I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

First i would like to explain that the problem does not exist on my computer...it is on a friend's computer. He doesn't know quite how to deal with the problem, if there is one, so i am helping him out with it. I have done all that i can and it seems like his system is relatively clean. i just wanted to have you all take a look at the hijackthis log and tell me if he is in the clear.

The one entry makes me uneasy is all:
O2 - BHO: SSVHelper Class - {761497BB-D6F0-462C-B6EB-D4DAF1D92D43} - C:\Program Files\Java\jre1.5.0_06\bin\ssv.dll

We have run a full Sophos scan, Adaware scan, and Spybot scan to find ALL of them are completely clean...i mean spotless. i'm still weary...should i be?

The symptom is that sometimes when he shuts his system down windows informs him that someone else is logged into his computer. The OS is Win XP Pro. The computer is fairly new and still runs very well. What do you think?

Thanks for the time you take in reading this.

Hey, over the past couple days whenever I go to my internet I get a different page than my home page (the screen that below). I've tried Spybot Search and Destroy, Adaware, eTrust Pest Control, Microsoft AntiSpyware, EZ Armor thing, and a couple free ones that I've found on the net. This thing is still in my computer though and that page wont go away, and I cant find out how to get rid of it. Any suggestions? I tried the "Free Scan", but whenever you try to delete the problems it says you have to pay the $50 a year or however much it costs. Should I just throw in the $50 for one of those things?

A:Can't Get This Hacker or w/e Out of My PC

Download HiJackThis - this program will help us determine if there are any malware on your computer. Double-click on the file you just downloaded.
Click on the "Unzip" button to install the newer version.
It will by default install to the directory - C:\Program Files\HiJackThis\
If it gives you an intro screen, just choose - Do a system scan and save a logfile.
If you don't get the intro screen, just hit [Scan] and then click on Save log.
Post the HiJackThis.log file here.

No he can't. If your Windows operating system is up to date, then there is not much risk of him being able to do anything.

I suggest you download Windows XP Service Pack 2, assuming your running XP, as this installs a firewall for you.

http://windowsupdate.microsoft.com

Otherwise, you can call your cable provider and ask for your ip to be changed. Most will let you do this.

My passwords are continuously being changed without me making the changes, and sometimes people receive e-mails from me through hotmail that I didn't write. I've been having these problems for a while now, and I don't know what to do.

Here's what I have done:
1) Ran Spybot
2) Ran Malwarebytes
3) Run Firewall
4) Run two different virus scanners
5) Run ThreatFire

None of these have yielded the result of any major threats. I even took down my wireless connection and hardwired instead, but still having the same problems.

I can create a hijakthis log if necessary.

Hi GoldieI understand your concern. Take a read here first. Then, I would recommend that you take a look at this website. It probably looks a bit confusing, but it will easily tell you what status your IP is in. I got a "good" The best way to protect yourself is to use a firewall! Do you have one already? Take a look here. Again you may think this a bit complicated for your needs, but scroll down and there are some links to recommended free versions. Also, you can read there about how to protect yourself using a firewall, and how they function.Another good read on hackers in general and how to trace them can be found hereIt is also possible that this expert hacker (be careful he may just be scaring you) may have installed a keylogger onto your system. You should use an AntiVirus to protect/delete these along with various virus's and spyware. Take a read here about installing a good AntiVirus. If you are still concerned I recommend you follow the HijackThis preparation guide which can be found here. It is important that you follow the guide closely. A number of scans will be run which may well fix your problem. As the guide says, after you have completed the scans that are recommended, please post your "HijackThis" log in a new topic in the forum found here. Please add your system infomation and also what problems you are having. Please wait for a few days and one of our experts will get onto fixing your computer for you. David

I sent an e-mail to my Yahoo account because I don't have any Outlook accounts set up and wanted to see what came up as a sender of this e-mail to Yahoo. Has someone hi-jacked my PC? I thought maybe my DSL automatically configured my verizon account to Outlook. I sent an e-mail from Yahoo to that account and it doesn't show up either.

Someone needs to help me. My father and I no longer speak and he bought me this computer. When I was younger he installed a logger on my other computer where he could read all of my AOL conversations, see the websites I visited, etc. When I was home over winter break he went onto my computer and I don't know if he did this again... Someone keeps changing my pictures on websites and has been reading my online conversations...

