Q: Battery drop in 2 months old battery?? - Lenovo B5...

Hello, In august I bought new Lenovo B50-80 notebook. One month ago, I was checking HWmonitor and I saw that the battery wear level is 11%. PowerShell battery test in Windows 10 says the same ? at one of a charge battery wear. Which I think 11% is to much. I use my notebook as a secondary PC. In two months of usage, I charged max 15 times (and before always depleted to 15%).I tried RMA the battery, but I did not have any success. They say that the battery is OK, if notebook does not automatically shut down.I would like to know if this is normal wear for battery and the answer from RMA guys.If it is not, how can I contact directly Lenovo? Please advise.Best regards.B.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

Hi guys,I have a one-year old Lenovo Z510, I have already flashed the battery firmware 5 months ago.Now the laptop shutoff at 35% of batter with no warning or notice that the battery is almost empty. This problem was occurring before the first firmware flash and that flash solved it. So please is there any other firmware update because I cannot flash the current firmware (same version).

I bought lenovo y500 two days ago in INDIA.  In the lenovo energy management system 8.0, I found a battery calibration option and decided to do it.  The steps mentioned there were as follows. 1. Full charge2. Full discharge  The process performed full charging followed by complete discharge of the battery which caused the laptop to shut down.   When I tried turning on my laptop, it could not start.  The battery charging indicator LED wasnt switched on even though the power cord was inserted into the laptop.  I could start the laptop only after removing the battery.   Once the laptop was on, I inserted the battery back in and it began to charge.  After about 50% of charging, I removed the power cord and inserted it again.  Now the battery couldnt resume charging.  I again had to shut down the laptop and repeat the above steps of inserting battery after switching on the laptop without battery.  Only then the battery would resume charging. After this, I decided to allow the battery to charge to 100%. But, the charging remained stuck at 99% and could not fully charge the battery.  When I removed and reinserted the power cord, the same problem persisted of battery not resuming charging. Please help me with this problem.  I read on few forums about uninstalling microsoft ACPI which supposedly solves this issue.  However, ACPI returns back after I restart my laptop.I also tried switch... A:LENOVO Y500 BATTERY NOT CHARGING AFTER USING LENOVO'S BATTERY GAUGE CALIBRATION

ADMIN Edit - While the original post below is marked as the solution, because service will be required if the battery will no longer charge after performing a battery reset, I am adding a Lenovo update here to confirm.   Normal operation will allow the battery to relearn its capacity characteristics when using the battery reset function.  Typically this is not needed in normal use..   Batteries are equipped with a safety feature that will permanently disconnect them (like a fuse) if cell imbalance or an internal short is detected.   This tends to be statistically infrequent, but also normal, and would require a battery replacement.  (Batteries have a 1 year warranty).   This battery feature can also  produce similar results to what is being discussed in the thread, so it should first be considered by service.   This particular  forum discussion also involves a situation that could affect a limited number of systems, and could lead service to replace the system board during warranty.

If your system experiences these symptoms, please contact service during the warranty period.

The battery status toggles between not charging, not used, and unauthorized battery after it was calibrated using one key. Before that, the battery was working perfectly, lasting close to 5 hours. Now the laptop shuts off when unplugged and the battery status is constantly changing. I've had this laptop for approximately a year now and it was unused and left in an unopened box for the first 8 months.

Battery Issue - Lenovo V570 (Laptop) - Battery Model L09S6Y02

First off I for the most part do not use the battery. It is normally detached from the laptop. I only attach it to periodically charge it and test prior existing charges' performance.

O.K. here is the problem. I attach battery attachment, computer does not make it to the window screen more often than not. When it does, it freezes at the please wait loading screen.

I rarely use the battery at all, but I want all my equipment up and functional. It's life should still be good for I periodically recharge it. I think since I've had the laptop I've only recharged it a total of 6 or 7 times and that's been a year or so.

I, for the moment at least have the battery working power adapter attached. What did I do? I uninstalled Avast (freeware version) ?

I learned from prior experience that running two of any system utility software can cause problems, but it normally restricts itself to what it is protecting. Then I remembered: "If you remove the possible whatever is left however in probable must be the truth."

