I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have a Vista 32bit installed right now. I updated my hardware recently to make it 64bit capable. Can I upgrade to Windows 7 64bit or do I have to upgrade to Windows 7 32bit?

A:Upgrading to Windows 7 - 64bits

Hi -

I believe you can upgrade to windows 64-bit with the installation disc using your boot order in your BIOS.

So, set your boot order to CD-ROM 1st, then boot with the installation disc inside, and when prompted to "Upgrade" or "Customize" (as I believe that's what it's called), choose Upgrade.

Hello,

I got my licence key with a .ISO from the MSDNAA program a few years ago when I was a student.
It's not an enterprise version, it's Windows 7 Pro SP1 64bits.

Problem : after working perfectly for a few times, my key is expired due to many formating and fresh installs (Note: ON THE SAME PC with no hardware change, wtf ?). (error error 0xc004c020) I read that I may have a "mak" key ?!

Why ? Everywhere on forums, Microsoft support say those key are for IT professionals... I am NOT a professional and got the key through the "MSDNAA" university partnership as a student.

Microsoft Support tells me to contact my IT professional to get more activations. Well... I'm not an IT professional, and I do not have an IT professional working for me. I was a student when I got the key from their official MSDNAA program's website.

So, now I'm basically stuck with a "bricked" Windows 7 Pro key ?

Any help appreciated

I re-installed Windows because I got the Blue screen of Death. I know it's not the Windows itself. I formatted the C: and re-installed Windows, updated the drivers, nothing works. Windows is running normally at another system. I use a lot of external equipment because it's a PC for music production but I can't stand the Blue Screen anymore. I'm losing projects because of it. I want to solve this once and for all with help from you guys... It's Windows 7 64bits Professional.

Hey guys! First of all, congratulations for the forum . Now, I have a 1015pn and two questions: I loved windows 8 on a notebook of a friend, and I'm decided to install it. Should I go for the 32 or the 64bits version? Second, I want to add more RAM, and i was thinking in 4gb, but i had read that the atom n550 doesn't support 4gb. Its true? If I put a 4gb dimm in my 1015pn, what will happens?
Thanks!

A:Windows 8 32 vs 64bits on Asus 1015pn

Hello danielpmorgado and welcome to TSF,

Your laptop has a maximum RAM capacity of 2GB. If you attempt to install a 4GB density DIMM (ram module) then the computer will fail to POST.

Because of the limitations of your netbook, I will suggest the 32bit version for your netbook.

I've been having some BSOD in the last couple of days that are driving me crazy. They happen when I leave my laptop iddle for some minutes (probably when it goes to suspended mode or hibernation - I'm not around when they happened so I can't be sure).

System: Laptop Toshiba L505-13E

? Age of OS installation - I have formated the HDD and made a new clean install

What date did you install/reinstall Windows 7?
The perfmon report shows issues with the ShrewSoft VPN software (and some of the dump files blame it also). Please uninstall it and don't reinstall it until we're finished troubleshooting.

Although I suspect the ShrewSoft as being the cause, some of the dump files blame the drivers for your network cards (both the wired one and the wireless one). Please
- download fresh copies of the drivers (both wired and wireless) from the Toshiba website
- uninstall the current wired and wireless drivers from your system.
- install the freshly downloaded copies and monitor for further BSOD's.

Hi, I am a little bit desperate here. I am trying to install Windows 7 (Complete) 64bits on a RAID 1, Controller JMicron.

I've tried almost everything with no success.

My mobo is a GA-965P-DS3, I have two Western Digital 250Go hard drives. The RAID controller is a JMicron chipset.

I've tried to use mobo drivers with no success, I've downloaded the drivers directly from JMicron with the same result. My bios is set to boot on my hard disk first (I use F12 to boot from CDROM).

The only drivers that "almost" worked was the 32bits driver found on the Gigabyte website and it worked until the first reboot and then failed to boot saying that the driver was no good.

