Solved: transcode video for cell phone

Q: Solved: transcode video for cell phone

My Motorola V360 will play video but I can't figure out how to transcode downloaded videos so they work on the phone. It doesn't help that I don't know much about video codecs. The V360 uses mpeg4/h.263 (I don't know what the h.263 means), the screen size is 176x220- do I need to resize the video or something? Any way of doing this, for free, preferably.

Thanks,
JTN

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I don't know if this is the right forum but I thought I'd start here.

I have a Motorola Entice W766.

I currently have pictures and video I took with the phone located in the phone's internal memory.

When I click on the mobile phone icon in vista, the device is listed as "V CAST Moblile Phone-Internal Memory". I can see the music files I uploaded from my computer to my phone via usb cable using vcast/rhapsody. But there are no picture or video files listed even though I know they are there because I can view them on my phone.

I did set all files and folders to not hidden using vista.

So, how in the heck do I find the files? And then, how do I transfer them to my pc?

Any help appreciated.

I have a Nokia 6555 cell phone. I have also downloaded the Nokia PC suite to my computer and connect to my phone using a USB cable. I have downloaded photos to my phone with no issues. However, when I download a video to the phone it will not play. The Nokia PC suite has a video converter which converts the video to .3gp format which is supported by my phone. However, when I attempt to play the video, the player opens and it does not play. I have taken video with the phone itself and the videos are stored in .3gp format and they play fine. But any video I convert to .3gp on my computer and download to my phone will not play???

Any help or suggestions will be greatly appreciated.

I want a phone that does these 2 things extremely well. High quality audio and texting technology.

1. Superior high quality audio. That includes a microphone, and a dynamic audio range speaker. As well as the means to transfer the voice data effectively.
2. Advanced texting program. I want the software to make sense, user tested. I don't want any delays, I want the backspace button to work immediately, I don't want my messages accidentally sending either. I don't want a full qwerty keyboard either. I can text just as fast with the numeral keyboard, with the auto-fill key strokes as well as saving the word to the phones dictionary.

Other important basics: Long battery life, which should be easily attainable with the stripped basic/advanced features. (some say bluetooth and camera are now basic features). Phone should be durable, buttons not easily broken, screen not easily scratched, easy to remove battery and sim card.
That's it! I don't want internet, bluetooth, camera, voice record or commands, usb port, flashlight, etc - IF: it interferes with the first 2 things I want.

I think a key problem with this is that it is 'few and far in-between' with people who would want this. Maybe demand isn't high enough.

Do you agree or disagree? Would you use this phone?

I have purchased an old Compaq Armada 7400 Notebook. I am wanting to connect it to my cell phone to access the internet, but I have no clue as to what hardware I need, or how to go about it. Does anyone know about this subject, or of any helpful links?

Thanks in advance! Oh, another problem is that this laptop only has one bay which can hold EITHER the floppy drive OR the DVD/CDROM drive at a time....SO...how in the heck could you wipe it and do a clean OS install, when removing one of the drives while booted locks the thing up?

A:Solved: Connecting Laptop To A Cell Phone?

Ok, what you will need to do is make sure that your armada has an IR port, and that your mobile has one as well. You will need to go to the website of your Mobile phone manufacturer and see if they have the software to support connectivity this way.
And you can do a clean install using the CD media that your Operating system comes on. It's not necessary to boot from a floppy first, as the Cds should be bootable.

As noted in the subject line I dropped my cell phone in a pool of water today (the case slipped off my belt while I was playing with the dog) and it was a while before I noticed it sitting in the pool. I immediately removed the battery and the phone is now drying out.

First question: how long should I wait before trying to power it again?

Second question: if it will not power up either on battery or plug is it worth trying to get it repaired? I hate the idea of paying someone to look at it if its not likely to be repairable but I also hate the idea of simply junking it.

I have Canon EOS 7D for excellent picture, and sometimes shoot movie with it. However, I could edit it on my iMac with Final Cut Studio 2. I am running Mac OS X (10.6.3) with quad core and 4G RAM. I then installed Canon EOS MOVIE Plugin-E1 for Final Cut Pro, and it helps me import the video without error message. however, I found that some clips are shorter than what they are really taken. It seems that some frames were dropped when transcoded to ProRes.
When looking for solutions to fix EOS plugin problem, I find Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as FCP transcoder alternative to convert EOS MOV to Apple ProRes no frame drops. It provides Apple ProRes 422, ProRes 422 (HQ), ProRes (LT) and ProRes (Proxy) and ProRes 4444 for editing in Final Cut Pro.

