Lenovo Y50-70 BIOS UPDATE (CPU Sleep mode issue)

Q: Lenovo Y50-70 BIOS UPDATE (CPU Sleep mode issue)

Hello, Lenovo team Can you please, add to your next BIOS update for Lenovo Y50-70 a fix, that my laptop won't lose CPU speed after i return my laptop from sleep mode. Right now i'm using BIOS version (3.03) There is no other way to fix this issue, only you can do it with a BIOS update for that model of laptop. Thank you.

I recommend downloading and running Reimage. It's a computer repair tool that has been proven to identify and fix many Windows problems with a high level of success.

I've used it in the past to identify and fix everything from blue screens (BSOD's), ActiveX errors, corrupt files and processes, dll/exe/sys errors, recover lost memory, Windows update problems, defragging, malware removal etc.

You can download it direct from this link http://downloadreimage.com/download.php. (This link will automatically start a download of Reimage that you can save to your computer.)

I have this issue: https://support.lenovo.com/de/en/documents/SF16-I0012Unfortunately the link in the solution for the BIOS update results in a "Page not found" error. Can I download a BIOS update anywhere else? Or are there different solutions? Current BIOS version is "cdcn28ww".

Hello. I recently bought a new laptop(HP Pavilion Notebook - 17-g101nu) and had to reinstall my windows, because I added a SSD. Anyway, after reinstalling and putting all the updates from the HP website, I updated the BIOS as well. And It suddenly started making problems. I usually leave my laptop on sleep mode, but the last few days I just come home and hear the laptop working, while stil being closed. Also I often lose my wireless connection at home and at the office I work at, and can not even get wired internet connection - it recognizes that there is a cable plugged, but no internet connection.I had a friend, who had the first problem(self starting computer) on an Asus, an It was because of the BIOS update. So should I downgrade it(and how), or should I look somewhere else for the problem?

This is my third X1 (all different generations) and I was very happy up till now. The problematic one has a Skylake processor and 512GB SSD and it seemed like a really nice config. The problem is that it doesn't want to shutdown nor wake up from sleep.First symptom: when shutting down, the pc seems to have shut down, but is still draining battery. If the keyboard FN-lock button is lighted, you can notice that this stays on. Also the fan will stay on if it was running before. The keyboard is even still responsive and you can turn on and off the different LEDs.Second symptom: when the pc goes to sleep, there is no waking it up. Also here the keyboard stays responsive for fn-lock etc.I've tried many things: reinstall windows 10 from scratch, reset the bios, upgrade the bios. Then Lenovo was actually very helpful to start: they swapped out the motherboard and when that didn't work, shipped the pc to a repair center. From here it went downhil: the repair was done in less than 5 hours according to the ticket (so I was impressed) but when I got the pc back I noticed why: they didn't repair it. They put on an image of windows 7 and since there the problem was not visible, called it fixed. Very frustrating. I put back windows 10 and guess what: the problem was exactly the same. When they shipped the pc, they had created a new ticket in the system, closing the original one. Now they even closed the second ticket although I already commented that the pc still doesn't work as it is supposed... Read more

I've tried whatever is on other forum so far including making sure the network adapter can't wake on, rebooting, etc.

I bought an used x240 8 months ago, a few months back it started not waking up from sleep but since I had work to do on it for university I left it that way and waited. Now that I'm done I'm trying to resolve the issue and it seems quite common. I tried everything I found online without success. Then I read that there were some bios updates and in the changelog the of the last one it says they fixed issues with sleep mode. Now I tried to install it from windows 10 and from usb since I usually only work with linux. The result is always the same:I boot inside the update utility, follow the instructions and when it reboots the lenovo splashscreen appears but it does not say anything about updating the bios (I saw it should on youtube). Needless to say, when I go inside the bios setup it indicates the version is still 2.37.I already tried changing bios settings in every possible way. If I can obtain a USB CD drive I'll try using that instead but in the meantime can anyone help me?

I was prompted to install a new bios update a few days ago, I let it go through and ever since then, if I shut the lid and put the laptop in sleep mode, opening the lid results in the screen flashing full of ascii boxes repeatedly, then it just goes blank.  If I push the enter key it'll just flash again with each press.  I end up having to hard reset the laptop before it will restart normally.  I'm really upset because this is 8 days out of warranty now.  Did Dell sabotage me?

