I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

awah, welcome to the Seven Forums.

Considering the age of that laptop and the GPU that is in it (ATI Mobility 9600 or similar), the best you're going to get for it is the last XP driver as there are not now and never will be a Windows 7 driver for it. Best to go to IBM/Lenovo and get the XP driver for it. It may take using,

Compatibility Mode

to get it to install.

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad W520 running Windows 10 x64 bit and would like to use the Bluetooth. Unfortunately, there is currently only a Microsoft Generic Driver installed and it won't find any of my Bluetooth devices. I would like to download a driver that will actually work and so I went to the Lenovo website to find a working driver. However, apparently there are no bluetooth drivers that are compatible with Windows 10 and this laptop. So how am I supposed to be able to use my laptop with bluetooth? Thanks for any help in advance.

Hi - I read through these forums and see a lot of people have problems updating to the latest Windows 10 version (1709) - even on newer models. I was wondering who has the oldest Thinkpad/Lenovo model running this latest version of Windows 10 - fully functioning. Myself, I have a Thinkpad T43 from 2005 running Windows 1709 great - everything is working but of course it is not fast!

I just updated my ThinkPad S431 to Windows 10 but I can't find a wireless driver for it, including on the Lenovo website.  Does anyone know where I can find a driver?  Is Lenovo going to release one soon? My network adapter is the Broadcom '2x2 11a/b/g/n Wireless LAN PCI Express Half Mini Card Adapter'.

A:ThinkPad S431 Windows 10 Wireless Driver

Hi, welcome to the forum.
You are right, I searched the Thinkpad S431 site and I didn't find any Broadcom wireless driver (seems that there are some other models with the Intel driver).
Can you check on the Window Device Manager the Hardware ID  of your wireless adapter? Sometimes with the HardwareID it gets easier to find the driver on Google.
The other things that I use (that is not officially supported by Lenovo) is DriverEasy. It offers a free, decent enought, way to recognize drivers against its database and show you some update versions of your drivers. The free version also allow you to download the driver (in a slow way).
Check it out to see if it gives you some hints.

Hi guys, greetings from Bulgaria! I have an old ThinkPad 600e that I'd like to use for some "retro" computing - DOS 6.22, Windows 3.1, Borland Pascal, TASM... All my old software! It's a huge fun! Since my laptop has no floppy drive and the video driver provided for the Neomagic MagicMedia256AV video adapter is ONLY in the form of a self restoring floppy image (no way to extract the files other than writing the image to a FD. No luck under VirtualBox either.) I am looking for the Windows 3.1 drivers in a ZIP form or any ideas how to extract the files.  It is the same story with the other driver disks, but that's the driver I need the most! Thanks.Ivo

To Whom it may concern, I recently replaced my ThinkPad T60p HD with a 240GB SSD and installed Windows 10 32bit on it. New life for the old reliable machine and it works rather well. However, after a few days, ethernet stopped working. System diagnostics indicate the hardware is working properly, so before I go performing more extensive hardware tests, I figured I should download the T60p specific drivers. Can any one point me a place where I can find the drivers? BTW, I have already looked, but have been unable to find them. Regards, Jean-Pierre P.S. I am using wireless to post this, but I have excellent ethernet, and would rather use that. Thank you.

A:Downloading ThinkPad T60p Windows 10 32 bit driver...

I don't have a direct answer for you.  Not sure you're going to find Windows 10 drivers for a machine of that vintage unless direct from the ethernet chip vendor (Intel) and probably not then...
Since it worked for a time and failed I Wonder if you've been bitten by 10's nasty habit of updating drivers whether you like it or not.
Anything in update history?  Is there a driver roll-back option for the NIC via Device Manager?  If so, does it help?
If the above is what happened, it's going to be a challenge to get 10 to leave the working driver alone.  Are you running STD or Pro?

I have a Lenovo Thinkpad E550 running Windows 10 having been updated automatically from Windows 7 Pro 64-bit (initial and anniversary).  I cannot get Skype to use the integrated webcam. That is not the issue. Discussions of that said to make sure the video drivers were up-to-date. There have been no non-automatic updates of Lenovo software since its purchase in early 2015. I used Lenovo's utility to identify the system as 20DFCTO1WW. Just about everything looks out of date, so much so I wonder if I am looking at the drivers for the right system though it agrees with the solution center's showing of model and serial number. I am familiar with computers, byut I am not familiar with how Lenovo does things. Multiple questions: 1) The current drivers for the integrated camera are RealTek 6.2.9200.10282 (7/11/2014), but the Lenovo site shows version 6.5.717 (6/19/2016 for Liteon) and Version 10.0.10240.11135 (Bison/Chicony). Is this the same device.2) Is there a suggested sequence for applying multiple updates?3) The Lenovo page has an option "Let Lenovo update your system". Is this safe? Thanks

