The screen works in OS but not in bios. Its like the bios i missing drivers for the screen or they cant co-operate to set up resolution. But windows does open correctly. i ve tried to change bios display options via system setup (toshiba tool) , if i set to vga, i can see the bios in the external screen . If i choose auto or system lcd only i see nothing. Is there any work-around to fix it ? .

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A:Not sure if I should get this LCD replacement for my broken screen

Unfortunately this looks to be a damaged lcd screen. Does any amount of movement of the screen on it's hinges make this change?

Just know that you can run a wired monitor and be back up and running and actually pick up screen size as well run a wireless keyboard and mouse combo.

Hey guys, Long story short, a friend of mine who isn't computer savvy has one of these systems.  They also have an overly-excitable dog who accidentally knocked their AIO over and caused the LCD/LED to break.  The glass shield on the outside is still in perfect shape so I'm really not sure how it survived but the screen underneath did not, but the fact remains that my friend now has a system that they cannot use and I cannot seem to find a replacement screen for it anywhere.   Can someone help me?  Are there compatible screens that will also work in this AIO?  If not, where might I find the one I need.  I've checked Amazon and eBay but neither site has the model-specific replacement screen I need.  Any and all help will be greatly appreciated!  Thank you!

I want to replace my Satellite M70 screen by one coming from a Satellite L300
Is this possible ? Are both screen equivalent and interchangeable from mecanical and electrical wiring
and connexions point of vew

A:Screen replacement on Satellite M70

As far as I know both notebook series: M70 and L300 supports the same display size and are equipped with the 15.4" WIDE XGA screen.

So from my point of view it should be possible to use the same display?but I could be possible that the flat cable which connected the display with the motherboard could be different? so pay attention to this? maybe you will need another cable?

A few days ago our screen is displaying pink and some strange lines. Also in the BIOS. An external monitor is working.

Is this a defect with the videocard or with the laptop screens? Zie screenshots.

The laptop is always on the same spot and never moved or closed the monitor. It's less than 3 years old.

Hi there

My screen was broken and I need to replace it by myself but I don't even know where to start.

Are there not any screws or something? How to remove broken screen?

A:Satellite U940 - screen replacement

Maybe stupid question now but why do you must replace it alone. I mean this notebook model is pretty complicated for disassembling and I?m afraid it is not so good idea to do this without knowing how to do this.

What you need is step-by-step maintenance manual but such document is not a kind of public document. I really don?t know if you will be so lucky and find someone here who can help you with this. Satellite U940 is pretty new notebook. I have it too but I cannot disassemble my and help you with this.

My advice for you is: contact nearest Toshiba service provider and ask if they can help you with this and how much it costs.

Hi Guys,

my Satellite U840-10V display hinge on the right hand side broke when i accidentally dropped the laptop. This happened almost 2 years ago and today it came out, separating the window from the screen. I had this temporarily fixed from a nearby repair shop and was advised to contact toshiba to replace monitor head. my warranty expired in 2013 and I did not extend it.

Can anyone advise the best course of action to replace the screen? i live in ealing, London and am able to go to a service provider close by who would be able to replace this. I really like this laptop and I would like to replace the screen asap instead of dishing out money on another new laptop.

A:Satellite U840-10V screen replacement

If you want to fix this alone you need new parts and maintenance manuals. Can you obtain all this?

As far as I know maintenance manuals is not a public document and without step by step explanation how to disassemble the notebook this can be very risky.
What do you think about that?

This evening I bumped my computer screen as I rested it down (not too hard, but it slightly slipped from my grip).

The laptop appears to be functioning okay other than an issue with the screen. About 3 quarters of the screen is not working, it is just white background, with colourful streaks, and a large diagonal black line.

Is this likely to be simply a broken screen, that could be solved by replacing the screen itself? I am waiting to order a new screen but I don't want to spend the money if the problem is likely to be something else..

Also I've been told it's relatively easy to replace the screen yourself. I've done minor repairs on laptops/pc's in the past (new keyboard/track pad). I don't have warranty/insurance and can't afford a pro. Is it something I should be able to do myself?

I'm having problems with a Toshiba C50D-A-133.
It's s pretty new looking laptop, and had a cracked screen.
I ordered a new screen with the same part numbers and assumed it would be a straightforward job.

I'm not getting any backlight with any screens I connect. I've tried several, and replaced the display cable with no joy. I've checked the motherboard, and there's no damaged pins etc.

The display is working, I can see the Toshiba logo on boot and it works with an external monitor.

My thinking is that with the old screen getting cracked, it's maybe shorted a resistor or something in the backlight circuit.

Has anyone else experienced this problem and is there any way to remedy it?

A:Satellite C50D-A-133 - Screen Replacement - No Backlight

I?m a little bit confused about one statement.
You said the display works and you can see the Toshiba splash screen.

To me this means that everything has been connected properly.

In my opinion you should check the display output function. Usually you can switch between the external and internal display using the function key (in my case FN + F5)

Please check if you could enable the display using the special function key.

