No NVidia HDMI port on XPS 8700 (How do I connect to Monitor via HDMI?)

Q: No NVidia HDMI port on XPS 8700 (How do I connect to Monitor via HDMI?)

My XPS 8700 doesnt have a NVidia HDMI port. What are my options to fix this if I want to connect to my monitor using an HDMI cable (without using adapters of course)? Is there a way to connect to my monitor via the HDMI port located in the middle left of the model? What is the latter HDMI port used for if it cant connect to a tv/pc monitor?

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have an i5-based DG67BL intel motherboard computer that has a DVI and HDMI ports with one DVI monitor connected to the DVI port.

I added an GeFORCE 210 graphics card to it that has a VGA and a DVI ports and connected additional two monitors to it.

So far computer is working fine with three monitors configured in windows as extended desktop.

This motherboard has just one PCIeX16 slot. It has 2 PCIeX1 and a PCI slot that are vacant.

I need to connect yet another DVI monitor. I took a HDMI<->DVI cable, connected it to the onboard HDMI port. the monitor was not detected.

I tried various combinations of monitors and bios settings in vain. Under no circumstances the HDMI port drove the DVI monitor.

The cable is working fine elsewhere.

What did I do wrong ? Is there something I need to buy/replace for this to work ?

Thanks !

A:How to connect additional DVI monitor to HDMI port

you 'need' to connect a 4th monitor? I recommend getting graphics card(s) to support your endeaver, but up to you.

Why don't you get a dvi to vga or maybe its a vga to dvi cord and connect the dvi monitor to the graphics card vga port?

Does it have to go into the HDMI port? HDMI carries sound as well as the video signal, dvi only carries video, and vga carries a lesser quality video

I searched the forums and the only posts involved the AMD card and I have an Nvidia card.  I couldn't find any information on the K4000M so I called tech support and they told me it was 2560x1600.  But then I found another forum where they said even the K1000M can do 4k.
I hooked up my 4k TV to the HDMI and used the Nvidia custom resolution to set up 3840x2160 at 30 hz and the display works.  The graphics look great, but the text is super fuzzy.  The TV supports 4K at 60Hz, but I'm not sure if the HDMI port on the back of my M6700 supports 60Hz.
Does the HDMI support 60Hz at 4k?  What about the display port?  Any idea why my text is super fuzzy while the graphics are razor sharp?

A:Precision M6700 Nvidia Quadro K4000M max resolution 4K monitor display port hdmi refresh rate

First, I'm going to refer you to this article from Nvidia discussing Ultra 4k Resolution.  The important statement is this:

The current HDMI 1.4 standard only has bandwidth for 4K at 30hz. HDMI 2.0 will add support for 4K at 60Hz. Details should become clearer in late 2013. There are a few TVs on sale today that support 4K @ 30Hz through HDMI.

Now, according to this review and article about the K4000m card specifications, it states that the card has HDMI 1.4 connections, which means it won't, theoretically, handle Ultra 4k resolution at the 60Hz bandwidth.
I also found this on documentation online about the Precision 6700.

The Precision™ M4700 & M6700 incorporates HDMI version 1.4. Features

So, unfortunately, it doesn't sound like that card will support the higher refresh rate needed.
As for Display port

DisplayPort cables are much simpler to define: There’s just one type! The current version, DisplayPort 1.2, delivers enough bandwidth to carry video resolutions of up to 3840 by 2160 pixels at a refresh rate of 60Hz

So Display Port would be a much better option for you, if available.
I hope this answers your questions.

Hi Gang,

I brought this GT-610 Galaxy video card with 1gb ram on Ebay a few months ago. It was brand new. It worked fine until one day I had to unplug the HDMI cord that lead to the TV (using clone view). After I did this and plugged it back in there was no more picture on the TV. It had been working fine. The cord shows up as being listed on the TV as HDMI 2 but when I look for it on the PC I see nothing. I used to see LG TV. Not it is no longer listed.

I have tried rebooting, turning PC off, updating drivers, reinstalling the drivers and taking the card out and and putting it back in. Nothing works. What do I do?

I want to use 2 displays using HDMI, but the only problem is that when I plug in my HDMI to my TV through the motherboard, it does not work. I know some do not support it which is why I am coming here. My mother board and graphics card are in my account so look there for the details on my computer. Thank you

A:Can I use my motherboard HDMI port as well as my graphics card HDMI?

I've seen a number of computers where the addition of an Add-in Video card automatically disabled the onboard adapter. The only thing that worked to restore the onboard adapter was to remove that Add-in card. You may want to consider getting a different Add-in card that has 2 HDMI ports. Or if your motherboard has 2 PCIe X16 slots get a 2nd matching card.

I currently want to connect a 2nd monitor to my computer. My graphics card has one VGA output, which is what my main monitor is connected to, and an HDMI output too.

The other monitor I have only has a VGA input, I'm wondering if there's a cable or converter I can get so that I can connect my 2nd VGA monitor to the HDMI output?

A:VGA monitor, but HDMI port

I think,as your 2nd monitor is not hdmi compatable then your hdmi out form your computer may not give hi def capabilities.
You can get a converter transcoder here http://www.amazon.co.uk/HDfury-1080P-HDMI-Converter-Transcoder/dp/B000SOPWS8 that might do the trick. Could be right for your situation.
Please hang around here and see if anyone else can chip in with suggestions.