I don't know what to do to get this raid functionning under Windows 7.

Please, I need help here.

All of these are virtually identical and related to your video driver. I would re-install it using this

When upgrading your graphic driver you MUST remove all traces of the current driver. In order to do that we recommend using Guru3D - Driver Sweeper
Or Phyxion.net - Driver Sweeper

When it is removed then download and install the fresh copy.

There are 3 options to restore (on the laptop) the pre-installed software (Win7-64bits) :
-from the created Recovery Discs (made when the Operating System was installed);
-from the Recovery hard disk drive;
-ordering Recovery Discs from the laptop's producer/manufacturer.
I would like to know HOW can I recover the Windows 7 from the Recovery hard disk drive; in the warranty booklet it is mentioned that before anything else (before any other operation) , if my laptop came WITH the system recovery option (how can I check this?), I must first copy the pre-installed feature from my hard disk on a CD or on a DVD and keep it safely. But there is no mention anywhere HOW can we make this copy ...I found also something about this in the help section, but NOT HOW to make the copy of this feature (a file or a group of files).

Does Windows 7 Ultimate-64bits have an installer repair option, as Vista and XP did? I would like to insert the CD-ROM (full retail version), drill down to Upgrade, and, instead of reinstalling Windows 7 Ultimate, click on Repair, but I do not see this option on any branch of the installation procedure. Where is the Repair option found, or is it missing from the Windows 7 CD-ROM?

My machine is mainly working, but autochk at startup fails and there may be hidden problems that need to be fixed. System Restore (possibly corrupt), Startup Repair (inadequate), sfc /snannow (unsuccessful), chkdsk (inadequate), and a System Repair disk (could not make) are not options. I thus need to use the installation CD-ROM or else download something, if I only knew what. I hope to run a repair utility without resorting to a clean install that would wipe out my hard disk. Please enlighten me.

Hi,
I recently installed a software on my laptop, but when using it I get the following error message :

This is mostly likely caused by not having the necessary graphic drivers installed.
Install a driver providing OpenGL 2.0 or higher, or if this is not possible, make sure the ANGLE Open GL ES 2.0 emulation libraries (libEGL.dll, libGLESv2.dll and d3dcompilet_*.dll) are available in the application executable's directory or in a location listed in PATH.

It is my understanding that I have to install an appropriate driver for my graphic card, but I cannot find which one. I am using Windows 7 (64bits) in a Dell XPS 13 laptop L322x.

Hi,

Try to use Chkdsk tool to check if it could fix this issue:

1.
Type cmd in the Start Search box, right-click cmd.exe in the Programs list, and then click Run as administrator.

If you are prompted for an administrator password or for confirmation, type your password, or click Continue.

2.
At a command prompt, type the following command, and then press ENTER:

Chkdsk /R X:
In this command, X: is a placeholder that represents the drive letter of the volume that you want to check.

3.
Press Y when you are prompted to check the disk the next time that the system restarts.
4.

?SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC? driver for ?Windows 7 64bits?, ?Sony Vaio VGN FZ 240 E?

Could you please help me in finding the driver for ?SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC? for ?windows 7 64bits? for my ?Sony Vaio VGN FZ 240 E? laptop.

I checked the site:

Sony eSupport - VGN-FZ240E - Support

but sounds not to include:
1. Sounds card: SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC
2. Web camera: Sony visual communication camera vgp-vcc8
3. Display Card: Mobile Intel? 965 Express Chipset Family

Thank you very much

Best

Jamal

A:“SigmaTel High Definition Audio CODEC” driver for “Windows 7 64bits”,

SigmaTel was purchased by IDT about 5 years ago and rebranded IDT. Some older SigmaTel devices will not work with the newer IDT drivers.

Do a internet search for IDT drivers, but no guarantee they will work.

The generic Windows installed basic function HD Audio Codec drivers, if installed may be the best you can do.

