Q: Touchscreen failure - shows dozens of touches (Model 27-n014...

Operating System: Microsoft Windows 10 (64-bit) I recently have started to see dozens of of "touches" on my screen at the same time. I see the radar effect of the touch point going vertically up the screen, it looks like fireworks going on up the screen, and cannot do anything for HOURS. It started as one line, now it is 2 or 3. I have done software updates etc., virus checks....but no change or improvement

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I recently just got this brand new laptop for christmas, everything worked perfectly untill one day when an update occured the screen  would seem like if a ghost were touching it , it will touch it self all over the place , its so annoying. i restored the computer and it worked a little while until it started happening again, i already tried the troubleshooting steps and none seem to work, I disabled the touchscreen driver- enabled it again, calibrated the screen, ran some tests and it just wont stop doing it, right now i have the driver disabled because it wont let me do anything without the screen touches , please help me.

Over the past year, I have noticed that my TouchSmart 610 desktop will "sense" touches at the top-left of my screen. This happens even when I am not touching the screen at all. It seems to happen the most frequently when I am using Microsoft Word, which sometimes causes the program to attempt a save or undo my work because of where the shortcut icons are placed.  I have found that I can stop these phantom touches from happening by going into device manager and disabling HID-Compliant Touch Screen. This also disables my ability to control the desktop with touch. However, when I reset my computer, the phantom touches begin again, even though the HID-Compliant Touch Screen is disabled. Enabling and disabling it again appears to resolve it. I have already attempted to clean the touchscreen surface as a solution. This didn't help. 1. Is there a way to prevent these phantom touches from happening?2. If not, is there a way to set it so that the HID-Compliant Touch Screen solution I use stays in place even after a reset? Thanks!

I too have been having this problem. I bought my yoga 2 13" laptop about 2 months ago and the phantom touches started about a month later. At first I thought maybe the screen was picking up the fingerprints left on my screen or that there was a lag in response when i would touch the screen and nothing would happen but after reading other posts I can see this is a much bigger problem. When it starts I can'tget control of anything and have to wait for it to eventually stop and then restart my computer.  I found that this makes things subside for a while but then it starts all over again with no rhyme or reason. The most annoying part is that it closes my open tabs on the browser and sometimes opens others that are saved on my favorite bar. I'm worried that one day I'll be in the process of writing a paper for school and it deletes it before I get control of the screen.  Had I known this was such a common issue I would have never bought this laptop. Here I thought I was making my life a little easier being able to bring in my laptop to class and take up as little space as possible but looks like I will not have the option of using the touch screen if this is not easily resolved.

A:Yoga 2 13 Phantom touches on touchscreen

I have a similar problem with my Yoga 3 14 (I7). It works from a fresh boot, but if it goes to sleep, or sometimes sits for a while even w/o the screen blanking, the touch scrren doesn't respond to touches, but does have 'phantom' touches. Turning off and back on fixes. I got the laptop about a month ago. This seems to be a driver issue to me.

I am having an issue with my screen ghost touching in the top left hand corner. This seems to happen when I am online gaming but doesn't happen when I am just browsing the internet and hasn't happened whilst I've been on the forum this morning. It takes my cursor up to the top and minimises any windows that I have game play on. (not in full screen)I have tried re-calibrating my screen and also have ensured that their isn't any other devices near by that might be causing magnetic interference.Any ideas how to fix this?If I turned off touchscreen whilst gaming can I switch it back on again easily?

Just a little bit about my set-up.

I have two 60inch sharp touchscreen boards that are connect via two separate HDMI's into two separate HDMI ports in graphics card.

My issue arises here, I am unable to touch both monitors (when it works, sharp drivers are shaky) simultaneously.

Is windows 7 capable of doing two separate mices, via one computer? (in this case, its not mice its touches)..

Thanks in advance!!!

A:Two Touchscreen Monitors and One PC, how would I do multiple touches

Windows 7 can handle multitouch.

Windows Touch - Microsoft Windows

MultiTouch Capabilities in Windows 7

I suggest that if you're having issues, try uninstalling the sharp drivers and try using the windows generic drivers for touch. I am also sure you have tried this already, but make sure to get the latest version of the touch driver.

Also try calibrating the touch screen:
Use the following steps to calibrate your touch screen in Windows 7:

Click Start and then Control Panel, and next Hardware and Sound.
Under Tablet PC Settings, tap Calibrate the screen for pen or touch input.
On the Display tab, under Display options, tap Calibrate and then Yes to allow the program to make changes.
Follow the on-screen instructions to calibrate your touch screen.

