Q: Idepad Z410 battery always at 99% or 100%

Hi,Have been using Ideapad Z410 from past 6 months. From past week the Laptop shuts down without warning, and the battery level is at 99% or 100%. Only when the unit shutsdown, and when I start up again, that the battery indicator starts from 0 and goes to 99% or 100% and stays there. I have also doen the Battery Meter Reset, but of no benefit. What is the problem, and what should I do.Should I claim under warranty ?

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

I wouldn't expect much of an answer from them, the same happens to the Z510 I have and it happens to the Z500 models before it, they'll tell you to send it in under warranty but that will not solve the problem as it will happen again after a few months and I need the laptop for work, I didn't buy it so that after half a year I would have to send it away for 2-3 weeks, I bought the thing because it is needed here. They need a battery firmware update but that too is too hard for them to do. These problems are being experienced by people worldwide and I am seriously considering reporting them to watchdog here in the UK. They should not be shipping laptops that have known issues and then offer no fix.

I have to replace the battery in my Ideapad Z410.  Lenovo customer service tells me to contact product support, but my machine is out of warranty.  The model number on the back of my computer is 20292. I have tried entering my model# on the Lenovo website, so I can find a compatible replacement, and I get a message that they have no info for my model number. I have tried major retailers, and their customer support cannot tell me what is compatible. I just want to buy a %$#@ compatible battery, and it seems like no one can tell me what will be compatible.  Help! Thanks.

Here is a snapshot of the batteries for your unit taken from the hardware maintenance manual.  From Ebay this battery seems to fit the third list from the top. Note it is of the 41.6 Wh capacity.

Hi Everyone,  So after a few months of use with my z410 I decided to take the Energy Manager's (program) advice and preform the suggested Battery Guage Reset.  After the reset I have had a terrible experience. The z410 will at times not boot up on battery alone, and when I plug the charger in it will tell me the battery is dead, but shorlty after it everything is running it will tell me i have 100% battery. Now - if I were then to "pull the plug" the computer will act normally and get great battery perfromance...HOWEVER - if I plug ghe charger back in, the battery drops back down to 0%. I don't know what to do - please help...I can't win right now with this computer. I love it, but can't trust it.  Please advise - please, and thank you!

Welcome to Lenovo Community Forums!

Turn OFF the computer.
Remove the AC charger
Press the OKR Button
Once the scren powers up , Stay on that screen and let the computer overnight on that screen until it turn itself off because of power loss in battery.

Now plug the AC back and charge it till 100%

I have had my Lenovo IdeaPad Z410 since around January, and I have just recently expierienced the problem of the battery dropping to zero. What happens is my battery will be draining at a normal pace then all of a sudden my laptop will shut down and will not go back on as it thinks the battery is dead. If it is plugged when this happens then the orange battery low light will begin flashing and the message goes from saying "Fully charged (100%)" to "1% remaining (plugged in, charging)". This is quite annoying as I cannot take my laptop anywhere without fear of it randomly dying on me. I would assume I wouldn't need a new battery after only having the laptop for a few months. Also, if you are not familiar with this model, the battery is built in internally so I cannot try removing it and putting it back in myself. Any advice would be appreciated; I'd rather not deal with Lenovo's customer support unless I absolutely have to.

A:Lenovo IdeaPad Z410 Battery Suddenly Drops From 100% to 0%

hi LordMothim,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Based from your findings, it's possible that:
- the battery circuit inside is not working to unload the charge, or
- one of the battery cells have already reached its life span
- the chip that handles how the battery gets charge/discharge and checks the charge level of each battery cell (both are controlled by a firmware) is malfunctioning.

Batteries degrade overtime due to heat and daily use. If you're still under warranty, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue as you most likely need a replacement battery.

Hi, this is just the second day with my new Ideapad 700, and I have just noticed that the right part of it (from the bottom right corner up to the top right corner, probably by the 20% of the width) is the noticeably warm. The left is entirely cold. The laptop is not loaded at all, the CPU graphs are below 5% and the laptop itself is not doing any heavy lifting job. How normal is it?