Next phase of testing is test the battery on it's own.

Despite the manufacturer's claim of 7 hours battery life on my Lenovo Ideapad 320S-14IKB - 81BN (S/N: MP1CHQTJ), I only get around 3-4 hours. This is with light usage, Reddit, a little bit of youtube etc. CPU usage was mostly around 0-5% the entire time. This was with the max CPU state in power settings reduced from 100% to 85%. However, I do have the screen at 100% brightness. As a different test, I tried doing (almost) nothing (apart from keeping the screen bright), and got 6 hours out of the battery. Is there a simple solution to increase this? It's only a 30 Wh battery (2 cell). Maybe in the future, a 60 Wh (4 cell?) one will come out for this model?

Ever since yesterday I've had this problem, I tried several solutions and none of them worked. Basically the problem is: The laptop only works on battery now. When the battery is at 0% the laptop turns off even if the AC is plugged in. To make matters worse, when the laptop is on I get this message "plugged, not charging". So basically the AC no longer works by itself and only charges the battery when the laptop is off. Here is what I tried so far:- Changing the settings on the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool- Uninstalling the Lenovo Energy Mangement tool - Taking off the battery and AC, pushing the power button for 30 seconds, putting them back in and turning on the laptop.- Starting the laptop on safe mode- Praying to God None of these things worked. I recently purchased an x230 and everything is perfect but the battery fit.  It moves up and down slightly.  I know there are many posts in the lenovo forums for all different models that the battery fits lose in "x" model and solutions of putting paper / foam / tape to make the battery fit tighter.   What I'm wondering is if anyone has actually had the problem fixed by lenovo.  I've read a few posts where a user has had the base piece of the case replaced (where the battery fit's into) and that has solved the problem.  I'm still within my return period on my x230 and am awaiting a call back from tech support to see if there is anything they will do but I don't think I will keep it if they can't fix it.   I'm just curious has anyone actually had luck by replacing the base piece.  From what i've read a replacement battery hasn't worked for anyone.  Also, I know everyone says its by design for thermal purposes but I haven't actually seen any official confirmation of this from lenovo.   Thanks.

A:Battery Loose / Battery wiggle in x230 and LENOVO ...

As a follow up, I'm just curious if this is a widespread issue?  Anyone have loose battery in their x230 / x220?  I'm not talking about it falling out...but just a few millimeters of wiggle room.  Basically when i pick mine up or place it down, I can feel / hear the battery move.  I'm just trying to get an idea if this is a real problem or thats just how every thinkpad is.  I called support and they are sending someone to replace the base panel and we'll see if that fixes it.  I'll update this post when it get's replaced.   Edit* I also asked the lenovo support rep if they had heard of this issue and they said no, never.  I don't see how this is possible as if you do a google search for thinkpad loose battery there are many results.

Hopefully I get a solution to this question but my Lenovo Y50 has not been charging even after I thought it was my laptop charger was broken I bought a new one of the same exact type and It still didn't work and did the exact same thing as it did with my old charger. (i had this laptop for a year) What did the laptop exactly do? Well my laptop when I plugged it in it didn't work unless I set it up in a certain way to where I wiggled the charger tip around untill it finally said It was charging and I had to hold it into that position like a statue or else it would unplug if it moved an inch. That's not even the worst part! My chargers also heat at the tip. By heat I mean it literally gets so hot I burn myself on touching the plastic part and the metal part was very hot, when this happened on my new charger I made sure to unplug it right away to avoid doing any damage to it. Solutions I have already tried:Went into my control panel -> device manager -> Uninstalled both of the battery things like the ac adapter and the other thing I don't remember what it was called -> reinstalled -> Worked for a bit but not 100% gauranteed and after a while it didn't work Can't do a battery gauge reset because charger always unplugs Already tried BIOS does nothing. Don't even tell me to restart my laptop lol. Summary:Y50 won't charge, Have to have charger at certain angle to chargeTip over heatsdid everything in device manager to fix itno driver up... I am about to change the MB battery for the third time. I'm pretty sure its drained again as if I switch off the mains power to the unit overnight, the system reports checksum error on start up and loads bios defaults. System calendar reverts back to 31 Dec 2005, with duff clock time

If I leave the PC turned off but connected to power socket, everything is fine for the next start up

I have a foxconn 975 MB. Any ideas what could be causing the batteries to drain so soon - should last several years

After my friend's laptop wouldn't run on battery power OR charge the battery I tried many "fixes."

