I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A:Aspire S3-391-604 with Win8 eligible for Win10?

jlandwehr61,

The system in question is not on Acer's eligible model list, but that doesn't mean that it cannot be upgraded. What that means is Acer will not be providing driver support for the upgrade to Windows 10. In fact I upgraded one of our S3-391 notebooks here for Windows 10 use and it is working just fine.

Hi, I've had my laptop for almost three years and have never had a problem with heat or the fan. Now, my temperature is running at a constant ~78-80 degrees C without any games or anything on. I don't really play taxing video games on my laptop. The fan has also been getting increasingly louder. I've tried to clean the dust out with compressed air, but I didn't see any dust come out so I'm not sure if I did it right or if there's no dust. What else should I do? Thanks

Hey guys, hoping you can help me out here. I've had my Aspire V3-772G-6468 for a couple of years, and it's now out of warranty. Great laptop, no issues, running latest software updates, and latest BIOS (v1.15).Suddenly this morning, after no symptoms or signs anything was wrong, it won't boot. Not only will it not boot though, it won't spin up the hard drives, initialize the CD drive, the screen won't turn on, even the CPU fan just sits there; NOTHING has power. The power light comes on (far left, blue), the power button light comes on, and it recognizes that the battery is in and power is there. I did the standard hold power button, battery out, AC power only, taking RAM and hard drives out. I looked online to see if I can maybe force update the BIOS, but I had issues with the software provided... But beyond that, it doesn't seem to want to even go into the BIOS recovery/update mode. Should there be lights flashing (I've heard this) when entering the mode?I tried the fn + esc/B and win + esc/B and nothing works. Doing the force update wrong? BIOS completely bricked? Motherboard completely dead? WHAT could have caused this? I've never abused the laptop a day in its life.

Hi, it will work as you can see in this post: https://raywoodcockslatest.wordpress.com/2013/11/06/acer-aspire-v3-772g-9829-hardware/ But it will be a headache as you can see in the post, because you will need the mounting bracket for the second HDD which is not provided by acer in the notebook if you don't have 2 HDD's installed by default. Also the 2 screws for the mSATA are not provided. Remember that is an mSATA port not an M.2 SSD port.

Hello everyone, how are you?I was wondering if anyone knows how i can increase the VRAM, of my PC. Apparently, to run some applications ( and games ), i need more than the default 32MB VRAM. I was happy to notice that I can do some computation intensive work rather comfortably with this machine but a little depressed when it couldnt run a few applications that Laptops with 4gb ram and about 300GB hard disk space could run with ease. My graphics card is about 4gb, i think, 1TB disk space and 32 GB RAM but the computer lags when running some games and does not open some games and applications at all. I find this rather strange. Good afternoon everyone. I have done a bit of research in regards to something that annoyed me. My laptop in the very beginning used to run a lot better, (as in gaming) but now the performance is essentialy worse. After a bit of searching, and trying many suggested methods (install a cleaner, clean registry, clear up 10% disk space of each disk drive, installing an anti-virus...etc) I came to a conclusion that the main culprit is probably the fan being clogged up with dust (although unfortunately I didn't note down the temperature readings before, but now for example when playing Just Cause 3 on the lowest possible settings, I notice that the laptop is hot), especially that I didn't clean it since I bought it 2 or 3 years ago. So, for this long time, will simply using a can of compressed air on the vent work? Or will I have to actually get to the fan from inside? If I need too, can someone describe the procedure (with photos and videos preferably?)?  Thank you all in advance.

