How to create 100 print queues via script/batch file ??

Q: How to create 100 print queues via script/batch file ??

Hi everybody - My problem is that I have 100 identical printers, all the printers have network connectivity onboard.

I want to create 100 print queues for these printers, however I don't really want to add each lpr port/print queue manually !! Is there anyway that this can be done via script or batch file ??

Thanks in advance

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

From my experience on 2 Win 10 machines, beware of creating a pdf using Nitro Reader 3. On both machines the print function hung, and all print queues got stuck. Even a restart did not fix the problem (because, I presume, the issue was in the print queues themselves). The only way I found to resolve the issue was with a System Restore..... and this option is apparently turned OFF by default in Win 10.

For now, I suggest uninstalling Nitro Reader 3, and using the built in Microsoft Print to PDF instead. (Also turn on System Restore!) For reading PDFs, if, like me, you don't like Adobe Reader, Edge works fine!

Has anyone else experienced this problem?

I was wondering if there was a way to create a set of folders in a specific directory according to a date range that i input.

Select start date 2011 10 01

select end date 2012 10 01

Select Output path of c:\users\XXXX\desktop\export data

and it creates a folder for all days from 2011 10 01 through 2012 10 01 and places them in the output path i have set for it.

any help would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you

A:Is there a Script or batch file that can create folders by date range

Welcome damjohnron to the windows 7 forums.

Here are some snippits of a dos batch file that will create a directory with the datek and tell you if it already exists.

set DATEST=%DATE:~10,4%%DATE:~4,2%%DATE:~7,2%
echo %datest%
rem if it looks ok, then you can press enter to continue
if exist %homepath%\documents\%datest% goto dup1
md %homepath%\documents\%datest%
rem the pause can be taken out if you wish.
go to end
rem you already have done this.

you can change the path statement to the directory you wish.

This batch file can be run each day that you want to create a new sub directory.
There are other ways to do this but a bit more complicated such as reading an external
text file for the directory names.

I have the following batch file that works great, until I happen to execute it on a file with a + in it.

@echo off

I searched around for a bit, but I couldn't get any of the information I found about escape characters to work. How can I make the batch file treat the file name in %%f as a literal?

I'm having trouble creating a batch script to simply copy a shortcut to the desktop from a program installation, then carry out some tasks.

Overall my goals are:
Burn a CD that includes a autorun.inf that will load a batch script
In the script I want it to activate two self extraction archives
activate a self-extraction archive to install the necessary files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Software
2. (once 1. completes)
activate a self-extraction archive to install the necessary files to C:\Program Files (x86)\Software\Content

Then finally have the batch script create a shortcut from C:\Program Files (x86)\Software\Softwarename.exe

Any advice will be appreciated. thanks in advance..

It's not a problem with batch but with Task Scheduler. Before you can import a task that originated from another computer, data contained in the "UserId" element of the task xml has to be changed to match up with a user that exists on the machine you are importing the task to.

I maintain a printer with 6 password protected accounts and one account that's not PW protected. It has only one print Que. IT would be nice if each user had their own Que. Is this possible? How?

A:I needed more than one print queues

First give the printer a static IP address or reserve one in your DHCP pool.
Add a printer, local printer, create a new standard TCP/IP port and enter the IP address of the printer. Complete the installation of your printer driver and print a test page. Right click the new printer installation and select printing prefernces and make the approriate selections. Install a second printer but instead of adding a second port, attach it to the port created above and repeat process.

Occasionally, a print job gets stuck on our NT server when printing to a printer installed and connected to it. If you open up Printers and double-click on the printer, the offending print job will be shown at the top along with any other jobs that are stuck underneath it.

The problem is that sometimes deleting the job doesn't work and nor does 'purge print documents' regardless of trying it on the PC that sent the document or the server.

One way of clearing things is to reboot the server, but surely there is another way?

Any ideas?

Me and my friends are constantly plagued by Local Area Network connection issues when trying to connect to each other for streaming, game, etc. I was wondering how to create a file (like a batch file or script) that would execute the following commands to make the process quicker and easier to set computers up for a LAN.

- disable windows firewall
- disable/enable network adapters
- end unneeded processes such as ituneshelper.exe, ApplemMobileDeviceService.exe, etc.
- set computer's IP address to a specific static one (i.e. as well as dns servers to particular settings

The whole point is to ease the process of connecting several computers on short notice in a short amount of time. I just need help learning how to write such a script or batch file or something that can execute all these things.

We can print to network queues from every application in Windows 8.1 except the inbuilt Reader Modern App. It will print to the local XPS Document writer. The network print queues show in the list of available printers but when we try to print the message
"There was a problem connecting to the printer. Make sure it is connected and try again". The same pdf will print fine from Acrobat Reader. This is for any pdf I try. I wondered if this had something to do with the Reader App not understanding network
print queues that don't connect to a specific device, just to a queue manager.

Backround: I am a college student majoring in Information Technology with a focus in programming. I also work for my school's IT department as an IT associate. I have 4 years of experience dealing with hardware and software and have studied Net+ and A+ certification books.

Problem: At my school my boss, the IT Director, wants to schedule a batch file to run weekly that will delete items from the desktop and folders of the "Student" account on all of the student computers. He asked us associates to go around to every student computer with this batch file on a thumb drive and schedule the task. Seems simple enough right? The problem is we are talking upwards of 300 computers throughout the campus. I proposed a solution to him where we would use a script that would essentially consult a text document with the names of all of the student computers in it, then run the file.

I am 99% this can be done, I just have a very small amount of programming experience. If anyone has an answer or knows of an easier way to accomplish this I appreciate it. Thanks in advance.