I don't want to try without having some information first. The MHL HDMI port is for smartphones and streaming sticks. I have a HP Stream 11 Notebook and I'm wondering if I can safely use the MHL HDMI port for streaming live video feeds and video files. The MHL HDMI port does provide power to connected smartphones, but streaming sticks (like the Roku Streaming Stick) are powered by adapter. I believe that it should be alright, but I'm wondering if there has been any actual testing of this configuration.

I have Lenovo B540 All-In-One (Windows 8) whose monitor is cracked and the screen is black. I'm trying to still use the computer or at least access the hard drive by attaching a second monitor through the HDMI Out connect slot in the back. So I purchased the "DVI-D to HDMI (or vice versa)" cable (Dynex brand) for $40 from BestBuy and made the connection to my DVI monitor.

Well, Lenovo turns on but is not recognizing the second monitor! Should it automatically recognize the second monitor or are there some steps involved like pressing down on certain function keys (like you would in laptops)? I've perused Lenovo's hardware support manual but they don't explain proper steps.

Does anyone know what the proper steps are when the original monitor is not working? I know for sure the computer itself is working; it's making all the right Windows start-up noise. No, the computer is not passworded so it should go in straight.

Would it be easier to connect to the TV via HDMI? Would I then need HDMI cables?

Thanks everyone for any suggestions you might have to offer.

I've tried to change the HDMI to a other port on the tv but doesn't work... I've checked that i haven't muted the TV.
Still nothing, i guess this has to have something to do with the update i made yesterday?
Though i'm pretty sure the sound worked after the update as i've watched tv with sound on it after the update... however now it's just gone. Could it be because it went to sleep then i went back to the pc and (it was in hibernation mode) then toggled back but no sound on the tv...

Hello Community-  I recently purchased a Lenovo X1 Carbon along with a Lenovo Thunderbolt 3 and two monitors. hi there,

I?ve got an asus z370 motherboard and a grx 2070 gpu. I?m trying to connect 3 monitors to this setup.

One via DP cable from the monitor to GPU, one via hdmi-to-dvi and a last via just hdmi.

I once had this setup working, when i first built the setup. But after a gpu driver update one of the monitors just stopped working.

The issue is, if i have the DP connected and i plug the HDMI in, the DP stops working (says no signal), i can still see it on my display settings for windows 10 but it is greyed out.

Is this a motherboard or gpu issue? Or am i using the wrong cables (im fairly certain i had it working with these cables once)

I have a Dell Latitude 7280 Laptop with two Dell SE2417HG monitors.
The contrast on the monitor connected via VGA through an adaptor to the USB-C port is fine. The colour  on the Monitor connected via HDMI looks grey instead of black.
I tried swapping the connections, the result is that the monitor connected via HDMI the colour seems "washed out" while the monitor connected tot he USB-C is fine. It is therefore NOT the cables or the monitor. I did a further test with an USB-C to VGA & HDMI adaptor. Connected both monitors via the USB-C port one via HDMI cable and one via VGA. Contrast on both were the same and sharp!
This would therefore seem to be the solution, however, this configuration (having both monitors connected via USB-C) only allows one monitor to extend the desktop and not both and I need all three screens to work individually.
Id there a way to set the contrast on the HDMI port? - Changing the settings on the monitor does not work!

Have you made sure your graphics card driver is up to date?

Have you tried starting your PC up in safe mode and seeing if the problem still persists?

Please ensure you have done both of these and then post back; it would also be helpful if we knew your system specifications which you can fill in under 'User CP'.

Hello. I use Windows Vista on a nearly 6 year old Acer Aspire 5930.

My old monitor stopped working, so I borrowed one from a friend. That will connect through VGA(my old cable), but for some reason everything got a greenish look, impossible to use for anything besides reading.

So I also borrowed his HDMI-cable. I connect them both, it makes the sound indicating it's connected, but nothing happens. If I have both VGA/HDMI at the same time the VGA works. If I remove VGA it won't work. I've tried numerous different combinations of this.

I've tried the Fn+F5 thing. Only works with the VGA.

Tried rebooting it, both with VGA and HDMI connected. Same result.

I'm fairly certain I've connected this pc to a tv 2 years ago, but then the sound didn't work, but the visual was working fine.

I've cracked the screen on the laptop. Everything I've been trying I've done with VGA connected.

The video driver is up to date.

The monitor is definitely working on a different pc. The VGA is probably working. My old monitor died due to power failure(It just turned off and won't come back on) so there's no reason to believe the VGA-cable isn't broken either.

A:Won't connect laptop to monitor with HDMI

Hey guys, I just redesigned my room and a monitor (1080p, 60hz) has moved. I could buy a 25ft HDMI cable and have a cable nightmare, or the more optimal situation of having the monitor attached to the wall with the only cable being it's power/wireless dongle.

Keep in my I have a good home theater/gaming system with nice speakers and I really need to use the speakers, not the ones that come with the monitor (really poor quality)

So.. the first thing I thought of was Chromecast. I ran into the problem of only having ethernet (no wireless) on my desktop. I will buy a card tomorrow/monday to enable wifi on my desktop.