A few days ago I had some problems with my HDD so I brought a new one.  To install Windows in the new drive I plugged in the DVD drive that Lenovo ships with the laptop and tried to boot from it. That failed and BIOS got like "programmed" or stuck with configurations that doesn't let it recognise any boot media no matter if it is a USB stick or HDD, no matter if I try to change the configuration of the BIOS it would always get back to the initial state of not being able to boot I even tried to reset it by unplugging its battery and the laptop battery but the only thing that happens is system time starting from 0 while any other configuration stays the same.  I thought this could be fixed using crisis recovery mode, but the laptop doesn't recognise the BIOS loaded on the USB and never make any sort of beep or alert noises, the screen doesn't show anything either and fans just get to 100% I really need help to solve this problem, it's like the BIOS got stuck in the last configurations before plugging the DVD drive in. (The Boot menu still showing that there's a USB booteable device even when it is not plugged in).

Hi. I have a Lenovo C440 All-in-One deskstop computer. I've had it for about two years. In the poast few days, it has been waking up on its own whenever I put it into sleep mode. What is causing this and how do I fix it? It came with Windows 8 and I upgraded to Windows 10 about a month ago. I wonder if the Windows 10 upgrade has something to do with it but I'm not sure. I ran a full scan using Norton antivirus software today but obviously that didn't fix anything. So how do I fix this problem?

Welcome to the Lenovo Community !

It is very possible that a Windows 10 update made some changes which now wakes up your system.  That OS has quite a few activites that run in the background.  Please review the article in my link below.  That information has helped others resolve their wake up problem.

I've got an issue where I need some your help.

First some the specs
Windows 8.1 Pro on Asus n53jf
4GB RAM - i5 450M

Second the problem
When we boot the laptop after it goes to sleep (or we put it to sleep mode) it always go in BIOS mode.

I've updated the BIOS > didn't solve the problem neither a reinstall or repair of the OS.
In the logs appears only the message that the system rebooted after it was closed incorrectly.

It could be a solution not putting it in sleep mode but that would be my final desperate solution ;)

So, do you have any suggestions?

Greetings! I recently bought a new laptop, Lenovo IdeaPad Y700 15-ISK, with Windows 10 Home preloaded. I found a minor problem that happens frequently. After the laptop is idled for a period of time, 5 or 10 mins depending on plugged in or not as you know, the laptop first turns off display, then goes into sleep mode after another 5 or 10 mins. The problem is, after I come back and try to turn it back on, the screen stays black. However, I can see that the laptop is indeed responding by pressing NumLock, CapLock, or in my case, Fn-Space to turn on/off the backlight of keyboard. I checked and I have the latest windows updates and latest drivers for everything. So, any brilliant idea on this issue? Thanks in advanced.

Hello all, I bought my lenovo Edge 2-1580 in December, but recently, the display won't turn on after I wake it up from sleep mode. The rest of the notebook still turns on and the power button is lit, but the screen will stay black even if I move the mouse or press any keys. I have to do a manual shutdown and then turn it on again, which works but then the problem occurs again when it goes to sleep mode. I've updated the drivers and disabled the notebook from going to sleep, but if I manually put it into sleep mode the problem continues. I've seen this as a common issue regarding Windows 10 as well. Any help would be appreciated. I just resolved this issue recently with my Flex 3 1580, so hopefully my solution works for you.  First, update the video/graphics driver (intel or nvidia) from the Drivers & Software page on support.lenovo.com.  Test sleep mode again.  If the screen is still not turning back on, then update your BIOS.  Back on the Drivers & Software page, look for the latest BIOS update and run it.  In both cases, but especially for the BIOS update, make sure your laptop is plugged in.

So I just bought and received a Lenovo Y700 15ISK - model 80NV. Everything works great, but I've noticed that when the laptop enters sleep mode, whether on its own or not, when I turn it back on, it goes through the start up process and any application I had open prior will be closed.  I did some digging around and came across this. I followed what it said and installed the audio driver and BIOS v35 (and subsequently, v52) but I'm still having the same problem. Any ideas on a solution? Thank you in advance! I think it might also be worth mentioning that beforehand, whenever I put the computer in sleep mode, it wouldn't resume and wake up until I had installed v35, so part of my problem's been fixed.