Solution: . Import Canon footage to Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac.Run Aunsoft Video Converter for Mac as FCP transcoder alternative for Apple ProRes, click the "Add" button to import the H.264 .mov files from Canon 7D. Choose Apple ProRes 422 (HQ).Click the "Format" option, and navigate to Final Cut Pro > Apple ProRes 422(HQ) (*.mov) as output format. Click the "Settings" button and choose 1920*1080 from the drop-down box of video size to keep HD resolution.. Convert Panasonic 1080p 28Mbps MTS to MOV for FCP.Click the convert button under the preview window, and it will start converting Canon 7D video for Final Cut Pro. You can then import the Apple ProRes 422 HQ video to Final Cut ... I wanted to transfer my pics/videos from my Motorola phone (Verizon carrier) to my PC. It was suggested on this site that I buy Motorola Phone Tools, that this software would do the job. I also talked with Verizon to make sure it would do the trick. But when I got the software I was unable to transfer any pic/video. So I called Motorola for help. I found out Verizon prohibits Motorola from configuing their phone software to transfer pics/videos.

I surmized the reason Verizon prohibits this particular function is they want to make people pay messaging charges to get pics/videos from phone to pc. Because everytime you send a pic/video from your phone it is considered a message. The Motorola tech said almost all carriers they provide phones to prevent pic/video transfers using MPT. So be sure to ask your carrier first if they allow the phone you buy (not just Motorola) to work with its respective phone software. Then call the phone manufacturer to make sure you were given the correct info.

By the way you can transfer pics using Verizon two ways.

One-send pic/video as "message" to your email-then transfer from email to pc.

Two-send pic/video to your Verizon account that offers a pic/video gallery to accept your "messages". It offers some options such as word bubbles and picture altering. To get to your pc you just copy/paste to you pc.

So a warning to all those who might be considering purchasing MPT to work with Verizon and most other carriers. If you... Read more

I recently bought a wireless 3G USB modem / hot spot. Although i use it primarily by plugging in my PC USB port, It just occurred to me that my smartphone charger also has a USB port. So i was wondering if i can use the modem by using the charger USB port or not. That way i will not have to keep my PC powered on all the time. My charger has a output rating of 5V and 830mA. I reckon there shouldn't be a problem but want to be sure lest i damage the modem.

Without any clue as to model numbers, its a hard call to offer constructive advice, but the Palm unit will allow the export (from the PC based copy on Palm Desktop) of the addresses and numbers to a .csv file.

If your new phone has connectivity to the PC, then it may be able to import them, but that would depend widely on the model and your own ability to connect it to a PC.

Alternatively the Palm will usually allow IR (InfaRed) beaming of the addresses, and if your new phone will receive IR data then that may be possible.

Hello,

I purchased Motorola Phone Tools and a USB cable to transfer some of my mp3's to my cell phone. When I uploaded them successfully, the quality was greatly reduced and I can't figure out a way to modify them - it sounds very scratchy when I set it as a ringtone. I don't see any option that the program gives me to modify bitrate, etc (my friend uses BitPim which is not compatable with my phone, but his ringers are much higher quality). If anyone can help me increase the quality, I'd appreciate it!

some extra info in the "preview" section when I'm about to send it to my phone:

44,100 Hz
Quality: 16 bit stereo

Thanks!

Hi there

some of you using Amazon's Fire stick or TV box for playing streamed content via PLEX may get - Transcode - level of H264(41) greater than device limit(40)

To fix this - in the Amazon PLEX app go right to the right hand top of the screen where there's a dropdown arrow and then chose settings

You'll then be able to set the H264 level higher -- suggest setting it to 4.1 - don't make it too high or you'll get some instability.

Works a treat and stops a lot of unnecessary transcoding

Set the level on the FIRESTICK / TV box of course not on the server !!!.

Cheers

I know its not your typical first question but I'm wondering if there's any way to get Windows 7 to see a connected and tethered Windows 6.1 Smartphone to use it as the modem versus the built in PC hardware ?

I need the cell but not the landline now and it would be a great help. Conversely - I cant seem to locate a Smartphone compatible fax software so I can generate a doc on the PC and send it to the cell for faxing.

So can you tether the phone at all? USB or bluetooth? if it was a blackberry or other phone I could help with the basic connection but I have never used a windows phone.