For an example as to how I know they are reading my conversations - I was missing a camera of my friends and I talked to her on AIM about it. She got an email about the camera later on that day saying that I had the camera and to keep pressing me to get it back to her.

I have a feeling it is my father, but seeing that I am independent of him and do not associate with him anymore and am over 18, is this legal?

I am seriously thinking of going to the cops with this one... but I need to know, is there a way someone can read my conversations, see what websites I visit, etc from another computer? Are there programs out there that will send him information through an email or something?

I need help!!!

Q: Hacker?

Hi everyone,

I don't make a habit of checking my firewall's event log regularly, but I do on occasion. After checking it today, I noticed an attempted unsolicited connection to TCP port 2106. It says the port is commonly used by "ZMAP" service or program.

It is not alarming to me when I see these kinds of logs, but because, after looking at the network and registrant view I realized that I had a similar incident last year (and because I frequent the registrant's debate forum), I am taking this seriously. I did not report him the last time this happened, rather, I asked him privately why there was an attempted connection to one of my ports in the registered name of his personal business. He gave me a very basic answer claiming that, yes indeed, the registrant is his personal business, but that there must have been a glitch of some sort, since there was no reason why his company would be trying to access a port on my computer.

Is there something that I'm missing in all of this? Common sense indicates that there should be no reason for these attempted connections to be occurring, but I haven't wanted to cause trouble for his business by reporting him, in case, as he said, it was just a glitch.

Well, I run a business, too, and I try to secure the files on my computer, but, at this point in my business, I cannot afford to be extending the benefit of the doubt. Since my IP address is accessible to all of the administrators and moderators at th... Read more

Hi Water Lily,

Welcome to TSG!

What firewall are you using? You may be able to block the port being used by creating a rull in your firewall to block all incoming unsolicited traffic to that port - which IMO should be done by default anyway by the firewall - if it is worth its salt.

Does it provide any means of how to contact the "hacker" to gain the password? There's a lot of question marks, which makes it hard to read from the picture. I'm guessing it was originally made in a different language that isn't supported on your friend's computer. Is it demanding a ransom or something? About a month or so ago my son picked up a hacker from one of his games. He heard the guy say that he was going to hack someone, and then someone started fooling with his curser, clicking on programs, and ultimating he put a program on that wouldn't allow him to get into his Ad/Remove Programs. We got that solved, and we got a program called anti-BO that got rid of the hacker everytime he got on. We also got Ewido and PandaSoft and ZoneAlarm.

We have 5 computers in the house. Son A has one, son B has one, and I have 3, the one I'm on now, called "tulane," and 2 others connected with a KVM switch, "sebastian" and "spiritus". After a couple of weeks of frustrations with the apparent hacker, a 3rd son noticed that my curser was moving on sebastian . . . and then we realized that it was moving as I moved the curser on tulane, and finally we realized that the hacker on son B's computer was the result of me using sebastian.

So, originally we had a hacker, but now we have a weird connection between sebastian and 2 of the other computers, son B's and tulane. Aside from disconnecting the KVM switch, any suggestions would be appreciated. I can't use sebastian unless tulane and son B's computers are shut down, cos he makes a real mess. Thanks,

Xico

When the scan is complete, two text files will open - main.txt <- this one will be maximized and extra.txt <-this one will be minimized
Copy (Ctrl+A then Ctrl+C) and paste (Ctrl+V) the contents of main.txt here.
Please attach extra.txt to your post.
To attach a file to a new post, simplyClick the[Manage Attachments] button under Additional Options > Attach Files on the post composition page, and

Today someone used up 500mb of upload. I don't do torrents so i know i haven't left a file somewhere which is causing this. I installed norton 360, latest version today but still usage is being used. I have disabled my remote help as well but to no avail. I also turned off wireless connection on router. Please help as optus charges pretty hard on excess usage.

You will not get help here in how to reverse hack someone for obvious reasons - but would suggest you get better security for you system. You can get many free utilities from these sites :

http://ww.free-firewall.org

http://www.wilders.org (Security Software.)

If you like you can also do online system scans to check your pc has not already been infected, here :

http://www.pcflank.com - Check without a Firewall. Then again once you have one as it will allow you to see what vulnerabilities your pc has.