Hello! Unfortunately got problem with the laptop's wifi after last month's win10 update, not completly broken but working very unconsistent. It's working fine at home, although it seems like depending on where you are and what networks that are around you, i.e at work when starting up the computer sometimes it work, but the wifi-menu hangs up when trying to change network, "connecting" forever, then eventually crashes and the menu don't show any networks at all. Sometimes when starting up there like today it doesn't show any networks at all without doing anything. Info:- upgraded from win8.1 --> win 10 Home- Qualcomm Atheros AR5BWB222 Wirless Network Adapter- driver version 3.0.2.182 Updating the Atheros driver felt like the natural end to start checking, but even though this model is on Acer's win10 support list, no wifi/atheros drivers for windows 10 is available when searching on Acer's dirver download section. Nothing found also when searching for updates at Device Manager. I hope and guess since win10 is a year old now, the current driver is meant to be fine and is nothing Acer "forgot" to do? Anyone knows? Did try run Windows System File Checker, no problems found there. The unoffical site atheros-drivers.com claim to have a "newer" win10 driver for my model, but not really my cup of tea to mess with unoffical drivers, it really shouldn't be necessary. After searching the web I have seen all kinds of symptom variations of wifi-issues on ... Hello guys.So I have this sort kind of problem with my v3-772g... My wifi from time to time as I said in the title stops working, it shows im connected to my router but there is no internet ("limited" with "!" ) after reconnecting to router its works again. Other 3 laptops and two phones works on the same wifi perfectly. But WAIT - there is more! My wifi speed (when its working) is horribly slow, (adding screenshots of speed peaks) when downloading files I get only 1,2-3,6 MB/s max, when with the wired connection its more than 8 MB/s of pure speed. I think i should add that i tried using wired connection but it stopped working after 5~8 minutes... just showing its limited connection and there is nothing i can do about it, after puting the cable back to router its working on wifi slowly as always. Im using windows 8.1 x64, same thing was on windows 10 pro x64. Laptop comes with broadcom 802.11n adapter. Using all drivers from acer site. All of the laptop & wifi power settings set to performance. Router is like 50cm from the laptop. Can i fixed it or should I give it back to varranty repair? (Thats an option, but I don't want it if it is not necessary because of the long repair time) Sorry for my horrible english. Its not my native language.

It kept going for more than 2 hours so i tred to shut it down again and boot the bios, but somehow i can't do that (maybe holding the power button or cutting the power is not a complete shutdown?).   I have an Acer Aspire V3-772G laptop.  Upon powering on the device, it sits with a blank/black screen.  The fan is running, but it doesn't appear to be able to get past POST. The first time this issue happened, it sat like this for about 30 mintues and then suddenly the ACER logo appeared and it booted to Windows.  Once Windows was running, the device worked 100% without issues. The next time this issue happened, it sat like this for about 2 hours and then it booted normally. This time I have let it sit for ~12 hours and it will not boot. I've done a lot of searching, including this community.  This post seems very related: http://community.acer.com/t5/V-and-VN-Series-Laptops/Aspire-V3-772G-bricked/td-p/462723 What I am attempting to do is recover or update my BIOS using the Crisis Disk.  I've followed the exact steps that others have provided (power off, unplug, insert thumb drive with bios .fd file, hold fn+esc, plug in, power on), but the laptop doesn't do anything. The thumb drive light illuminates for about 5-10 seconds, then goes off and nothing shows up on the screen.  Does this model support the Crisis Disk? I can't do anything in Windows at this point, so any BIOS recovery from Windows is off the table.  Is there anything else I can try besides tearing the computer completely apart to pull the CMOS battery?  Watching videos it looks like you literally have to take off every single ... A:Acer Aspire v3-772G - brand new laptop 10 BSOD for 3 days

Bluetooth is disabled. Is this deliberate? If so, why?

Out of 10 memory dumps there were 7 different BSOD error codes. The differing error codes are usually symptomatic of a lower level problem within the system. They are usually caused by one of these things:
- borked (broken) hardware (several different procedures used to isolate the problem device)
- BIOS issues (check for updates at the motherboard manufacturer's website)
- overclocking - You'll know if you're overclocking or not. If uncertain we can suggest things to check.
- compatibility issues (3rd party hardware/drivers)
- low-level driver problems
- or even malware (scanned for when we ask for hardware diagnostics from Initial Hardware Diagnostics or Hardware Diagnostics ).

