typing web address brings me to a diiferent address in explore and mozilla

Q: typing web address brings me to a diiferent address in explore and mozilla

I have a problem for over a week now that when I type a certain website in URL address bar it directs me to a different website.
I tried looking at the lmhosts - seems ok.

I also tried going back to a restore point of a time when I didnt have the problem, didnt help.

I would thank you very much for trying to advice me.

Preferred Solution: typing web address brings me to a diiferent address in explore and mozilla

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

A: typing web address brings me to a diiferent address in explore and mozilla

There are a few reasons for this.

First sometimes the site you are looking to visit isa "front" site and is for the most part fake. It is created to get search engines to list it high on the list of returned results.
When you try to use the search link to go to the site you get redirected to the site the creators/owners actually want you to visit. There are various reasons they may want this, but I will not go into the why for now other than to tell you it usually involves visitor counts and or subscriptions translating into money.

Second this is a common symptom of maleware/spyware.
It is also a redirect to a website they are hoping if you see it enough you will get interested and pay to join.
It may have installed as a legit program without your permission.
This would be why the restore did not work.

There are other reasons, but I will only deal with these first as they are the two most common.

If it is only happening on one site I would just forget about that site as it is a lost cause.
If it is happening on more than one site then I would run a few good spyware scans and at least one good anti-virus scan if not more than one to make sure you "catch" it if that is in fact what is wrong.

If you do not already have them I would reccomend installing

spywareblaster http://www.javacoolsoftware.com/sbdownload_setup.html
spybot s&d http://www.safer-networking.org/index2.html
ad-aware se http://www.lavasoft.com/single/trialpay.php
and avast http://www.avast.com/eng/download-avast-home.html

Also many of the popular anti virus creators have a free online scan option like
symantic http://security.symantec.com/sscv6/d...d=ie&venid=sym
mcaffee http://us.mcafee.com/root/mfs/default.asp
trend http://housecall.trendmicro.com/
and so on.

It may help to get hijackthis to have a good look at what is running on your system. I am not all that great at reading these, but I am sure you will get plenty of help reading and understanding your HJT log.
HijackThis http://www.download.com/Trend-Micro-HijackThis/3000-8022_4-10227353.html

Hope this helps.

I would like to hide the address bar but still be able to use the forward and back buttons and some other features.  I have add the rege key to remove nav bar but that removes everything.  Im using this in a citrix xendesktop environment.
I will deploy a site but don't want the users to navigate to other sites.  For instance go to our intranet site but stop them from going to our firewall gui page. So when they click on links I wont them to be able to go back to the previous page.
Any ideas?

Before I updated to Firefox 4.0, I could type something like "Discovery Channel how it's made" into the address/URL bar and the browser would take me directly to the "How It's Made" portion of Discovery Channel website. Is it possible to restore this functionality? With Firefox 4.0, typing into the address bar is equivalent to using the Search Box. I think I might have to mess around with "About:config" but I don't understand anything in there. Thanks!

I've used Firefox extensively since v2 but I've never known it to have the feature you describe - not built-in anyway, & there's nothing in it's options or configuration editor which relates to that in my FF4.

So maybe you must have used an extension in earlier versions to add that feature, or I'm totally wrong?

Hello all. New member here.
My problem is that when I type in a web site address, I have to type the full address including the httppart. If I don't type that with the address, it takes about 10 minutes before it goes to the site I'm looking for. Once it's in my cache, I can just click the address and it goes right to it. I hope this all makes sense. PLEASE HELP!

A:Automatic typing in IE8 address bar

Welcome to Seven Forums evers. I believe the default is for the address bar to be in focus on opening as in your other PC. In fact, I remember people complaining that the address bar grabbed focus when they were typing in the search field while a web page was opening. One thing to try is running IE8 without addons to see if an addon is the cause:

Hello all. Hoping someone's seen this or has an idea. I've done plenty of Google searches, but I'm striking out so far...

I have a fast (DSL-speed wireless) connection that is functioning fine in all areas but one. If I enter a URL in IE on the address line, there is a "hang" that results in a delay before going to the website. The delay isn't minor; it's typically 1 to 3 minutes. From that point forward, everything, including subpages, loads fast (as expected).

But that's the only case I've found where this slowness occurs. If I choose an item from my "links" bar, or from my "Favorites", I get immediate response. Another example to further explain. If I go to "Walgreens.com" by typing "http://www.walgreens.com" at the URL address bar, I get the bad delay. But if I do a Google search for "walgreens", and select the first response from Google (i.e., I go to that same address), it's a fast (as expected) response. So it's definitely tied to the Address bar.

I've been running XP Home SP1. The problem just started about two weeks ago, and I had been slow about upgrading to SP2. My computer sits behind a hardware firewall, has regularly updated NAV running on it, and I've run Ad-Aware, SpyBot, and some other similar program (with no problems found). I've also upgraded to XP Home SP2, but the problem persists. The help screen in IE tells me I'm running IE version 6.0.2900.2180.xpsp_sp2_gdr.050301-1519.

You have a bunch of drivers which is older than Earth itself.