Is there any way to replace a broken Toshiba Satellite Laptop LCD screen? My son accidentally broke it by closing the laptop on top of it's mouse is what I'm assuming. There is nothing otherwise wrong except for the screen and I can't stand having to hook a monitor up to it so I can work on it. Also is it hard to replace the screen or is this something that a computer repair shop needs to do? Thank you in advance.

A:Solved: Broken Toshiba Satellite Laptop Screen

Hi there,

Yes, it is very much possible to replace the screen. Usually they run between $150-250, depending on where you find it. And most screens are relatively easy to install as long as you have a small screwdriver and some patience. Someone can easily guide you through it if you have any trouble, but a computer store will charge you a MINIMUM of $60 for labor, if not more, plus handling fees for the screen itself. I'd recommend buying a new screen online and then coming back here and I can guide you through it.

Also, which model Toshiba do you have exactly? I am familiar with most, but just to make sure.

Hope this helps.

Hello everyone,

I wasn't very clever of placing continiously my laptop on the floor, which lead to me stepping on it the other day and now I have a broken screen. It still works, but there are colored cracks..
I contacted Toshiba to check about the cost of such a repair and I was told that the price of the screen only will be more than 300? + the work and all will make it about 400?.
I also contacted a local computer shop and they said that a non genuine Toshiba screen will cost 160? + work.

My question here is: Can I by myself the screen on the internet and does it take any special skills to mount it on the laptop? I have just a bit more than basic skills in repairing elecronics and I suppose I will be able to change it, if it doesn't take any special skills or tools..
And as well, what screen should I buy? A genuine Toshiba one or a less expensive one also does its job?
The brand and the model of the laptop are: Toshiba Satellite P300 - 1G6 - 17"

Thanks in advance for all eventual responses!

Not sure where else to turn, but I've had the HP ENVY 15t-j100 Select Edition CTO for a couple of years now (warranty expired), and I just noticed on the left-hand hinge (near the power button) that there's a missing screw. When I open and close the lid, it makes a very painful sounding cracking noise so I'm holding it together with electrical tape for now. I would love some replacement screws, if there are any to be sent. Not sure what other options I have. Thanks very much.

I have brought your issue to the attention of an appropriate team within HP. They will likely request information from you in order to look up your case details or product serial number. Please look for a private message from an identified HP contact. Additionally, keep in mind not to publicly post personal information (serial numbers and case details). My HP ENVY Sleekbook 6-1010us has a broken hinge on the left side, the hinge used for opening the screen. Now, whenever I open the laptop, the screen becomes detached from the bottom and is held together by some wires and god knows what else. I then have to "re-assemble it", essentially. This worries me because it seems that it may break at any given moment. The damage is very surprising given that this occurred only through simple wear and tear from general use. I currently have a one year factory warranty on my sleekbook, and am wondering what I can do to get it repaired. Thanks.

A:Laptop "hinge" is broken and needs replacement

Hi, The chances of it being repaired under warranty by HP are slim, considering the type of damage. It certainly wouldn't hurt to ask. You can also  have it repaired by a HP authorized notebook shop. If you feel confident enough and willing to accept the risk of damaging your sleekbook, then you can repair it yourself. -erico

Almost a week ago I went to use my notebook.  I opened the lid and that is when I noticed the bottom plate seperating from the the rest of the notebook.  I put the lid back down so I could look at it.  That is when I noticed that there was a screw missing near the left hinge.  I thought it would be fine for a few days until I could get somewhere to get a screw.  Then late last night when I went to close the lid when I was done with it I heard something inside break.  Today I went to see what the issue was.  I took out the screws (the ones I had left) and then started to take of the bottom plate.  I didn't have to take much of it off and I found the source of what broke.  The left hinge that is near the screw that went missing BROKE.  Now I need a replacement screw AND the black piece that conects to the left hinge.  Also how do I rethe dust that is near the broken hinge and that bottom plate that you remove to get to the Hard Drive/RAM (the side that faces those things has a thin layer of dust - especially over the ven and speaker areas).  What do I have to do to get this fixed.

Hello to all

I am new to the forum and I present my preblem

I like the way an older satellite, the question SATELLITE M40 - 142 GB which unfortunately broke his hhd and his CD player. Say .... change it ..... actually I can not because I have a program that manages me a check that only runs on XP and with mec address of the network card. You if you were to break even the network card is lost in a few words.

This program operates a remote control of a home. I had to slam to find a hhd from 80gb IDE and I did. for xp installation I create a boot directly from hhd. everything checks, copies of xp files, reboot, converts from fat32 to ntfs ... but after it restarts again to proceed with the installation of xp comes me a damn mistake that I can not fix NTLDR missing, press any key any to restart.

The problem that not being able to boot from cd I can not solve the problem. I also replaced his cd / dvd but nothing. even if I insert the xp cd in the drive does not start, does not recognize the boot and I can guarantee that the CD I use is running, tried his hand another computer safely. I do not have the cd for the recovery and are simply put on the high seas.

The developers of this software are months that are working to change me the platform no answer. Can someone kindly help me to solve this problem by giving me suggestions or other ..... or if someone kindhearted threw somewhere the recovery of this model.