Shockingly none worked that I found.

Only one thing worked for me to my surprise.

A last ditch effort was to open up the laptop (sony pcg-81114L) and disconnect the cmos battery for a few minutes to reset the CMOS.

To my surprise, when powered on, the battery instantly showed it was charging AND when removing the power plug the battery POWERS the laptop now! (and I'd thought I was wasting my time.)

Worked with an off brand battery also.

Many times this has saved many computers that have odd "unsolvable" things wrong with them.

Surely someone else has done this also but I haven't seen it posted anywhere to my knowledge.

Thank GOD for bringing the idea to remembrance!

I've been trying to find a solution to this online for a few days now and haven't come across anything. I have a Toshiba Satellite Fusion. It was working beautifully until the other day when I went to use it. It wouldn't power up so I assumed the battery was dead. Plugged it in and the charging light didn't come on but the computer powered on. The laptop recognizes that it's plugged in and shows that the batter has a 100% charge on it but will not run unless it's plugged and will shut off instantly when unplugged. I've tried using another charging cable with no luck and I'm unsure at this point what next step to take. I would pop the battery out and put it back in but this one doesn't have an easily accessible battery and I'm trying to avoid taking it apart if possible. I haven't located a battery reset button on the bottom either.

As noted in the title it's two months out of warranty otherwise I'd just send it in.

Any help on this subject would be greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

Hi everyone, In January I bought a Lenovo laptop. The 500S-14ISK Laptop (ideapad) - Machine Type 80Q3. After a few weeks, the battery was not being charged anymore, and while I only used the laptop while on AC, the battery slowly depleted. Thus, it became unusable. The issue was fixed through the shop where I bought the laptop (which is a hassle because I live in another country than where the shop is). But now after I have gotten it back for two weeks, the problem has returned. The battery started to be stuck at 95%. Hovering over the battery icon gives a statement that the battery is not charging. Any ideas on what I could do? As stated, going back to the shop and let them fix it is not an option at this point. Notes:- The battery still depletes slowly between shutting of and starting again. When I shut it down one day and boot it up the next, the battery is still stuck but at one percentage point lower. - The Lenovo Settings program that pops up when I click on the big battery icon in the bottom right corner gives an interesting statement (It's in Dutch so I will translate as well as possible). "The AC (adapter) can't fully support your computer and should be repaced immediately."- I tried updating and reinstalling battery drivers etc but this didn't work. Any help would be appreciated.

I have a strange issue. I have a Lenovo T60 laptop and I am experiencing problems with the power management/power guage.

It will often show the battery not installed (power gauge is a greyish-white color with dashed lines) or it shows a red X. It does not matter if I am on AC power or on Battery power, it will show the full range of power, battery level, not installed, or an error.

I have searched Lenovo's site and I seem to remember seeing an FAQ about this, but now that I need it, I cannot find it.

What can I check or do to stop this? While it is annoying, I am not sure if I am having a battery problem or not. I did check my battery on Lenovo's site to see if it was recalled and it is not.

I do appreciate any help that any one can give me.

Thanks!

Hey, I really need help. I'm having problems with my laptop. It's a dell inspiron 7559 and was bought around January. Recently I have seen that the battery has no longer been as hot as it used to be when I first started using it. Along with the sleeve on the tip of the screen power adapter (below the part where the adapter lights up) has started to come off, exposing the wires. The battery has continually dropped down its percentage rate ever since I bought it, and it won't go back up. It is currently at 0% battery life and it says when you highlight over the battery icon ( plugged in, not charging). It also happens to show the BIO setup when I start the computer and shows that the batteries wattage and type cannot be determined. In the BIOS setup, the ac adapter type is unknown. The battery has not been through any harsh conditions along with the laptop. I have tried removing the battery, starting up the computer with the ac adapter (which is 130 watts), then adding the battery back, and ac adapter, then turning it on, but it had no effects. If I remove my ac adapter while my computer is on ,it instantly turns off. If someone can support me with this issue, it would be gladly appreciated. Thanks.