You can get a head start on the hardware diagnostics if you'd like - they are located here: Hardware Diagnostics

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

Hello, my 2 years old, out of warranty, Acer Aspire V3-772G with WIN10 is giving me a message ?default boot device missing?.I tried to take out the battery for a few seconds, take out the HDD and gently clean the inside of the laptop as well as the HDD from dust. I have also followed up on a thread where somebody with the same error but on WIN8 and a different Acer laptop was told to download the BIOS install file (isST2212.exe), Create a recovery drive and run it on a USB drive, change the Bios to Legacy Boot, move the USB HDD as the first boot device and end up in a WIN8 recovery console. I then went into the advanced options and into the command prompt where I went to D:/isST2212.exe ? A new window titled InsydeFlash V5.37 pops up saying that my current BIOS ID is: Aspire V3-772 version: V1.15And the New BIOS ID is: Storm2 version V2.12Here I get an error that says the following: This BIOS is not for your Notebook PC. The version of ROM file is not newer than that of BIOS.I Went on www.acer.com/ac/en/US/content/drivers where I looked onto Acer Aspire V3-772G BIOS drivers and the newest one is V1.15 which is the one I already have.A LOT depends on me getting back into the desktop and backing up files that are in the laptop. Hey, that's my first post here and I hope that I am asking in the right place. So, I am currently running Windows 10 64-bit and I use NVIDIA 760M video card. I had the latest update installed (the one for the Windows 10 - 352.84) and everything was working fine. Yesterday, I tried to access the nvidia control panel and an error appeared, saying that "NVIDIA Display setting are not available you are not currently using attached to an NVIDIA GPU". I did a quick research and decided to uninstall the driver and to install it again. Unfortunately, I got an error (don't remember it), but it was about that I cannot install the newest driver, so I went with the one that came with my laptop (Acer V3-772G - v332.35 nvidia driver), which I succeeded to install. Then, when I tried to update the driver, again, an error appeared. I did a quick research again and I ran DDU (Display Driver Uninstaller) under Safe Mode and completely removed all drivers including GeForce Experience. However, everytime I tried to install any driver (the newest one or the one that previously worked or even GeForce Experience), I was stuck at a screen saying "checking system compatibility". Somehow later, I managed to install the latest driver for Windows 10 under Safe Mode and to install GeForce Experience after that, but now I am again stuck at the very first problem - "NVIDIA Display setting are not available you are not currently using attached to an NVIDIA GPU" everytime I try to open the control panel. Hi Ashley,

I don't have much help to provide, but I think it does sound like it's an issue with the OS and not the hardware as you were able to install the original once. Hopefully this bump puts more eyes on it, but the majority of people are not on Windows 10 yet to help at this level. It might come down to doing a reinstall when you do find the time.

Hello, I'm Richie. Let's skip the introduction stuff and get straight to business! I've been planning an upgrade on my PC (GPU & PSU wise) Will it be able to run? These are the parts as listed: -Zotac Geforce GTX 1060 Mini 3GB (NewEgg Product Page) (Not SC'd) -EVGA 450W B1 Power Supply (Newegg Product Page)  So just wondering if these will be eligible for my current build and that nothing will blow up?  Thank you!-Richie

A:Will these upgrades be eligible for my PC?

@RichieWhy,Interesting introduction, to the point. No problem, just disable Secure Boot.   The PSU is adequate based  on the previous draw of 65W (GT 635),  your adding just 55W with GTX 1060 (120W total), and you committed an overall 150W increase.

A:Veriton X2611G not eligible for W10 ??

I think "eligible" in this case means "eligible for Acer driver support".  My unoffical opinion (I don't work for Acer)  In other words, if you upgrade an Acer computer that's not on the list, then you're on your own to find drivers.  In most cases, Microsoft will automatically give you the drivers you need during the upgrade.   Windows 10 provides a 30 day rollback feature, but be sure to backup your files and make recovery discs or recovery USB drive prior to upgrading....just in case.   http://acer.custhelp.com/app/answers/detail/a_id/29934/related/1/session/L2F2LzEvdGltZS8xNDQ0MTU1ODA... Edit:  So you can click "ok, notify me when ready" and it will let you know when it is ready (Microsoft has all your drivers).Edit2: As to why a fairly recent computer isn't on the list...I don't have a guess.

I would imagine that it is still eligible, but the only way to be sure would be to contact Gateway.

Hi I have a Switch 10 32gb, it seems to be an eligible device. However, I don't receive the icon tray notification. But, in addition, how could I even think to update it to Windows 10 if this requires 16 gb free disk space? I guess this amount of GB was not even free when I bought it! So, how did you manage to update it?  ThanksFabio

A:Switch 10 eligible, but space will be never enough...