Get free Anti Virus software here :

http://www.grisoft.com

If you still have further concerns then wait for more feedback, and if necessary contact your ISP.

Hello,

Ive been chasing what seems to be a hacker on my isp connection for some time, and I think its still hacked.

So I dont give too much away yet  if someone is in my system does this info sound bad?

On intial connection with plugging another computer into my router with the os being unbunto this is what it says....

[Access Control] Device :A2:15:7E 0 1738 MAX 1 with MAC address 00:(I removed this):7E is allowed to access the network, Tuesday, Nov....My computer is named Max, so who Max 1?

On my windows computer when its slow the access logs say unknown with my mac.

Now here is the odd part, ive blocked alot of ports and I keep getting hit with alot of dos attacks and many rst ones.

When I set my lan to only allow 3 connections 192.168.1.50 and 192.168.1.49 and 192.168.1.51 I look which my computer is on, one is for my router, one is for my computer and the I lock out the other connection that isnt used and my computer runs fast.

So what im getting at is all seems ok, when I just have access control on and only my router and one computer is allowed via the lan settings.

Also when I have it on just the two available lan setting my router log in and out seem to work well, and as it used to do it will go back to the login screen when I sign out.

If I change the firmware I can get ahead and run fast for a bit as well.

A:I need some help, sorry to be here. Hacker?

Ok,  I got some more info....

It does appear there is a hidden network running on my system, look at my first logon below. Hacker ran scan from 203.33.121.154  (bb.com.au) before I connect and before my router access control.

Hidden Network Logs on Before I Do And Before Access Control On the Router.

I did not misspell or alter where it says alloe the network, which should say allowed so is there a country out of the us that spells allowed, allowe?

 This is pretty messed up.

Hi,
I need help. A hacker started following me one year ago, could have been later, from a social website. He had access to everything I did online and managed to wipe out a small bank acct. When I discovered him, he downloaded malware that completely ruined my computer. I vowed to never use it again, so I purchased a Dell. Same thing happened. I went without a computer for months, thinking this person would go away. I just RECENTLY purchased an HP Pavillion (Windows 7) and guess what? This person somehow knew when I was online, downloaded malware that made my new computer act the same way the former ones did, so immediately I disconnected the line and called HP. We re-formatted, I installed Kaspersky and BitDefender (which I worry about because they set a password on my settings which I did not allow) -- I had my router re-configured to different settings, ensuring that all ports were closed, renamed it...My ISP provider is installing a new modem which is attached to my computer router and home telephone. What more should I do? This person calls my home number and my cell and when I answer, he says nothing -- just listens. I am afraid to get back online, realizing he was online WATCHING my computer screen! OMG! I am currently using my college computer room- afraid he might tear up my newest computer. I wish I could afford a MAC, but for now, I must use my HP. How do I lock a hacker out of my computer? Should I change my home phone number as well? (I am new to this forum, and... Read more

Ericka:

I don't see anywhere in your comments that you've contacted a law enforcement agency.

We obviously don't know the full details, but it sounds like a cyberstalking issue to me.

Many people are too open and too free with providing private information about themselves on social networking websites.

The end result is cyberstalking and identity theft and other problems.

I believe that someone is able to get into my computer and the reason is I bought it from a Rent-to-Own place and if I wasn't right on time on my payments, they were able to shut down my internet remotely. I have their name after my user account and there are suspicious other user account on my computer. I have to restore my computer all the time and just lost 26 articles for a report in college. What can I do?????

A:A Hacker

If you don't own it yet then they may be within their rights, I don't really know, there must be some sort of agreement that was signed but if you feel they are doing something illegal then you should report it to the authorities. Otherwise, you should just reformat it and reload Windows to start fresh.

Beyond that there is nothing else we can do to help you so I'm closing this thread.

A:Hacker

YOU don't track him / her down - take that  problem to the police if you live in an area where you can trust them.

However - your security has been breached. Change ALL your passwords and any other access codes as quickly as you can. Make sure your new passwords are strong ones, don't use the same password for any two important uses, and consider changing your accounts.

If you feel you cannot remember separate strong passwords right them on two pieces of paper. Keep one piece of paper somewhere safe in your house and the other in your wallet / purse. You know if you have lost your wallet or your purse don't you ?  Then you can use the piece of paper in your house to change them.