Only 48 Windows Updates installed. Most systems have 60 to 80 or more. Please visit Windows Update and get ALL available updates (it may take several trips to get them all).

Don't worry about the specific number, it's just important that you have checked and installed any updates that were available.

The memory dumps blame usbccgp.sys, but MSINFO32 lists ks.sys (kernel streaming of video driver)
And this seems to happen during a power down event (such as power off/hibernate/sleep/etc)

Finally, what applications do you delay using Startup Delayer?
What USB devices do you have connected?

I'm concerned about your version of Diskkeeper as it dates from Jan 2013 - well before Win8.1 was released.
Can you update it? If not, please uninstall it while we're troubleshooting.

Please update these older drivers. Links are included to assist in looking up the source of the drivers. If unable to find an update, please remove (un-install) the program responsible for that driver. DO NOT manually delete/rename the driver as it may make the system unbootable! :

A:Sleep Mode Issue

Sleep mode issues are very common.
First off, make sure all of your programs are closed.  This issue is a biggie with win 8 and 8.1, because the tiles keep the last 4 apps open.
To check what is open in the tiles do the following

To close a tile or app while you are in it, (so you dont leave it open) save your work then press
ALT+F4 (some keyboard require you to use the FN+ALT+F4 or FN+F4)
The above will close the current app your on.

ALso you can view a list of the open apps by pressing keys
WIN+TAB

This will make a list of them on the left side go to think link to see this guide and a bunch of others for WIndows 8 and 8.1

If this is not the issue, and it usually is, because if the programs are open Windows will not sleep until they are all closed.

If not then try these steps from Vonnie Hudson's guides on windows.

1. Check your Power Options
Let’s try the obvious stuff first.  It stands to reason that clicking Sleep should put the computer to sleep; however, those settings can change — let’s make sure they haven’t. Go to the Start Screen and type

power options
Press enter and your power plan should immediately show up. Go ahead and click the blue Change plan settings link immediately to the right of your power plan

The Edit Plan Settings box will pop onto the screen.  Click Change advanced power settings

The Power Options box shows up with a myriad of settings.

I have tried almost every possible solution to this problem and this problem is that every single time I put my computer into Sleep Mode, the PC will sleep for about ten seconds then awake to the log on screen.

These are the things I've tried without success:
Turning off "wake on this device" in Device Manager for EVERY thing
Turning off automatic updates
Turning off firewall (just to be sure)
Configuring my BIOS any and every way possible
Closing background programs before I enable sleep
turned off all my computer's extremities (stereo, hdd, monitor)
I even closed out of Windows Sidebar and all my gadgets
I may have forgot some different attempts as well. I was hoping someone here would have an idea that escaped my knowledge and frantic Google searches.

Hello,
I'm having a pretty annoying issue with sleep mode. I'm a decently savvy computer user to i might have changed a setting or two in my bios but i don't think its the issue. But anywho, My problem is that when i select sleep mode, everything powers down and then when my pc itself powers down, it just powers up without a hitch and returns me too my desktop. I dont really like shutting down my pc i use it a bit and the answer to this problem eludes me. I tried to change the "Allow wake timer" setting in power management to disable and in my bios, the ACPI suspend type is S3&S1 which is what it was when i installed windows. And too make it worse all the hardware im using is the same when on a previous installation of windows, sleep mode worked fine. I cant think of what it is and a handy google search didn't help me either.
I'm using a program that came with my mobo called asus ai suite. its a auto cpu overclock sort of program, and it has a "ai nap" program in it that basically puts the cpu in a sleep mode of its own but doesn't power down the rest of the pc. I don't think its the conflict (it didn't stop anything before.)
Ive had good luck with the fine fellow geeks here on bleeping computer and was hoping one of you could help
Thanks,

Neither Sleep nor Hibernate were ever truly perfected by Microsoft. While either or both functions work flawlessly for many people, the either don't work at all or cause problems on some systems. Instead of sleep I always recommend just changing the power options so your hd and display will power down after a defined period of inactivity. Both you and your computer will be happier afterwards

1. Please click Start >> in the search field type the key word as: Device Manager >> then click the Device Manager link from the top of the Start menu.