Just kidding.

Install Service Pack 1

You can do this from your Windows Update.

Many of them if not 90% should update if you update your Service Pack.

noticed yesterday that a small rectangular box appeared on my compaq presario v2000 screen in the upper right hand corner and the letter 'n' kept printing itself. rebooted, then the letter 'n' typed itself whether i clicked on the address bar, the search bar or my signin password bar. i could delete the n's but they would reappear almost immediately.

there was a brief time that i could delete the n's, type what i wanted hit enter and use the computer but it has gotten worse so i shut it down.

thinking i might have a stuck n on the keyboard, did everything except pry the letter out of the laptop. i was using ubuntu 15.04 and an update to 15.10 was available so i did that, thinking maybe that would rectify the problem. no such luck.

Using Firefox 3.0.3.

Just started having this problem yesterday or before. When I type a word in the address bar, for example "google", my firefox freezes for a second, then brings me to an error page. See below.

Normally, typing something like "google" would bring me to google's webpage. But now I get this. Same happens when I type anything else. Any word makes it freeze and produce this error page. Typing full websites, e.g. www.google.com works fine though.

Any one think they can help? Many thanks.

Okay, to give you all the short story, I have the latest version of FireFox and I was downloading some torrents, and the this "search engine" called "MyWebSearch" took over my address bar. I know its spyware and I want it gone. However I lack the technical skill to fix this.

What I have done that hasn't worked is:

-Uninstalled and reinstalled FireFox.
-Went through all my hard disks and drivers to delete all everything that has to do with MyWebSearch.
-I have used SpyBot Search and Destroy.
-I have used McAfee.
-I have used RegCure.
-I even went through the registry to delete all the MyWebSearch I could find.

Nothing has worked. At this point IDC whether it's deleted or not, I just want my address back.

Hello all...
purchased rebuilt Dell w/Win7. My old email was handled by Verizon which recently said they are no longer doing emails. I was given an option to keep my old email address, but it now would be handled by AOL (so...now had to go to their site and give email address plus new password...ok). Wanted to be able to open from my Opera home page so installed 3rd party Mozilla Thunderbird (Opera has a email thing but I was way too confused, so then read that Mozilla was high rated). Now mozilla gets my emails ok, but I cannot write emails because I can't import my address book from AOL. Mozilla gives instructions but I am either too senile or too tech unsavvy to do it.
Please...I am VERY tech challenged...can someone help me get my addresses???? And yes, AOL does have the addresses on their site.

I have setup a Static IP address through Windows XP, and I am trying to forward ports to my Xbox 360 (to avoid Strict NAT settings). The problem right now is that I cannot access my routers set up page.

I am using a D-Link WBR-2310, which is not installed on the PC, but runs a password-protected wireless network. I have run IPconfig, and have obtained the IP address and Default Gateway. I have tried every IP address possible (from the default router address to the IPconfig) and I cannot access my wireless router setup. Through the D-Link website, I have also tried to use an emulator, but I am unable to make any changed regarding Port Forwarding. I have been unable to insert an address from my Yahoo email address book for some time now and I have decided to ask for help.

All I am doing is opening Yahoo mail and trying to compose a new email to send to someone who is already in my contacts. When I click "to:" or "insert address" my address book shows up. But when I place a check mark and try to "insert checked contacts" I go to this address on a blank page: http://us.mc1612.mail.yahoo.com/mc/kioskHandler

I see that this has been asked before but no one had replied and I can't find the answer doing a search.

Can anyone help?

I have Vista Home Premium 32 using Firefox. The version is the latest version of Firefox but this has happened in many previous versions of Firefox. (I was lazy [or in a hurry] and just typed in the address of the entity to which I was communicating as a work around.)

A:Solved: Yahoo email unable to insert address from address book

Concerning my post above: I turned on my older XP computer and I had no problem with inserting an address from the Yahoo! address book.

I compared all my settings in both computers and noticed that I had different settings relating to how pop-ups are handled. XP reminded me that the address book takes the form of a pop-up. On my Vista I had pop-ups opening up (?) in a webpage. That is the page which came up blank. After I have corrected the settings, I no longer have a problem.

I am running xp pro. I can not get an internet connection through my ethernet card. When I hook up my modem through usb it works fine but unable to utilize my full download speed capabilities. Hooked the modem up via ethernet to laptop and it worked just fine. The only thing I can find wrong that I don't know how to fix or what is causing it is the fact that the physical address of the card comes up as the broadcast address (FF-FF-FF-FF-FF-FF). Very strange. Can someone please suggest a fix for this (and dont say update the drivers) although it could likely be something as simple that I have overlooked.

The problem was found when I was using the TuneUp DiskCleaner to scan the hard drive labled F (the "File" drive). The scanning was stopped when it reached a folder (a folder that contains html pages that someone sent to me and I saved there), and a error message popped up saying "Access violation at address 019C44F3. Read of address 83C70A78."

I repeated the scanning and the exactly same thing happened -- even the error address reported was the same.

