Preferred Solution: Problem upgrade memory with Operating System to 64b.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

@Peppe_Valenza I am not surprised by the response from Kingston. The memory density issue was mentioned message #2. Try some other memory manufacturers and see if you can obtain the proper memory dimms. Thanks for posting on the forum.

Thats it i am struggling with this so any help will be great. blmot

A:memory addressing any operating system

Binary. Get to know it.
Q1 and Q2
Each line is one address line.
4k = 4096.
Thats reached by using every line up to but not including 4096.

Q3 and Q4

Sounds like something you need to study and understand and not "learn by rote"

When you understand the above you have the answer to the rest.

So, for some time here i have wondered if it is possible to force an operating system and/or specific programs to load completely into memory? The goal of this being to reduce or nullify the number of disk I/O operations that the computer has to executed during use, as this is a bottleneck in performance.

//Dave

A:Loading an operating system into Memory

There are some very old OS`s that ran from memory. This was back in the day of no hard drives. Machines booted from floppies, loaded to memory, ran from memory, were cleared from memory every shut-down.

Today`s OS`s are far to large. The amount of memory required not including third party installed apps would be exceedingly large.

Fujitsu Siemens Lifebook AH512 Intel Pentium B960 6GB 750GB HDMI 15.6" Laptop

This post is related to the laptop detailed above.

This is a new laptop, as yet unused, still in its original packaging. The laptop has installed Windows 8, which I would like to upgrade to Windows 10. This should be easy enough, as I've already performed the upgrade to Windows 10 on my desktop computer without any problem. However, before doing anything to this new machine, I'd also like to add a second operating system, Windows 7, to the same hard drive, and would be very grateful if anyone reading this post could explain, in very simple terms, how I would go about doing this. Ideally, I'd like to be able to choose which operating system to use each time I start the laptop. Please include as much detail in your reply, with step by step guide. All constructive responses welcome. Many thanks.

I recently upgraded my system's graphics card and processor to an FX 6300 with an R7 250X. I had some issues with my old OS, so I upgraded to Windows 8.1 Pro.

After these upgrades, I'm now getting various different BSOD's (Blue screen of death) upon boot and while using the machine. For example, NTFS_FileSystem_Error, Kernel_security_check_failure and several more which I cannot remember off the top of my head.

In addition to that, I get error messages on start-up for various different programs, sometimes Google Chrome fails to launch, and I'm unable to use any of the Windows Metro apps - they simply launch and then crash.
Iv'e got all the latest drivers, I've ran an HHD check within windows, and a RAM test using memtest86 and nothing abnormal was found. I can play games when I'm not getting BSOD's at solid FPS, which shows me that all of my new hardware is not at fault.
It's getting to the stage where I'm considering downgrading to Windows 7 again.

I'd appreciate any help that I can get on this. Thanks in advance. I can post anything else that would help you guys out with troubleshooting.

Helping a friend on his Acer Aspire V5 laptop that was running an OEM Windows 8 to upgrade to 8.1.

After selecting the Upgrade to Windows 8.1 via the store, the system went through it's install procedure, however after it does an auto reboot, it gives you a blank screen with the message No Operating System found, in the upper left corner.

But, you can turn the machine off and back on, and it will boot just fine. However if you select restart it does the same thing "no operating system found", on restart and again you must power down and power back on.

I have searched for fixes, but all seem to point to some sort of re-install process. I am not to crazy about the idea of re-installing to factory settings or doing a repair back to Windows 8 and attempting to upgrade again, are their any known shorter fixes for this?

And if I do go back to Windows 8, and try to upgrade again, what is to say it won't happen again?

Download the latest updates from HP Envy from HP - I used Internet Download manager to download all the updates as of June 15, 2016. (Bios, drivers, software) http://support.hp.com/us-en/drivers 2. Install your M.2 ssd Boot into Windows - Right click on My Computer on your desktop and select Disk Management, and  Format Disk 0 If you want to do a clean install and you did not update your HP ENVY with the latest software and drivers this is the screen you will see when you try to intall Windows 10 on your m.2 ssd. Hey all! I am pretty new to this kind of Win7 issues, so I hope some of you will be able to help. Story goes...

After few hours of gaming the computer died. (It happened right after switching keyboards.) Now, on every setup BIOS(?) comes up with list of options (F2 enter BIOS, F11 boot options, F6 Flash etc.). After that a black screen with error message comes up: Missing Operating System.

I tried rebooting from USB (since I have no disk-drive) and I keep on getting the answer: Error Loading Operating System.

