Driver for Dell on-board Video

Q: Driver for Dell on-board Video

I know there have been many wise posts that advise using Vista drivers from the computer maker. I have tried Dell -- indeed, I spent more than an hour having a email conversation with a Dell tech who finally suggested I try an Intel web site. There were a few likely prospects at Intel but I couldn't get any of them to do the trick. I wind up with such a poor resolution that I can't read an entire page, with a slightly higher resolution the colors get overly saturated making everything almost unreadable.

I am running a Dell Dimension 2400 with Vista Business. 2 gigs of ram. It was all running fine until I had to do a Vista reinstall.

I recommend downloading and running DAP. It can help sort out any driver and firmware related issues on your system

It's worked out well for many of us in the past.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloaddap.org. (This link will open the download page of DAP so you can save a copy to your computer.)

A: Driver for Dell on-board Video

The integrated Intel 865GV video you have isn't supported by Vista which is why you're having trouble finding drivers for it.

Did you install an XP driver for it by chance? Check in Programs and Features to see if it lists an Intel Extreme Graphics or Intel GMA driver and if it does uninstall it. And/or go to Device Manager and uninstall the Intel video driver and restart the computer and let Vista reinstall it. Vista does have many built in drivers that work with cards that aren't officially supported, also check the Windows Update site, you'll have to ask it to do a scan and then select to view the Optional updates to see if there's any driver updates.

Also try updating the Intel Chipset drivers, sometimes that helps too: http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Det... Vista* Home Premium, 32-bit version&lang=eng

Hi all,
I have a dell here with on board video that has failed (someone literally pulled the connector off of the motherboard). The system should be fine otherwise, therefore I was wondering if I could put in a old style PCI video card into one of the PCI slots (it does not have a video slot) and have it work. Or would the onboard video cause conflicts? I know that with some BIOS's you can turn off the onboard video, and this is usually a option if the motherboard has a video slot available (agp, PCI Express). Of course this motherboard does not and is a dell cheapo.

I am thinking it will probably work but thought I would ask before getting a card for it.

A:Can a dell use a pci video card if it has on board video?

Will a PCI video card work? Possibly!

Attached is a pic of a board where the Sub-D connector was pulled from the board, and when it was pulled it shorted out the board, and a PCI card would not work.

I just reformatted a 366 MHz computer with Win98. The last one I did like this I just had to load the drivers for my monitor, and I got 256 colours. This one, I think I need to load the drivers for the motherboard. I went to the mfg. website, but the didn't list an exact driver for the motherboard, and I'm not sure close will cut it.

Everest says I have:
PCChips M748MR (1 ISA, 3 PCI, 3 DIMM, Audio, Video, Modem)

Anything else from Everest you need to know?? I really don't want to have to flash the bios. This lady *barely* knows how to use her computer, and I've already reformatted it and I have to put in a new modem still. For someone who might turn it on once a month to type a letter, I'm not concerned about new, quick, or flashy. And neither is she.

Thanks!

I'm working with a Dell Dimension C521 PC. It came with a PCI-Express video card which apparently has failed, yet the motherboard itself has on-board video. The system will boot using this video output (as opposed to the card which produced nothing) but when it finally gets to windows the auto-detect driver routine kicks in and begins to detect the video card, prompting the user to "Continue Anyway" to finish installing unsigned drivers. Unfortunately this event takes place in front of the installation of the USB keyboard and mouse (times like these I wish it had PS/2 ). Anyway, whether I boot up into Safe Mode or normal a prompt comes up about installing drivers for the on-board chipset. I can't interact with it because the driver install routine for the keyboard/mouse becomes interrupted.

A:Dell Dimension C521; USB key/mouse driver load interrupted by video card driver load

Bump. I've been thinking... the only way I think this can be fixed is if I boot from a Linux CD or something similar and delete a particular set of drivers for this video card. It can't prompt you to install any drivers if they don't exist, right? But I don't know where to go to delete such files and prevent them from automatically trying to install themselves. Any ideas?