It never occurred until a few weeks ago, though: Whenever the Windows 10 lock screen is activated (no matter if automatically after timeout or manually by me), the cooling fan starts running full speed without even stopping until I unlock the computer again. I saw that many other users seem to have the same problem, even with the 6th generation computers. First I thought I might have caught a crypto miner doing something in the background, but this has been ruled out by extensive malware scans and CPU/GPU monitoring. Neither processing unit does anything, it is definitely a Lenovo thing. Please help me, my business computer is running 24/7 and has to because I also need to access it remotely. At night I cannot sleep because of the fan humming non-stop. Plus, I am afraid of premature cooling fan bearing wear-out. Update: I also tried this solution, but it does not help at all.

The trackpad drivers will not install with the latest 10 build version. you can only move the cursor with the trackpad, gestures and buttons do not work. I am going to give up on windows 10 if I can not find a solution fast. Phone support has been all but worthless from lenovo. This machine is only out of warranty for 3 months, I find it kind of silly that you can get no phone help when you tell them its a driver issue and all your asking is will there be an update for the driver or should I just give up. Why not have a way for techs to get this information to the department that could fix this instead of dismissing me as a customer who is out of warranty. I find it ridicoulous that windows updates cause drivers to fail and how microsoft forces windows 10 and its customers to use windows 10. If lenovo is not going to support windows 10 on older machines they should have a bulletin about it so that users dont get frustrated about the expierence. I have attached a pic of the failed driver install?

Hello there Recently some of our T550's have issues with the "Windows Driver Foundation" Task. The Notebook works fine until we connect it to a Dockingstation. As soon as the Notebook is plugged in it will start to get slower and slower to a point where it is almost impossible to work with it. The issue doesn't occure on all our T550's so it could well be a manufacturing problem but I first wanted to check if someone had similar issues or any advice on how to takle this. I already tried the following steps with no improvement:- Completely removing the DisplayLink driver from the system and reinstalling it after a reboot- Completely removing the graphiccard drivers from the system and reinstalling them after a reboot- Lenovo hardwarescan (no issues found) It would be amazing if anyone can help me with this issue. Kind Regards

Hi Forgany,
Welcome to Lenovo Community!
What you can do is uninstall all the Bluetooth application and drivers which you have installed currently and then download and install ThinkVantage system update utility. After the installation restart the system and run the application, this will search for the entire required latest driver for your system.
Hope this helps.

I'm running VirtualBox that is running XP on windows 7. The reason to need to run windows XP is I am using a film scanner in which I can't find a proper software or driver for Windows 7. The problem is the scanner (a Nikon Super CoolScan 8000-ED) works on FireWire 1394. I have a PCIe FireWire card installed, but it is not detected on the virtual windows xp machine. Is there a way to detect the PCIe FireWire card in the virtual machine? I'm not sure this is even possible.

If not, is it possible to install an XP driver to work with Windows 7. I can run the scanning software in compatibility mode, but without the driver for the scanner, the software won't detect it.

Are there any other options other than just getting an old PC and installing XP to it?

A:Running PCIe on VirtualBox or installing an XP driver on windows 7

The thing about a virtual machine is that it uses virtual hardware. Most of your real hardware is unknown and unknowable to the client OS and applications. Modern virtual machines can access USB drives and know something about your real video system. But accessing a scanner using FireWire is another matter. I could be wrong but I don't think so.

Using an XP driver on Windows 7? That is within the realm of the possible but not very likely.

I have an old scanner purchased for Windows 98 and later found a driver that worked with Windows 2000. But I never found a driver that worked with XP and never even tried with Windows 7. I have an old computer running Windows 2000 when I need the scanner.

Just bought an Inspiron 5759 from Dell Canada.
Touchpad is very squirrelly - move around and it randomly perceives a click hence starts moving or invoking stuff.  Try to click left or right button (bottom left or right of touchpad) and the cursor moves so I can click on wrong thing easily.  Looked for Touchpad settings under Control Panel Mouse.  Nothing there specific to touchpad - just generic mouse settings.  Looked in Device Manager - Mouse and Pointing Devices - see HIID compliant mouse and PS2 compatible mouse.   Driver for either is from Microsoft dated 2006.
Ok - load newest driver from dell.com.  Claims it installs ok - wrong.  The Dev Mgr shows same Microsoft drivers.  Manually force driver to Synaptics - Dell TouchPad.  Looks like it succeeds.  Now, Dev Mgr shows two mouse devices: Dell Touchpad and PS2 Compatible mouse.  Try control panel - Mouse.  Now I see a Dell Touchpad tab but the only field - Change Dell Touchpad settings - does nothing.