Any ideas?

Thx

A:Missing Operating System/Error Loading Operating System

All unlikely, but possible - (a) your HDD died. (b) your bios became corrupted (c) your HDD boot sector became corrupted (d) your HDD partition is corrupted.

Does the drive spin up when you switch on (feel it)?
Check the bios to see if the HDD is reported correctly and is at the top of the boot order.
Find a bootable CD - an OS installer, or create Easeus partition manager bootable CD http://www.partition-tool.com/personal.htm and boot from it. What does the HDD look like with Easueus?

Hi, I'm in need of figuring out if my laptop was infected by a trojan, the operating system went kapoot and i need to reinstall it, or if its hardware failure. My computer restarted and ended up starting up with the acer splash with me able to click f2 for setup. But f8 doesn't work and causes a long beeping noise if i leave it alone it goes to a black screen with a underscore blinking at the top left. i've done some research but, im unsure which route to take without taking some advice for my own laptop. My laptop is a Acer Aspire 5741-3541, Windows 7,intel core i5-450 processor, 4 GB DDR memory, 500 GB HDD. if you need more information please ask because im unsure with what is needed to fix the problem. The solutions i've heard is reinstalling windows 7, or it might be a HDD problem. Thank you.

I have a Gateway M150-XL Slate laptop. It came with two 1GB sticks of RAM, but I would like to upgrade to 3GB or 4GB of RAM. It has two RAM slots, but I've seen places online (CNET/Best Buy) where it says max supported RAM 2GB for my laptop. I went to Gateway's website and put my serial number in and it says:

Memory Upgrade Information
System Serial Number: 1102133509

Motherboard Part Number: 2905935R

Type of Memory Modules (shipped):
1024 MB 667 MHz DDR2 SDRAM Memory Module (CRU/EURP)

Memory Installation Guide
Number of Memory Slots on Board: 2 (2 banks of 1)
Maximum Amount / Type of RAM that can be Installed:
4096MB DDR2 PC2-5300

So what can I do? Can I upgrade with two sticks of 2GB each. If so, where is a good place to find quality/inexpensive DDR2 PC2-5300 RAM? For example, I've been to TigerDirect but I only see PC5400. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

A:Solved: How much memory can I upgrade my system with?

According to what I read on the Gateway Support site the MAX Ram is 2 gig. and that is what the specs say it comes with. 2Gig 667 DDR2. Now that doesnt mean that the computer cant use more. But your OS may limit what would make sense for you to have.

I bought one of these a few years back, in the full knowledge that it was supposed to be possible to upgrade the memory to 2Gb. Initially, I replaced the installed memory (512M) with a 1G module, and would have installed the full complement if I had been able to do so. Sadly, it would appear that the second module has to be fitted to a socket under the keyboard, and I would desperately lik to find out how to do that. I note from previous messages on here about this type of system, that this is not at all straightforward; so I am am now looking for any useful information to assist me in completing this task.

Any suggestions would be most welcome.

A:e-system memory upgrade (revisited)

You obviously have a laptop that allows a RAM module to be installed under the keyboard and another RAM module to be installed in a bay on the bottom of it.

Removing the keyboard to install a RAM module can be difficult and time-consuming and may result in your laptop being non-functional, so you might want to have a qualified laptop computer person do it for you.

Not sure if it's an easy answer or not but I would appreciate any help you can give.

Currently using:

CPU: Intel Pentium 4 2.53GHz
Motherboard: Intel D865PERL
Installed: 512MB DDR (PC2100)

I would like to give the old girl a shot in the arm by bringing her up to 2 Gigs but as my system was custom built, the online system scanners at Crucial and Diahmemory are useless. I looked up my motherboard to ensure I would be getting the correct Ram and it states:
Supported system bus frequency and memory speed combinations
To use this type of DIMM... The processor's system bus frequency must be...
DDR400...800 MHz
DDR333...800 or 533 MHz**
DDR266...800, 533, or 400 MHz
**When using an 800 MHz system bus frequency processor, DDR333 memory is clocked at 320 MHz. This minimizes system latencies to optimize system throughput.Click to expand...

http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/D865PERL/sb/CS-027106.htm

Normally I don't care so much about the details however with DDR333 and DDR400 there seems to be better pricing and selection available. Will my system support either DDR33 or DDR400 or do I need to stick with the DDR266?