2. Click on the + sign near Network Adapters.

3. Right click on Network adapter listed there and select Properties.

4. Then click on the Power management tab.

5. Uncheck the option "Allow this device to wake the computer." and click on OK button.

This should resolve the unexpected Sleep Mode wakeup issue.

ALL THE BEST!!!

Hello everybody, my first post here and I joined specifically because I need some help. This problem is concerning my computers sleep mode, when ever I put it too sleep or when it does it automatically, the computer will sleep for a couple seconds before waking itself up again. Once it wakes up I get 2 errors on the screen, I attached a screenshot of the error to this post, if you want to see it. This thing is very strange, since it only started happening recently (I can't tell if it started once I got the internet or when I got wireless keyboard/mouse, I got them both a couple weeks ago around the same time). I've checked all over the internet and I can't find anyone with a similar issue, I've even checked a thread here with a walkthough, which didn't help at all. Can someone please help me spot and fix this issue?

Hello Carwrex. (nice name btw)

It looks like a missing or corrupted DLL file. If you have a Vista disk, pop it in and select repair. If you don't try /sfc scannow.

A:Sleep mode issue.

Hi, Try disabling Windows 10 hybrid boot - you can do this as follows. Open Settings and select System.  Select Power and sleep, then click on Additional power settings - in the following window, click on 'Choose what the power button does' in the left hand pane. In the subsequent window, first click on 'Change settings that are currently unavailable' ( near the top of the Window ) and then remove the checkmark from the box against 'Turn on fast start-up (recommended)'.  Click the Save Settings button, then close any open windows and shutdown the notebook by right click the Start Menu icon, select Command Prompt (Admin) and click ?Yes? to the uac prompt. Type ( or copy and paste ) in the following command ( including spaces ) and hit enter. shutdown /s /t 0 Start the notebook and let Windows fully load for a couple of minutes before checking if it will now shutdown correctly from the Start Menu. If this has corrected the issue, it may be worth turning Fast Start-up back on ? sometimes just deleting and re-creating the file will resolve the problem. Regards, DP-K

I would greatly appreciate any help in solving what is a pesky BSOD, after a new Win7 Ultimate 64 bit installation, from Lenovo Rescue Disks.

I have owned the laptop for several years, with no BSOD problems. The new install was after Lenovo had updated their drivers for rescue disks for the very fast Lenovo W520.

As instructed, I am attaching for upload my System Information file, and the SF Diagnostic Tool info.

Help is greatly appreciate!

Thanks!

A:BSOD When Coming Out of Sleep Mode, After New Install Lenovo W520

Free up the startup. Windows does not need any other program to auto start with it, but the auto start programs often conflicts and causes various problems including BSODs.
Click on the Start button
Type ?msconfig (without quotes), click the resulting link. It will open the System Configuration window.
Select the ?Startup? tab.
Deselect all items other than the antivirus.
Apply > OK
Accept then restart.
Also update the display driver. Drivers - Download NVIDIA Drivers

Let us know the results.

Hello, I purchased a brand new ThinkPad p51s last week running Windows 7. I noticed that when the laptop was left idle the computer would enter a sleep mode where the screen would automatically dim and slthe display would become patially white.  As you can see from the photo I uploaded , the PC would patch up in sleep mode with these white , blank blocks .These partial patches would disappear when I would move the curser but resume after computer was left idle.  Is anyone familier or experiencing the same issue

New p51s .. with Windows 7 ?  I don't think so ! The installation must be non OEM as the p51s does not (and never did) come with Win 7 AFAIK.

Hello all, could someone have a look at my dmp files. Although windbg points in the direction of PCI.SYS causing the stop errors, my knowlegde is far from sufficient to take the next step. When the laptop goes into sleep or hibernation mode, it crashes. Pretty consistent. Problem was introduced after an huge automatic update but this is something I realesed myself later. Thank you!

Welcome

The BSoD seems to be caused by the older drivers of your Intel(R) Wireless WiFi Link Adapter driver