I tried to delete the folder from the explorer window. But everytime after I press the "delete" button, the explorer just breaks down, while that folder remains there the next time I open the explorer. The same thing happens in when I tried to delete it in the safe mode.

Strangely, I was able to rename the folder. It just can't be deleted.

Since everytime the same error address was reported, I assumed there could be some defect with the hard drive. So I launched a thorough scan of the F drive using TuneUp Disk Doctor, which reached the deepest level by checking every 512 bytes sector. The scan took about 20 minutes, but nothing wrong was found.

Can any one help me figure out what's wrong? Thanks.

A:Access violation at address 019C44F3. Read of address 83C70A78.(RESOLVED)

Hi there and welcome to TSF.
First, check the permissions on the folder. Right click on it then select properties. Make sure the folder isn't "read-only". If you still can't delete it, try using the utility MoveonBoot. You can download it from this site.. This allows you to mark the folder for removal next time you reboot.

I am using Outlook 2003 and run Windows XP.

When I create a new message I begin typing the name of the recipient and I would like it to match up with an address I have in my Outlook contact list. However, it does not read from there. It only seems to look at addresses that I have already sent to in the past. How can I get it to read from the address book? If I click on "TO" or "CC" it brings up another window with a list of addresses from my contact list. From there I can have it pull from the list. I would like to be able to do it withot the extra step.

A:Solved: Outlook 2003 dowes not automatically pull address from address book for email

That is how autocomplete works, from used addresses stored in the NK2 file.
This explanation and keyboard shortcut might help you.
Where do Outlook's auto-complete suggestions come from?

In the past I've maintained my address book using the built-in Address Book utility that came with Windows. Once each year, I would import my Address Book (.WAB) file into Outlook 2003/XP. (I don't use Outlook for email.) Then I would use the Mail Merge feature in Word 2003/XP to make and print address labels on standard Avery label sheets to simplify address of my Christmas cards.

Since I'm now using Windows 7, and the familiar Address Book utility is no longer available, how can I print my address labels? I have both Windows Address Book (.WAB) and Comma-Separated Values (.CSV) files that contain my address book data. So, I guess I need to know two things:
Which program or utility (preferably free) can I use to print my address labels.
How do I import my address data into that program?

If it helps, I am already a user of Gmail and Google Drive. Thanks.

A:Solved: Address Label Printing without Windows Address Book

Hi Jim,
Assuming you still have Microsoft Office (any version) you can use the Word mail merge feature and use your .csv file as your data source - no other programs necessary. What version of Office are you using?

Hey everyone.

I've ran into a problem that I can't quite figure out. My internet connection shows 'no internet access' even though my ISP shows the connection is coming into the house just fine. I usually use a router (NetGear-WNR3500U) but I right now I have the Ethernet connection plugged directly into my PC. I tried directly plugging into my laptop and the internet works just fine. So I know the problem resides in the PC.

Some troubleshooting things I have tried.
-Power cycled my modem, router and PC.
-Repinged my connection from my ISP(Comcast Xfinity)
-Used the reset option on the router and the modem
-I was walked through the internet options needed with the tech support from my ISP to make sure DHCP was enabled and every other setting was correct, and he cleared me that all settings were correct.
-Tried ipconfig commands to /renew and /release my IP
When I tried ipconfig /renew I get the error 'An error occurred while renewing interface Local Area Connection : unable to contact your DHCP server'

-Restored my PC to a restore point where the Internet was working

All of these options did not work.

What I think the problem is and I am not sure how to fix it, when I run the ipconfig /all command my Auto configuration IPv4 Address shows which I was told is a router IP address even though I am plugged directly from the modem to my PC with an Ethernet cord. So I think that's my problem? But I am not sure.

I'd be glad to prov... Read more

A:'No Internet Access' IP address shows router not the modem IP address

That would be your ISPs' address, the router would probably be or so, in the properties, advanced button for the ipv4 of your adapter, make sure both settings are on auto, and add the correct router address in the gateway box.

I have a windows
7 Home Premium (service pck 1) ASUSTeK computer (four GB RAM, Intel R processor) Sixty-Four bit. From the Subject title I'm having BSOD problems and lots of them (started on 29/12/2016 but I hadn't installed new
hardware or software),
I tried troubleshooting it myself for over a week now using many Microsoft
forums but to no avail!

It crashes quite randomly, but mainly after it's been left to go to sleep, or even if it dims the screen to save
battery! I couldn't recreate it in safe mode, tried scans, updating USB stuff from Computer Management, and windows
updates are fine.

It's very important that I use my laptop as I'm a Fourth year at university trying to write
my dissertation!

Thanks in advance.

This has been happening for a few months and I have had to reset the router every time and it usually works. I have 3 laptops, normally 2 are used and a roku streaming player connected to the tv. Both laptops are on windows 7 and sometimes the wifi suddenly stops working [sometimes only stops for some devices] even though i am still connected to the my router. Some times, a popup comes up that says that windows has detected an ip address conflict, so I think that that is the problem, but when I try to do ip/release, renew, it says that the media is disconnected to wireless network connection 2 even while i can access the internet.