Basically the games I was playing had worked in the past on the Home Edition so I thought I had operating system problems. Anyhow, I fixed the memory problem and all games ran fine again. Wanting the newer Professional Edition back on the computer instead of the older Home Edition I decided to do a clean install with my Pro Ed. However, when I loaded up the Pro Ed, I must have skipped a major step and now have both operating systems on the computer. My question is, is there a way to erase the original home operating system and keep the new Pro Ed operating system without doing a compete clean install?

Hello everyone. Ive been having a sustained and frustrating problem with my PC. To cut a long and very infuriating story short the drive letter was changed on my pc meaning that windows xp professional wouldnt load up. Ive tried a number of different fixes but in the end backed up my hard drive to a friends pc and then decided to start from scratch.

I ran the windows 98 boot disk to format the drive so that I could then reintall windows. When I used that floppy disk it made me partition the drive. After doing this I now only get a message saying 'Problem loading operating system'. This happens with the xp cd in as well. I have checked the boot priority in the bios and everything is fine there. At no point do I get the 'press enter to boot from CD' message either. I just want to reinstall xp and start again, Im not bothered about losing anything on there as Ive backed it all up. Any suggestions?

Hi Dano50 !

Follow the HJT link in my sig and go through the whole 5 steps process. Post your final log in the HijackThis section where security techs will review it. It can take some time before you get an answer from them as that section is often overcrowded, just be patient. Once they'll start reviewing your log you'll have quick feedback.

One day few weeks back I turned on my home built comp. and It stated that there was a file missing. And this wasn't the first time I got this error. But I knew what to do, format and re-install windows. (kept a back up hard drive for all my files since this happens every 3- 4 months) But this time, when I try to install it, the setup procedure stated that there was a file that I couldn't install, actually there were several. It gave me an option to either retry or skip this file which could result in a malfunctioning os. I had no option but to skip it. And when it was done, it rebooted and a blue error screen message came up. I have re-formatted and re-installed at least 4 to 5 times, the hard drive is not the problem and neither is the disc. I have a dell laptop, and I used the os disc that came with it, the same error came up. I even changed the cd-drive from which it was reading the cd from, but no luck or results, techguy please help

I have to point out I know nothing about computers and really need step by step help as I am a student and cannot afford to take my laptop to a shop.

I have a Fujitsu Siemens Esprimo Mobile V5155. After having it for a short while my laptop slowed right down and had many problems involving the internet. A friend of mine suggested reformatting it. So he lent me a windows xp media disk, as I could not find the original one that came with the computer, and I reformatted my computer. Worked well and the computer seemed to be fine, however my friend did not give me a disk with drivers and system utilities on it, so I was unable to do anything with my computer.

I then found all the original disks, for my computer (which was made by fujitsu and all the disks are official). I decided to try and reformat it with the correct disk, operating systems, twinload cd/dvd. I inserted the disk pressed f12 and it all seemed ok until I got this message:

Twinload Windows XP professional:
-Your configuration is not supported
-none of the required operating systems were found on the hard drive of your system
-remove the dvd and click OK to shut dow the system.

I have no idea what this means. I looked at other threads on this ofrum and I can see that people have had a similar problem, except people were trying to downgrade from Vista to XP, wereas I am trying to load the correct version of XP onto my computer so I can put the drivers and utilities onto it.

Please help!!! If anyone has any idea... Read more

I've just tried to upgrade my PC's memory from 8GB to 16GB and have hit a rather worrying problem in that the PC now refuses to boot. Initially, once I'd replaced the old memory modules with the new ones, I got three beeps on power-up, which I quickly established was the result of my not properly seating the modules. Once I'd made sure they were firmly inserted I tried again, and this time all I get is the computer powering up - so all the lights come on and the fans kick into life - but then it powers down again without even attempting to boot: I don't even get to the BIOS. After a few tries I decided that it might be an issue with one or more of the new modules, so I swapped them back to the original 8GB kit and I still get the same problem. My PC is essentially DOA. Whilst I was inserting/re-inserting modules I did try to avoid and issues with static discharge. I wonder if perhaps I've disturbed a connector somewhere, although I couldn't see any signs of this when I re-opened the case to check.

The new modules are a 16GB Corsair Vengence DDR3 dual-channel 4-module kit (4x4GB). They were replacing a 4 module 8GB DDR3 dual-channel kit (4x2GB), so in both cases all four slots were in use. Motherboard is an Intel DP55WG, which is listed by Corsair as being compatable (16GB is the max for this motherboard). I've been running this system for two years prior to my upgrade attempt this evening, and it's been rock solid with no issues.

I wonder if anyone has any ideas I could... Read more