I solved with a "radical" solution and i got 18 Gb of free space after installing Win10 and Office. This is what i done: 1) Back up of all my data (documents, pictures etc)2) Hard Reset of my Switch 10 (Alt+F10 at startup, complete recovery option). With hard reset you'll have about 17 Gb free after Win 8.1 recovery. This will be enaugh for avoiding the "not enough space" error during Win 10 upgrade.3) Installation of the only required update to upgrade to Win 10 (KB 3035583)4) Upgrade to Win 10 by using Windows Media Creation Tool.5) Check for Windows 10 activation.6) Make a bootable USB stick using Windows Media Creation Tool.7) Perform a clean installation of Windows 10 by deleting ALL partitions (also the Win 8.1 recovery). (Power button + volume up to enter BIOS settings and set USB as primary boot device, remember to remove USB stick after first installation reboot, you'll not asked for) Steps 4 and 5 are mandatory because if you don't activate Win 10 by upgrading from Win 8.1 you will have activation issues (the product key of Win 10 is not the same of Win 8.1). With this solution you'll lose definitely your software warranty and support (that covers only pre-installed Win 8.1) but the hardware warranty is kept (i had this information by Acer Support Service). If you want to keep Win 8.1 recovery partition you'll have about 8 Gb less (10 free) after installation of Windows and Office. After installation i... I've had many difficulties upgrading my Dell Inspiron from seven pro to Ten. Now that I finally have Ten up and running, it needs an activation key. Apparently in order to keep it running.

I have the slmgr -dlv report attached. What does it tell WRT my eligibility. If it says no, how do I get a good key? My original product key is for Vista and my upgrade was with a seven Pro OEM disk purchased from Amazon a couple of years ago. There is no product key on the packaging or the disc. I used ShowKeyPlus to get an activation key but the windows install says that it is a general application key (or something like that) and won't work.

Thanks for your help.

Yes, it is eligible for activation. You just have to enter a valid Windows 7/8/8.1/10 Pro product key.

A genuine Microsoft product would have come with a product key sticker. You probably did not get a valid genuine Microsoft product that was eligible for you to use in the first place. Microsoft is improving their product key checking.

Hello. I have this PC, it came with windows 8, specs seems perfectly ok for Windows 10 upgrade. It mounts an i3 3220 w/ 4GB ram.Yet the product is not listed in the eligible model list. http://www.acer.co.uk/ac/en/GB/content/windows10-eligible-models The W10 advisor shows this info:  I don't know what is going on here. Any clue??

Hi, I have just received my new HP 250 G5, with an information slip stating: "You are eligible to receive one copy of Windows 10 recovery media and HP driver media. For more information or to register your computer and request your copy, either use the registration app or go to http://register.hp.com" I have registered my laptop, but cannot find any information on obtaining Windows 10.

A:Eligible to receive one copy of Windows 10

Paris2801 Sorry, but you are misunderstanding the offer. It is NOT for a free copy of Windows 10; instead, it is for a free set of Recovery Media to use on Win10 with your PC. This is used to restore your PC to its original factory condition.

Hi,

I bought a used Laptop and recently found out that it has Volume license Win 8 Pro, which does not allow for Win 8.1 Upgrade... really painful to miss out on some useful apps that only for 8.1

To make thing worst, my license seems to expire in about 6 months. Does anyone know if Volume License Win 8 Pro can be upgraded to Win 10 ?

Thanks

A:Is Win 8 Pro Volume license eligible for upgrade to Win 10

Hi... just found out that Win 8 is not to be upgraded at all!

"We will offer a free upgrade to Windows 10 for qualified new or existing Windows 7, Windows 8.1 and Windows Phone 8.1 devices that upgrade in the first year!"

I purchased a Windows seven OEM cd from Amazon to upgrade from vista. I'm now wanting to upgrade to ten and the installation using a usb stick gets to the screen where it asks for a product key. The OEM disk doesn't have one.
the install apparently will not proceed.

Is is there a workaround?

A:Is 7 pro OEM version eligible for upgrade to Windows 10?