Hello, I have a XPS 9550 laptop that have almost a year of life. In the recent weeks the battery when arrive at 20% of charge suddently drop to 5% without a good reason (during play a mp4 or during write with MS Word for example, CPU is costant and there are no heavy operation).
The diagnostic test is passed (with elapsed time of 00:00:00 in report, is it normal?) and the battery health is at 88%, it have only 33 charge cycles because, when I can, I usually use the laptop with the charger.
I've writed at Dell Suppot (I have the premium warrantly for another two weeks), I sent the requested screen of the battery informations from the bios and executed the istructions, the answer was that battery is ok and all is normal (in this screen the bios report that battery status is "Excellent").
This is a graph of the battery report generated from Windows when you can see the last drop from almost 20% to 6% (is also reported that design capacity is 84 mWh and full charge capacity is 74 mWh):

Isn't it a symptom that some sectors of my battery is damaged?
Anyone had a similar problem? There are something that I can do?
The last thing that I can try is a Battery Calibration but not have precise information of the procedure for my laptop and it seems a bit risky.

The X240s has only one battery - there is no battery 2, and no way to install battery 2. Is there any way to tell Lenovo Settings that this machine has only one battery? Or is it possible to file a bug reporting this problem? Windows 10 is definitely supported by Lenovo on the X240s, so I hope this can be fixed. Thanks for any help or advice.

Hello, Recently I noticed that my battery percentage drops weirdly- it goes from 100% directly to 94%. It's a comparatively new laptop, I haven't used it that much. I charge the battery once a day if this matters.  My question is what could be causing this problem and how can I fix it if there's really a problem?  Thank you.

It was ok until yesterday (dunno what can go wrong suddenly in 1 day) .... this is my 5th day of using my spectre x360. I am working in an air conditioned class room. I saw my battery level 76% when I started my lappy and I was like cool dont need the charger. But then in the middle of the class it shows a message of 10% battery please plug in and its within 2 hrs. I had my jaw drops. (was just working on my website and that too not continuously). I was worried and touch my lappy to know it was supper hot. NOt exagerating but i couldnt touch and hold my hand between F1 to F5 keys even for a few seconds also the air coming out of the vent was supper hot (again i am in AC classroom with cool atmosphere). Checked on hp support . BIOS upgrade is reccomended so I did update to the lastest from hp.com/drivers. Dint solve the issue the fan is on continuously and it starts throwing hot air the moment I turn on the lappy. I mean like it has just started what is the reason you getting so hot. Severely disappointed, din't buy such an expensive product for such battery back up and severe heating problems.Though I have trust in HP care and support and hope I get the solution.

Hi everyone.I bought a beautiful X61 with the bigger battery 2 weeks ago. It's working great. But I encountered a problem.Let me tell you the story.I downloaded Power Manager to learn more about my battery and I was very surprised by what I've seen.Manufacture date: 2008-06-26First used date: 2008-12Cycle count: 20 (now 26)I was very happy. But then, disaster struck.I realised that when my battery reached around 50-60% it would just without any warning drop to 20%, and it would take ages to charge, but when it reached 20-30% it used to jump back to 50-60%. The first time I've encountered this problem was when I was poking around in the BIOS.I thought "Well, easy fix, it's a 9 yr old battery, probably a couple of cells failed" so I ran the Battery Gauge Reset. My full charge capacity dropped from around 72 Wh to 52,42 Wh. So, I looked on the battery. And me being me, a person that doesn't know jack shhh about batteries I thought that because it says "NOM 14,4V 52AH" the battery capacity is "clearly" 52 Wh. (yeeeahhh. 52 AH! Not Wh!) So I carried on using my laptop. My mom borrowed it to play Solitaire, then my dad used it to browse internet. The battery had 60% left. I used it for I KID YOU NOT 5 minutes, just wanted to show my mom a crash test of our minivan, and boom. It started beeping on me, indicating low battery charge. The laptop went to sleep.I want my full charge capacity back. (if possible)From what I've seen my battery was not eligible for a replacement (FRU 42T4571, ... Read more