The Tablet PC Settings are only available when your touch screen is properly detected. If the option is not visible, ensure that the USB cable is connected to your PC in case of an external touch screen display.

If calibration does not resolve your problem, tap Reset Calibration data under Display options on the Display tab. This will remove all previous calibration data and reset your monitor display back to default settings.

I can not believe how many issues I have found online with the Yoga 2.  Whatever, it's faulty.  That's no longer to be decided - however - I am in need of the actual Touchscreen Driver.  Nowhere on this site have I been able to find the Touchscreen driver - ONLY the touchpad driver.  The Display driver did not appear to have a sub driver containing the touchscreen...and since Lenovo doesn't offer live chat I am stuck here on these forums looking for a driver for something that should be readily available considering all of the touchscreen issues this thing seems to have.  The touchscreen simply does not work, and in DevMgmt it says the driver is missing.  So, I am hoping someone can point me in the right direction to get this thing working. Thanks.

I swear I'm never messing with linux again. It's a great operating system when it works, but when it doesn't, it will screw everything up.

OK, so I removed the linux partition from inside windows. But it was still trying to boot into ubuntu, because of grub. Well, I used this recovery cd to try to fix this, but it was a factory recovery cd for an dell laptop (N5050).

Well, the computer is actually a dell inspiron all in one 2305.

I'm currently using windows and it's working correctly, just displaying wrong model (probably wrong drivers as well).

Anyways, linux is still installed and the computer thinks it's a dell laptop.

I forgot to mention one thing, the optical drive doesn't read cd's. But I can boot from a usb.

So, what can I do to fix the situation, and I solemnly swear to never use ubuntu again!

A:System info shows wrong model, how to remove grub?

Just an update, I was able to remove ubuntu and combined the partition with windows, and restore the mbr using easyBCD (Highly recommend it)

How can I make sure that windows recognizes my computer as a dell inspiron one 2305?

Welcome to TSG.

If you have a webcam on your computer, then it has to appear in device manager. It would be under imaging devices and would at the very least, have the word camera somewhere.

Alternatively, if the former isn't the case, then do you see any red x's or yellow !'s in device manager?

Well the service from HP just gets worse. Not only did they not repair my touchscreen the first time it failed, they have made me wait a week for an uplift of the computer so that it can go for a second attempt to repair it and having waited a week for this uplift, taken a precious day's holiday and sat in all day waiting for them to come for it they have not turn up to collect it. They did not have the decency to let me know they were not actually coming.  When I phoned to find out what was going on they said they would have to arrange for the courier to come back but he did not come in the first place. So now I have to wait even longer for  the repairand take a second day's holiday to be here.  I have been patient, gave them one chance already to have it repaired. Agreed to a second repair which HP are clearly not taking seriously and are wasting my precious time.  This is an appauling service. I think it is time to escalate a complaint and get a refund.

Hi, I recenlty purchased a HP Spectre x360 13-4100nn and after two days the touchscreen stopped functioning.I already tryied all the recommended fixes:- drivers, BIOS, OS updates- System recovery + factory reset (http://h20564.www2.hp.com/hpsc/doc/public/display?docId=emr_na-c02638587)- BIOS restore (http://support.hp.com/ee-en/document/c02693833)No effect ! Moreover, the touchscreen doesn't work in BIOS, it doesn't show up in Windows Device Manager, and the HP PC Hardware Diagnostics (UEFI) doesn't detect any "touchscreen" to diagnose, then it is unrelated to the OS.So I suppose it's an "early failure". I also mention that during the drivers update (with HP Assistant) at a certain point a black (text mode) window appeared and tried to update some firmware. It gave a series of errors (something like "step 1... error, step 2... error, step 3 ... error...") at the end the text became all red and "update FAILED ... press ENTER". Unfortunatelly this happened very quick, in a few seconds, and I didn't have time to learn what component/driver had tried to update. I suppose that it tried to update the display with a wrong firmware (?!?). This failed update happened some time before I detected that the touchscreen is not working, that's why I THINK they might be related. What can I do ? Is it possible to restore the initial firmware of the display ? Or it is case of real hardware failure ? I hope a support technician will contact... Read more