Just a clarification needed to address your question, lbeck. Are you booting from install USB intending a clean install or just running the setup.exe in the root of the USB to perform the upgrade per se? If only upgrading, you need to make sure your USB has precise edition of Win10 needed to upgrade from your Win7 edition.

A:bought new computer with xp eligible for vista upgrade

If your upgrade went via ModusLink, be patient! They have been hit by delays, caused by the most unpredictable of things - people actually wanting their upgrades to Vista! In the meantime however, download & run the Upgrade Advisor from M$ and make sure all your software and drivers are up to spec

Greetings,

Mods may want to pin this for easy reference:

Microsoft has provided a compatibility list to determine if your computer running Windows 10 is eligible for the Creators Update. Here is that list:

https://answers.microsoft.com/en-us...puter-is/5152bb37-f95d-48a6-b7b2-ad0d5c738923

While most systems will eventually get Creators Update, older systems, designed with processors for Windows 7 to 8.1 may not. For example, Adom Clover Trail processors, were discontinued by Intel and were produced from around 2012-2014, so those machines will only get fixes up to Anniversary Update. Search online for more details. Computers that were manufactured with Windows 10 out of the box, should be fine.

Microsoft will provide older processors running Windows 10 Anniversary Update with Windows 10 Updates until 2023. For machines that are newer and can get Creators Update, Microsoft will support Anniversary Update until March of 2018. The cycle is that support for a Windows 10 build will be good for 18 months per each release of Windows 10 Feature Updates for the life of the device that runs Windows 10.

It is also recommended that only advanced users upgrade to the Creators Update manually. The automatic update process includes processor and hardware checks before the download happens automatically. You may bi-pass some of those checks if you do the update manually. You will be asked to review your privacy settings, before the update begins.

I'm ttrying to get the Windows 10 Upgrade, but after going through some help screen, It's telling me that my product is not eligible for an upgrade.

I'm just wondering why that is. I have Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium SP1 that I purchased with a new HP Pavilion desktop computer. I have a product key. why isn't this eligible for W 10? Any ideas?

thanks,
Carl

A:Windows 7 64 bit Home Premium SP1 Product Not Eligible for Upgrade?

Hello and welcome Carl I don't know exactly why but it does recommend you remove any security suites from the machine before you go ahead.

My own personal experience is that one of my desktops upgraded from an OEM Home version I put on but my Toshiba laptop upgraded but would not go past build 10074 and kept asking me to activate it so it could be purely down to glitches or bugs in the system.

By the by how did you get the 10 as I downloaded the ISO and then loaded it from booting from the DVD? As I said I had an OEM clean install to get rid of all the Toshiba crapware - maybe the HP stuff could be causing the problem/s.

For some reason, Windows 8.1. downloader package refuses to see my 8GB SanDisk flash drive as a target for creating bootable Windows 8.1 installer USB media. A 16GB Patriot drive is detected and processed properly, but 8GB SanDisk is ignored. The same is true for the Windows 7 USB/DVD tool.

What could be causing this?

When I create the media on the 16GB drive, only 3+GB is used, which means that 8GB drive should be sufficiently large.

UPDATE: It appears that the SanDisk drive is not detected as "removable", so neither Windows 8 downloader nor Windows 7 USB/DVD tool see it as a valid target. There are quite a few reports of that issue on the Net. So, how do I create a bootable Windows 8.1 install media from that SanDisk drive?

A:8GB USB flash drive not eligible as installer boot media?

Use Diskpart
Clean
format fat32

I had a few SanDisk thumb drives that would not work as install drives no mater what I did. I did a little searching and found out there were some issues with older thumb drives and UEFI, I sent them back to Amazon and got newer units for about the same price and have had no problems with these

Hello everyone I'm currently thinking about getting a new processor for my laptop. It currently has: - I5-4200M #dualcore @2.5GHz - GTX 760M - 10GB RAM - 750GB HDD I'm thinking about getting the I7-4700QM (and NOT THE i7-4702QM or THE i7-4712QM), which is a 4-core at 2.4GHz.What about BIOS compatibility ? I also know about the 10W higher TDP, but I'm currently running at max 75C during stress period. So I'm not worried about overheat. Thanks !
