Lenovo IdeaPad Z410 Battery Suddenly Drops From 100% to 0%

Q: Lenovo IdeaPad Z410 Battery Suddenly Drops From 100% to 0%

I have had my Lenovo IdeaPad Z410 since around January, and I have just recently expierienced the problem of the battery dropping to zero. What happens is my battery will be draining at a normal pace then all of a sudden my laptop will shut down and will not go back on as it thinks the battery is dead. If it is plugged when this happens then the orange battery low light will begin flashing and the message goes from saying "Fully charged (100%)" to "1% remaining (plugged in, charging)". This is quite annoying as I cannot take my laptop anywhere without fear of it randomly dying on me. I would assume I wouldn't need a new battery after only having the laptop for a few months. Also, if you are not familiar with this model, the battery is built in internally so I cannot try removing it and putting it back in myself. Any advice would be appreciated; I'd rather not deal with Lenovo's customer support unless I absolutely have to.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

hi LordMothim,

Welcome to the Lenovo Forums.

Based from your findings, it's possible that:
- the battery circuit inside is not working to unload the charge, or
- one of the battery cells have already reached its life span
- the chip that handles how the battery gets charge/discharge and checks the charge level of each battery cell (both are controlled by a firmware) is malfunctioning.

Batteries degrade overtime due to heat and daily use. If you're still under warranty, I recommend you contact lenovo and report the issue as you most likely need a replacement battery.

I have to replace the battery in my Ideapad Z410.  Lenovo customer service tells me to contact product support, but my machine is out of warranty.  The model number on the back of my computer is 20292. I have tried entering my model# on the Lenovo website, so I can find a compatible replacement, and I get a message that they have no info for my model number. I have tried major retailers, and their customer support cannot tell me what is compatible. I just want to buy a %$#@ compatible battery, and it seems like no one can tell me what will be compatible.  Help! Thanks.

Hello, so I bought this laptop( specs are as it goes: Intel core i7-6700HQ, 8GB of RAM DDR4, SSD (windows is here only+HDD(here are games) (not hybrid), Geforce GTX 950M - 4GB of RAM) with preinstalled soft and after making the laptop comfortable for my own usage, I started playing some games (lol/diablo 3/Rohan online), and here is where to problems occur... In Lol I have random fps drops and after some minutes random freezes (up to 3-4 seconds with fps going down from 144 to 09 fps) wherever I am (in team fights or just wandering around on the map). In diablo 3 I have random freezes for few miliseconds and also the drop in fps. Hello, first I apologize, if my post will have grammars errors, english is not my native language.Well - I have an IdeaPad 700 since a half year. On Monday I noticed, that the time for how long my notebook can run on battery dropped from about 4 to 2 hours. Plus I experience from the same moment some display blinking now and then (it blinks 3x times a day - for a second there is a black screen). I looked up the battery capacity in Lenovo Settings and it says, that there is 39 Wh form 45 left...which doesnt sound for me, like it should cut the time to a half. I did a malware scan, i looked in my power plan and in the battery consumpting Software and I found nothing suspicious...One think is strange - when the battery goes to ca. 30% the remaining time starts to improve. Like in was 1:15 time remaining when on 60%, when it goes to 30% i get 1:30 ??? Im starting to think, that it has something to do with the last big Windows update, that happened on September 30. but im not sure, if i wouldnt not notice the problem earlier. Or is my battery just bad? Thanks for answers.

I've had a Lenovo Ideapad Y40-70 for a month or so now and, although it worked this morning, it suddenly stopped turning on. When I push the power button, the light on the power button, the battery light, and the power light will come on white for a few seconds, and then nothing. It won't even boot to BIOS. I had the Lenovo logo show up for a fraction of a second like twice, but that was about it. I tried opening it up and taking out/putting back in the battery, and that didn't work. Nor did letting it sit and charge for a few hours as was recommended on another website.

Edit: I'm not sure if this is the right place to post this. Correct me if I'm in the wrong board.

I do not have hardly anything loaded onto this laptop, it is less than 30 days old.  All of the sudden in the middle of playing a game the laptop locked up completely.  Now, it is locking up all the time, and when it isn't locking up it is VERY slow compared to when I first got it.   I noticed in task manager the disk use is 100% ALL of the time, not sure if that matters or not for my problem.  It is running at 100% even with no applications open.  I did remove the McAfee software and increased the virtual memory size, but it hasn't changed the constant 100% disk usage.  I downloaded Malwarebytes and ran a full scan, only leftover McAfee filed came up and I quaranteened them.  Really clueless as to what could be going on since this laptop is pretty much brand new and there's barely any programs installed combined with the fact NOTHING is running when it seems to slow down and/or lockup.   Thank you.