Hello,I have this habit of sometime puting my laptop into sleep or hibernate mood. So, that's what I did last time when I used my laptop Z410. Last night, I picked up my laptop and turned it on. It started up fine. The user login screen of windows 8.1 also loaded fine. The battery level was above 50%. Then, I connected my charger and the laptop, all of sudden, died. Now it does not boot up. Nothing happens when I press the power button. There's also no indication for charging. I checked voltage of my charger and it seems to be fine.Anyone have an idea of what might be the cause? Thanks in advance.

My laptop was working fine while i was playing (league of legends to be exact) when suddenly my fps went down greatly then i found out the problem was my laptop was running on 800MHz (using realtemp) and won't go up. I could not find the problem much less the solution. When i couldn't find anything i tried the one key recovery to revert to factory settings, but still the problem persisted. I found on the net that most people with this problem used throttle stop so i did too. It was working fine but then my charger broke (my battery is dead too, broke around a week or two before my charger). I thought that my charger was causing the throttling because my laptop worked great again after buying a new charger. But that lasted only for a day. It is now throttling again at 800MHz. I am afraid that something will break again but i can't seem to find the problem. temperature is consistently around 40-60 degrees C. I hope someone knows or previously had this problem that found a solution. or at least knows exactly what the problem is. I  bought this laptop lenovo idepad 510-15ISK from a shop in Greece. I added an SSD and upgraded the RAM the same day following sellers advice that the upgrade won't harm the warranty. The same day I detected that laptop were electrocuting me and the next day I returned the product to the seller for replacement. They verified the electric drain and the technician recovered the original HHD and removed the extra ram that I added so as to give it to the official technical support. I have been told that only if the technical support  say that this is a problem they will either replace the laptop or return my money back.It seems though that the technical support changed the motherboard of the laptop (approved that SSD and RAM upgrade didn't harm the laptop) and they don't approve the replacement or my money back. This laptop is no longer a new laptop but a refurbished one!!!!! I have already gone to local authorities for local seller, lenovo and official technical support for trying to cheat me and I am already contacting with local media to raise the issue in the Greek market about the tactics of lenovo. Can you please suggest me any other ways before this goes public not only in Greece but also in more European Countries?

Hello MArleoThanks for using the Lenovo forums.

Try a static discharge for this, it may help to resolve the issue or at least get rid of any built up static on the motherboard.(If the battery is internal, please just skip the remove/replace battery steps.)1. Turn the unit off2. Remove the battery and the Mains adapter3. Press and hold the front power button for 30 seconds4. Replace the battery and the Mains adapter5. Turn the unit on as normal

If it doesn`t work, open it up again, make sure that there is no loose connections, it may be that one of the cables came loose when you put it back together again.

My Lenovo Z410 came with v37 BIOS dated 2013.I went to Lenovo website and downloaded and ran 8DCN40WW.exeInstead of taking normal time to flash, Windows started rebooting after only a couple sec. No bootup. No beep. No Lenovo logo. Power light comes on. Blank screen (no backlight). After 50+ bootup attempts I sometimes get the blue error message at bootup:InsydeH20 invalid firmware image. After changing RAM positions, and trying the Lenovo "rescue" bootup button, I got a bootup.CPU-Z still shows the BIOS is V37 (ie it didn't flash). I know I have Secure Boot enabled. So, to fix this I believe I need to force flash the old v37 BIOS image. SUGGESTIONS?HELP?

A:BIOS v40 flash failed on Lenovo Z410. No boot (screen blank). InsydeH20 invalid image firmware!

Forgot to mention.I already tried "draining power". IE disassembling my laptop, and disconnecting the battery and AC adapter, and holding power button for 60sec+ many times. It doesn't fix the issue. Also, the RAM position etc, obviously has nothing to do with anything. I was able to bootup with exact same 2x DIMM config as originally.

Some hardware problem, but no way to tell from that info. You could try removing the main battery and AC power to it. Press the power button for 30 sec. Plug AC in only and see if you get anything happen. Could be as simple as the AC adapter is defective but all guessing with technical tests

After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."

Shockingly none worked that I found.

Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.

A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.

To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Worked with an off brand battery also.

Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.

Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

It sounds likely the charge circuit on the mainboard is damaged.  Contact Dell to have the mainboard replaced under warranty.