A:Inspiron and XPS laptops running Windows 10 cannot install Dell/Synaptics Touchpad driver

With Win 10, touchpad drivers are found in the Win 10 Settings, selected in the Start Menu. In addition, many newer laptops are using a Precision touchpad, a Microsoft inspired pad. The driver is incorporated in Windows itself, and a regular driver will not work. This is why you don't see anything in the "old" Windows Control Panel app or in the Device Manager.

Hi, I've been struggling with my brandnew P1 fan for 2 days now, and I'm afraid I am not the one winning...It doesn't really make a difference which setting I use (intelligent cooling, performance or cool&quit): the fan runs every minute (or two) for a second or 5. even when I'm not working and only browsing, every minute: it starts, tuns for 5 to 10 seconds and off again. I can imagine that in those short period the cpu doesn't really get any cooler, so it needs to run again and again.Really annoying, and I wonder whether it is really necessary because my previous laptop (also a high end machine) only ran the fan when I was compiling code or something similar. Just now I was having lunch so the laptop was idle, and it kept on starting the fan. And besides the settings in the lenovo vantage software I can't seem to find any other way to control it. (well, found a setting in the bios, but then I had to deselect 'performance', and performance is the reason I bought this laptop. Is there a way to make the fans run longer at a time? Or is maybe the max temperature set too low? I find it hard to believe that a laptop needs to run the fans so often, even when I'm doing nothing (nothing is running chrome and outlook  and whatsapp and spotify (not playing music) and loaded visual studio but not using it). A brand new blank CD-R will go through the whole routine of attempting to write an ISO file to disk using ImgBurn but fails on the verify saying that layouts do not match. That disk will still register as empty to the system, but further attempts to write to it end up with an I/O error occuring at the 36% complete point. I did get a blank CD-RW to successfully write using the software provided by Numus Diskbuilder (www.user-guides.co.uk), but that uses their software to complete the operation. Also, the DVD/CD-RW drive passes all tests run by the ThinkPad testing software (which calls itself PC Doctor 2.0 but is especially configured to test ThinkPads) that I downloaded using Numun Diskbuilder from that website. I have also tried using RecordNow! version 7 (Sonic) to try to write an ISO file to disk, but it fails too, and that software as well as ImgBurn seem to have problems running on my system. I know this is a great deal to digest all at once, but if someone could help me figure out why my system will not write CDs I would really appreciate it.

A:ThinkPad T43 running XP Pro won't write CDs

You Could try to use ISORecorder31X64.msi also verify that the disk speed of blank media is compatible. Have you tried any other brand media?

I just picked up a IBM Thinkpad T-40 on Ebay and it's in flawless condition and it came with XP (COA) and a list of many downloads. The problem is that it's running very slow.
At home l have DSL but l hooked it up to dial up on a different line to download Avast and it's been running for 3 hrs and only downloaded 34%. While watching the window telling me how much is downloading it seems that for every 6 minutes the clock in the window moves by 1 minute. My IBM Thinkpad 600x seems to be running on DSL compared to it.

Any ideas, it also takes 4/5 minutes after l turn on the T-40 for the XP page to load.

Any ideas?

I just got my Yoga X1 running Win 7.  It was noticeably hot (particularly compared to the Thinkpad Carbon 4th Gen), so I used CPU HWMonitor, where it shows core temps reaching as high as 71C.  This is while I was doing nothing more than surfing the net.  Is this something to worry about?  Results  Thanks for any advice.

Same error again... I was using Google Earth, and my external monitor went black (this happens when I'm out of RAM, but I have additional 4 GB paging file, and 16 GB physical RAM), I turned my laptop to sleep (usually I can fix this black screen problem by turning to sleep and back on) and back on, and it showed BSOD - SYSTEM_SERVICE_EXCEPTION:

BTW I don't have those crash-causing NVIDIA drivers installed for 2 months now, all I have is Intel HD 4600 Graphics which I installed in non-traditional way (by using 'Have Disk'), because there is no other way, Toshiba doesn't provide drivers like these anymore, so I had to update using original Intel drivers (they are compatible with my processor and intel graphics version).

I just ran driver verifier, and here are 3 BSOD messages that showed up