Hi,

I have a dell XPS 13 L322X that I bought in 2013. Recently I bought a new cooling fan because the original one was very noisy. However, after replacing the cooling fan, I noticed that the battery capacity dropped to less than 10%. Therefore, I decided to buy a new battery. The problem is that the capacity/health of the new battery dropped to 75% in just a few days. I contacted the seller explaining him the situation and he sent me a new battery; however, the new one has already lost almost 50% of its capacity/health in just three days. One thing that I noticed was that the (second) new battery has an Energy (design) of 50,2 Wh whereas the original one and the first battery that the seller sent me both have 47 Wh. Another thing is that while I was calibrating the battery, in the first cycles, the battery was charged only up to 90% and that the capacity loss happens after a reboot: in the end of a cycle there is a decrease in the battery capacity after a reboot. After a reboot, the system shows the battery is fully charged, but with a decreased capacity. Every single cycle the capacity drops. The XPS 13 is running Ubuntu 16.04. Would you have any idea why that’s happening?

Many thanks.

A:XPS 13 L322X: battery capacity drop

Sounds like you may be getting batteries as old as the original one - there's a date code on the battery you may want to check out (it's part of the Dell part number -- you can find out how to decode it online).

I just got my X1 back from the battery recall. Everything done with that was top notch and I couldn't be happier. However since I got it back, the battery will show 32%-35% and then suddenly it will show 6% and the low battery warning will pop up. This has happened twice since I got it back. Before the recall I would have fairly linear battery drain until 10% or so. Charging seems normal. It just seems weird (and probably not related) that this shows up after the recall. I updated the Firmware a month before I sent it in and noticed no weird behavior.  I reached out to Lenovo and the response was kind of vauge and indifferent. I can't tell if it is a battery issue or software related. Normal battery use seems about the same(mainly using Word and Excell, and Vivaldi browser). It is just frustrating when I think I have what would normally 1+ hours of battery when suddenly the warning pops up.  Any suggestions?

Hi,  I've been using my TP 460 (Win 10) everyday just to study (Word, EndNote, Chrome... that stuff.) Just one week ago, my battery was performing just fine---it gave me 6 to 7 fantastic hours of fine work. However, now it only gives me 3 hours at its best. I know that batteries drain slowly over time (this is not my first ThinkPad,) but I'm pretty sure that this process doesn't happen in 24 hours! I repeat: just a week ago it gave me 6 straight hours ---seven days later, just 3 all of a sudden. There was one incident that I recall. About a week ago, the battery icon in the taskbar (Win 10 Pro) has gone: nor hidden, nor shaded---just gone. When looking at "Select which icons appear on the taskbar", in Settings, "Power" is on. When looking at "Turn system icons on or off", the "Power" button appears shaded, with no possibility of turning it on or off (even though it appears as "On"). I tried to clear all static from PC. So I removed the AC cord and the battery, and prepared to push the power button several times, you know... I didn't know that my TP had an internal battery. So, to my surprise, the computer started... and kept working for almost two hours. I waited until the power got drained. I put on the battery again, and the AC cord, and continued to work normally. After several restarts, the power icon returned... but my battery now lasts only 3 hours. What is happening? Any ideas, please? Details: -TP 460-Bought ... Read more

Hey everyone, I've been using my Asus G55VW for just over a year now. It's been having a maximum of 3 hours of battery life since I got it. Once, about 4 months ago, the battery life dropped and it shut down completely at 30% battery left with no warning at all. I fixed that issue by creating a battery calibration power option and it worked and I got the battery back to normal.

About a week ago, I turned on the laptop the laptop and noticed I had 1 hour and 30min battery life at 97%. I did fully charge it the night before and pulled out the adapter. So i get only 1.5 hours battery life now and it used to still function like normal and gave me battery low warnings. A few days ago, it stopped giving me warnings all-together and shuts down at 15%.

I tried calibrating but it the method I used before did not work. Is it possible the battery is on it's last legs?