Hi All,
Need some expert assistance here.
Please note that this happened when I was away from my computer and it was left on.  My wife came back from work and noticed the following after she confirmed there was a power failure.  So, I'm going by what the wife says:
1) After coming home, my wife noticed the power went out on our street.  After turning the comp back on, a BSOD came up on the computer screen (I'm not sure what it said).
2) She turned off the computer manually and then re-booted....it went into some type of "Repair" and it recommended to continue, so my wife says yes and the computer did its thing.
3) After, re-booting all seemed fine, programs, files, internet was intact.
However, after I used it in the evening, I noticed that one of my partitions was missing.  Upon viewing Disk Management and the partition structure in Windows, there was a section on the drive that says "Unallocated Space" of about 80GB.  It appears in place of where the missing partition is supposed to be.
The missing partition is NOT the Windows partition (I can boot up no problem), but rather where I keep photos, videos, movies and my iTunes music library.
I've tried booting to GParted Live CD and when the graphical depiction of my partitions come up, it shows the same thing....my primary boot partition (C drive) and the Unallocated space where my D drive is supposed to be.
Next, I tried using TestDisk to... Read more

A:Partition disappears after power failure, now shows Unallocated.

If you used Testdisk, did you press the upper case "P" when the partition was highlighted? Are your files listed? Did you use the Testdisk for Windows version? You can recover your files by using the ":" key to select your files/folders and the upper case "C" to copy. The default location for recovery would be the folder you unzipped Testdisk to. I think recovering the files this way would be the safest. Then you could partition and format the unallocated space again after retrieving all your files. If you have an external drive, you could open testdisk from there. Using the "a" key would select all files and recover them to your external drive.

I first used Rufus with NTFS file format to create the bootable Macrium Reflect USB but when booted, Marcium reflect neither found an operating system nor showing any hard disk in the computer, although hard disk is showing in the BIOS. Later on I googled and found that I should make a bootable USB using Fat32 file system since I have UEFI BIOS. So i did that using Rufus again and still Macrium Reflect shows nothing. I dont want to install windows again, but want to restore/fixboot to the previous working condition. Any help would be appreciated.

PC Configuration:
Intel Core i5 Skylake
Gigabyte H110 S2PH
Kingston 8GB Hyper X
1 TB SATA WD Black

Hello. I'm using Spectre X2 Tablet PC deattachable laptop and I'm having issue with touchscreen. Few days ago my little brother used my PC, he ran all excutable stuffs from my external storage drive and finally, He destroyed my PC. He installed wrong touchscreen firmware (It was for my secondary laptop which from Lenovo). So, I can't use my touchscreen and, It never works. I've already installed all driver listed on  support page, and tried to reset my PC, Re-install windows.. Nothing works. Only way to I resolve it is re-installing proper Touchscreen firmware. But there's no touchscreen firmware for Spectre X2 on support page. Can anybody send me Touchscreen firmware for my Spectre?

SOme info about the laptop. Product Name: Sleekbook HP Pavilion 14-f004lOperating System: Microsoft Windows 8 (64-bit) I've had this problem a couple times already. The touchscreen stops working sporadically and the only way to make it work again is installing the  AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe driver from this site. however this last time I've run into quite the weird problem. The driver installer CLOSES INMEDIATELY BEFORE I CAN DO ANYTHING A couple months ago I posted this:http://h30434.www3.hp.com/t5/Notebook-Video-Display-and-Touch/AUO-Touchscreen-Firmware-installer-doe... Since then due to time constrains and schoolwork, I did not attempt to restore the BIOS until today.Today I restored the BIOS, followed all procedures they gave me, and the installer for the Touchscreen firmware does the following: -Runs-Asks for permission-Install it-Finishes installing-Runs the program's window-Inmediately closes, I can't even click on anything because it flashes for a second and disappears. I've already restored the laptop to factory presets. The installer DOES THE SAME THINGRestored the BIOS. The installer DOES THE SAME THING So please, do not tell me to restore the laptop. I've done it already. Doesn't work. Same thing for the BIOS. Nothing. Can anyone help me? Thank you

So I've had this happen countless times. The touchscreen stops working. The laptop is in perfect conditions. The screen, not even a scratch. I format the laptop, it still doesn' work. So, I've always fixed it by installing the AUO Touchscreen Firmware/ sp63116.exe from:http://support.hp.com/mx-es/drivers/selfservice/hp-pavilion-14-f000-sleekbook/5375393/model/5403360#... My problem atm is that this time, that process isn't working. The installer opens, installs the thing, then the program opens and immediately closes. This prompts windows to ask me if the driver installed correctly or that if it should attempt to install under a compatibility mode. No matter which I choose, it still does the same thing. It won't stay open for more than 1 second.  I've restored my laptop to factory presets a couple times already and the touchscreen isn't working yet because the driver/program/wizard thingy refuses to stay open after it is done installing. Can anybody help me? Perhaps share a different version of the installer? Thank you.