EDIT: All student workstations are running Windows XP SP2

At work i use 2 different PDF viewing software. One is Adobe for editing and the other is Foxit for quick viewing. They have their pros and cons and so I use them interchangeably.

For some work I will use Foxit for several hours at a time and only open something in Adobe on an as needed basis using the right click "open with" context. The opposite is true, for some work I use Adobe for hours and then use Foxit as needed with "open with" context.

I want a registry file or some application that will enable me to simply double click on it and KNOW that my file association for PDF is now Foxit (or Adobe depending on what batch or registry file I double click on).

I see there is "HKEY_CURRENT_USER\Software\Microsoft\Windows\CurrentVersion\ Explorer\FileExts\.pdf" which changes when I edit the file association in control panel. It does update, but I can't manually change the "UserChoice" Progid item. It changes only through file association in control panel.

I realize there are some in HKEY_CLASSES_ROOT but they dont update when i update it in file association in Control panel.

I don't know what to do or where else to look. It is tedious to have to go to the control panel -> file association manually.

Can someone help?

A:PDF file association REG or Batch Script

As for Foxit file association, that is easy.
"PathTo\Foxit Reader.exe" -Register
should do the trick.

But with Adobe Reader that is more complicated.
You can run repair function of it's MSI package with parameters /fum (f -to allow further parameters, u - rewrites user specific registry entries, m - rewrites other registry entries).

Or you can use registry monitoring software (some even in trial mode) like Total Uninstall to see what values are changed when you switch between Abode and Foxit. Once you will get these changes you can create two reg files for both cases. Or just one for Adobe and use code above for Foxit

For starters i would like to apologize about my bad English, i don't use it that frequently so might have a hard time to express myself good enough for you to understand what im trying to do.

I have a .csv file where A1 and B1 will be having constant values, the values are A1 = Name B1 = Order number.

Im trying to figure out if a script could help me to populate the cells beneath A1 and B1?

If it could ask me for name: and then i would have to type in a name that would populate A2, A3, etc. Perhaps it could also ask me for the amount? so if i put in the name "Adapter" and then it asks me for amount where i type in 10 it would put the word "Adapter" in A2-A11

I would also like it to ask me for an order number that would be put into A2-A11 in this case.

The amount that i would like to put in will vary from time to time.

IThis is what i would like the CSV file to look like after inserting the name "Adapter TKS-B" and the amount: 29 along with the order number: 123456. Hopefully you will understand how i want to populate the .csv file.

Is this possible? Again im terribly sorry for my bad English.

Thanks in advance

Just wondering if anyone could help me create this batch file. Have been trying for a while and is starting to really frustrate me. Any help would be greatly appreciated! Thanks.

? Create a batch file called myBackup.bat.
? It will backup all contents of a folder called 'files' to a folder called 'filesBackup'.
? If 'filesBackup' doesn't exist, it should create it.
? If 'filesBackup' is empty it should copy all files including subdirectories.
? If 'filesBackup' is not empty it should copy only newer files, without prompting.
? Don't use absolute paths, only relative folder names.
? You will need to use command line help to find the best command to use and what parameters to use. Copy command won't work, you will need a command that does eXtra.
? Paste the text of the batch file as well as a screen shot into your document.

However when i run a music app called cubase 5, i hear all sorts of squeaks and glitches when i simply move my cursor around the screen. The problem resolves itself when i switch to the standard windows classic theme.

My question is:

How do i write a simple windows batch file that when run by doubleclicking an icon will:

1) switch the theme to windows classic
2) run cubase.exe
3) switch back to windows aero theme when i exit cubase.

I appreciate you considering my query.

All the best.

A:Is it possible to create a windows batch file to do this?

Something like this should do
"%windir%\Resources\Ease of Access Themes\classic.theme"
tasklist | find "cubase.exe"
if errorlevel 1 "%windir%\Resources\Themes\aero.theme"
Please change cubase filename and location for appropriate ones - I do not have that program.
Delete "pause" if you want cmd window to close upon completion too.

Personalization window will pop up, but that is a regular thing: it always pops up if you start theme file in any way.

I have been trying to create a shortcut to launch a batch file one folder up from the shortcut location.
I have been able to do this using and intermediate batch file in the same folder as the shortcut as follows:

And the shortcut target is:
%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c Intermediate.bat

This way I can move these folders anywhere on the drive or another drive and the shortcut still works.
However, I would like to leave out the Intermediate.bat file and launch the Oneup.bat directly. I tried:
%windir%\system32\cmd.exe /c FOR %%V IN ("%~dp0..\") DO set curdrv=%%~dpV && start "" %curdrv%Oneup.bat

So I am looking to create some kind of batch file or script where I can click on it....it asks for the machine name, I enter it and then it displays the last logged on user. The following command
" wmic /NODE:"computername" computersystem get Username" gives me the desired results but I am trying to automate the process. I appreciate any help

A:How to Create a Batch file for last logged on for a remote use

Like this?

ECHO Type the machine name, press ENTER, Ctrl+Z, ENTER
FOR /F "tokens=*" %%A IN ('TYPE CON') DO SET INPUT=%%A
wmic /NODE:"%MACHINENAME%" computersystem get Username | find "\"
Put that in a bat file and run it and it will ask for a machine name. The tricky thing is it needs a 3 step ENTER + Ctrl+Z + ENTER to exit the input mode. (that's the best I could do for a quick solution)

I made it so you can also call it with a parameter, then it won't ask for a machine name. Example:
C:\>GetLastUser.bat SERVER12