If they were any good, they would have at least have been using a proxy, or if they were on a dial up connection, they woud have had a dynamic IP address, which changes everytime they log off

However, you might want to try here

Hello electron4 and welcome to the BC HijackThis forum. I do not see any signs of viruses or malware in the log. There are a couple of house-keeping items we can fix so let's do that while you are here.Start HijackThis and click the Scan button to perform a scan. Look for the following items and click in the checkbox in front of each item to select it:O2 - BHO: (no name) - {549B5CA7-4A86-11D7-A4DF-000874180BB3} - (no file)O2 - BHO: (no name) - {FDD3B846-8D59-4ffb-8758-209B6AD74ACC} - (no file)Now close ALL open windows except HijackThis and click the Fix Checked button to finish the repair.Other than that you are good to go.As far as the port scanning, it might or might not be legitimate. You cannot prevent other computers from scanning your system and the scan itself is harmless. If someone malicious is scanning for open ports, having a firewall will prevent them access to the computer through any ports. That's what a firewall is supposed to do.Cheers.OT

I have backed up my software, my logs and I'm ready for suggestions and advice on how to deal with it. Would setting up a secured system prevent hackers / crackers and other opportuniistic individuals?

Hi Moose,

The first thing I would do is change the default password for your router which is a common attack vector. You can probably disconnect from the Internet to do this, and probably should, once you find out how to do it.

The second thing I would do is configure your router firewall to stealth all of your computer ports (1-65535). You can check how stealthed your ports are by downloading and running nmap with nmapfe (nmap's front end gui) against your localhost computer.

I would visit the Linksys (were they bought out by Cisco?) website and download the specific PDF manual for your router, and do the same for your Netgear equipment to get the information you need to protect and secure your equipment.

Several things have occurred in the last week.

1. There were messages in my spam filter with nothing in the subject line. I deleted them. I got a few more today.

2. I got 4 messages in my email today entitled: Notification of undelivered messages. I opened one and it also had nothing in the subject line. I deleted them.

3. A couple days ago, (I am on dial-up) when I tried to disconnect I couldn't. I got a message that there was another user with programs still running. I am the only user. I finally did C/A/D to get out. I checked this one out on google. And from what I read this could have just been a MS program problem. However, with item 1 and 2, I am wondering if I have a hacker?

I use XP.

Comments will be appreciated.

Save HJTInstall.exe to your desktop.
Doubleclick on the HJTInstall.exe icon on your desktop.
By default it will install to C:\Program Files\Trend Micro\HijackThis .
Click on Install.
It will create a HijackThis icon on the desktop.
Once installed, it will launch Hijackthis.
Click on the Do a system scan and save a logfile button. It will scan and the log should open in notepad.
Click on "Edit > Select All" then click on "Edit > Copy" to copy the entire contents of the log.
Come back here to this thread and Paste the log in your next reply.
DO NOT have Hijackthis fix anything yet. Most of what it finds will be harmless or even required.

Hi!, i was on skype earlier today, and this hacker was able to get my ip using skype resolver, and he threatened to hack me.

1.I would like to know what a hacker can do if they have your public ip address?
Like can they hack your accounts, edit your registry, view your files, etc

2. i am currently using eset smart security, zonealarm firewall, and malwarebytes. I also have Windows firewall enable.
Is that enough to protect me against the hacker?

A:What can a hacker do with your ip?

1. No.
2. Sure.

A script kiddie (only fake hackers, make threats of hacking) can do nothing with your IP. Even if they could, they would run afoul of your ISP as your IP belongs to your ISP not you.

Hi tech guys, This morning when I went to read my e-mails which are normally in my Hotmail account. I find it opening up in outlook and I can not read, delete,or do anything with my e-mails.
so I contacted the outlook people they told me to go to remote techvedic.com and give them access to my computer. They too could do nothing with my e-mails and say they found a Hacker in my system. They said they would get rid of it and clean up my pc, but want to charge me 120.00. As I am disabled and on benefit I can not afford that sort of money.

If I was to format my computer would this get rid of the hacker? and stop him from coming back onto my pc? The techvedic people said "it would not as the hacker has my IP address, so when I re-installed and connected to the internet he could just jump right back in"
Is there away I can change my IP address?

I would very much appreciate any help you can give me