Yes, I suspect the battery is at fault

Battery life is quite poor, if they are kept plugged in and at 100% charging can shorten life - often now you have power management that does not re-charge batteries to 100%

My laptop (Y700), 2nd set actually is having a performance problem while using battery. When the battery percentage drops below 30%, the frequency of the CPU drops to only around 0.75-0.78 GHz. With High performance set, it still doesnt speed up. Is anyone having the same issue or I'm the only one?and what are the problems that Y700 users are facing at the moment? Maybe I can solve it too

Is this normal with any "gaming laptop"? I have read varying opinions on this. Basically, when gaming, FPS is good, 40-60fps when plugged into AC adapter. As soon as AC adapter is removed and the computer goes to battery power, FPS will drop in half if not more. Plug AC adapter back in, FPS return to normal.
I have set the power profile to "high performance", changed the Nvidia control panel/power management settings to "maximum performance"
I have also turned off "battery boost" within Nvidia Geforce Experience application.
Really just making sure this is a normal condition. I see others with the same issue but no good explanation for the cause. Only thing I can come up with is built fail-safe to protect the battery from too high of a current draw and to protect the video card from voltage fluctuations? The battery is just not capable of the same current draw as the AC adapter is?
Any info helpful!

A:i7759 Massive drop in gaming/FPS on battery?

It's completely normal - you cannot game at any level without being plugged in.  The battery cannot supply the CPU and GPU running at full speed for any length of time.

1st Annoyance

First is the battery issue. I fully charge it to 60% then I unplug the power supply and go about my business. Maybe roughly 2-3 hrs later I choose to use my lenovo x201 again without plugging it into the outlet and use the battery instead. Oh look here... its down to roughly 30-40% for whatever reason.

2nd Annoyance

Then there is the issue of when the battery is at said levels and SUDDENLY gets a huge drop and warns me the battery is low?! I mean c'mon... I was pretty **bleep** sure the levels were at MAYBE 30% or so... but for the gauge to suddenly reach critical at 6% out of nowhere?!?!?! SERIOUSLY? What the hell is going on here?

3rd and final Annoyance

This normally happens when I'm watching youtube videos. My x201 laptop's screen literally "spazzes" out. This doesn't happen all the time but it DOES happen INFREQUENTLY which is so frustrating. I can't do anything but watch my screen go completely dark. Then it shows the youtube channel and go dark again. It flips in and out constantly. Why does it do this?! While it keeps "spazzing" out on me I can't do anything. I can't control my mouse. I can't access any menus. All activity remains frozen while I hear my youtube video playing. So annoying. So frustrating. I always have to do a hard reset whenever this happens! Unbelievable.

Yes. I apologize for going off like this but I can't take this **bleep** anymore. I spent close to $3000 on this laptop and I have been going ... Read more

I am using HP Pavilion - 15-au114tx.It's got GT940MX 4GB and an Intel 620HD Graphics Card. Here's the deal, please read in detail Smiley Very HappyWhen I bought the laptop a few weeks ago and played games on it (DOTA2, CS:GO) it ran fine on AC power adapter, good 60 fps, no drops, but when I played the game on battery backup the game lagged so bad and had majorfps drops. The game ran on 10-15 fps average and in between it fluctuated to 60fps just for a few seconds and then back to 10-15 fps.Overall it was unplayable on battery!I tried all the tweaks, believe me, updating NVIDIA drivers, Intel HD Drivers, changing battery plans settings to max/performace, chaging settings from NVIDIA Control Panel ,every inch!Like, every settings that you are told usually when you post on forums and get the 'generic' replies to troubleshoot low fps on battery.BUT today a weird thing thing happened. I was playing DOTA 2 on AC power with good fps (60) and my power went off. The game was now running on Battery Backup with 60fps! Smiley FrustratedI was like what the heck!. There were no drops, no fluctuation in fps, nothing! Can anyone please explain me what sorcery is this? Can this happen own its own or what.I have read hundreds of threads with battery backup low fps problems here on HP forums and people say that the battery is not able to give maximum required output to the gpu/cpu when gaming on battery for battery safety and whatnot. People were having same problems like me on the same laptop m... Read more