Hi, I'm new to the community and I don't know where to put this thread. Please move it to the approriate board if I'm mistaken. So I bought this laptop, Ideapad 110 15-AST yesterday and started to tinker with it a bit (by that I mean customize it to suit my preferences and replace all stock softwares and features with mine) and I noticed something: its battery life. It's shorter than I thought. I thought it would be able to last at least 4~5 hours, but I can only get it to last for about 2~3 hours, that is with display brightness set to lowest and volumes muted, and only Wi-Fi is open (using chrome for browsing). Is this normal, or did I get a unit with defective battery? And how do I know if the laptop is already 100% charged when turned off? I don't want turning it on just to see the percentage if I won't really be using it. Cheers

My battery seems to charge very slowly when connected to AC and when I unplug I lose power in less than 20 minutes and the diagnostic says battery is in "Fair" condition and only charging at 41.38% of its original full charge capacity.  When I called customer service since I am still under warranty, they just said I could send in the laptop for repair which takes about 7 business days or go to a Best Buy for the GeekSquad to repair.  I went to Best Buy, but the Geek Squad said they would have to send it off for 13 days so none of this was helpful as this is my only laptop and I need it daily so to send it off for 7 business days would be difficult.  Are there any other options for repair that reduce the time significantly?  I can't believe Lenovo doesn't offer overnight shipping to expedite the process

The battery for my Lenovo ideapad 300 ? 15ISK has shown gradual degeneration and after less than a year it failed completely (battery report at the bottom). I?m deeply disappointed in Lenovo?s response to this. Initially they asked for having it in for repair, which in my case and I assume many others, is completely unacceptable. Being without a PC is extremely difficult and sending it away for a trivial issue like a battery replacement is unacceptable. But that was only the start of it, I checked Lenovo website and could not locate a replacement battery. Hence, I contacted Lenovo by phone but surprisingly I was told that the battery could not be sourced by Lenovo and I was recommended PC world or Amazon, neither have the correct battery in stock as it turned out.A lot of battery suppliers are listed on Google but most of them has very limited description and it seems very easy to end up with the wrong battery. I contacted Lenovo through Twitter asking for some assistance, but after several tweets explaining the issue, Lenovo vent quiet(!). A couple of weeks later I tried again, but with the same abysmal result. So, at the end, I gave up and ordered what hopefully is the right battery. Sadly, after Twitting Lenovo that I gave them up, they came back with the requested information?Lenovo is extremely good at promoting themselves, but be aware the equipment might not be up to scratch and their customer support is certainly not, not on their website, not on the phone, no... For my issue, I need to take the battery out because it's not part of the problem; however, I can't get it out. I read on here to take the base off, but when trying to do that, it seems that it's breaking the inner clips keeping it attached. I don't want to keep breaking these off just to pay for them to be repaired later on. Is there a simpler way to take this base off?

I have tried every conceivable fix for it from the forums here and none has worked. The problem that I am having is that the battery is stuck at 99% while charging and when it is off charge it will stay on for half an hour and the shut off hard without warning, it has caused me to lose progress in work. The battery gauge reset is no longer working either as it was on for hours and just kept showing 99%. I would appreciate a response back. A:Idepad Z410 battery always at 99% or 100%

I wouldn't expect much of an answer from them, the same happens to the Z510 I have and it happens to the Z500 models before it, they'll tell you to send it in under warranty but that will not solve the problem as it will happen again after a few months and I need the laptop for work, I didn't buy it so that after half a year I would have to send it away for 2-3 weeks, I bought the thing because it is needed here. They need a battery firmware update but that too is too hard for them to do. These problems are being experienced by people worldwide and I am seriously considering reporting them to watchdog here in the UK. They should not be shipping laptops that have known issues and then offer no fix.

Hello, I got the Lenovo ideapad 110 near a month ago, I liked it a lot, until many problems started happening and it ticked me off a lot. The main problem with this computer is the battery life. I looked up what the average battery life for this computer was, it said approximately 3 to 4 hours. And it is hard to believe that because at fully charged, the battery life says it is 2 hours, but runs out quicker than that. The charging speed, I was at 0% with this computer, and it said that to be at fully charged, it would have to take nearly 3 hours! What??? I researched online if there was any way to replace a more long-lasting battery or to see if there are some ways to save/improve the battery life. What I got were ways to save more battery, but none of it worked, they don't make a difference. Lowering the brightness, probably only saves 5 minutes of your battery, and that's the most I could really do (out of all the ways showed in the support page), since I never use bluetooth, etc. Really need some help, would really appreciate some better ways to saving more of the battery, or if there is a way to replace the battery in this computer with a bigger life. But I strongly dislike the problems with most Lenovo computers, thinking of returning/exchaniging it. Thanks for your time.

Hi everyone. I recently purchased a Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2 14 for school and general purposes. In general I really like it, but I have noticed that the battery life is not like the 9h (or was it 6h?) that were advertised. I am getting around 2,5-3,5h of battery life, while I'm doing some light tasks like surfing the web. I should also note that this is with power saving mode on. Have I gotten a bad battery or is this basically what I can expect with this product?  You can see the specs in this link: http://www.prisjakt.nu/produkt.php?e=3019464

A:Lenovo IdeaPad Flex 2 14, poor battery life?

I have the same problem. Probably lasts an hour on a full charge. Piece of crap laptop and Lenovo should recall this garbage. I wouldn't recommend any of their products.