Hi everyone, I have an Veriton X270 with Windows 8 and I was wondering if I'll upgrade to Windows 10 all the drivers will be available.I don't want to make the upgrade and after to find out that I can't install the LAN or Sound card. Thanks,Stefan

Hi Scutu The X270 is an older model PC, but as you're running Windows 8 successfully, it SHOULD upgrade to Windows 10. You can: 1. Image your hard drive, so if Windows 10 causes problems you can return exactly as it was, many weeks after upgrading   or 2. Upgrade to Windows 10. you can revert back to Windows 8 by going to Settings>Update & Security>Recovery. Follow the on screen instructions. There is a 30 day limit to do this.

A:No Windows 10 OEM Key in BIOS (X270)

Install and run Belarc Advisor (https://www.belarc.com/products_belarc_advisor).  It creates a report that contains the windows key.

Details are a long story:1) Have Ultrabook Type 20HN-CTO1WW from 2017.  Purchased Lenovo "USB Portable DVD Burner" model DB65.  Connected it to the right-side (always on, I think) USB 3.0 port, inserted a verified bootable CD, and shutdown/powered up.  Went to normal (internal HD) boot. 2) Turns out it came set up for boot 2nd from USB CD drive AND with function key (lower left) required to engage function (F#) keys.Had fits getting it to boot into into Setup to change the boot sequence:  Had to change function key option to engage F# keys as default because it would not respond to Function-F1.  Eventually this worked, and in the Setup/Boot sequence I moved the USB DVD drive up to #1. 3) Now it does ask for "press any key to boot from CD/DVD," but it does not respond to a key press and still boots from internal HD.  This is true whichever USB port it's plugged into.  Further, it does not engage the temporary startup sequence when the F12 key is pressed as it says in the user guide.  What am I doing wrong? -- JCW2 P.S. -- I did not install any drivers for the DB65, assuming that Windows (or Lenovo) had them built in.  Do I need to?  If so, what's the minimum necessary to make this work?  (I don't want the included DVD-burner software!) -- J.W.

My X270 will not update to the Windows 1803 update, displaying the 0xc1900209 error. This apparently means that there is an incompatible program lurking in the hardrive that is preventing the update. Do I have this right? If so, is there a meaningful recourse here? How can I find the software that's holding up the update? Thanks.

I'm trying to install Windows 8 on my X270 20HN. My BIOS setup is default, except that I disabled Secure Boot and changed UEFI/Legacy Boot to Both (instad of UEFI Only) to make the PC able to boot from my Windows 8 installation USB disk. The Windows Installation window starts up perfectly, and I'm able to confirm the EULA. When I choose custom (advanced) installation there is no partisions / disks shown.Only "update", "disk settings" and "load driver" buttons are shown, and an error message saying:"No drives were found. Click Load Driver to provide a mass storage driver for installation" I have tried to download all drivers from the Storage tab on the following page, unzipped them and added them to the USB stick:https://pcsupport.lenovo.com/us/en/products/laptops-and-netbooks/thinkpad-x-series-laptops/thinkpad-... However, the Windows Installation cannot find any drivers. What should I do to get the Windows Installation tool find the drives? What drivers should I use, if I need to provide them manually? Thanks a lot in advance for your help! Kind regards,Nicklas

Hello, we are having some issues with changing the TPM from 1.2 to 2.0 for windows 10 installations via a Task Sequence installation. all I'm finding is a way to enable or disable the TPM via WMI. or all the other options need the laptops to already have a suppervisor password configured. I'm wondering if theres a way to simply change the TPM without having to set a suppervisor password.if not if theres a way to do it without any physical intervention on the Laptop.I did find ways to do it if theres already a suppervisor password, but our laptops dont come with one configured by default and everyone has them with windows 7 on them. However the more i read about this the more i see theres no way to add a suppervisor password via any kind of scripts. if anyone could send me in the right direction for this or if they already have this in place, that would help a great deal.thanks in advance !
