idea how their specs and prices match your expectations.

[edit to add] I see some @ NewEgg too.  NewEgg and Amazon are the only online retailers I use for PCs.  There are no doubt others.

Good luck,

I have a Lenovo x201 laptop, It has been sent back for repairs from employee. At first, the fan seemed to be not working causing overheating. I then replaced the fan however the laptop kept shutting down as soon as sign in screen showed up.I think there is a FAN issue where it doesn't run because of low computer usage causing the laptop to crash.I have found a workaround which is a weird way.So if I REMOVE the battery from the back and PLUG in the adapter, the laptop works just fine. I have to care to not unplug the cord accidentally. When I start the laptop + signin everything works fine, and I can hear the fan spinning where before, when the battery was plugged in, It used to idle causing a crash. Now if I put the battery back in. WHILE it is PLUGGED IN and on desktop screen, it SHUTS OFF in a matter of seconds.I concluded that the BATTERY causes the FAN to IDLE which in turn shuts the LAPTOP off because it is thinking the FAN is FAULTY.Now I am on a domain at the moment, so I cannot download a CPU Fan Management Program to keep the fan at a steady X%.ANY IDEAS ? Thanks in advance. Meghz

Hi.. some months ago my UPS batteries died on me after a little more than 1 and half years and then i replaced the batteries from the same store few months ago. The batteries that came in the UPS were 12V 7.5ah (each) and those guys convinced me that 12V 7ah (each) batteries will work fine too.. now a couple of days ago i had a power-failure and the UPS kept the PC hardly 8mins and suddenly started beeping fast and shut off everything even the LCD was running on lowest contrast and brightness and only windows was running so there was no peak load as well on PSU and the last batteries used to give around 15 to 20 mins easily.

So now i know those liars sold me out the low-quality chinese made batteries which cannot even give much backup time and who knows if they're refurbished? they did'nt came with any warranties. Now my real question is im looking to buy some better qualities Lead Acid Batteries for the UPS and i was think if i might be able to use 12V 9ah batteries instead of 7ah or 7.5ah.. i heard that the 9ah will hold more charge and can give some more time for backup (just in case) will they work?

A:Can i use 9ah Batteries instead of 7ah Batteries in the UPS?

Hi boogie , You will be fine using the 9ah batteries as long as the charger inside the UPS can sustain the charge rate on its float cycle (it should be able to ) , When you bought the 7ah batteries were they fully charged ?

I heard a lot of people talking about how batteries of a laptop will degenerate over time.

How much degeneration should I expect over a year?

Should I take out the battery from the laptop and store it when I don't need it?

Also, is there overcharging when you leave a battery in the laptop forever? like the battery continuously gains charge. Can you make it so that the battery stops charging after it reaches 100%?

Hey people...

I was recently thinking of purchasing a laptop from the US since they're cheaper and of a higher quality than over here in the UK...

Then i came to the problem of power supplies... Is it possible to put a UK battery into a US laptop?? I mean, i can always use a power converter with the original US battery pack.... but it's a bit of hassle... especially when i'm at college and i need power quick.

I thought that all the components ran on the same power which would mean that the battery/power supply would convert the local power wattage/voltage to a universal level that the equipment would work at...

That would mean i would be able to remove the US battery from the US laptop and replace it with a UK battery using UK adapter???

I hope what i said made sence :S
I'm really confused and dont know how to explain my problem

Thanks to anyone who responds !
It's greatly appreciated!!

Hi guys, it's little me again.

This is a question about, lo and behold, batteries. I'm on my laptop right now, on it's gorgeous new battery that I Ebayed and got recently. The first day I got it, I installed it right away and charged it. The real issues with this laptop before I got the battery were that the connection from the power cable to the laptop was a bit wack (as in, I have to wiggle it and wait 'til the connection is actually completed) and that the battery never charged, no matter how long i kept it (actually) connected. So, I fixed one of those with the new battery, so I thought.

So now, the battery charges fully, and I can stay off the power cord for maybe 30 minutes? at most? I'm about to try it now again, see if it gives me the same issue.

Thinking about that, I get reminded of my iPod battery, which lasts longer, but still not long enough. Plus, the power bar at the top right corner goes all sorts of places but does not always tell me just how much power is left in my poor mp3 player.

Any suggestions on what i should do with my electronics specifically, or what I could do to increase the longevity of chargable batteries (Li-Ion batteries specifically, it seems) like this in general?

Thanks.

A:Batteries.

Since you have to hunt around different Lenovo sites (and other sites) to find out about these softwares, I decided to make a post to get feedback from actual Yoga owners on how these programs interact, what they do, which ones are prerequisite, and which ones are unnecessary. Please don't take this as a blanket answer. This is just what I have found. It might be right - it might be wrong. I'm looking for others to post their experiences as well. Lenovo System Interface Foundation Driver - Necessary prerequisite (missing driver in device manager without it). It allows the Lenovo Utility and Lenovo Companion to work. Lenovo Yoga Mode Control - Necessary if you want to use your yoga to seemlessly change between all the different modes (laptop, tablet, tent, stand). This software is responsible for autorotating and putting Windows into tablet mode. Lenovo Utility - Recommended(?) This one I'm not too sure on. I remember that I was missing some function that I wanted but I can't remember what it was now. Maybe battery cycle count and health? Lenovo Companion - I don't have this one installed and don't think it's necessary but would like someone else to shed some light here.

ive read a frightening story online about laptop batteries exploding if they are too old and I have 2 vintage machines, one 19 years old and the other being around 14 years old and my most modern laptop being 5 years old running windows 8.1.

The one I most cautious about is my laptop which is 19 years old. (Fujitsu Siemens lifebook s6010) , It still runs off battery but I feel like I'm using a computer with a bomb inside. The laptop has never got hot whilst I used it but none the less, i don't think the previous user has ever changed the battery once since it can't last even an hour.