Hi all . I'm working on a client's computer who had a Nvidia Geforce 3 TI card that wasn't working properly. The system recognized it, but the display properties said it had an error loading. The latest Nvidia drivers did nothing to reconsile the situation, so I thought he had a bad video card.

Upon receiving a brand-spaking new 5700 card, I installed it with the same problem. Drivers seemed to install fine, but upon reboot,. it's using a standard Win VGA driver. I've checked through the BIOS of the Dell 8200 desktop, and switched IRQs around a bit, but still no go. I'm insalling SP2 as we speak - not that I believe that'll have any bearing, but with as many files as it replaces, I figure it's worth a shot. I didn't think the AGP prot could be bad, as it displays graphics in about 16 bit color, but even surfing the web is choppy. A dxdiag reveals that direct draw works fine, but of course it can't do any 3D, as it doesn't know how without the drivers. I'm about at wits end, as now I know it's not the AGP card. Any suggestions?

Oh - one mor ething. It's an Interl Borad, otherwise I would've downloaded the latest motrherboard chipset drivers... can't seem to find them for this MB, though. : ). thanks again!

For the graphics drivers, use this link : NVIDIA Driver Downloads - Automatically Detect NVIDIA Products it will auto detect and update, it will need java to run.
Also to see what card you have you can go to start orb and type in "system information" once that opens under components, and then display you should find which card you have.

Photoshop ...from time to time i get this ATI driver error and Photoshop becomes unusable. If i restart the machine Photoshop works great. If the system is put to Hibernate then the PS won't work on wake up, giving me the same "ATI driver AMD driver error has occurred ..." . If i restart, everything goes to normal and PS works again.Another scenario is if that i disconnect the DisplayPort manually then the PS goes on the dead line again.
Mention that i have encountered all these situations with or without Switchable Graphics enabled from BIOS.All Adobe Suite is updated to current versions.Has anyone encountered the same situation, i mean it's starting to drive me crazy already, having in mind that this is supposed to be a fully working graphic station?

I assume this is because the correct graphic card drivers are not installed.

Then I boot into safe mode and I see in Device Manager that the X300 Driver is in correctly. I then have to uninstall the Driver just to get windows to boot up again. During the Install of the driver it does give me the warning that Windows XP does not recognize this driver (Or a very similar message). So Dell made a really terrible decision.  They have a transparent strip in the power button for an LED light to indicate if the power is on.  A power indicator is a given in any laptop, no matter how cheap it is.  However, Dell in all of it's genius decided to not include an LED bulb on laptops up to the Inspiron 7000 Series, despite leaving a transparent slot for it.  Seriously, what happened to this brand?!?  Do children make these laptops now?
I want to fix this, as my laptop is no longer returnable and a power indicator is absolutely necessary.  So the only thing I can think of is replacing it with one from the 7000 Series somehow (with some help probably).
This is a Dell Inspiron 5559.  I also have an Inspiron 5547.  Not sure which exact 7000 model I should get the part for...
Are they compatible?
Is there an easier way? Like how Fn+H turns on the hard drive indicator?
Thanks.

A:Can I replace a Dell Inspiron 15 5000 Series power board with a Dell Inspiron 15 7000 Series power board?

The systems use different case and mainboard designs -- and may even be made by different companies.  The answer in all likelihood is no.
I don't think Apple has produced a Macbook with a power indicator -- the PC vendors are playing follow Apple.

Hi all, as the thread title says, I am having trouble with my laptop. I just reformatted and did a fresh install of Windows 7 Ultimate x64. I have installed all Windows Updates and installed all drivers in the order Dell specifies here: How to reinstall drivers in the correct order | Dell US EXCEPT for the video drivers. I should mention the video drivers I am trying to install are the Intel HD graphics drivers for my onboard graphics. This is because as soon as I do so and restart, Windows hangs on a black screen right after the "Starting Windows" screen and my laptop fan goes on full blast. The computer at this point is unresponsive, forcing me to do a hard power down. The only remedy after this is to either do a system restore to before the video drivers were installed, or boot into safe mode to uninstall the video drivers manually and run CCleaner. The laptop runs fine running on the default "standard VGA drivers" with the exception of poor resolution and unable to run anything graphics intensive. I've tried using drivers from both Dell and Intel's websites, via .exe installers and manually via .zip folders. I've attached my SF diagnostic .zip folder. Also forgot to mention I am running the most updated BIOS with default settings loaded. Please help and thank you in advance!