According to searching results online, this little bug came with early versions of X's and T' including T460. PS: this issue had been successfully fixed with T460 via BIOS update 1.26, hoping it would be fixed with T470 sooner or later. Best regards.

Hi,
I have a Dell M5510 precision laptop for business.  Around January 2017, 7 months after owning this laptop the track pad started to come loose. At first I didnt know why, it was very minor, then each month it started to come off more and more. Around 2-3 months ago I stopped being able to use some of the functionality of the trackpad. I finally took the laptop apart to find out the battery had expanded and was causing this issue.  I purchased a M5510 with every upgrade (xeon, 4k, larger battery etc) and figured I would not have any issues as I use this for work. Has anyone else had similar issues on the M5510 Precision series?
It looks like the battery is very swollen in multiple cells and the trackpad looks like its about to blow right off the laptop.
I'm also not sure how safe it is to use this laptop for business travel now that it looks like the cells are expanding and lithium ion explodes.

A:Dell M5510 battery breaking my trackpad and looks like its ready to explode (4gvgh battery)

So first thing is stop using the computer.  If the cells are expanding that could cause a safety issue.  I would call Dell ASAP and have them replace the battery which is obviously defective.

A:What will happen when i replace my dell 40WAh battery with 60WAh battery for Inspiron 3521?

As long as the battery is otherwise compatible -- and you realize it will increase the weight AND the size of the notebook (while the 4-cell likely fits entirely inside the system, the 6-cell will protrude from the back of the system), you will be fine.  There's also a big reason (safety among them) why OEM batteries cost more than third-party knockoff units, if that's a consideration.

The main problem is that is dangerous and toxic and the battery are indeed defective.
I had other brand of notebook (more than 2) ask me for battery change for free after 5 years from acquiring the pc and completely out of the normal warranty.
Why Dell doesn't mind about their notebook users at all?
Why  they cannot change a battery also if i'm willing to pay some money ( for a service that as been done from other brands and have to be done FOR FREE as it is a product defect )
My notebook status:

Hi ! I need help to determine if I just plug in the samsung evo850 drive with oxdygx cable, onto the motherboard, with the UEFI-bios ask me to initialize the evo850 dirve?  If yes, after format the evo850 as GPT, will the bios manage the 512g pcie ssd as C drive (with windows 10 in it) and evo850 as D drive (data disk)?
Another question is whether hdd password can be managed by the uefi-bio just like the legacy bios?
Also whether a similiar hdd password can be used on 512 pcie ssd?

A:newly purchase xps15-9550 pcie 512g ssd 84 wh battery - try to add evo 850 on to the hdd slot, take out the 84 wh battery

The initialization takes place under WIndows - NOT in setup.  UEFI will detect the drive, but you must use the disc manager to partition and format it.

Hopefully you realize you'll need to replace that 84 W-H battery with a 56 W-H unit (the drive needs the space occupied by the extra cells in the larger battery).
Your existing C drive will be unaltered - if you have no other drives attached, the new drive should show up as D>
You should be able to set a password on both drives -- that said, they're not of much security (they can be removed and once that's done, the data is open for access).  Effectively if you have a need for security, drive encryption (bitlocker if you have 10 Pro) is a much, much, much better idea.
Also be advised:  the hard drive password ties the drive to the system.  If for some reason the mainboard gets damaged, the data will not be accessible without the intervention of a data recovery/password removal service, so backups - of both drives -- are ESSENTIAL.

Can someone help me with this problem? So I just received my brand new Dell Inspiron 15 3000 and the battery is not charging. It says it's "Plugged In, Charging" but it never goes up and stays at 0%. At first I thought I just need to plug it in for several hours but it's been 5 hours now and still the battery stays at 0%. I tried running the BIOS Diagnostics just to see if there are problems and there's none. The battery status says everything is running normally and the Battery State says it's Idle. I tried draining the flea power several times, removing and reattaching the battery, but to no avail. I'm getting really frustrated and I'm really close to throwing this laptop back to Dell.
I read somewhere that I have to update the BIOS but it won't update unless the battery is charged at least 10%. Someone also suggested that Windows 8.1 is causing the problem. I haven't even started using this laptop and it's already giving me a *** ton of problems. Any help would be much appreciated! Thanks guys! :)