Of course an answer thank you in advance

I had a msg error fews days ago on the boot menu HDD TOSHIBA MK7575GSX is failed.
After 2 recovery using F8 key and one defrag I managed to make it work again, but Toshiba told me that my hard disk is dying and that I'll have to replace it as soon as possible.Toshiba is definitly too expensive (280EUR for same HD!), my HD is HDD SATA 2.5 750GB divided onto 2 partitions 349 & 348GB.
Capacity : 750 Go
Hauteur : 9.5 mm
Interfaces : 1 x SATA 3 Gb-s

I found my HD @ 72EUR second hand let's say but I'm not very hot buying it.

Question: somebody could recommand a HD to replace the original one ? Max price 80EUR capacity 500GB minimum.

I found a HDD 2.5 Seagate/Samsung Momentus 1TB 5400 rpm SATA-300 ST1000LM024 ?72EUR, I ask to the seller if compatible with my Satellite.

What is the best way to save my OS knowing that I would like to save the factory recovery option integrated on my HD that I used to restore
my laptop using F8 key.

For info : I bought a crucial ssd for my Qosmio x870-13v last year, they gave me a serial for Acronis software. I used it once to create an image of my Qosmio under windows 10 but the result was very bad when I tried to used it back, I had to make a factory restoration (it's Toshiba itself who changed my HD using the image I provided them). Then, Acronis image, I'm not very confident with this software.

Any advice welcome,

I am currently having a problem on my computer (Satellite U840-10R R?f?rence : PSU4WE-00E017FR).

The SSD part (32go) of my hard drive seems to be broken. I can't enable the SSD fonction in the Intel software or I experience big troubles so I disabled it. However, I still can use my computer because the HDD part (500go) is ok and has the system on it.

My question: is it possible to take the whole drive out of my computer and put a new SSD one instead ?

How does it look ? Is the whole thing looking like a classic 2.5 HDD ?

Which kind of interface would I find inside ? (Sata 3 ???)

I don't know how old your machine is but if the warranty is still valid I think you should contact Toshiba service and ask for replacement. Valid warranty will cover the costs.

Anyway, this 32GB SSD is with mSATA slot type Multi-level cell (MLC). On Google you can see how it looks like. Generally speaking replacement should not be problematic but if don't have experience with notebook disassembling you should not do it alone.

Fact is that SSD is placed directly under the cover and placed between RAM and WLAN card.

I have another recent Toshiba laptop (Prot?g? RA-A-19Q with a 256G SSD) that looks exactly the same.
Toshiba uses a proprietary connector and does not seem sell SSD replacement for its own computers ?
No other brands dear to provide replacement SSD for Toshiba laptops apparently.

Any indication where to find suitable SSD for Toshiba laptops or adapters to fit a standard one would be approciated.

I don't have this notebook model but if you have problems to obtain original hardware parts, contact Toshiba service provider in your country. They can order original SSD for your notebook.

Hi everyone,

because my Z830 is more of an A360 the last days than a quiet ultrabook I wanted to broach the annoying noisy fan subjekt again....

Iluminatus23 mentioned in [another thread|http://forums.computers.toshiba-europe.com/forums/message.jspa?messageID=271287#271287] that he now uses the new Z930 fan in his Z830 with good results (silence!).
On the internet I wasn't able to find a seller for this fan in Germany. Does anyone of you guys know where I can get this fabulous new fan? Might it even be replaced (for free?) by Toshiba? (warranty & goodwill)

Maybe Iluminatus23 could give us a little more information about the replacement (where he got his fan from / if the replacement was easy / if he is still happy or maybe problems occured later)?

Thanks for your time and hope to get some answers :)

A:Re: Fan replacement on Satellite Z930

I am also very annoyed with the fan noise and interested in replacing the fan. In case you don't already know, a guy in the comments section of an article mentions the part number is ?P000559330?. The article is in [here|http://tearsinderain.wordpress.com/2012/04/09/portege-z830-an-amateur-review/] .

I need some help with a new hard drive for the Satellite U400-153. My wife and I have a U300 laptop (canada) as well with a 160GB hdd and a U400-153 laptop (europe) with a 120GB HDD. I wanted to put the larger HDD in the U400 but the screws that hold the HDD in the laptop are closer together on the 160GB HDD than that 120GB HDD and so I can plug the HDD in but I cannot replace the casing on the bottom of the laptop. I want to upgrade and put in a new HDD but I cant seem to find any info on weither any drives will be the right size. will the screws on this fit? How can I know

Toshiba MK3265GSX 320GB 2.5" Hard Drive SATAII 5400rpm 8MB Cache - OEM

Does it matter what company it comes from? I thought i twas weird that the Satellite U300 wouldnt transfer over easily.

If anyone has any ideas please let me know..

Thank you

Theoretically you can install every HDD with SATA interface and 2.5? form factor in Satellite Pro U400.

If you install a new HDD in Satellite Pro U400 you have to use the old HDD case/holder to install it.
I don?t know what you mean exactly with that but maybe you can upload a photo to make it clearer.

Last but not least it doesn?t matter what company it comes from. You can use a HDD from Toshiba or another company too like Western Digital, Seagate, etc.