I tried that, but the driver won't install, it says something that my OS isn't Vista. The driver version is this one: v 7.15.11.7597 / 24.06.2008 (R189832)
The NVIDIA official driver for 8600 M GS (v 179.48) for Windows 7 64 bits does not offer suport to Dell Vostro laptops and send me to manufacturer for drivers. I installed it anyway, but my system won't even start (I had to restore it).
Please help me with any kind of solution or sugestion.
Thank you.

A:Dell Vostro 1710 NVIDIA video driver for Windows 7 64 bit

Edit your post and remove the tag. That's not allowed on this user to user forum.  You can never use a 32 bit driver with 64 bit windows. You can only use the 32 bit driver with 32 bit windows 7--and sometimes that doesn't even work. Did you allow Windows 7 to find a compatible driver? Is the video card working now?  If it works with win 7, don't change the driver. You should have installed the 32 bit Win 7 for compatibility.

I loaded Vista 32 onto a Dell Inspiron 8200. I updated the video driver online from Dell's website, but even at the highest setting I cannot get a full screen image. There is a black border up both the left and right sides of the screen about 3/4 " wide, and a black border top and bottom about 1/4" wide. Can anyone please point me to a video driver that will enable me get a full screen image?

Thanks in advance!

I have a Dell Inspiron 3847.  The monitor no longer shows color, it is black and white - I bought a new monitor and also tested the monitor from my other computer. all three monitors are black and white so it is my computer. I have tried diagnosing from Dell's diagnostic page. All the tests I ran said my computer is fine. One test took 10 minutes, it looks like it tested graphics - but not the COLOR. I put in my expired express tag, and it identified my computer and gave me a list of updates.  I installed Dell Digital Delivery application update, Dell Update Setup because those were dated 2016. I tried to update HD 4000 Series Graphics Driver but it gave me an error message. Said that driver was not verified for my computer and returned me to Dell's Diagnostic page. I tried that 3 times. I'd like to know how I can find out what my graphics card or video card is and how I can get an update for it. I assume that my monitors are all black and white due to something on this Dell computer. It has been black and white for about 2 weeks.

First, my specs. P51 with Xeon processor, 64GB of ram, Win 10 Pro, NVIDIA Quadro M2200 Video, Intel HDGraphics P630 Video, Docking Station.  I have two external monitors via my docking station, one on the VGA other on the HDMI port. I also have two monitors via Sabrent USB to VGA devices. While I was out of town last week, Windows delivered an update to the Intel P630 graphics. Got home, put my P51 in the docking station. Bam, video driver keeps crashing, reverting to the basic driver and disabling all my external monitors.  I finally tracked it to the Intel P630 driver, I can uninstall it and reboot and it works fine for a while, but then after a reboot it crashes again.  I've tried reinstalling the NVIDIA driver from both their site and the Lenvo support site, no change. I looked for the P630 driver, but couldn't find it on the Lenovo site, at least as an independant download. It may be included in some other download. I did try getting the P630 from the Intel site, but what I downloaded said it wasn't compaitble with my machine.  Right now it has the same image on the internal monitor and the two monitors hooked to the docking station. Yes, the exact same image on three monitors, which shouldn't be possible under Windows. The two monitors coming in over USB seem to be OK and not have the "same desktop everywhere" issue.  I actually have two docking stations with external monitors, I have an office upstairs in my h... The disk on my wife’s Dell Inspiron 2200 crashed, so I bought a new one, installed it, reloaded Windows and backed up data. Everything went well with one exception, described as follows:

There were apparently a number of devices whose drivers were not contained on the Windows recovery CD’s provided by Dell. These devices showed up with a yellow question mark in the Device Manager. I went to the Dell website for this computer and found device drivers for all the devices except for the following:

The last two devices with yellow question marks were described in Device Manager as:
Video Controller
Video Controller (VGA compatible)

The Dell website for this computer is: http://support.dell.com/support/dow...mID=INSPIRON 2200&os=WW1&osl=en&catid=&impid=

On this webpage, there was only ONE device driver listed under the Video category. This was R128346.exe. After I installed this driver, the only device remaining with a yellow question mark was “Video Controller”.

What driver do I use for this remaining device, described in Device Manager as “Video Controller”? As I just mentioned, I already loaded R128346.exe, the only video device driver listed. Should I run R128346 again? Would running R128346 a second time damage the installation in some way if it was NOT needed? Is there some other video driver that this website has omitted?

Thanks in advance for any suggestions.

Failed to find driver for ‘Video Controller’, Dell Optiplex 280 model -Win 7 ultimate 32-bit
Error message (when attempting to play Chess or any other games that came with windows); “Hardware acceleration is either disabled or not supported by your video card driver, which could slow performance. Make sure you have the latest video card drivers installed.”
It has been over 3 months since I have been looking for a solution. About a year ago, I moved from XP to Window 7 ultimate and everything worked nicely. Then I run into a problem which I had to reinstall windows again. I did and everything worked fine except that I can’t play any games. Device manager shows ‘video controller’ driver is missing. So I tried to update the driver, the system couldn’t find it. I went to the dell site and there isn’t anything for my system for window 7. The only driver I can find was for window vista. I tried that didn’t seem to be compatible. So far I have tried pretty much everything that has been suggested on sites I came across except updating the driver through windows update which isn’t feasible given the type of connection I have.
Mind you, I don’t have high speed. I use CDMA and the speed I get is nothing more than dial up. You have no idea how long it takes to create an account on here and post this. I tried to google patiently but no luck. I noticed that there are also other people who are having the same problem but as I said earlier I have attempted whatever I can.

A:Failed to find driver for ‘Video Controller’, Dell Optiplex 280 model -Win 7 ultimate

The Dell OptiPlex GX280 desktop is a very old model and only has driver support for Windows 2000 and Windows XP.
It does not have driver support for Windows Vista or Windows 7.

It has 4 slots and supports a maximum of 4 GB of RAM.
If you're going to run Windows Vista or Windows 7 in it, you need to add at least another 1 GB to the 1 GB that's currently in it.
Here is the recommended 2 GB(1 GB x2) kit for it.

The only way that you're likely going to resolve the display issue is to install a video card that supports Windows 7.

ok heres the deal, i got a cheap-o pci-e card to put in my box so i can run it into my tv. the problem is that i need to use my on board video as well for my monitor is there settings or something out there i can change to make this work, because when i just hook them up i get no video on ither monitor or tv.

A:runing on board video and video card in my pci-e slot

It can only be one of the two enabled at a time. For most systems, as soon as you put the pci-card in the slot, it disables the on board video.

This is my second one just hours old. The first one I had was a 5559, but had 4gb ram and 500gb hdd. That one Microsoft Edge would not launch, and kept crashing. BRAND NEW OUT OF THE BOX. I did a recovery and reset it as it was when dell shipped it and same exact issue. I took it back to frys they couldn't even fix it. I exchanged it for this new one which is a Dell Inspiron 5559 15" same specs as the other but has lighted keyboard, 8gb Ram, 1TB hdd, without touch.

DELL, What is going on? I need this resolved ASAP. This happens when web surfing and even just in general windows. No other applications have been installed except McAfee and Word 2013, but is not running.
I'm not understanding what is going on when this occurs not even 24 hours out of the box. Windows 10 has showed that message 8 times while typing this message.
This laptop was a gift for my mother, and so far has been unreliable. I don't get a reply within 15 days I will be returning this PC and going with a different brand.
